Drink Coffee ?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

OMG! There is others that are caffeine and nicotine sniffers!!!!LOL

Weatherford, TX

I didn't really like the Sonic drink with the ice cream. Do love the smell of coffee.
I guess I am a coffee wimp. I can't drink strong coffee. Weakened, with creamer added...
and I drink instant at home (I know, you are groaning, right?!).

(Zone 7a)

Not groaning just...cringing a little. ☺ No, seriously, that's okay...for you. I can't stand the stuff anymore.

Tropicman! So funny about us both sniffing things like that. My DH thinks I'm a little odd when he finds me smelling his pack. Cna't stand the smoke part anymore but the freshly opened pack? I'm there! LOL

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

LOL what can I say, they both smell so good!!!
But I'll tell you what has burnt my britches is Old Spice Cologne,I've been wearing it 50yrs,and when I bought my last bottle it smelled funny, doesn't smell the same anymore, wife said maybe it's me,due to the medication I'm taking make it smell different,so I took a big whiff from the bottle, and know they have changed the fragrance.
Now what,am I going have to change?????

Maybe a Aqua Velvet man!!!LOL

(Zone 7a)

"All my men wear Aqua Velvet or they wear nothing at all."

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

Love coffee, love going out for coffee drinks..don''t love the price!
I get Eight O' Clock columbian and grind the beans there. Then put it in a coffee toddy thing..plastic tub with a heavy felt finltr and a plug. A lb of coffee goes in the container and fill to top with water-I stir a bit (vaguely remember the directions saying not to..but directions are long gone. After 12+ hours, you pull the rubber cork (the container is poised over the pitcher and the coffee essescence (?) filters through that heavy fiber filter. An ounce or so in a cup of hot water or glass of cold water Yummy!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

kwanjin,Lot of naked men in your life huh???!!!!LOL

Wow that seems like a lot of work, and having to wait 12 hours,I could not do!
But I'm glad you can, everyone should have there coffee that makes them happy!

(Zone 7a)

ROTFLOL Tropicman, not so many. ☺

Marcia, that sounds yummy, indeed, but too much work for me. I have been thinking of getting a coffee press.

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

HI, kind of like a Slow coffee press..gives me a pitcher of coffee essence at a time..the next goes up before the first is empty..my coffee cup (20 oz.) waits for no one!!!
Dollop of other stuff and milk and I have a frappacino (sp?)
Was reading a series of mysteries featuring a Major Time barrista--whoa; lots more to it than switching the filters on the Bunn machine when I was a waitress years ago.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Man,I've been wanting one of the automatic bun machines hooked up to water, and just have to add the coffee grounds and push a button!!!
We have 2 of those Hamilton Beach Ststions with the spigot, with the automatic timer!
Really like them!

Seminole, OK(Zone 7a)

Ok, I could have drank a cup of coffee this morning. The very edge of Hurricane Gustav has come in and brought a lot of wind. We had a cold front come down from the northwest and Gustav up from the southeast so we are getting cool temps. I'm not sure which is bringing what plus a little rain.

Anyway I'm digressing, I went to sit on my front porch this morning. I'm crazy I know but I like to sit out in bad weather. The swing cushions were really damp but I sat anyway, plus the wind and some rain and I was wishing for a big cup of coffee. The can of coffee I have is nearly two years old so I didn't come in and make any. The next time I go to the store I am going to get some fresh coffee. I have a coffeemaker but it sits unused most of the time. When I get coffee its usually after work so I just stop at a store.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Cold windy here, drank coffee all day long!
Temperature 63

(Zone 7a)

I had one of my huge cups this morning. About to go out the door for dinner and plan on another at...(gasp!)...Starbucks! Carmel macchiato. Mmm...

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

One for the road!!
In my case,it's one more cup before bed!!!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

I never drank very much coffee until I married a coffee drinker 12 years ago. Now he has me addicted to his Folgers/Hazelnut blend that he makes. I go a step further by adding hazelnut liquid creamer. Wow, that is good coffee.

The secret blend is...

Hope he never sees this (ha)

1 lb of hazelnut coffee to a half container of Folgers. It smells soooo good.

I will also vote for coffee from Hawaii. We have never been there, but have friends who travel. They brought us back some coffee from there that was wonderful, also some from Jamaca, Blue mountian. Wow, those are some great coffees.

I used to be a perky morning person, but now I am a stumbling, blinking, zombie, until I get my coffee.

(Zone 7a)

I've always been a stumbling, blinking zombie in the morning. LOL Night is my time for being awake. Drives my husband nuts. He always thinks something is wrong.

I agree about the Jamaican Blue Mtn. Yummy.

