Drink Coffee ?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

You know, there is some days it taste so good,I can't get enough, then days,it's ok,but I look for something else to quench my thirst, and that sometimes is a glass of ice tea,go figure!!!

Santa Fe, NM

I like ice tea more than coffee in the summer except in the morning. I had some horrible ginger spice coffee once that nearly made me cry! How can they do that to coffee? Pumpkin coffee sounds ghastly, too. I've never had licorice coffee but they put it in herb tea constantly and It's awful. I also hate hibiscus herb tea. I hope they don't try that in coffee.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Used to drink Cains coffee at work, this was years ago,but I was wondering if it was available where you all live?

(Zone 7a)

I've never hard of Cains. On occassion we get the Sam's Club Rainforest coffee or Costco has one we like, too.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Do you have kroger stores there?

(Zone 7a)

Yes. Only there called Smith's Marketplace here. Kroger took over our local Smith's stores. Do they have Cain's?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Well the ones here do,but the stores are called Dillons, owned by Kroger.
Its like none of the stores here, not any in fact, carry Cherrios Vanilla Burst, but I fill out a order form and they get it for me,6 boxes at a time.

(Zone 7a)

I'll look and see if they have it. I like the Vanailla Burst, too.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Have you ever seen that coffee that comes in an insulated cup and you just push a button and it heats itself?

Seminole, OK(Zone 7a)

We have Cains here. That is the kind provided in our breakroom. No Krogers though.
I haven't tried the coffee in the insulated cup but I have drank the hot chocolate that is packaged like that. It is good.
We are having much cooler weather than is normal. We are setting records for lows. I was even tempted to drink coffee the other morning. I am a cold weather drinker and it seems unreal to be cool enough in Sept. for me to drink coffee. I would have drank the coffee but I had to water the plants and the bathroom is too far away. LOL

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

No I haven't seen the coffee or chocolate in a cup and push a button and it heats itself!!!
Is it reusable?

Weatherford, TX

I tried the canned hot chocolate that heats itself and I hated it! Maybe mine was a different brand than the one you tried, but it really was just awful. I was really disappointed, because it seemed like such a great convenience.

(Zone 7a)

I've tried that one, if it's the one I think you mean. It comes in a little cup, you put the cup in the slot, the water goes in the container, 30 seconds, coffee? We had a demo person wheere I work and the one I tried was pretty good. They have different kinds of coffees, tea and chocolate.

Weatherford, TX

The one I tried came in a metal? container covered in a foam covering and you activated it by (if I remember right ) pulling something off. You then waited a few moments and it self-heated right there in the can. I got it at Wal-Mart. It was very grainy, too.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Yes, it is in a metal cup and is NOT reusable. Some of the flavors are really bad. The french vanilla is quite tastey. They heat really well, although I have read where there was problems with exploding cups, the chemicals leaking into the coffee etc.
I bought a few of them at Wallys World on markdown and they were fun. I don't like all the throw away involved, but it is a neat idea.

Paris, IL(Zone 6a)

I don't remember seeing Cain's coffee nor Cherrios Vanilla Burst but we have a Kroger's so I'll look next time I am in town. I've never seen the self-heating containers either.

I was on vacation last week and hit a Starbucks almost every day. I tried a breve and thought it needed sugar. I tried a caramel macchiato and liked it but not enough to switch from my vanilla latte all the time. When we left I ordered a quad vanilla latte, four shots of espresso. I was good for driving six hours. LOL

(Zone 7a)

Not the one I was thinking of, then.

4 shots? Wow.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Heres what they look like. Although I bought them for one dollar each (but they were on clearance)

What a great thread! Interesting, funny and informative too!

I guess I cannot profess to be a coffee snob. I really like a good cup of coffee but rarely make it anymore. I'm the only coffee drinker in the house and too lazy to make a pot just for me.

Many years ago I could make a good pot of coffee ... I am so out of practice that I can't get it right anymore. Never tastes very good, too weak, too strong or too bitter. Haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong, I've tried different brands, different water to no avail. I just can't figure it out ... have not changed the amounts or anything and it just doesn't taste "right" if I make it ... any hints or tips appreciated!

My dear mother used to make the best coffee ever! She always said the secret was to put a pinch of salt in the ground coffee before brewing ... supposedly an old Navy trick she learned from her dad who was a Navy man. My dad was a Navy man too but never added salt when he made coffee.

I love when we go to visit my sisters ... great coffee in their houses, only problem ... they don't live near me! So ... when I get the urge for a cup of joe I have to go to a restaurant or 7-11 or something!

My habits the past dozen years or so have been drinking diet pepsi from 8:00 a.m. until I go to bed at night. Waaaay too much caffeine, and I'm trying to be better but it's very hard ... caffeine addiction!

I seem to have acquired an addiction to COLD COFFEE! I never tried cold coffee until a few years ago. My coffee always had to be hot and black with sugar. (For my hot tea I have to add both cream and sugar!) When I was growing up, my parents loved Iced Coffee in the summer time, but I could never imagine cold coffee and would never try it. I have always loved iced tea as well as hot tea but my coffee HAD to be HOT! ... Then came Starbuck's and I met their Vanilla Frappucicno, LOL. They are really wonderful! It's real hard when I go to the grocery store not to buy a few dozen of those bottles but they have so much sugar I try to limit myself! ^_^

Dunkin Donuts has some really awesome Iced/Frozen Coffee drinks too. The Iced Caramel Latte is really, really good. They used to have one that was a favorite of mine called Vanilla Coolatta!

I am not much of a cereal eater but, Wow - Vanilla Burst Cheerio's sound great! I have never seen them in any store down here, maybe I will ask if they can order them. There was a Vanilla Shredded Wheat on the market for awhile that I liked but haven't found that one in awhile. And, for a long time I was buying a Vanilla/Almond Granola cereal at Target but they quit carrying it a year ago and I can't remember the brand ... not one of the big companies like Post, General Mills. Can you tell I'm a Vanilla fanatic? When I bake I always add a lot more vanilla to than the recipe calls for!

Well ... I've rambled enough so I will leave y'all with this saying:

"I'm a better person with caffeine .... really!"

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Think I'll fix me a vanilla coke!!!!!LOL

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Now that I have a "big sky bistro" mug, I can make coffee anywhere anytime and one cup. It is a plastic mug (the only drawback) you put the grounds in, then hot water (that you can heat over a fire while hiking, etc) wait a couple minutes, then press the button on the top to slowly press the grounds to the bottom. It makes a good cup of coffee, better than cowboy coffee, when in the woods or when the power goes out. Ha.

All that car has to do is heat water and you could adapt this to your auto. Freshed brewed pressed coffee at demand. LOL

(Zone 7a)

Oh! I LOVE vanilla coke! LOL

That sounds pretty cool about the big sky bistro mug. Where did you get that?

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

I saw it in Field and Stream magazine, but googled it for a much better price.

(Zone 7a)

I'll go look. Thanks.

Seminole, OK(Zone 7a)

I have a picture of a person stopped on the side of a country road with the hood of the car up. A good samarition stops to to inquire what there trouble is and low and behold they have a "big sky bistro" mug resting on the engine. Just making a cup of coffee. LOL

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

What will they think of next!!!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Hahahahahaha

Seminole, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh had my first cup of coffee today since last winter. I should add it was at work but it was fresh because it was still brewing. That is what sucked me in....the awesome smell. Well I put too much sugar in it and it was awful but I still drank half of it. LOL
