I know it strikes me as odd when I see someone besides myself called - Cheryl.
How did you pick your name?
I don't think there are any other Mendy's here, but I could be wrong. ;o)
Well mine's a bit boring too, lol. I had just visited a tea tree ( Melaleuca alternifolia ) plantation. It's a native Australian plant with many interesting properties. When crushed and distilled, the leaves of this plant yield a 100% natural oil which, amongst other things, is a very effective antiseptic and fungicide, I do have that particular tree in my yard though! ;-)
Great to see so many new folks posting. I love to hear all the reasons we pick out names. Welcome to DG to all the recent members that have just joined. tea_tree you live in the one place that I want to really visit someday. Maybe someday I will get there.
I'm weegy12 because my nickname weasy is always taken. Quite a few years ago my neighbors' grandchildren started calling me weegy...the 12 was added because alot of usernames call for more than 4 characters, I use weegy12 on everything that needs a username so this old brain can remember! My name is Louise, hence the Weasy...remember Weasy Jefferson!?!?? I use the same password or I'd never remember anything. This is fun and this is one of the longest threads I've ever seen!
Thank you Carol.
Well, I've become a free bird in my old age of 35. I've become free from my childhood's religious brain washing. My first year in my own home, and I feel free. I am a bird who loves to fly away and come back. I am free in USA, one of the greatest countries on earth. (I came from Hungary in 1984 at age 14)
Love, Paulina
Welcome Paulina, We are happy to have you on Daves Garden and the USA
Welcome Paulina - much happiness here in the wonderful USA to you, too!
Enjoy this site very much. Kami is the name of my cat and I was going to use it as a password but had to have at least six letters, so Kamikid was the name I came up with. The folks on this site are truly beautiful people and I love the information they give to anyone that asks.
Carmen Ghia! Haven't seen one in awhile. If you click on your picture, it enlarges.
SWEET!!!!
Janis
LOL at Elaine!
YOU KNOW WHAT???????
On the Recipes Forum there was a thread that went on and on about the "Sopapilla Cheesecake" and they were all saying how this has to be the longest thread ever on DG. I think it "died" a natural death at about 230-240 posts--or something.
Well, DAH!!!! Look at this thread! It surely is the champion of all threads by now. Yes??? No???? They ought to have a contest on whos thread creates the most posts/replies. Do we have any statistics on this subject?
Gee, Mystic! You started it, but you are part of the DG administration.
Hmmmm......You may not be eligible!
It has been interesting reading.
Gita
"Blu" on the jokes and chat forum has 1839 posts.

GoBlu!
YUP blu is the longest
go bu!!!! Whoohoo blu!!!!
Hah yes this one keeps coming back , I love going back and reading all the old post on it and seeing all the new ones.
I'm sure Dave does have the stats on the threads which reminds me of a request I made I need to go find. lol
Gitagal , It was never my intention to have the most post, as a matter of fact this one has been continued on 3 or 4 other threads. (Plus I was not an Admin at the time of this post )
That honor I just obtained in the last couple of years, but have loved every minute of it.
I would guess that Blu does have the record.
I just looked into the Blu Post. Geez! I could never read all of it, but I loved the "insanity" of the whole thing. This sure is a crazy bunch of people!!!
Go, you blue crew and do all the doo-doo you do so well! Who? Yes! You!
Gita
Crazy people?? LOL yes blu is hysterical and started out as a test thread trois started and with a few well placed comments it took flight with the new title of test for insanity.
Never started a new thread just kept the one going from time to time it becomes a see how long this can get thread a check in with friends thread and still all in keeping with the insanity!!!
Drop in you do not have to read all to join in and keep the fun going
Anne/blu
actually, I would think my thread called word association would be the longest. We've done continuation thread number 21 and still going strong! And to think I started the thread because I was bored!!!
Word is fun! It's amazing to see the answers we come up with and funny to see the ones we seem to repeat!
Well, I stole my dog's nickname. Someone asked about my screen name, so I will try to make a long story short. This story was NOT funny at the time. I have a pup named Scooter, he is a lab, husky mix, very silly and quite peculiar looking. Scooter liked to bolt out of doors. The is a very silly video game called 'CrashbandiCOOT".... it features a very silly, peculiar looking doglike character. (Scooter's head is to small for his body). Anyway....Someone opened the front door and Scooter bolted, ran across our street, with SO after him .... I'm on one side of the street, SO is on the other......Suddenly...a car comes SCREAMING around the corner and NAILS Scooter SO HARD that he does a full 360 flip around and up in the air, then lands flat on his back! Only to jump staight up and run to Mommy! The incident looked like one of 'CrashbandiCOOT's adventures! Scooter didn't seem to know what hit him, nor did he seem to care. He very quickly returned to his goofy self. We were very badly shaken. ( we had lost a dog to these streets) . Later, my darling SO took Scooter out to the restroom, and looked at the dog and said " Come on CrashbandiScoot" ! I laughed until I cried! I think mostly out of relief. Scoot ( for short) has never suffered any ill effects. He was goofy before the accident! Scooter has another nickname also, Ostriche Dog, but that's another story!
