How did you pick your name?

i live on a farm i will be always be a girl don't like that woman thing makes me feel to mature and i had 21 birds. last count i have 37 birds that number goes up and down. my old user name was after my horse but now that i'm in a garden club farmgirl21 fits. my real name is nancy.

Interesting thread! I'm one that just goes by my own name here too. Not too common of a name(there are others) but I joined Dave's early enough that no one else had taken it yet! :) I do go by Joyful flowers on another site. I think that name just speaks for it's self! (I love flowers and my name is Joy). Joy

Our carpet in our bedroom - computer room combo is white. Why I don't know except it was given to us by one of my sons and I didn't want to hurt him by not using the carpet. Mine is just mundane....being my real first name, Darius, which I took legally about age 44... it is a Greek derivation of an old Sanscrit word meaning 'of the mountain', and I both love it, and think appropriate, since I now live in the mountains I love! (But I did it because of discrimination about women in the building trades.)

Blonde Elf... I might have been LBP, which my housemate calls me ... standing for Little Blonde Person! (Really I am mostly blonde now but used to be a redhead/strawberry blonde, LOL!)

Dave, I like thinking of you as 'Dave' much better than 'Lone Wolf' or 'Sirwolf'... LOL... NO seeming pretensions there, and Trish seems so much more friendly online as Trish than 'Ladywolf'.

Well,no creativity here!! I have been Gwist for all of 37 years,and I can't change it now :)! I still think I am one of a kind,but I have met crazier LOL!I was known as the "White Rabbit" for a while during my school years..I guess any Lewis Carroll fan would know why! If you want to know the real meaning of Gwist,you have to ask my mother :).

Since I have only had a computer for a little over a year, and I found the (other) site first, I didn't have a NAME yet. So when I first logged on to the other site, I was just Donna from SoCal. The socal is in my email addy. When I came here, there wasn't anyone from Calif. yet, so I decided to become SoCal. I wanted to be BigRed, but I started losing alot of weight and decided against it, so glad I did as I am no longer BIG. I have lost 52 lbs. since I have been here, and let me tell you, I cannot stand reading all of those great recipes on the Recipe forum anymore. I just can't eat that good stuff anymore.
I live close to the ocean and not too far from Disneyland, so if any of you are coming this way for a visit, you have to let me know and we can do some great visiting.

Wow, wow! It's getting very homely. Suspense of curious screen-names revealed. Mine is pretty simple though. Just a short, easy to call "Dinu" for Dinakar. (The Sanskrit meaning of my name: The Sun - one who gives light to the world.) This is how people close to me, in my family, friends, have called me ever since I was a child. We have a tradition where the wife does not call her husband by his name. Calling his name is considered as disrespect. So, she normally calls out "Reeee"!

I have been trading on various websites for three and a half years since we first got a modem. That is how long I have been 'Badseed'. I have taken lots of ribbing and questions, as people actually think/thought I would send them BAD SEEDS. LOL When we got our modem and I had to sign up, I had to pick a name. I tried every combination of my name and initials, as well as every garden related name I could think of. At that time, I was mostly into veggies and herbs. Anyway, they were all taken. When I stole my hubby from his mother, he was 28 and I was 23. She always called me a bad egg for taking her last baby. I took the bad from that and the seed because I love growing from seed. A couple of hours later, I discovered the websites for trading seeds and plants. My first posting/reply was my first indication that maybe badseed was not the best name for someone trying to trade seeds. LOL I had already used the name to sign up and talk to people and had given it to a few people and at that time, and didn't realize how easy it would have been to change it. I also didn't know that it was the name of an old movie about a mentally disturbed little girl that killed people. Now it is a name that is kind of stuck with me because I have used it to make make hundreds of friends and hundreds of trades. I guess it is only disturbing to people that don't know me, or people that think they might get burned in a trade. LOL I think and have thought often, of changing it, but cannot decide what I would change it to. One night in chat, as things get twisted around as new answers are entered, it came about that my new name should be Pea Pod, which Louisa liked very much. :) That is because I am pregnant every other year-pea in the pod. I am 'ripening the fifth pea' now. I still don't know if or what I will do with my name. Guess in a few years, I will be the 'old lady that lives in a shoe'. For now, I am still badseed, but trust me y'all, it has nothing to do with my seeds. LOL

My Mom said it's time to explain my name! First it's all her doing and not one I would pick but not to take up DG space I took over the name! She started this one to help others out and give them a lift! She sent out all her seeds! I asked for a site so I could post some of my photos so I took over. Pebble is my real name. My fathers name was Stony, and when I was born, I was his little Pebble. I was born and raised in Turkey, and had not even heard of the flintstones till I was a teenager and came back to the US when my father retired..You can image my surprise when someone first asked me where bam bam was? talk about culture shock!

When I signed on to Daves it was early and mystic was not taken. Every other site mystic was always taken so I have a form of it. It is not hard to guess where my name comes from.. :)

My name wasn't very imaginative either. Kelly is my real name...Im a woman. K E L L Y before all the fancy spellings started. I was born in '59 when you heard more guy "Kelly's" than female Kelly's in school. I guess this is what prompted the name spelling change to avoid confusion of gender.
The 3 is for the Holy Trinity...Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I didn't want people to think I was just Kelly3 cause Kelly 1 and 2 beat me to the name...thus the 333. ROTFL.

Mystic, Great thread I love reading how people choose their user names. My user name is sort of self explanatory, not very exciting. I live in Texas and I'm a daylily addict. My love for my native state and daylilies, I ended up with Texaslily. My birth name is Connie, but my favorite name to be called is Nonnie, by my three Grandkids! My oldest and only Grandson tagged me Nonnie and I love it! I think he was trying to say Connie and it came out Nonnie and I really didn't want to be called Granny. I'm just to young and not formal enough to be called Grandmother. Well some might say old but not me. Except when I've worked in the garden all day and the next day I have trouble moving,lol! Me to Mystic if you need another Nonnie to spoil those sweet babies I'm available.

I became Old_rose here because that is all that I had to start my garden with one old, neglected, overgrown rose bush. Which is doing great now. My real name is Sandy but now sign sandy2 here because Sdoglover is the original Sandy and I would not want anyone to ask me for advise instead of the real sandy yikes!!!! no I am just leaning from all you wonderful people.

I became Ms.perLite about 10 years ago when I became a volunteer "producer" for a horticulture teacher's radio gardening program. (the job was answering the phone & lining up callers.) For some reason, all his producers had used fake air names, with Pete Moss and Mr.Mulch being favourites. I love telling folks I was once a Famous Radio Producer. This worked out well. When I later became next to homeless, my teacher, having become a friend, gave me a job in his retail nursery. (a Dave. Daves are good people in my experience!)
The job fed me and my daughter for 3 years, until I recovered emotionally from various losses and went back to a (triple the income) healthcare job. Many folks at the nursery still think my name is PerL. I chose it because I do mostly indoor gardening, and use lots of perlite in my mixes. I'm really Karima.

This is a fun one!! When I first needed a nickname, I tried all kinds of combinations of my name Jackie but all seemed to be taken. Also all of the flowers seemed to be taken, so I decided to use my favorite plant, talinum. Check out the DB to see the plant no one has ever heard of.

and the computer speaks to an astronaut near the end of the movie , the astronauts name: DAVE. Remember? The computer had Artificial Intelligence, and tells Dave, not to shut him down. I joined here in the year 2001!

Well gee, my wife is gardenwife. She told me she found a real neat site called davesgarden and that I should take a look at it. So she preseeded to sign me up and of course gave me the name gardenhubby. I told her hubby sounded to mushy but I'm getting used to it :-)
