my mother gave me mine!!

and can I say I hate the fact that people hide behind their made up names.

I only ever used one once to get in the back door of that other place.

Mark, I know what you mean about hiding behind a make believe name but it is better than being a number! On many site I would be Brenda9997859974412! I think I'll stick with Zanymuse!

On matters of serious import, I distrust those who will not reveal their identity to me.

In E-mail, for example, I give my full and complete name in the "From" headers. I used to love when Captain Picard (Star Trek), when introducing himself to someone who did not also give their name, would say: "And I am afraid that now you have the advantage." It really explains it all.

Hey we've heard from lots of you there are still lot's of names I would like to know about floating around out there. So come on in take your shoes off,sit back relax,read the thread and spill your guts..... he he .... Mark I see where your coming from but I don't think anybody here is trying to hide behind a name there are several Peggy's here and I would have to be Peggy123241324 or whatever this way gives us a little of our own personality. It just adds a little bit of fun to it. Beside's most people find their own name boring and like to have a new one even if its for a small(or large) amount of time they run through the posts.No harm no foul!There is nothing wrong if you where lucky enough to get to use your name and it wasn't taken already. Thats great and its easier to know who you are but I have to admit I kinda like the mystery of it all and its been great fun learning why everybody choose their name. And hey Brenda(Zany) you will always be Zany to me. lol And Jeanne you really had me going I thought you was really going to tell us some deep dark secret. lol

Horseshoe, I keep checking back to see if you are ever going to spill the beans about how you got that name. I am now starting to wonder if you spilled the beans and started making some of that bean wine! I don't mind getting a bit misty eyed now and then so out with the story!

Well, I just signed up yesterday at the urging of Blond_Elf (Laura). You could say that we are old friend from another site. I just read all of this thread and enjoyed getting to know you all. Well, my real name is top secret. If I ever enter into a trade, I will give my birth name. So, Lucille is the name of my sweet little girl cat, Lucy for short. I also call her Sweet Cheeks but didn't think that would work here.

I have a friend that carves those old-time mountain man faces with the full beard and the dumb pointy hat. They're called woodspirits. I also am enchanted with the Irish stories of wood spirits, sprites, leprachauns and other little pixie types even though I don't believe in that stuff or ghosts either. I just thought it was a charming expression for a person who has shady & woodland gardens and whose home county is 2/5 national forest.

Well I was HortiHoney you know where and I liked it but decided to be Honibee here because I am as sweet as honey.LOL

I have senior moments these days and am always afraid of changing my name to something clever, that I'll forget. I tried, Pat, Patt, Trish, and then in frustration, just wrote "Myself"--so I take the prize for not being very creative. Wonder what that name "Myself" says about me--as when I read all the other explanations for names, it seems to show a little of everyone's personality. My name is Patricia, aka Pat.

Well when I found DG, I was looking for toadlily seeds for trade, but in order to post, I needed to sign in with a name. I don't post often, still a little shy after recieving a free trip from another site back in June, but have had the pleasure of getting to know a few of you. I visit here often, almost every day, and am so thankful to Dave and Trish for giving us a wonderful place to meet other gardening friends.A few of you who have traded with me, as well as my employer and ALL of my friends know me as Leisa...but the truth is, my real name is Leisel. Dating myself here, but my mother became pregnant with me a year after the Sound of Music came out and there is where my REAL name comes from. I shortened it in high school after being teased terriblly. I am over that now, but have just never gone back to Leisel because no one can ever pronounce it correctly, and that drives me crazy!LOL

This is great! Since my last post I have learned that Hosta's were called Funkia, that Lucy is a mystery person witha sweet cheeked kitty, That Honibee is sweet (already figured that out!) That I can be Me but not Myself cause Myself is someone else! I can now pronounce Martela and had to look up Toadlily to see what the plant looked like.

Hey Starzz, my third daughter is name Carlynne, pronounced Car lynne. We call her Carly. Anyway, it is a variation of Carol or Carolyn. You would be amazed how many people call her Carolyn anyway. ha ha

I had an aunt whose name was Louise - she died last year and I miss her! When I was a child we would go for walks nearly every weekend which usually entailed visiting a garden. She loved classical music and introduced me to opera at a very early age. That was back home of course. Now here I am, across the pond, living in Virginia in a county called.....Louisa!! Many of you know me already as Margaret!! :-)

I got the idea from the comic book that was called the Silver Surfer,being a comic book collector and loving all the ones that girls are suppose to hate I decided to change it just a little bit. Seeing the Silver Surfer gliding around on his board made me think of ridding the wind, that is when I became Windsruffer. I also go by the name Windridder because I would just love to soar with the wind.
I am affraid of planes but not flying, If I could soar without the plane I would fly over each and everyone of your houses stealing your lovely flowers...well maybe just a little piece of them and blame it on Stanta lol.

My name is to evoke thoughts of witchiness and any other estrogenic (is that a real word?) moment I might incur during mid-life. Actually it was started by me and four other soul sisters at a time when we were approaching the 40's several years ago. I was the oldest and had already crossed over and we loved grinching to each other and loved blaming it all on the pituataries. We really didn't want to take on any more responsibilities for our actions and decided being an Ella would be a suitable alter-ego. We never were very viscious but we became professional grinchers at any given moment and we owned lots of chocolate. Thus I embraced Shrewella like a huge chocolate swirled cheesecake and kept her ever since.

When we got our computer, my DH didn't want me to use my real name, Julie (although I usually put it at the end of each post). dignbloom just came to me - more of hoping that is what would happen in my garden when I first started here. I must admit I am a DG addict, lurking usually, just soaking up the info! Julie

At the "other" site I was Bradsmom, now that I am expecting again I needed to come up with a new name. So after lots of thought (yeah right) I decided on brad_cj which stands for Brad and C.J. the name of the new baby. (Whether its a girl or boy the names we have chosen will let me nickname them C.J.) But I am really just -- Pam.

When I worked there was only me called sue, then another sue joined, and another, and another, so we became sueone suetwo, suethree and suefour. And as I have a terrible memory I have to stick with what I know and can remember :-]
Just as well I was 'one' cos even after years of working with them I still can,t remember which is which !I,ve even signed cheques as sueone if I don,t concentrate.
On the names of children, we called our daughter Jasmin. We went on honeymoon with not much money, was at a night-club type place where they were selling jasmine 'necklaces' and we didn,t have any money to buy one. I said that when I could afford it I would buy and grow my own jasmine, which I did, and when she came along,that,s what we called her, She loves to hear the story over and over.
