Sitting here is like being hugged...
Visit to Pirl's Garden
Louise has a great idea there with the mudslinging jello fight. That would be the highlight event of the year around here.
Al - it used to be 20,000 deadheads a year but thanks to the deer we're down to a few hundred instead. Maybe the deer have given me a Horn & Hardardt garden: "Less work for mother".
Yes, Allison, "still plenty left".
Polly - Kassia took the photo of the door at a local nursery where we'd like to have spent more time but the weather did not cooperate and we made it home just in time before the skies opened up.
Nancy - here's one I took as Kassia was boarding the ferry. He's not wearing a green scarf though!
Great shot of the sun, Nancy.

He is 6' tall though! Too funny. :o}
Everything was perfect except for the green scarf and Kassia isn't telling! It's just too funny!
good guess pirl, but nope. Name is Jan but the BD is Nov. 23. When DH and I were planning our wedding 35 yrs ago I picked June 23rd thinking he would only have to remember different months. How silly of me, cuz our oldest and our twins were born on the 26th of different months, so now he is so confused he can't remember anything. lol
re:.........like being hugged I love that picture in my head. Being surrounded by beautiful gardens and FRIENDS.
I love the pic through the door. Does the sign on the post say RESERVED PARKING? That's a hoot.
"Horn & Hardardt" I went to one many years ago in NYC. Are they still around?
I can relate to liking/hating jobs. I quit work in Nov. when Mom fell and people ask if I miss it. Sometimes I do, but most times I don't.
That sign behind the door is difficult to read in Kassia's photo and in mine. Guess it forces me to go back and check it out. The things we do for friends!
H & H have disappeared but their site still has many of the famous recipes, like Mac and Cheese, my grandson's favorite menu item other than blueberries.
I only miss a paying job when I think back to Christmas bonuses.
No more automats in NYC. The last one was near my HS. Sorry to hear about your job, Weeze. Good luck!
Beautiful garden and sounds like a wonderful day. Pirl amazes me with the obvious care for her beautifully laid out garden. Just a vision to aspire to I think. I have never seen a "veg patch" that was that neat and tidy. Terrific planning, execution and care has gone onto every inch of this wonderful garden. A pleasure to see and thanks for all the pics and sharing them with the rest of us. :)
I love that pic too Polly... I am having it enlarged... really wonderful, and it's giving me ideas for my garden...
well, now irises are also a passion... and cone flowers... can't help it... they are wonderful... the list keeps growing... I love hostas also...
yeah, I had help carrying the suitcase... the guy was really sweet... darn it, should have gotten his name and address to send a thank you card! well, he would think I am a creep! lol... nowadays things are scary!
Don't hesitate to show good manners.
They are so few and far between these days.
Even if he wasn't touched by the gesture, you would have done a good thing for yourself.
This is not a critisizm because I have "not "done those good deeds myself and felt bad about it.We encounter so few careing people these days.
Thats why Pirl is a Pearl. tee hee
