She's about to ....#6 : )

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I purchased SnowBank and it hates any kind of sun from what I can tell. It's edges turn crispy with just a small amount of sun.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Is that a variagated leaf?? Happgarden???Cleemn

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey all you hotties..

Boy we are quiet... everybody must be enjoying the weekend.. I haven't done that much today.. guess my ol body was needing rest... I watered all my flowers.. went to church and cooked a good supper.. so maybe I am in the dh's good graces..lol I also have my Gson back with us this week!!He's 14 and I imagine this will be the last year he will want to come see Gparents... he'll most likely be toooo interested in girls by next summer..lol
Pegi.. I am wondering if you are watering your brugs too much.. I was doing that and my leaves would turn yellow and then fall off... but I backed off on the water and now they are starting to grow! Also when I put them in too much sun my leaves scalded.. but didn't turn yellow though.. just a thought!!
Clemie... girlie... you have a good weekend??
Off to check out a few other places.. and then off to bed.. I am tired tonight, and I have already worked all day ..IN MY MIND... for tomorrow..hehe

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Hi my precious HOTTIES! I got quite a bit done outside, got the ladder out there, no new buds :( yet. Finally buried some EE's coleus and sweet tater vine in the pots out front.. One of Drew's friends liked my new pots... (they've been there 2 or 3 years).. :) I'm sore, pulled something in my low back moving the plumie pot 3ft. I'm calling it a day. Goodnight, sweet dreams.....zzzzzzzzzz

just scroll to the bottom of the thread to see whats left....sorry to hijack the thread with an off topic subject...I'm gonna get the noose from my DH if I dont come out even in this co-op! ugh! just a bit stressed tonight! lol!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Beck, I decided to lay low on the watering of my brugs and see if that was the problem. I heard they like a lot of water so guess I was going overboard. It is such a nice green plant except for those yellow ones now and then. Will know more in a few days. The rooted one Kimarj sent me is starting to put out new leaves so I'm not going to worry about her, but the cuttings I may lose, sure hope not.

Pegi

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Morning Hotties! Pegi, it is normal to lose a few leaves, especially when they are growing like crazy.. Maya is shedding a few, old and new leaves, I think she is trying to set buds. Try the water cut back, but don't let them go completely dry to fry the roots. Does water drain well from the holes in the pot when you water them? They like moisture, just not soggy roots. Thanks for the link on, Anjl, I still haven't looked about the named brug coop... gotta go! Have great days everyone!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Good morning! Sigh, it is back to work for me tonight. My two weeks of leisure are done. Gonna be a hot one here today. Going to go and enjoy the flowers while it's cool. Everyone have a great day!

Back to work for me today too Lavender. But, as long as I can check in every now and then from the office, I can make it! :-)
Gorgeous aster. Yours are already blooming?

Donna -

This is a late post to your question but I found that staking my cuttings really helped them grow fast. But you probably won't be able to remove the stakes until the trunk is overwintered for a year. But I'm guessing you can't leave yours in the ground, can you?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

cmdelg, snowbank is a varigated leaf brug. Unlike Maya who seems to love sun, snowbank is a snow bird, put her in the sun and she gets crispy quickly.

This morning was so nice I got to playing outside and got to work at 7:30, I am usually there by 6. LOL.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Joyce, I remember now, (the white and pink brug), the one that looks like Insignis is Isabella... ring any bells? Hi Amanda! Shall we say that velcro strips would work good for holding to the stakes, until it's strong enough to hold up on it's own? You'd need to loosen it occasionally to allow for trunk growth. Sorry Louise and Cat, It's painful the first couple days after going back from time away.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Clem, Joyce and I got our Snowbanks when we when greenhousing earlier in spring, we talked about it, before I shoved it in her cart. lol .. it's care is most unusual for a brug... After crispy edges, and DG, it's full shade and only minimal direct sunrise sun, that got the browning to stop.. I love the leaves..