Great name, great story. Now I think we need to see a picture of this wild and crazy dog. LOL
BTW, did the car that hit him stop?
NoH20, Shoot, I wish I could show you a pic, the camera is broken, and you are right, he is wild and crazy. We got him when he was 7 weeks old and he just had his first b-day! I think the person that struck him might have been drunk or something 'cause they didn't even hit the brakes. At least I don't think they did. I'm trying to find your post ' cause I think your name is really cool.
There are three other threads on this topic: http://davesgarden.com/forums/p.php?pid=1943025
I am here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/p.php?pid=556473 Unfortunately, my area continues to get way too much H2O. As of March, we were 36" above normal precipitation since 2002. My yard slopes down and my neighbor has been raising his beds with mulch which has blocked the water from leaving my yard. I am learning to bog garden. LOL It really is amazing how many plants can survive standing water for months and then endure cracked cement in late summer.
Hey, thanks, I found you this morning! Very cool way to pick a name! I am never that creative. And I posted a reply on the River forum, I thought I did it here! I think maybe I've had too many crashes! SO doesn't even call the dog ''crash" anymore, I inherited the name on account I'm so graceful! lol............ bog gardening actually sounds pretty cool.
There has been speculation that my screen name is that of a bird which fits in well with DG. This however is not the case, the designation for the engineering types aboard Navy vessels is snipe. I quickly found that there are a lot of snipes in the cyberspace except for here, fortunate for me. In the rest of cyberspace I am known as snipe1038, the 1038 was the hull number off of my ship. My old command and her sister are now serving in the Mexican Navy.
Don :)
Well to most you'd say"ya a flower petal and possibly her age.
Nope ,Petal is the main character in a children's book on gardening I've been writing ."33" is her house number.
Also all female characters are named after flowers too.
I wanted ZouZou from ZouZou's petals from the movie "it a wonderful life" but it was taken.
Hi all, I love hearing how everyone came up with their name.
Here's my story- I am originally eaglemom62, This is because I love eagle and collect them, When i first joined groups I was using my family nickname which is Judybabe62 but then i started getting im's from weirdo's. I was just learning about groups and Iming so I stopped-Anyway I started joining more garden groups and actually started one with a friend and I wanted to have a garden type name-So i began thinking about what I do in the gardens-Everytime I got to fill the birdfeeders I toss seed on the ground here there and everywhere too. Also in the early days of gardening I would take some flowerseed and toos them about my yard-What took was meant to be ansd what didn't will put something else there-1 is for the the number I tried to use it. - I am Judy
The Yarapa is a river in Peru which feeds into the Amazon. I've spent a lot of time there and adopted two brothers who are originally from that area. Danny, the youngest (14) is a good hand in the garden. El Rio Yarapa is a plant and wildlife paradise, one of the most most biodiverse places on earth.
Take care all, Steve (Yarapa)
I was trying to find a way to identify with the restaurant I have an ownership in and where I live. I have been part of "Bubba's" since it was purchased from the original owner in 1990, and have been cooking Sunday Breakfast since November 1993. But I was doing lots of the carpentry and general maintenance before that. Computerized the books and captured all prior data (as good as could be done with hand-written records) in 1995 when I officially became an owner.
My real name is Bill.
This picture is pre-2000.
Glad I found this thread ! How neat to see and learn about you all.
I own a window tinting business so there's the shade making thing, but also because I have so much shade in my gardening areas.
I've recovered from a disastrous marriage. To his chagrin...and surprisingly...I am doing quite well on my own. Feeling like I finally have it "made in the shade". And since I'm a girl, I changed it to Maiden.
My real name is Connie.

I'm not to original. Used my name and age. Just said at work today though should have been tracy21 LOL
I wanted to express my love of plants, so I was going to name myself Texasplantlover, but that was too long. I am a fan of Saturday Night Live, and they had that skit with Will Ferrell and one of the lasses and they would say "luva" for lover....I thought that was funny. "you are my sexy luva". Pure silliness.
Anyway, that ran through my head as I was typing Texasplantlover, and that is how "texyplantluva" came about. It makes me giggle when I think of Will Ferrell saying it. :)
KY is my state and Joy is my name. When I first established my "name" I was doing a lot of genealogical work.
