WOW! You guys move fast!
I only have a second to check in. Wanted to let you all know that Dad did well in his surgery yesterday. They replaced the heart valve and put a tube in his aorta which was heavy with plaque. They took the breathing tube out at 11:00 pm last night and he had a good night. They are getting him up for sitting and walking today. Thanks for all your prayers..I felt them!
On another subject. Once again I wanted to say thank you to all those of you who have made donations on Jordyns behalf for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and thank you also for your prayers for her. Here is a you-tube bit that my daughter Lisa, made up to give you a little insight into this brave, strong girls' world.

Gotta run, but I'll catch up soon!
Love you!

Mornin girls
Stacy the recipe makes 2 pies and I recommend using the deep dish crust or pans or you will have left over mousse.
It goes so fast I've never halved the recipe to make just one pie.
Tia my thoughts and prayers wtih you and family for your aunt.
OMG... I just got all choked up watching that film... I'm so praying for that little girl...
Oh, and BTW... Jordyn resembles her grandma... beautiful girl.
I just emailed that url to everyone on my list...
Phyllis I ask cuz it is just me & DH, so I would only do 1 pie:) Thanks
I have to wait til I get home to watch the video:(
Jordyn is such a beautiful sweetheart! I pray with all of you for Jordyn's continued strength to stay several steps ahead of this disease. Let's all keep the walk going until a cure is found.
Joyce, so glad to hear your dad is doing well. He'll be out and about and enjoying his regular activities real soon. Prayers continue for both of your dear ones.
Well that link made me cry...how very touching...what an absolutely gorgeous young woman...
many of us who have had loved ones die from such diseases know the only way they will find cures is through the generosity of people such as we...
.......and Jordyn is a beauty!!! Joycet what a wonderful site--I have chill bumps all over me just watching it. So glad you Dad is doing well; I know that is relief to all the family.
Well ladies don't expect any southern drawl here!! Don't think I have one.
Tia, you came to the a very generous group of Sistahs, when it comes to prayers. Will surely include your family in ours..
Good Lord! Jordyn is such a lovely little lady. Thanks Joyce.
I emailed that link to my family where there are 5 diabetics and one with JD.. little Siti. Jordyn's lucky to be in great ole USA cause we are more aware of this disease, and she's able to lead a more normal life.
I have to send sugar free luxuries to Europe and Asia...
Oh yeah...howdyyyyyyy padnuhhhhhhhhhhh!!
Thank you all...I cry everytime I watch it. Yesterday as my Mom was watching it, I just listened to the music instead of concentrating on the pictures of Jordyn and that made me cry even MORE!!!
She really is a sweet girl inside is just as pretty as the outside...She has a great sense of humor, too.
Why don't ya'll (I'm an honorary southern gal ya know) come and walk with us on the 4th!!
Did you say that with your Asian Cajun accent? LOL
Tia, my prayers are added also. Sorry I didn't post it earlier.
Joyce, I'd love nothing more than to walk with you... but I'll not be able to do that this year.
My heart and spirit will be with you, though.
Give Jordyn a hug for me...
Thanks Jaye. the one good thing she is not in any pain, she can have as much meds as she wants. This is my moms mothers sister in law, we lost her hubby about 4 years ago(which is my grandmothers oldest brother). It has been a death filled year for this side of the family, lost 2 other great uncle and a 2nd cousin.
One thing that is on a good side today my cousin's daughter was put in the hospital today to haver her 1st baby.(same side of the family).
Thanks Marion.
BTW... When Joyce received the donation Kathy collected for her from us all... she called Jordyn to tell her. Jordyn immediately had to talk to each and every one of us there at Kathy's... and she was so sweet on the phone... yes, she sounds like one of the sweetest girls I've ever talked to.
I will be there in spirit.
Now ladies I must chime in with something that is near and dear to me:
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month. Please, please, please have you hubby, friends, whatever go for checkups. In spite of regular checks this can be lurking out there; so ,if not satisfied with results of PSA seek other advice and test!!!!!!! This may be the "safest one to have" but there is also a very aggressive one you don't hear about that often. Don't hesitate to questions test reports: ASK QUESTIONS, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Marion, Kel's due for THE GLOVE in a couple weeks' time!! Lolol!!
Joyce, I think we should find a way to repurpose pen needles' caps, instead of throwing them. We might turn it into Diabetic Art.. hey BJ, if we send you some, you think you might come up with something?
Tia, just hang in there...
...not only the glove but the needle--blood test also. Our son had to start being tested at 35!! If he hadn't taken such good care of hisself I could have understood better but he did--better than I did!!! Won't go there--to rough.
Jaye, I had the same thought. There must be something that could be done with those caps. Just what?
Lolol!!! Marion, Kel says, just thinking of THE GLOVE gives him the heevy jeebies---need you remind him of the needle as well!!
For every penny we can get from each cap, the JDRF will be well funded.
Send me a few of those caps... I might have an idea... but I need to see them first.
yea I would have to see them to come up with something.
Thanks BJ, I'll send you some..
I'll send you a couple too Tia.
can you take a pic of them?
Jaye, tell Kel I would much rather have him around so I could meet him than have him forgo because of the "glove" or the "needle". Those are minor issues compared to what one goes through if diagnosised with the aggressive form. I know==witnessed it first hand and my prayer is no man should go throught that!!!
Beside it could be worse--just think "Michael Jackson's glove". LOL
He says..."OUCH"
Jaye, please take a pic of the cap for Tia & I to see what it looks like. We already have our thinking caps on.
umm what can I say here with this topic ...LOL..
I know its not anything funny to joke about as I know of a man I used to work wtih that had problems and my own dad has issues. DH is going for a physical as soon as his medicare insurance kicks in.
Other then that the one thing that does come to mind is a joke I received several years ago and for some reason it stuck in my head ...had to do wtih a guy going to the doctor with his wife for a physical and the doctor called the wife in and explained to her she needs to fix him 3 meals a day, clean the house and give him $ex 3 times a week.....when she returned to the husband he asked what the doc said and she replied "Your gonna die"
now mind you that may not be the total correct joke but that is the just of it.
what are pen needles' caps?????
Hello everyone, just skipping over the threads, I will catch up Friday afternoon when I get back online. Off to theairport to take my Dad to Michigan. My Sister is flying in tonight, then she will take Dad with her, and I will be back Friday...
Take care.
Linda Kay
prayers to Tia for your Aunt.
I tell DH when we talk about "the glove" that I get the "duck bill", the "water balloon squeeze" and other things every year and have since I was 18, so if has to have the "glove" starting at 40, then to zip it!! I will have been at it 22 years longer!!
Take care LK... drive safely.
You go girl, Fairy Lips... if they only knew what us women have to go through too.
I'm after Don to go get a check up... he had one 2 years ago, and says he's good for a while... but at his age, I think he should be checked every year.
Also, Son #1 is due... still after him.
KEWL... got some ideas... Tia and I are going to work together to come up with something. So, send a few to each of us to play around with.
THANKS
I bet you could use those kinda like legos and build with them and glue....
Be safe LK
You hear me BJ-I mean COME ON!!! A glove for for afew yrs and I think you only have to go every so many years until you get older or unless you have a family history-I mean come on-then when you are pregnant they are down there all the time!! I mean my goodness-that is a sacred treasure, not the drive thru at McD's!!
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, am I right ladies??
LOL!!
(((Tia)))
I'll tell Jordyn to start saving hers.
LOLOL... yea... I do know what you mean...
ROFLAMO drive thru at McD's ......
mmm ..on that cap the top is solid no hole in it?
doesn't mean a hole can't be poked in it... got my thinking cap on.
