**SWEET INTERRUPTION** 6
You're right, Linda! I had bought from Katz Kuntry Kuttins before.
http://www.katzkuntrykuttins.biz/justicias.htm
Thanks!
So Marion, your DD must be an excellent cook since you've never complain.
Gonna step outside for a few and check out on the green babies. Today has been a very pleasant day. Nice breeze all day.
I'm stuffed!!! Yes, she is a very good cook and the shredded chicken tacos were wonderful. She also made corn salad which I have never had but it will definitely be on the menu again. She prefers Mexican and Spanish cooking so it is a nice change from what I do.
No clue what it was like outside today--just to unsteady to go out! Some better but still ditsy--I mean dizzy!!
Good morning!!
We all must have dozed off early!
I did..right after Project Runway...and yes, there was a contestant that used some lettuce and tomatos on her gown!
Another doctor's appt. this morning, but before I leave, let me leave y'all with something to think about...
Have a good day my sistahs!
Never Judge Someone
'Some people!' snorted a man standing some distance
behind me in the long line at the grocery store.
'You would think the manager would pay attention and open another line, 'said a woman. I looked to the front of the line to see what the hold up was and saw a well dressed, young woman, trying to get the machine to accept her credit card. No matter how many times she swiped it, the machine kept rejecting it.
'It's one of them welfare card things. People need to get a job like everyone else,' said the man standing behind me. The young woman turned around to see who had made the comment. 'It was me,' he said, pointing to himself.
The young lady's face began to change expression.
Almost in tears, she dropped the welfare card onto the
counter and quickly walked out of the store. Everyone in the checkout line watched as she began running to her car. Never looking back, she got in and drove away.
Several minutes later a young man walked into the store. He went up to the cashier and asked if she had seen the woman. After describing her, the cashier told him that she had run out of the store, got into her car, and drove away.
'Why would she do that?' asked the man.
Everyone in the line looked around at the fellow who had made the statement. 'I made a stupid comment about the
welfare card she was using. Something I shouldn't have said. I'm sorry,' said the man.
'Well, that's bad, real bad, in fact. Her brother was
killed in Afghanistan two years ago. He had three young children and she has taken on that responsibility. She's twenty years old, single, and now has three children to support,' he said in a very firm voice.
'I'm really truly sorry. I didn't know,' he replied, shaking
both his hands about.
The young man asked, 'Are these paid for?' pointing to the shopping cart full of groceries. 'It wouldn't take her card,' the clerk told him.
'Do you know where she lives?' asked the man who had made the comment.
'Yes, she goes to our church.'
'Excuse me,' he said as he made his way to the front of the line. He pulled out his wallet, took out his credit card and told the cashier, 'Please use my card.
PLEASE!'
The clerk took his credit card and began to ring up the young woman's groceries.
Hold on,' said the gentleman. He walked back to his shopping cart and began loading his own groceries onto
the belt to be included. 'Come on people. We got three kids to help raise!' he told everyone in line.
Everyone began to place their groceries onto the fast moving belt. A few customers began bagging the food and placing it into separate carts. 'Go back and get two big turkeys,' yelled a heavyset woman, as she looked at the man. 'NO,' yelled the man. Everyone stopped dead in their tracks. The entire store became quiet for several seconds. 'Four turkeys,' yelled the man. Everyone
began laughing and went back to work.
When all was said and done, the man paid a total of
$1,646.57 for the groceries. He then walked over to the side, pulled out his check book, and began writing a check using the bags of dog food piled near the front of the store for a writing surface.
He turned around and handed the check to the young man.
'She will need a freezer and a few other things as well,' he
told the man.
The young man looked at the check and said, 'This is really very generous of you.'
'No,' said the man. 'Her brother was the generous one.'
Everyone in the store had been observing the odd commotion and began to clap. And I drove home that day feeling very American.
We live in the Land of the free, because of the Brave!!!
Remember our Troops of Yesterday and Today!!!
A great example of why we should be kind and patient.
Kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear.
Never judge someone...until you have walked a mile in their shoes.
May God's many blessings continue
to be with you - ALWAYS!!!
sis, beautiful tory. made me cry
Really beautiful story Jaye... good lesson for everyone to learn.
