Well, something got ahold of one of the guinnes... so now there are only 8 of them... the rest of them are fine... and the yard dog and his wife are just plain sexy.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

My Sistah BJ has gone to the feathers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

OH you bet BJ I will be there, hmmmmmm wondering about that baileys tho. I guess I could hide it in my coffee, so I would be wide awake for the weekend.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Deborah should be home by now... wish she'd call me so I'd know she's ok.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Fried turkey sandwich????? Surely next year Sis will bring a fried turkey with her!
Glad you made it home safe Deborah. I still say you wear the wrong colors :D

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't forget a trip to Canada???? now wouldn't that be special..we could do crafts..lol..

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Hey there, Jaye and Betty! I haven't unpacked my suitcase yet but I sure hope I left something. I'd go back first thang in the morning. Kathy and Michael can lay a spread like nobody's business! When I got there Saturday, everyone was eating and when I left this morning, they were still eating! Jaye, your pickles were great too! So crispy and not too sweet, just right! You should label them for sale just like Kathy should for her jams and chow-chow.
Betty, a trip to Canada for crafts would be fun! We played poker at Kathy's.
Jaye, now you know red and black runs through my veins. And yes, I did hope I worried that Auburn guy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good lord, I go away for the afternoon, and this room has filled up. Looks like you all were waiting for the sista's to get back home. What is butter tarts?
Glad to hear everyone is doing ok. have a good nite sleep.
Linda Kay

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well lets see now. I haven't the foggiest idea what Jaye means about idoitic things--who this group? Jaye, something wrong with you tonight honey? Nah, not us.

Bags still packed, how about you Deborah? I know the way to Betty's, more than ready to turn around and return to some no humidity weather and my car is full!! Need I say more? Oh Betty, that would be such fun if we could all get together and drive up to see you--or fly what ever!! Count me in for sure when that time comes. Oh my but a late September or October trip?

Hello Tia, glad you found everyone here. It also pays to be just a wee bit off of the center. LOL I'll bring you plenty of Baileys. Okay?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Just about the most delicious, calorie free treat you would ever want to eat!!! Filling very much like pecan pie but with raisins in mine. You can have other things in the filling but ........ So you see--absolutely no calories!!

Raleigh, NC

wishing everyone a good night, can't read anymore, and it's all fun.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's a swell idea!! A craft filled weekend at Betty's... Lord, I'm tired already!!
No calorie is the best food group for us damsels. Gonna have to look for butter tarts recipe. Is it anything like minced meat pies, Marion?
Well Deb.. ANYTHING can send any Auburn guys worrying!!! LOL!!!
Joyce, are you home yet?
Joey, let us know how you're doing dear one. You know us, we worry too much...
Have a good night sleep everyone.
Stacey must be sleeping with a smile knowing her Aunts are safely home.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Butter tarts, calorie free?, yea right. Pass me some.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So far it sounds good, I will have to look for the recipe also.
Linda Kay

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Don't unpack, Marion. I hope I left something at Kathy's and you can go with me to get it. Kathy, did I leave my red bedroom shoes? Marion, we missed you. Audrey was lonely in her bed. BJ and I snuggled in a king size bed, while Joyce sleep between Kathy and Michael....outside somewheres.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Linda Kay, if you find the recipe, please share.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

When you need to go Deborah? Still packed and ready!!! I missed you all too and am sure it would have been much less stress. Why does something like this bring out the worst in families? Few upsets between nieces and nephew; mainly some just weren't willing to accept what the wishes were and ventured out to do as they wanted. Unfortunately I was the "ogre" who had to bring them back to their senses. Just very very grateful they realized how close we were and if I knew the his plan then it must have been right. Urrrrgh!!!

I am ready to pick you up, go gather up Jaye and head to Betty's. Name the date!! Bj can flying into Tally and off we shall go--next stop Canada. Passports ready everyone? Well birth certificate and photo ID will do it.

Watch it Betty we are headed your way!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Evenin Ladies I just stumbled in while looking around I've been a DGer for a year now and still find wonderful places to go in here.
what kind of tarts are ya lookin for?
my grandma used to make some with left over pie crust and make them either raisin or like a mini pecan pie.

Raisin tarts
prepare crust as for pie
roll out and cut out circles to fit muffin pan.

combine
1/2 C. sugar
1 egg (beaten)
1/2 C. Raisins
1 tablespoon melted butter
bake at 350 for 30 min.

Is this the one???

BUTTER TARTS
Categories: Canadian, Pie
Yield: 1 servings

1/4 c Butter
1/2 c Brown sugar; packed
1/2 ts Vanilla
1 Egg
1/2 c Corn syrup
1/2 c Raisins; or currants
12 Tart shells;lined with pastry dough

"These tarts were the basis for Butter Tart Pie and Butter Tart
Squares which appeared in later decades. Another variation uses maple syrup instead of corn syrup. ...Butter Tarts are uniquely Canadian. There are theories whether they were adpated from southern pecan pie, old-fashioned sugar pies, or maple syrup, bakcwoods or vinegar pies. Squabbles arise whether or not the tarts should be runny or not, and just how runny. Opnions differ about the use of syrup or sugar only, eggs beaten or not, currants or raisins, and how the tart pans should be filled."
In bowl, cream together butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in egg and corn syrup. Spoon raisins into tart shells; pour in the filling, two-thirds full. Bake in 375F oven for 15 to 18 minutes or until lightly browned. MAKES: 12 TARTS

Yeap that sure looks like one to me. There are many, many I am sure--just about as many recipes for the tarts as we have for pecan pies.

I was given a copy of Canadian Living from my nephew and this month's feature is maple flavored tarts. When my brain isn't so fuzzy will post the recipe for you, Linda Kay. How would that be. I will take out all the calories. LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

MMMMMMMMM, sounds good, and easy! No calories??? LOL
That will be the day!
Sweet dreams to all.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Mibus2, I'll try your raisin tarts and the Canadian butter tarts. Now from where I come from in south Ga., when tarts are mentioned they are deep fried. Apple tarts and peach tarts. Y'all's recipe calls for them to be baked like a pie but in small tart tins?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

yes they are done in tart tins or a muffin tin whatever you want to call it LOL
my grandma sometimes changed the raisins to chopped nuts for something different but they were good either way.

Hi Deborah and thanks
oh food on the mind is not a bad thing all the time LOL
The best recipes are the ones share among friends that have been in families for years.
