♥Sweet Interruption♥ 18
i thought about your brunswick stew. i haven't had that since my grandmother died. i bet it was good, huh?
That's the one thing I can cook that Larry praises the most. The recipe is the National Brunswick Stew cookoff winner from Spanky's Bar and Grill in Brunswick Ga. (Where I lived as a kid)
You can cry on my shoulder, that's what sistahs are for.
I'm just a phone call away.
We all are.
i would love the recipe. pretty please sister?
i love you. you are so sweet
Coming up, I love you too!
Recipe from Spanky's Seafood Grill & Bar
World Famous Brunswick Stew
First the Sauce:
In a 2 Qt sauce pan, over low heat, melt 1/4 cup of butter then add:
1 3/4 cups of Catsup
1/4 cup of French's yellow mustard
1/4 cup of white vinegar
Blend until smooth, then add:
1/2 tablesppon chopped garlic
1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/2 oz. Liquid Smoke
1 oz. Worcestershire Sauce
1.oz. Crystal Hot Sauce or 1/2 oz Tabasco
1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Blend until smooth, then add:
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
Stir constantly, increase heat to simmer (DON NOT BOIL!!!) for
approx. 10 minutes
Makes approx. 31/2 cups of sauce (set this pot aside 0 to be added later)
Then The Stew:
In a 2 gallon pot, over low heat melt 1/4 lb of butter then add:
3 cups small diced potatoes
1 cup small diced onion
2 14 oz cans of chicken broth
1 lb baked chicken deboned (white and dark)
(I actually boil my chicken instead of baking it, so I'm using stock juice from the cooked chicken)
8-10 oz smoked pork (I use a lb of chopped smoked pork either Boston Butt or Shoulder)
Bring to a rolling boil, stirring until potatoes are near done, then add:
1 can of early peas (drained)
2 large cans of stewed tomatoes
The prepared sauce you fixed
1 can of baby lima beans
1/4 cup of Liquid Smoke
1 can of creamed corn (I use 2 cans)
Slow simmer for 2 hours
Yields 1 gallon (or more)
This recipe doesn't call for adding salt. When finished, I taste test, then add salt if I think it needs it)
yummy I will make that tomorrow, tonight is beans and taters and sweet cornbread.
thanks sis. now i'm drooling
gotta go get a bib
Tia, yummy, slice an onion and I'll be over.

we are having lasagna tonite. turkey tomorrow
See why I was needing your left over ribs and turkey? Those meats would be perfect!
Leftover Lasagna. I can't believe there is any leftover.
Oh gosh thanks Deborah, we were just talking about him the other day and we couldnt remember his name. Cant have beans with out a slice of onion and a slice of homegrown maters. Will set ya a place.
there won't be after tonite!
are you ready fr hanna, just in case? you and larry can come here
I liked him too Tia. I loved the way he measured ingredients. Just used the palm of his hand or turned the bottle and poured stuff in the pot.
tia, i'll bring the chow-chow
oh yes oh yes, I have not been able to make any this year.
And about the wine, if you cant drink it, it aint worth cooking with.
Oh, I know where you live now. Be expecting me on your next big cookout! I need to get a Hanna forcast from BJ. Is she still asleep?
Tia, has these hurricanes been stirring up and tornadoes your way?
Mornin Ladies
Just asked Don if he likes Brunswick Stew, and he said "whuts dat?"... I said... we're gonna find out today... sounds yummy.
YOU DROPPED THAT YUMMY CAKE?.... darn... glad I had a chance to taste it first...
Set me a place too Tia... Don doesn't do Beans & Cornbread... he's not a southern boy, and I love them.
Oh I remember him saying that about the wine.
brb with that weather report...
Ok weather girl, what's Hanna gonna do to me in south GA and Marion in north Fla. panhandle?
brb? You know I can't spell.
I think you and Marion are safe from Hanna... but Jaye might get some of the storms.
Hanna's going to skirt the Atlantic shore all the way to NY....
it means be right back
Oh dear, and she's on the coast or very very close to it.
Doesn't look like Hanna is going to be a land lover... just going to follow the beach all the way north.

No naders as of yet, this storm is hitting eastern Oklahoma for now. We are getting drizzle but nothing real bad. Dont know what Hannah or Ike are going to do to us yet. Looks like they will be on their way to us next wednesday.
all places will be set for all you gals.
Tia, we won't see any of Hanna... too early to tell about Ike and Josephine yet.
Morning everyone. Kathy, sorry to hear you dropped the cake!
Bad weather may be popping up again, so keep an eye on the forcast, and be carefull.
Marion, how are you doing? Hope you got rested up.
Linda Kay
Mornin LK... how are you?
linda kay, it was one of the best cakes i ever made
That is good about Hannah. On them storms do they start back at A in a new season or start off where left off on the next year?
what kind of cake?
They start all over each year with the alpha names... but don't repeat names for six years... or more.
Tia, it was a wonderful cake with orange jello stripes running all through it, and a whipped french vanilla icing she made herself. SOOOOO delicious.
