Hello Hotties!!!
Just peeking in ya'll ;o) My brugie babies are doign just fine were I placed them. They are on the North side of my house so they are getting just a bit of the Western sun throughout the day. Nothing direct until about 4pm til dusk. Am I doing the sun/shade right?? You know I'm a new Mommy so I don't wanna hurt my babies :o) Also, I think I read somewhere here...up a few posts....I was planning on feeding mine with the liquid MG fertilizer too, I have one of those liquid feeder guys that attaches to the hose (AnjL has one, maybe it was her post) anywho do i feed my babies with liquid fertilizer or the powders stuff that you mixe into the soil?? I have them planted in MG Organic Potting soil, which has 2 months worht of time released food. And on habd I have Dry MG Organic Food (the powder form, doesn't desolve in water), MG Crystal food (the kind that DOES dissolve in water) and MR liquid feeder (the one that attatches to the hose) So that's what I got.... any suggestion and or recommendationd would be greatly appreciated ;o) Thank you Hottie Sis's!!
You all have a wonderful day!! Still having lovely weather, only 75* outside right now!! Yippee, this weather could stay all summer for me here, I won't have to turn the AC on and DH won't have a heartattack each time he opens the power bill!!!
I'll be a lurkin' {{{HUGS}}} *smootches* & love ~melissa
She's about to ....#6 : )
Aunt B. You were right the first time! Isn't Cicely good?
Melissa, I have an old hose sprayer, too. Mine uses the powdered MG, and it mixes with the water as you spray it!
Aunt B, I lost count of my brugs! I've given some of them away! I have 7 inside rooting now, that I just got!
Hi all ya Hotties!
Have 2 blooms on two different brugs this morning. Took pictures but don't have time to post.
Not hot here in zone 5, 65 degrees and rain most of the day.
Zone 5, don't let it fool you, they say we have summers as hot as Georgia and winters as cold as Minnesota. Ok why do I live here is the real question!
Today was the water garden tour for Kansas City, got to see 3 beautiful gardens before we got rained out. One guy had lots of tropicals but no brugs. Took some pictures. Will post a few of them. I think you will love them.
The tour is on tomorrow 44 gardens in total but I have so much to do I don't think I can take the time and try again. I have plants to pack and strawberries to plant and weeds have grown again because of the rain.
Will post pictures later, have a party to go to....yeah
Hello Hotties!! just stopping bye, today is DH's birthday made his fav cake and dish : ) I'll be back to see the pics!!!!!
Don't be rubbing the good weather in. It's 98 here and I think it's getting hotter. It probably won't even get down to 75 during the night.!! That's the good old Texas summers. That's when I say, "why do I live here?" lol
Hi HOTTIES! Thanks, Audrey. Everybody gets to have as many brugs as they want.. I didn't get much accomplished today with the rain, but it was cool and we needed some moisture (sorry Lorraine ;). I feed mine the blue or pink crystals that dissolve in water, Peters, MG or whatever 20-20-20 I can find, just sprinkled on the top and watered in, (mixed when they are itty bitty babies).. and they get potted in MG potting mix with worm castings and Bayer 2 in 1, watered in with S.Thrive. I got 2 repotted today.. A cutting from a pink noid I started from seed 4 or 5 years ago, Amanda's Pink Tree Brug, and a Cupids Blush... Still at least 3 more to go this time and I still have a couple hibiscus to pot up.. Just love summertime! I'll try to remember to post a pic of my pot-up...the pots beside them are what I took them out of. They were ready, nice thick white roots.
Melissa you're in zone 9, so that may be enough sun.. here our sun is burning hot by 4 oclock, too intense and hot if they hadn't been used to having direct sun on them through the day., if yours are growing well, it must be good.
Happ! Congratulations!!! Have a great party! We'll be looking forward to your pics!
Kim, Happy Birthday to DH, what kind of cake? mmmmmmm cake that sounds good! Gotta get busy here, Good Nite Everyone!
Well I keep searching, but no blooms yet. I did not really expect them this soon, as the plant is only about a month old, but she is growing fast. I have all mine on the east side of my car port, and they get the morning sun till about 1:00 or so, then shade for the rest of the day. So far they are all looking good. Even the wilted sticks I got from ebay, are popping out new leaves. So with some luck I hope to see a bloom soon.
I wish I could go on the garden tour with you. It sounds nice, so post pictures when you can.
Hotties, please be carefull working in the heat, don't over do it.
Good nite.
Linda Kay
AuntB that potting area looks just tooooo neat. My potting area always looks like an explosion of dirt. On my patio, on my clothes, and anything in my vicinity! I took my coffee out with me this morning and set it 4 feet away and when I went to drink it, there was MG soil in it!
Lavender4ever when you take your coffee out with you be sure you put a cover over it. I can't pot up anything without getting soil all over including myself. Martha Stewart doesn't seem to have a problem, but then I don't want to be a MS.
My brugs from Kimarj haven't perked up yet, keep on checking on them.
After watering and puttering around this evening I had enough dirt on my jeans to support plant life, if I'd held still long enough for something to grow.
Mary
lol. I am probably the only gardener who can wear gloves and have more INSIDE than out. Nite hotties!
Beautiful blooms!
beautiful color Happ!
Love that bloom Joyce!
Hello Hottie sis's!!.. Ya'll got some pretty blooms!!.. EmmaGrace is trying her best to get me addicted to MG's... gave me a bunch... we'll see..hehe... oh and I have a pink perfection... but she is only about 5" tall..
