I heard that, so many people feel like Stacey, but how do you think we get our meat, someone has to raise it, and someone has to kill it...
You just have to seperate yourself from the pets and the non pets.
Facts of life.
They do make excellent guard animals, but they are so noisey.

linda kay, i couldnt have said it better
Stacey, I couldn't either. I wasn't raised on a farm but had aunts and uncles who had farms. They butchered their animals for meat. As a child I would visit and couldn't understand why they would give their animals names then later eat them.

deb- I've done that several places - sometimes I can't tell if my posts are sent.
Good Morning Good Morning! Hmmmmm have to think up something funnier. that story did a belly flop.
So how's everyone this morning? Marion, how you doing, hon?
Jaye, did you get any of the rain they promised us yesterday? 'cause we sure didn't, and it looked like rain all day long!
had a bad day yesterday. Got nothing done except excercise class with the AOA. barely went into the yard. Went out today, surveying irises to be dug. But got side tracked weeding a bed that's overgrown. DH didn't mow one side, and the "lawn" a.k.a. green grass weeds grew right on across and into raised row bed. That's a two day job. Gotta stop and come inside for breakfast! Fruit tart sounds good, too!
Good morning everyone.
I can't remember all the proper names, so here is an idea. Some of you are already doing it.
To add your real name under your DG name, next to your location, you can go to the top of the page, and click on "my info" then click on "my preferences", then click on the right hand side of the page on "my location". Then you can type your name in front of your city.
That is how I got my name there.

I will eat meat that comes in a styro tray wrapped in plastic, but not if I have seen it w/ fur-I am a freak-what can I say-so it's me & Deb in the freak boat-you all are in the normal boat...
My mom just snet me a couple-one is a smidge on the "not sure if anyone would be offended side" so here is this one:
An old man in his mid-eighties struggles to get up from
the couch then starts putting on his coat. His wife,
seeing the unexpected behavior, asks,
Where are you going?'
He replies, 'I'm going to the doctor.'
She says, 'Why, are you sick?'
He says, 'Nope, I'm going to get me some of
that Viagra stuff.'
Imediately the wife starts working and positioning herself
to get out of her rocker and begins to put on her coat.
He says, 'Where the heck are you going'?
She answers, 'I'm going to the doctor, too.'
He says, 'Why, what do you need?'
She says, 'If you're going to start using that
rusty old thing, I'm getting a Tetanus shot.'
High 5 Stacey!!!!
Lololol!! I must print this out and show MIL. Maybe she'll crack a smile!!
Okay, bestest fairy... next? :D
I don't want anyone to get offended.......I can dmail it to you...
Ok Stacey.
Oh bestest fairy, that was so cute. I read that to my dad and hubby and they both laughed so hard!!!
^_^
oh Fairy you can dmail methe others, too. ROTFLMAO I have to send this to ILs!!!!!
got fair amount of work down today, but I'm a pooped pup. nightie nite all.
Hi, Ladies,
I guess I am just a lurker here, but I have enjoyed your conversations (and your jokes). After that last one, I had to add one for you.
Sadie & Clem were 85 years old and they had met at the weekly Senior Center dinner. After dinner Clem invited Sadie to come back to his apartment. Well, one thing led to another & they ended up in bed. After they had finished they were lying there reliving the moment. Clem was thinking "Wow, if I had known she was a virgin, I would have been more gentle"
Sadie was thinking "Darn, if I had known he could actually do something I would have taken off my panty hose."
Nancy
ROFL!!!!
Good morning Sistahs!!
Great morning it will be this Sunday! Thanks Nancy, that's a hoot! Welcome, welcome to this sistah fellowship with comic relief to sweetly interrupt our otherwise ordinary routines!
Sistahs, let's welcome her!
BJ..BJ..hope you're okay my dear and that you are resting and not pushing yourself in the heat yesterday trying to complete Fairrot Hotel. We do miss you when not seeing you post anywhere.
Marion dahlin'. We are still lifting you and your mama up in prayers. Hope you are having more help too.
Bon, it was dry yesterday.
Another extra hot day today and lots of fun stuffs to do in the garden. Yay? No ^_^
Think we'll just hang around the house, got this set of dvd "That's My Mama" with Clifton Davis, that we'll be glued to.
I've never seen the show, and the pilot was terrific. It's ahead of its' time, lots of inuendos, nothing overt... clean comedy.
Have a happy Sunday, Sistahs!
Good morning all.
I'm fine Jaye. I refuse to go outside in this heat. Don wants me to go out and stain the deck while he's gone, but I won't do it... it will wait till fall when it's cooler.
Actually, I'm doing something that I've wanted to do for a long time. I'm learning to work with polymer clay... I've become obsessed with it. I still don't know exactly what I'm doing yet, but I'm getting the hang of how to handle it ... vewy vewy carefully.
Hi, Nancy. Welcome... don't just lurk... join in the conversation...
