Here's another picture, a shot of the area behind the overview pic above. That's monarda planted behind the waterfall; I like the contrast with the juniper, so lucky it laid down for me! The pink lobelia is planted in a pool where the waterfall empties. And that's a wildflower "weed" I let grow.

pixie - I don't think you have enough daylillies ;-)

Something else blooming, but not exactly one I want. I let this grow because it became a "just how tall will this get" thing :) Well, I don't know how tall, but well over 6 feet. The little yellow blooms are at the top of the picture, above left of the small crabapple. I did cut the flowers off previously, way down, but it decided that was just a challenge to overcome!

Thanks all. Looking forward to learning the camera. More great DL's Celeste - and you squeezed in a blanket flower! In how many different beds are your DL's?

Evie - I usually let one huge weed keep going just to see how tall it will get! I try not to let it seed though.

Really lovely plants, gardeners! Thanks for the ID, Pixie--Mardi Gras it is! Must have the VT Sweet Clover! Nice shots with the new camera, Victor--it sounds perfect for the close-ups! I picked some glads yesterday--hope to get them on, but my computer is behaving strangely---again!

Whoops--obviously larkspur & a small DL--here are the glads.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Usually 5.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes..DL is 18 different beds. Where else would I put almost 300 DL's????

Thanks for the zone.....maybe i'll try it.

I really thought this was a gonner, but never got around to pulling in up. Glad I didn’t, JFK I think.

Great shot Victor.

New blooms on Pure Poetry. Hope the JB's don't get them!

I like Pure Poetry!! Blooming beside that yellow DL would really be a nice combo!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. I will probably have to move Poetry - getting shaded now from my Paw Paw.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

My first Canna ever, just starting, came complete with a JB. I didn't even see him there.

Fantastic butterfly, I have no idea what a pocomoke crape is but it's very pretty.

Nice Donna - still waiting for my canna blooms. Pocomoke is a dwarf crape myrtle.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Donna your pics are very nice. Really like your Canna.
Victor really nice bee and butterfly pics. Question on your Peachie's Pick stokesia, does it stay upright pretty well or tend to get a bit floppy like some do? Also like the PDD. Are they standing up better now?
Here is my first bloom just starting .

Thanks Pat. So far, yes on the Peachie. This is the second year so the jury is still out. A big NO on PDD. It flops big-time and I am not happy.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice BF shot, Pat. I left one out.

I keep adding to my plant “I like that list”, it’s getting longer and longer. Now I want a new camera, and I have to got to get cable. Oh and the pc is over 6 years old. See what you guys have done to me.

Last pic for me, even after resizing they take a while.

Thom, I am now madly looking for your spinach. Can't wait to see your pictures. I go to the orchid forum just to drool. Boojum has zillions that are as nice as her garden.

I can see Boojum perched with her camera ready to capture that cactus bloom.

I think Victor should start sky/clouds/sunset thread. Great shots popping up all over the place.

Canna's are so odd for a northern garden, but I am growing them for a second year. They all wintered over in garbage bags in the crawl space of the house, dirt and all. I should have potted them up in the GH sooner than I did. DONNA_11, Congrats on your bloom, mine are still far behind. I love the foliage, just can't seem to find the right spot for them. Patti

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

I want the spinach too. I’ve been looking for a fast growing vine I could put on the dog kennel chain link fence. Everything I looked at was poisonous; my dogs are dumb and will eat anything.
I had a great spot for the canna but by the time it was ready to go in the ground I couldn’t dig the holes. Now there all crammed into pots, I’m surprised I got flowers at all.
Both butterfly shots are great.

Thanks. Hyacinth Bean is another nice annual vine that grows fast. Has nice flowers and really cool bean pods.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Thanks Victor, I'll look at that one. The kennel fence is large, 25X40' so I need to start from seed to cover.