I really like the fairy collection Audrey... I am collecting anything I consider yard art.. course beauty is in the eye of the beholder..hehe
Everybody is quiet... where's everyone at..just lurking??
Someone has mentioned before, when brug's leaves droop under hot sun, it's normal. The plant's physiology is complex....I think it was Lavender4ever? This is my age old brug that's planted in the ground in my zone. It will gradually perk up, the leaves become turgid once again as the sun ray subsided....
Have a good weekend everyone.
Just came in been just over whelmed by the weeds. I just don't even know where to start. Thinking about getting a paint brush and start painting on weed killer. Has anyone tried anything like that? I saw where a guy tied a sponge to a yard stick, dipped it into weed killer and would dab it where he needed it. What do you guys think?
Happ, that sounds like a wonderful idea. You have a better control of not getting the herbicide onto your desired plants....
Lily I feel just like that brug on a hot day myself! Weeds are killin me here too with all the rain. It has been a daily battle. Just went out this morning to whack down my thistle patch near the air conditioner. I cannot kill those suckers with anything! I sprayed them and sprayed them and they came back with even more than ever this year. I am just gonna keep whackin em till they go somewhere else!
Hi Ladies and James! It got too hot out there for this Hottie, I don't bounce back like the brugs! You girls, take it easy! I like the yard stick idea, Joyce! It was a Pink Beauty Brug. Pink Perfektion is a multiple, double? (James's has buds) The white/pink I think is insignis or ...can't remember the other one like it... Both PRETTY! How's the smell? Audrey I love all your fairy stuff, I have a few elves and fairies. and a creepy gargole.. The potting pic was set up..lol, It was a clean spot the right height for seeing what I was doing.. Poor little guys kept blowing over.. Louise, PRETTY MG! Here's Kniola Black..
Hey Hotties!! Moodene is looking for interest in a named brug co-op over on the co-op forum!!!
AuntB Kniola Black is a stunner : )
Thank you AuntB, I will put a tag on Pink Beauty right now! She has a lovely smell. So does the other. Actually between the lilies and the brugs, you would think you were in a Hottie place with all the sweet smells at night!
Does MG stand for morning glory?
Getting boxes ready, this evening. Labor of love.
Happgarden, did you not order one of the Weed Ezes? Wonderful for putting out weed killer. There was a co op a while back and I got one--best thing I ever did!!! I'll see if I can find the information and send to you.
abbisgranma, darn!
No I missed that coop. Looks like a deal.
My brug keeps getting yellow leaves, even some of the tiny baby leaves. I kind of figured I may be giving it too much water?? I keep on going out and checking on her, and some cuttings I just put in pots. Those poor babies really need some TLC.
Pegi
Pegi are you keeping them out of the hot sun??
The babies I don't put in the sun at all and the bigger one I let her have morning sun. This sun is so darn hot these days so I keep on moving them around so they get a lot of shade.
Pegi
Maybe the trip was too much. This Fall I will have more to share : )
Thanks Kim but I'm not giving up on them yet. The rooted one you sent will be doing OK I am sure, but those little ones are struggling. I have one large plant I got from ZZs in Lodi and that one is beautiful but some leaves turning yellow. Watching them very close too.
Ladies, I'm going to go to bed and try to sleep. I have bursitis in my right shoulder. It showed up about 11AM. I've been in pain all afternoon. It hasn't bothered me in a long time. Last night my ring finger on my left hand was so sore I couldn't stand to move or touch it. It's still alittle sore, but much better. Now, if I can just make it through the night , I'm gonna go get me a shot tomorrow!
Hi hotties, checking in after a nice week end, I'm still around, will post more later, need to check on everything else that went on this week end, Love ya, Clemen
Hello my fellow hottie sisters! Peg here after playing nursemaid all day. Half smile here. Hard-headed men turn into little boys when they get hurt and I have been trying to take good care of mine...
Doe, I love it, you posted such a cute and precious picture. This is the first picture I have seen from you. Way to go, sista! Hope your bursitis gets better. That can be very painful.
Lavender4, I know, my husband said "no gnomes or fairies." But he does like gargoyles, (surprised the heck out of me), so we have got a few of those lurking around. And I found some cute ones. DH tells me they guard against evil. I figure first gargoyles, then gnomes and then, I'll get my way eventually.
Pegi, mine are not growing as good as everybody elses and I am fussing myself to death over them. My little 7, I have three that I am sure are going to make it and 4 I'm really wondering about. They are still imitating sticks, right next to the ones that are doing good. I have moved mine several times, so I may have not found the right place yet. I don't know what is going on... but will just keep trying!
My bigger brug wilts in the afternoon, even if I have watered that morning. Scared me at first, but it does perk up quick after the sun goes down and the heat is off. (Upper 90s here.) I have sun coleus planted beside it now, and they do the same thing.
Hope everybody had a happy and good weekend! Happy brugging! Peg
The smell in the garden from the brugs is amazing! Even with just the few blooms I have. The night gets still and the aroma just floats slowly thru the garden.
Just love them!
Happgarden, so nice for you! I have one that is ready to open and she smellllllllsssssssss so nice already! Congrats on yours! CLemen
well most of my garden droops a bit in the hottest part of the day, even when I water. They all perk up later though. My brugs are getting only part sun, so mostly they don't wilt. The one time I stuck them in the bright sun they did droop.
I only have one, no id, that LOVES sun, Clemen