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

oh my ... you guys are scaring me. I just bought a snowbank seedling from eBay and put it in the ground in full sun!! Agh! It's new leavea re looking fabulous but if full sun isn't good in your zones, then I'm sure it's horrible in mine. Yikes! What to do!??!?!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Aw, Amanda, darn it. I really think you should move it.. If it doesn't start getting brown crispy edges, it may not be a Snowbank.. Of course Joyce's and mine weren't seedlings when we purchased..they were 1-2 ft rooted/growing. I had it in direct sun from 11 -1 and it didn't like it. I have it under a maple tree and it only gets early early morning direct sun and not for very long. In the late afternoon, I've noticed is getting an hour or so of dappled sun when the wind is blowing the trees.. I moved it over with the sun luvva's for a family portrait. Poor guy, looks like he's quarantined over there in his happy place, with the hosta... lol

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey sis's..
Bonnie & Joyce..That snowbank is something else!! So pretty with the varigated leaves.. I love varigated anything!!

I'm still kinda lazy today and I slept till 9:30!! Oh it's soo nice that I don' have to work, but if I did I can promise ya'll I would have to work 2nd shift.. no mornin glory here..hehe

Peg... hope your DH is doing better, and he went to the Dr... I know all about the caregiver business.. I feel for you!! Come back to us.. I may have a problem I need consult on..hehe!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Becky, you little sleepy head! lol, I'm not a morning person either. Good thing I don't have to talk to anyone till my caffeine level is up, I'm at work and half way ready to function. I was thinking about Peg and her DH too. Hope he went, at least for some pain killers, they may knock him out for a few minutes, so Peg can at least get her flowers watered and poke her head in here and say Hi.. (tehe?) Peg, you know I'm just funnin' ya. We hope DH is on the road to recovery and we miss you. I'm keeping my mind open on Snowbank. I just don't see how he'll ever bloom without getting sun.. but that's part of the fun and continuing brug education. Gordonhawk, lives in Brooklyn has one on his rooftop garden, I think I remember him posting blooms last year or was it this spring? I might d-mail him and see if he has any pointers.

(Cathy), MO

AuntB, the big blue tubs in your picture above...how big are they and where did you get them?? I have a couple I think need potting up and have been looking for bigger "quarters" for them. That don't cost an arm and a leg!!!

In winter do you move tub and all inside??

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Hi Cat. They are 25 gallon tubs, HD, Lowes, Walmat... around $8 now, I think... ($5 when I bought those).. they have the corded handles. I've even spray painted a red with krylon spray paint. Yes, I do move tub, brug and all inside for winter. Warning: May need another person or 2 when moving, they are HEAVY. The bottoms are flat and as big around as the top, I think it helps stablize them in wind. They aren't real pretty, but the pretty is what is above the pot.

(Cathy), MO

Do I need to put mine in pots that big this year? This is their first year and I'm not sure how big they will get

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Cat, I pot mine up about 3 or 4 times before they go into a "tub". They go from 3-5 gallon black nursery pots into the 25 gal tubs. If the big pots you have them in are drying out quickly and the brug is getting some size and height to it, I'd get it in the tub and settled in before it's time to bring them in for winter. If they are staying damp, it's okay to leave them. Hey, if you need some bigger pots (smaller than the corded handle tub size) check out privately owned nurseries (not HG or Lowes) Blackburn's here sold me the 5 gal black nursery pots for less than $1 each.

(Cathy), MO

No nurseries in my area at all! Except Walmarts & Sutherlands. I'd love to find something like a Blackburn's down here!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Cat, I need a few for brugs, if I get out of work soon enough today, I can stop by there on my way home. Let me see what I come up with this time. Maybe I can mail some to you... they shouldn't be too heavy if you just want half a dozen or so.. and there's the fall RU but you probably need them before that.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

All the digging I did Sat. and Sun. getting my lilies and brug in the ground, now I have bursitis in my right arm, from shoulder to wrist! Appppppppointment with DR. tomorrow morning, hopefully he'll give me a shot of cortizone.
My brugs are just beautiful little plants! If any of you are going to trim your brugs soon, I'd like to arrange to send one or two to my best friend in Ala! She's amazed at all I tell her about you guys, but she doesn't have a pc. And she would love all this! She's crazier than I am! We used to go up on the mountain by our houses and bring half of it back down, then be to tired to plant it!

(Cathy), MO

Thanks AuntB. How far are you from KC?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)
