Today's Weather in Your Garden - 25
88 and sunny. 40% humidity. Hot, but dry day. Worse to come. I'll be in the pool a lot the next few days.
I didn't know that you can weed from the pool.
I like to put seaweed in the pool to feel like the ocean! Actually, I try to minimize weeding this time of year. Way too hot. Only do what I really have to.
Agree way too hot. But weeds are too many--why do they persist now that the "watering ban " is posted.
Did weed today--veggies & perennials---pulled out at least 10 asters---they are very weedy, & spread like crazy--plus they are about 5 ft. tall, & shade other plants out. Temp was mid-eighties, but low humidity---not a bad day!
Whoa - a very cool morning turned into a really hot afternoon. Now it's back down to 70; tomorrow should be even warmer! We went to Agway to buy a lilac for a friend's new home, and I walked away with a delphinium, a black knight buddleia and a scarlet monarda.....Yikes.....not sure how that happened. it must have been the heat and the sale prices!! LOL Hope it's cool tomorrow morning so I can get these in the ground. I also got a mixed mammoth caladium order from Bill at Caladiumbulbs4less, so those have to get in the ground tomorrow too!
Wow - just starting those caladium now?
Robindog....what kind of asters were those?
68* now going to 90
More storms.
Hope my orienpets open today.

sun's out still very drippy and humid.
very drippy thick here, too. I hate it when the arms on my computer's chair get that tacky sticky feeling. Esp. when there is a ton of design work to accomplish!
I think we are in for (2) days of the 90ºs, GE1836
72 and sunny. 60% humidity. Hot, humid one on tap.

YEP thats it. loked it up in a nursery to see how tall it gets and how far apart to plant it.
It's at the edge of the row now. I'll move it back later, soon as the Tomatoes are gone.
Temp 78.2°, Wind NW 2.2, Rh 53%, Baro 29.94 steady. ☺
Clear Skies with a slight haze/ pale blue sky.
Tried to do a Liquid Fence run but heard thunder.
Tomorrow is another day.
Here on Nantucket it is 73 now and heading to the low 80's. I don't think it will be as bad as our 85 yesterday. But it is the humidity not the heat that gets to me and everyone else, I assume. No rain, and the wind is less than 5 mph now. Humidity is at 85% and UV index is 9. Only rain that might be in our forecast is for Sunday. Garden is wilting like in the Wizard of Oz and I feel the same trying to work out in it.
I finally looked up on a good site about the UV index. http://www.wtkr.com/Global/story.asp?S=130535
We just had a house guest that has had two recent melanoma's removed on his neck, so he was wandering about in the garden looking more like a Bedouin in a Kafiya than a Swedish American from NYC. But that scarfs idea works better than a hat for a cover up. While here he had a call from his sister in Calif who just was diagnosed with one too. But both caught early.
DH and I went to a nursery yesterday, but we will not planting anything until the fall. We are dry to the bone. Out to deadhead and weed. Don't fry. Patti

GE: I have a small business that does large-format digital printing up to 52-inches, any length. Today's client is boring and uninspired, hahaha .... so, my creativity is not being so challenged, at the moment.
sun out now but nuther storm commin.
Still waiting for Red Dutch to open.
86 now we are supposed to get to 97!!!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!
88, but dry. I'll be in the pool soon. Not humid like they predicted.
I'm going to move INTO the refrigerator. It's miserable out there and expected to be even worse tomorrow.

Watering daily.
Cold air and cold beer...
Temp 90.8°, Rh 31%

Victor - yeah, just starting the caladiums now.....but the funny thing is ...the ones I planted much earlier are just now coming up anyway! These I just received have begun to put out shoots, so we'll see how far they get before I have to rip them from their gentle soil-homes! LOL
Yes, they really need the heat. I started mine in mid-June and they're only getting going now. Also, I de-eye them, which also sets them back a bit, but results in many more initial shoots.
My Caladiums are finally cranking it up too. But they have had plenty of heat! Today was a bust in the garden. I took a few pictures, snipped a few spent blooms and headed into town for lunch with a friend and then took a house tour which was a fund raiser for the Preservation Trust. Got to walk through some lovely homes and a few gardens. Homes all very done, except one that was charmingly quaint and actually appeared lived in. The others all maybe too done. No breathing allowed. The gardens all had lots and lots and lots and lots of blue hydrangeas. Maybe too many. But a fun couple of hours. The best thing I saw to imitate was a great long window sill in a kitchen above the sink that the owner had had a piece of 1/4 plate glass cut to fill the length of the sill to put plants on. No water stains, easy to clean and it looked great.
Here is caladium 'Florida Moonlight' from Brent and Becky which virtually all white. kind of cool. Patti
Now 68 and very pleasant inside but no rain.
HIGH 81° F
LOW 67° F

HUMIDITY 94%

Truth be told, I couldn't fit my own fat butttt in there, but it would be fun drinking all the beer and pretending...
Lovely outside tonight, but the house is HOT. Gonna be fun sleeping upstairs!

Saw some mean looking clouds coming in from the ocean late afternoon but now just a hazy summer night sky.
Same old story here today. Storms all around, but nada for me.
Sequee, don't come here as my refrigerator decided to stop working last week and the needed part is still not here. Luckily we have a second smaller one downstairs in the family room. But all the beer was ejected in favor of edibles. It is a pain to have to drag stuff upstairs to cook so we are eating lots of sandwiches this week for supper. The freezer is still working or we would have had to have farmed out some major stuff. We stock up in May so we can avoid the market during the summer.
DH went online today and tracked the part down and is having it overnighted as the appliance place is not getting another order until mid week. They do have a tech to install the part when it comes. We cancelled a big BBQ we had planned for this weekend. I would hate to kill 20 good friends. Moon is last night's. Patti
Patti ...
If you like the older, more lived in, houses where you can breathe, then you will love mine! "Lived in" would be a polite description!!
Yeah. It's gonna be hot and sticky again this weekend. I am not looking forward to it, as we plan on working outside on the new rocky gardens again. It's 59 degrees outside now, but the humidity is already up to 87%.