Well, good morning everyone... we're home. Got home about 11pm last night, exhausted.
Here's some things I learned in Denver..
1. Garden of the Gods isn't really a garden. It's very large rock formations clustered together. They're really a wonder to see though... the formation resembles fingers pointing up to heaven.
2. Except in the mountains and along the river banks, nothing green grows. Lots of barren land everywhere.
3. You can not buy a Dr Pepper anywhere... they love Coke products there.
4. High altitudes can make one feel really sick... I almost passed out on the top of Pikes Peak.
5. I studied the boulders on Pikes Peak and have my head wrapped around building boulders here at my house out of HT.
It was non stop sight seeing, and didn't stop anywhere for shopping or stuff like that... so, I didn't get a chance to bring back much other than pictures. I'll post some after while.
Don has some time off now... so, we'll have a lot of togetherness in the next week. I'm sure he has projects planned, but he's not telling me what they are... I'm trying to talk him in to finishing some projects we have started... but his brain is twirling around something else, I think... ugh.
Me too, I copied and sent it along in more emails.
You all have a wonderful day, and stay cool.
Linda Kay
BJ, glad to hear your back home, and sounds like you had a good time. Can't wait to see your pics.
Linda Kay
welcome home bj!
How beautiful Jaye and thanks for posting that. I think it is a good lesson for all of us! Will make me think twice before I say something--not something I would usually do but every now and then....
Welcome home traveler!!! Now I see why my hubby like it so much in Denver--rocks, formations it all falls together now! Geological heaven right? Enjoy every minute of the time you have this coming week--it is precious but I know you know that!!
Feeling less dizzy today so hopefully will get something accomplished. Heavy rains last night and lost internet connection. Early bed when I could get reconnected.
Linda Kay, I haven't forgotten the quilt site--just hope you will be ready when I finish the list! Told you I'm an addict there also.
I am waiting.

More brugs have been added to the brug co-op. Go take a look,
Linda Kay
BJ very good pictures. Yes, I understand why he loved it so much!! I will have to make it a point to go there some day for all the beauty of the areas.
Well, Marion... if you go, don't expect to see a lot of flowers... except ones you see people planted in a landscape... there aren't any. I was a bit surprised at that.
I did dead head some plants at a restaurant and the hotel to get some seeds to bring home.
AND... I was so amazed that one of the wives remembered a conversation we had last year about gardening, and she brought me seeds of something she called "Moonglow"... from a 100+ plant handed down in her family... I did a search on Moonglow, but can't find what she described... but it sounds like a Datura... but I guess I'll just have to wait and see for sure. I just can't believe she remembered that conversation, and thought about me enough to bring those seeds.
who could forget you bj!! that sure was nice of her--sounds like a fun trip--
Welcome back, welcome back, weeeeeeeeellllcomeee back BJ ♫♪♫
Good landscape photography! Love the pics!
Guess Denver's 'rock steady'. Yep, geologists heaven, I agree Marion. Those boulders....don't see much of them anywhere else...but then, my USA travels are few.
Thanks for sharing your trip, BJ. We'd really love to go there one day.
Was supposed to make a trip to his cousin who lives in Vail, every travelling plans that require us to leave the house for more than a day put on hold :(
Think I'll just do the feet dipping, thank you. If I want a brain freeze, ice cream will do it!
How's the air up there? Crisp?
You are certainly one special lady to be remembered by someone you've just met once!!! We all think so too ;)
Oh, you all are just too sweet... thanks for remembering me.
Yes, the air is crisp... but as you climb the mountains, the altitude can make you dizzy and light headed... it happened to me at the top of Pikes Peak... we had 30 mins to take pics before starting back down, and I spent most of that time sitting down, because I felt like I was going to fall down. I did go outside the gift shop just before the train left, but I couldn't get near the edge... I hugged the building ... made my fear of heights even worse.
How was the doctor visit Jaye? Hope you are doing well--take care of yourself we need you!!!!!!
I hear the first time Marion .... Mwaaaaaaaaah.....
Got to bring my sugar down....increase insulin....and I have gained 35 pounds!!!! Side effect of insulin and Lyrica.