Me too... Marion... if your lurking out there... I've got you heavily on my mind... and including your mom and you and your sister in my prayers... hope all is well with you.
It is a happy Sunday, isn't it, Jaye?
BJ-HELLO MA"AM!!! Good to hear from you:)
If you enjoy a good comedy movie with a bit of "off-color humor" try to see "Death at a Funeral". We get 2 movies a week from Netflix, so I see quite a few, but this one is one of the few worth remembering. I would say PG13.
If any of your members are from the Ohio area, I have plants that I would gladly share. However I can't dig them and can't seem to find anyone that I can hire. Many hostas, daylilies, echinachea (sp?) My email friend in Australia says that they have a program where senior citizens can get a list of people to hire at a reduced fee to do almost any kind of work. Yard work included. We need that in the USA. Seems like the kids don't want to work anymore and the adults want too much money.
Ha! Baby Stacey misses her BJ :D
Yes it is a beautiful Sunday today. Missed church again -- and Kel just hollered.."Ready to go!!" Off to Mexican food.
BJ, we know you're the brainiest one of all! Smart woman, Don can stain it in the heat if he want! You're getting tactile there. I've also wanted to attempt at Polymer Clay---one day. You're making unique accessories for your mythical kingdom? Wow, with Jojo attempting Paper Mache... we'll soon be having our own BettyPauzes right in our midst!!
Ok...Kel's grinning right now... he says he'll eat extra desserts for y'all!
Catch y'all later!! Love ya!
Being on dial up, my posts are always slow. Nancy, I'll have to look that dvd up.
That's a good "socialist" program in Aussie land. We sure do need it here. Perhaps we can suggest that to our own state senator.
Be back in a while...
Where do you live?? I live just above Toledo??
I live in the middle of Ohio about 20 miles south of Ashland, or 25 miles south-east of Mansfield.
UGH-that is about 3-4 hrs from me...sorry....I knoew there are DG closer to you....what is your zip & I will look for you, then maybe you can make friends and they will help you:)
hope this works
http://davesgarden.com/member_zip.php?zipcode=44842
Jaye, I don't think my tactics are working... he keeps asking me if I have it stained every time he calls... several times a day... this morning I told him that the answer will still be NO tomorrow when he asks. HEHEHE.
No, not brainy... more like "gotta try this before I die" sort of thing. You know all those things you always wanted to do when you had to work for a living, but never had time to do it? Well, now I have time... so, I'm doing it.
Betty is among us... so, I can only aspire to be like her.
HI FAIRY EYES... how's my favorite niece today?
I am fine-gotta clean up my mess B4 Dh comes home tomorrow:) I have been spending all my free time doing fairy garden stuff, so my house looks like a toranado went through it!!LOL I was pretty exctied the other day. I found the 2005 Nene THomas calender (the fairy artist LK and I LOVE) for like $10 including shipping which is like 1/2 off, so I ordered it...when it got here I took the ones I wanted, and ripped em out...then I went to Michaels the other day to get something I am amking for Marion and found mattings, 8X10 opeing in 11X14 matt for $1 on clearance, then they had 2 packs of black frames for $6, so I got 4 colors of mattings, and 1 set of frames and braught them home and they were pefect!! So I got 6 prints + mattings and frames for about $5 each!! WOOHOO!! Not too bad:) Then I had gotten some of her prints in postcards and found frames w/ mattings already in them @ a $$ store I discovered on one of my "I think I will take a diff way home" days:) MIl made the pillows and when she brings the prints she had framed and matted in a couple weeks, I will have to take pics of the completed (well almost) room.....once we get everything up we will decide on curtains-I bought a cream colored fabric w/ sparklies on it for the windows and want to do some sort of 1/3 window valnace, but can decide on a pattern...
Ooooo... that sounds really wonderful Stacey... be sure to post pics when it's done... OK?
Have you ever really stopped to think how amazing it is that we all have friends all over the world as a result of this keyboard & screen. In the 10 years that I have been on-line I have met so many wonderful friends. Some I have actually gotten to meet in person. Some I have talked to on the telephone as well as on-line. (Love the different accents). One sad note, however, was brought home to me last year. I had met a wonderful friend on-line and we emailed each other several times a day. We said we felt like long lost sisters. She had to go into the hospital for further tests for a pre-existing heart condition. She said she would email me when she got out of the hospital. She was only supposed to be there overnight. I never heard from her again. My emails went unanswered. I sent a letter to her husband, but it was never answered. I tried to look her up in Google, etc. and even tried to check obituaries but never found out what happened. I guess this is the price we pay for the enjoyment of long distance friendships. I still feel it's worth all of it.
I will take & post pics after my MIL comes:)
SilverWillow(I think that is what it is supposed to be??)-That is sad-the not knowing part is worse:(
Yes, it is supposed to be Silver Willow (Nancy). Yes, the not knowing is the worst part. I still miss her & keep hoping I will open an email & find it is her.
