Jaye... be prepared... but don't loose sleep... Hanna's died down a bunch... she's not the threat that they thought she was going to be. Unless you have some really bad trees that will blow over on your house, you're going to be alright.
BUT, on the safe side... I'll remember you in my prayers, and all the ppl on the coast.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I took the test Phyllis.. you won't believe this..
100% Dixie!!!! How could that be for an Asian Cajun!!! Lolol!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sistahs, I am calling it a night. Worked on the debris this afternoon and ye ole back says I hurt!! So a couple of aspirin and slipping between freshly laundered sheets smelling of fields of lavendar and of course my pill..........., well you know.

Good night all, do sleep Jaye and be safe. Post when you can as you know we are a bunch of "worry warts".

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Much appreciated BJ.
Kel says he'll be snoring as usual tonight!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Rainbow dreams Marion..
Looks like it will be a normal day tomorrow.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good Jaye, and good for Kel. So he isn't really stressed about "the glove" after all. LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ssshhh..not gonna mention that to him.. :D

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm 89% dixie...
Here's one...

How does a Texan pronounce
S U P P O S E

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

sir-pose?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

NOPE...

It's pronounced " I Reckon "

BTW... Jaye... I didn't mean to down play Hanna so that you don't take cover... please... she's liable to do most anything... so, please be safe.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

:P Got me on that one.
Think I'm the least worried here, BJ. I don't panick easily..but that doesn't mean I leave everything to chance. We'll be careful.. and the only thing certain about hurricanes are their unpredictability!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ROFL Jaye...kinda like how did I end up with 77% being a yankee transplant.
and you check in so we know y'all are ok

I would have given ya the answer BJ but I was coding the online magazine for my group ..sucks LOL

niters Marion sleep well

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

So, mom made me get on and take the test, I'm 45% Dixie. Barely in Yankeedom; 57% Dixie. Barely in Dixie, on the advanced. For never having direct exposure to the south I'm pretty Southern; CA doesn't count and I've been to AZ for one week, and Las Vagas for a couple days, other than that I've only been to Yankee places.

My prayers go out that Hanna is kind to y'all.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I took the test and was76% Dixie , then on the advanced I was 86% Do you still use Confederate money? My DH says you can take the girl out of OK but you can't take the Okie out of the girl........I was 10 when we moved north.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Jaye-please make sure to check in with us-I am getting ulcers...some of my Aunties and swap buddies will have mail today:)

Marion-that was hilarious-thanks!!

Well ladies I am 43% Dixie-barely in Yankeedom:( Andvanced I am 29%-a dandy Yankee Doodle!!ROFL!!! I guess there is no hope for me!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Where is everyone today?? It is 8am and I am still all alone:(

Hello out there, heeeelooo, heelllloooo-see there is an echo...

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

morning PBJ

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning ladies. I'm DEFINATELY a yankee. The good thing is, I found out the difference between a yankee and a d**n yankee and I am a yankee. Kathy on the other hand is a da*n yankee. :o)

I scored 46 and 31%s. Funny. I've lived in Ohio most of my life, with the exception of North Carolina when my ex was in the service and Germany for the same reason. Guess that stay in NC didn't rub much off on me!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Howdieeeeeeeee!! Yankees and Southerners!
Am here ^_^ It's predicted now we're gonna get minimal hurricane tomorrow morning. Poor Kel, wishing for a break one Saturday, and it will be for a hurricane...
Looks like Ike's gonna be the devil!! Don't quit praying Sistahs..
Hey niece, definitely a box of Tums for you for your b'day!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sis, you and kel are welcome to come to my house. debroha and larry too

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Joyce, you'd make a sweet, cute & a most loveable yankee spokesperson and represent the northern folk well if you'd run for that position. I'd vote for you! I did an overseas trade and that DG friend called me a yankee of all people. I said, "Watchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis"

Oh, Jaye I pray for a safe storm ride!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

96% Dixie here. That's cute!

Marion, thanks for sharing the list of comparisons. Definitely grin worthy!

Does anyone else use the term it 'tipped over'? instead of it 'fell over'? Someone told me that was a 'Southern' thing.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Deb that's too funny!!! You a YANKEE??? Wonder what that friend would call me!!

Sis Kathy is having two of her daughters come today. The one from NY and the one from FL. She just heard the car broke down, so she's probably going to be AWOL for awhile. I told her at least someone could help with the leftovers now!

Praying for you girls...we are finally getting a little rain. YAY!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Depends...if it's big, it fell over. If it's little (like a glass) it tipped over.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

That makes sense.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Ah, yeah, that definitely makes sense. That big 'ol oak tree did not tip over onto our road! LOL!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

"Turnt or Tipped depending on how far it fell. "Ooopsy, I tipped over my tea glass" "Dagumit, I turnt over that cake right on to the floor".

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi Deb.. I heard this over and over in southern Louisiana. Prone to use 'off' instead of over no matter what the size is.
"Meh sha' dat tree fell off...."

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Sista's.
Hope y'all had a good nite! I had a good time in San Antonio. I got my dad, transferred to my Sisiter and she is flying to Michigan as we type. Last nite for dinner we went to Chusk E Cheeze for my grandson's 4th birthday party. We had a blast.
Now I am off for a nap, as I have been up since 3:00am...
Talk to you all later.

Anyone else watching Michael Buble' on the Today Show? Big sigh........ :)

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LK, Your grandson is a cuttie. How many grandchildren do you have?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Louisiana has some unique sayings, unlike anywhere else. Same with mountain folk and folks living around the Okefenokee Swamp. I guess that can also be said about folks in Maine, Boston and other parts of the USA. Depends on the rearing. For the most part, it's as much about the dialect as it is about the accent. I know I can tear up the English language sumptin fearse.

Linda Kay, get yourself a nap, gf. You gotta be slap wore out. I'm glad your Dad is recovering. Now it will be your turn.

I missed that show, Debra.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Mornin Ladies...

WOW... ya'll all get up with the chickens, don't cha? I slept in this morn cause I tipped over the dish soap last night, and stayed up half the night cleanin that mess off my floor. Ended up cleanin' the whole kitchen floor afore I turned in. Was midnight thirty 'fore I could get any shut eye. Then, in the wee hours of the night, I had to pee and knocked over the mop on my way to the outhouse. Scared the bejeebees out of me, and I liked to never got back to sleep.

LK, why did you get up so early to drive home... I think I'd still be there hugging on that cutie you call a g'son...

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I love to hear him sing "Me and Mrs. Jones"!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I so want to go back to New Orleans, favorite place in the entire world....

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Bj, funny, gf, I heard you stumbling over that mop way over here in GA!

Never been to NO but I want to go. Mama and Daddy went once. They enjoyed the river boat ride. I want to canoe in the swamp. I love the sounds in a swamp.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Sisters, my SIL has been diagnosed with siroces of the liver. She only has 2% of her liver left. Please pray for her. Her name is Debra Kay, and is 51 years old with 2 children and 2 grand children. It is not caused from alcohol as she don't drink. It is caused by Halls Cough drops. She eats 3-4 bags a day.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry, Deborah, if I woke you up...

I think a canoe in the swamps of Louisiana is called a piroque... not sure, but maybe Jaye can tell us.

Just drew my card from my TO DO jar... and guess what... I got "clean out he lower cabinets in the kitchen"... so, guess my kitchen is going to get a thorough cleaning today... I'm already on a roll here.