BJ, we can see fright on your face!!!
Hug the building?? I'd be chaining myself to it!!!
The higher the altitude, the thinner the air, less oxygen. Guess you and I will never try to scale the Everest!
Wow I got lost agasin and missed an entire thread LOL, I always forget to "watch thread" when you post the link to the new one LOL. Welcome home BJ! Looks like you had a great trip, those pics are gorgeous! I can see tiny little boulders in Lor Amar soon!!
And I can also see why you would be remembered, your a memorable lady!
Jaye that story above was wonderful. It would be great to see something like that happen every day! Gives you the warm fuzzy I'm proud to be an American feeling!
OK i'm going to try and keep up this time LOL. Got lots to do today though!
Oooh vertigo is a horrible feeling! I got it at the Grand Canyon standing out on the edge I truly couldn't tell up from down. Weird and scary feeling.
Sorry Jaye, computer still acting crazy today. It either doubles or disconnects. I am blaming it on the impending weather but who know.
Oh I go for my check Monday. Hope mine is till down--weight? I/m worried about that one. So far, I am still watching my diet and controlling but it does stay in the back of my mind--meds could be next. I hope not!! Rough knowing my love for ice cream and chocolate!!!!
Glad you found us Jojo. I have tons to do also but not sure what will get done--still dizzy, yes, ditzy too. LOL
Oh, Jaye... please watch it.. ok?... your health is so important... you too Marion.
I don't know if I had vertigo or not... just felt light headed, and dizzy. Is that vertigo?
We were at 14,000 ft... can you imagine what would have happened to me at a higher mountain?... I don't think I'd like to find out.
I can't possibly catch up on all these threads... and I'm not going to try, sorry. I'm just going to have to blend into the conversation from here...
Don has left to go to Home Depot to get the materials to build a deck out the back door. I couldn't talk him out of it. We're expecting triple digit temps all weekend, and I know he's going to get overheated... and he's going to need my help... not looking forward to this.
Well hello Jojo! That reminds me, I got to see how Staynot's taking to his new environments. I bet you miss that little gnome.
BJ, it looks like you might have to drag Don for another mini vacation. Don't need to exert unnecessary energy in triple digit weather.
Marion, dahlin....you're not ditzy!!!! Just quizzically eccentric!!!
Oh thank you dear Jaye, there are those who would beg to differ though.
It is relatively nice outside--in the 80s but bearable. Wanted to do some work but the bending over thing just wasn't going to work!
Need to get work caught up inside anways, Saturday I have been invited to lunch with 2 adorable little girls and I just couldn't say no. Not me!! Sunday it is down to Gainesville for a doctor's appointment on Monday. Monday afternoon will be digging peacock gingers. Then the ride home!!! Nice break!!
Welcome back girl friend! The site was lonely without you!
You got some great shots! Beautiful country.
Now don't work yourself into a frazzle since you're home!
oh heavenscape- I'd forgotten about this thread, and got here just in time to read your wonderful story today. It was marvelous. Makes me glad to be American.
and all the absolutely marvelous plant photos!
here's a photo of my front bed - I need to know if these astilbe's seeds can be saved? does anyone here know where I go to ask this question?
Good morning sistahs!
Bon, perhaps you can try asking Beginners' forum http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/b_flowers/all/ Or Seeds Germination.
You have a lovely flower bed.
Marion sure could use some astilbe seeds, can't you Marion with all the shade you have ;)
Come on over to our new room.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/878519/
Astilbe seeds tend to be sterile...
well darn - there's tens of dozens of seeds.
but I did just dmail the "grandma story" to my ILs for their 60th wedding anniversary! My IL mom Ruth will howl at it! my IL dad will grin and say "that's our Bonnie, darn her hide for not being here."
y'all I had tears in my eyes yesterday. I'd french braided DD's hair for the trip. She had borrowed a top and a pair of capri pants from her big sister. She was wearing a new bra that was more concealing, but it gave her more defined shape (she's large), and new stylish clogs. She looked so grown up! That's my last baby going in that airport looking like a world traveling lady. she's 16 - I'm hoping she doesn't go very far away to college in a few years.
back to digging irises - it's a gorgeous day out there!