I am just finishing up 11 days of vacation. I had all these things planned that I wanted to get done, but it seems that the main thing I have done is sleep. My flower beds have weeds taller than I am this year. I have always been a meticulous gardner and have been known for having beautiful gardens but this year my COPD, Fibromyalgia, and my 3rd shift job have just taken the wind out of my sails. The deer have eated the hostas, so I don't have to worry about them, I guess. LOL We feed the deer in our back yard and last year there were 3 sets of twins and 2 single fawns that were coming to the food. This year we have only seen 1 fawn. Strange. Two years ago we had a wonderful white deer with a brown face that would come with her normal twin brother and her mother. She disappeared the second day of hunting season. We have many pictures of her. She was magic and we felt very lucky to have been blessed with her presence for as long as we had her.
I'm here-just not sure how long I will be connected.
Welcome to our new Sista--Silvrwilo. Glad you are here.
Mom is improving but still a long ways to go at her age. Hopefully everything will be in place and I can return home about the 4th of August. Just keep us in your prayers. Thanks so much!!
Miss you all,.
You got it Marion. Prayers coming your way!
You take care, and pop in when you have a few minutes.
HUGS to you all
Linda Kay
You're in my prayers always, sweet sistah.
We're back...and it's Thai food. Stacey, everything we ordered are recognisable, like the shrimp, chicken, pork, bean sprouts, rice noodles, broccoli, green onions, basil leaves, ginger and garlic. Of course stir fried in Thai soy sauce. I know, could have stayed home and did all that but we would have missed some cute Asian kids!!! Guess we had fellowship there.
Nancy, Kel reminded me that we had seen the movie and yes we loved it. Especially Alan Tudyk...he's so funny!!
My memory's gone, and Marion dear..I think I tie for first place with Linda's brains...
I know she's a school teacher, but I managed an all male crew for 15 years, so...you know how that went!
Don't you worry love, BJ's here making sure we behave!! Lol!! Seriously, needless to say, we'll continue praying for you and your mum.
Nancy, I'm having the same fright too. There's one dear friend that charmed our hearts here (I think many know who she is) and we haven't heard from her at all. Attempts had been made to reach her, and even Kel got hold of the proper authorities just to find her. Short of flying over to her state...we still don't know what's going on. Yes, behind our monitors are flesh and blood. We do take each other seriously, at least this group, and when one goes missing, it's like a sibling that we lost.
BJ, good luck!! So, are you putting that hypertufa aside and going to concentrate on polymer? At least with that, you can work in the comfort of your airconditioned kitchen...smart lady! And Don will just have to stain that deck himself, eh?
Thanks Jaye... yes, we do care about each other here, don't we? It's a real comforting feeling to come here and know I'm among friends. Thanks to each and every one of you for making that possible... you too Nancy... when you get to know us all well, you'll learn to love us too. Although, we can get a little naughty sometimes.
I'm only putting the HT aside until it gets a little cooler... I don't like 100+ temps, and neither does concrete. So, I've moved indoors... my craft room is so much more healthier to be in this time of year. The deck will get stained this fall... there's no hurry on that... heck, our dock didn't get stained for a year!!!
Lolol!! What a coincidence, BJ. Our deck too!! Kel's always busy and one of those macho.."no need to hire when I can do it" guys. It finally got stained after a year! And now I want the whole area covered, to turn it into a geenhouse/sunroom! So you can say, most probably I'll have my sunroom next year.

Twins
An unmarried woman is newly pregnant and gets into an auto accident. She suffers a head injury and lapses into a coma for nine months. When she awakens in the hospital, she panics and asks about her baby.
Her doctor is called in and gives her a mild sedative, then he sits down to answer her questions. "I'm so happy to see you recovering", he says. The woman responds, "Thank you doctor, but what about my baby? Is everything all right?" He replies, "Yes, despite your injury, we were able to perform a fairly normal delivery procedure."
"In fact," he goes on, "you've given birth to twins - a boy and a girl."
The woman is very happy and asks when she can see her new babies. The doctor replies, "Right away, but we've already sent the infants home with your brother. We'll call and tell him you're okay. While you were unconscious, your brother took care of everything for you. He even gave the babies names."
At this point, the woman gets upset, "Doctor, my brother is an idiot! What name did he give my little girl?" The doctor answered that her name was Denise. "Oh, Denise, that's not so bad. What name did he give my boy?" The doctor answered, "Denephew".
LOL-that is cute!!
Who is the one that we haven't heard from?? 2pugdogs?? I knew about her, but she became ill right about the time I started in here.....
Jaye-when is your Bday???
It's Tuesday, Stacey. If you're baking me a cake, make it cheesecake :P
Sriously-this coming Tuesday??? DOn't mess with me lady!!
Last time I checked my driver's license, it says, to renew on 29th July 2009.