Santa Fe, NM

Hi, good thread! I just had a cup of coffee. I am a coffee snob big time, I'm afraid, tho I know some who are worse. I like whole bean and grind it at home. Keep the beans in the freezer. I use a press pot at home or my beloved little traveling coffee maker if "on the road". I like a local coffee importer or Pete's coffee from San Francisco. I drink 2 cups a day, strong! Sometimes just one in the morning. I use half and half. Sometimes I like cinnamon in it and some sugar. Kona coffee is very nice. I don't like Starbucks much but will go there if I'm desperate.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I don't know about you all,but if I don't get a certain amount of coffee,I get headaches,my wife thinks I'm crazy, but I really do,does this happen to any of you coffee drinkers?

Weatherford, TX

I've heard those are 'Caffeine headaches'. It is real. I know that caffeine is an ingredient in some of the headache medications. It your body is used to a lot of caffeine and doesn't get it, you can have withdrawal headaches- a sort of rebound effect?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Well sometimes,I'll drink a coke,it seems to get rid of the headache faster in a pinch if coffee is around to be had!!!!

(Zone 7a)

Yes, it's true. The caffeine is the culprit. I get them too if I run out or don't get some on the road.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Enjoying my second cup already, seems to have relaxed me a little, woke up enough to have my banana for breakfast!

(Zone 7a)

I'm on my first cup. The flower one shown above. House Blend with vanilla caramel creamer, no sugar. Mmm...wide awake and ready for the day!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Been rainy and cold,61* here, might just be a record high for the day!!!!
Starting on my 3rd pot,the first fresh cup when I get home from work, kick my boots and let out the air of my tires, and sip with my little pinky up in the air!!!LOL

Santa Fe, NM

Too funny! I had one cup of coffee today and didn't get it until past noon! We got a day off and went for a walk this morning, then stopped at the local food co-op where they brew a blend called,"Black Lightning". good name. But not as strong as it sounds! Still, it tasted mighty good after that long of a wait!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Ever wonder who comes up with these names????
Years ago, when foldgers made the big price increase,I think they went to $4.00 for the 3lb can,I tried a brand called Butternut, and I really liked it,I drank it for about a year, and then all of a sudden they stopped carry that brand, told me they were no longer in business.
So I had to go back to foldgers, wifes family was always a Maxwell House coffee drinker, because it was always good to the last drop!!!!LOL

Glenview, IL

LOL...just found this thread!

Oh I love, love my coffee. I have quite the variety of cups...different sizes!

I drink coffee all day! Well at least until 5:30.

Black thank you.

LOL, sometimes I feel like a whizzer I am so caffinated up!

(Zone 7a)

LOL, Judy! You're a riot! I used to drink mine black but the acid reflux nixed that one. Gotta have a little creamer as a buffer. Meds help but the creamer helps more.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Yes, I have that problem too. The creamer seems to help and taste good too.

Ok, we have all shared our good coffee. What coffee have you had that you hate?

I tried a small bag of pumpkin spice once. YUCK, it was awful. It was not pumpkin, but just the spices, icky poo.

Then there was that gift of gingerbread coffee for the holidays one year. That was pretty awful too.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh, LOL, I just realized that I take my acid reflux medicine with my cup of coffee in the morning.

(Zone 7a)

The worst one I ever had (besides truck stop coffee (shudder)) was a Viennese Cinnamon. Yuck! Various small cafes have crappy coffee, even though the rest of the fare is awesome.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Chick you cracked me up!
Which acid reflux meds does everyone take, might have to get some for me too!

(Zone 7a)

Aciphex. I've tried Protonix and Prilosec but they don't cut it for me. I tried Nexium, too, but my insurance won't cover it without trying something else first. The Aciphex works, so we're sticking with that.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Do you need a prescription for Aciphex?

(Zone 7a)

Yes.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I was afraid it would, between me and the wife,15 prescriptions already,we do the mail
order,every 90 days,around $700 bucks!
Thats with insurance, hate to see what it would be without!!!

(Zone 7a)

Oooo, yuck! You could pay a mortgage with what we pay for prescrips. today.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

I don't like pills. But I really need this one. I am glad that I can still have a cup of coffee in the morning. I do limit my intake though.

kwanjin, that cinamon coffee sounds bad. (notice that it is another pumkin spice) Who thought these flavors mixed with coffee?

Another coffee that is good, but only in small amounts is Traverse City Cherry. Tastes like you put a choc covered cherry in your coffee. Yummy, but not for every day.

(Zone 7a)

That does sound good. We like to try the different creamers, too.

(Zone 7a)

I sat down to a cup a few minutes ago. Decaf. It seems to be getting cooler at night. Does your taste in coffees change over the seasons or do you stick with one? Does your taste change over time?
