Today's Weather in Your Garden - 25

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I seriously don't remember any rain other then a few quick downpours in the last 3 weeks... if my memory is right at least a week before the RU

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Wokr up to a nice genlte rain around 3:00am - and so it continues!

62 degrees, wet and wonderful!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

We haven't had any rain lately - should get some today as I'm watering this morning!!!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

You appear to be next up on the flight pattern...

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

That's funny, Anita, as that's what usually happens if I decide to water in the morning. It will then rain in the afternoon or evening!!

yeah right. It says its going to rain and I don't water and it dont rain.......

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Some wandering always happens, and I do it as much as anyone - it's just a question of degree and duration. Not trying to be a pain, but I do like to hear about nearby weather since it is likely to affect mine. It is often more reliable than forecasts or even radar. We often talk about other stuff on this thread, but still give weather info in the post.

Finally got some rain overnight. A shade under 1/2 inch so far and we should get more today.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

We soooooooooooo need rain. Had some over the Fourth, but many things are in need of a big drink. It has been great for the tourist, but not the water table. We just let the the grass burn up. Please explain why the weeds are so happy, no matter what?

Sequee, We watered part of the gardens yesterday as the weather report called for showers today. Also say we may get real rain tomorrow.

Now 70 degrees and not looking like rain. Watering restrictions are in effect for those on town water. We have a well, but I am using as little as possible.

Victor, I use what I see posted here from those along Long Island Sound as my "bellwether" . Far better than the weatherman. Funny, I always thought the word had to do with the weather, not so.... rather a male sheep with a bell around it's neck that leads the flock. I have misspelled it for years, along with everything else.

Lilies seem happy despite the lack of moisture, but I plant them deep. Here is Orienpet Lily Hybrid 'Satisfaction' which is fat and happy. Patti

Well I am pretty sure my weather doesn't affect your weather Victor LOL!!! Besides you think we live in igloos here LOL

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Temp 73.2°, Rh 61%, Wind NNE 3.3, Dp 58.8°, Baro 29.64↑. ☺

I'm watering this am too! Intense sunburn index 10 all week with no rain!
I can see the rain falling just West and North but it's not over me!

Heading towards the 'North Shore' this am.

Nice lily, Patti. Unfortunately, you're too right about the weeds. There are always ones that will thrive in any conditions, weather pattern, etc. I have seen different ones dominate from year to year - some better in drier years, etc. Others, like plantain and dandelion, seem to do well all the time.

Dawn, your weather does affect us in the winter with those arctic blasts! Do clems climb igloos?!

Cloudy - 70 degrees.

Uh oh---sorry about waxing on about FL & NE--my bad---the weather was rainy during the night & am hours, but now it is cloudy with a glimmer of sunlight. Have to run my Mon. errands, then will be in the veggie garden--weeding--picking off squash before it gets too large--of course, that was 5 min. ago!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Where's the blinkin' rain? Occasional clouds looks promising but zip, butkis, nada, zilch on the rain. Every little green blob on the radar map disappears before it gets here. Waaaa!!!! Back to hose dragging time. :(
Otherwise a nice day, good breeze and mid 70s., but no RAIN!!!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I think the grosbeak has some brown in the wing

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Have no idea what blue bird it is but it's very nice pic.
willieB is that a ref. to Mr. H takes a vacation? If so good one, LOL
Oh drat, was totally overcast with nice dark clouds as far as you could see, no rain so I thought I would go out and start a little hand watering just to amuse the rain gods. Joke is on me I'm afraid, here comes the sun again. :(

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Wow I have never seen an Indego Bunting.
A treat

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, they usually swing away!

75 and very humid. Still waiting for more rain...

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

ngam...same here. A little sun, then cloudy and very humid. If I were Powdery Mildew or Early Blight I would really like this weather.

Awesome shot, David.
I haven't seen rain in weeks. Rains north or south of me by mere miles.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

No rain here either. Not seeing any heading our way.

I am taking a break from our final push to finish edging beds and attach the deer fence and a rabbit fence (wire) at the bottom to the lovely new wooden fence our carpenter built for us that separates the front yard from most of the gardens. I wish I could add another 70 feet of the nice wooden one and not have the ugly plastic part. But way too many bucks to keep out the Bucks and Bunnies now. We won't be done today, but the big dirt moving is now mostly done. Bone tired already. Back to lay weed barrier along the fence line. It should help some. I put a new kind down in the dell around my endless stream in the early spring and it has been great this year. No weeds where we always had many in the pine needle paths. Patti

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Verydark clouds and wind, storms are coming.
Closing windows.
Thats fast

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

What happened?

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Ewww that's awful willieB. Yuck yuck yuck! I had to spray some yarrow and salvia of all things with soapy water solution this am for PM. Still waiting for a rain shower to come this way. I guess some people have got a nice downpour but not a drop down here.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Mildew?? .... the faucet for the hose is there and it has a small crack.

Here is how they looked a month ago ......

- Thanks Sequee, well that's about as close as they came today, (the rains). At least it was cloudy for most of the day here, ( If I can't have the rain I don't want the scorching sun!). Supposed to be nice, (though dry), until Thursday, when the heat kicks in...

South Hamilton, MA

Glad that we had some rain--mandatory watering ban sign in town just went up. Watering during the day and attomatic sprinkler systems which go on even if it is raining are disgusting.

People like that have no morals.
