(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh BJ, did you have to post that? Sob, sob just thinking about mine getting older!! Life does happen tho and yes, it is just a phase (we hope).

Brisket? Oh you are making my hotdogs sound less than inviting now. Hummmm? Nope to late maybe another day.

Plano, TX

oh i love hot dogs on the grill too! i love them burned to a crisp!
bj my son's fire house has perfected a brisket recipe too! they smoke it! i always thought that if i were to go vegetarian the brisket is what i would most miss! well pulled pork too---
yea-teen agers are like that--can't really blame them since i was the same way then

I'm up again!!
Happy 4th Bev! Welcome to our little community of happy sistas! Hope you stay clear of the crazies out on the road today.
Bev has an awesome collection of hostas!

Linda, I fix brisket, cajun style. Butterfly, stuff with hot cajun chow-chow, close it, rub the outside with dry Cajun spices and brown sugar. Let it sit overnight in the fridge. Next morning...here's my secret to fast tender cooking...place it in a turkey bag. Seal it, put it in a roaster and cook for about 3 hours @ 350.
Justin Wilson cooked his ribs that way, and I figured, why not a brisket.

They have all these competitions on good bbq, I still think for traditional ones, you can't beat a good Texan style brisket. Yep, I'm prejudice that way ^_^

Hot dogs sound good too Marion. Think I'll do that tonight. With chili....one of those instant Campbell's mix with Wolf's and onions and chopped cilantro.

What's for dessert at the Wilson's house today?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

NOPE... Marion... stick to the Hot Dogs today... I think that's what I'm going to have too... got all the fixins for it.

Yea, when my kids went through that phase, I missed them too... and at times wanted to kill them... other times, wanted to pack their things and wave goodbye as they were walking out the door... other times... well, I had to love them more than I thought I could... it all paid off, though... they're really good young men now (well, 33-37 isn't really young, but to me they're still kids) ... so, there's hope for the grandkids too, I pray.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

OH BJ that is young!!! Cause mine are 44 and almost 46 and they are definitely young to me!! Oh I remember those stages well and the prayers to just let me survive--or maybe them.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I can't say anything..no kids..no grandkids...
Kids nowadays just don't think it's cool to be seen hanging out with grandparents. Whereas, me and my siblings love it when we got our grandparents' attention.
Tomorrow morning, my church gf and I will be looking for garden stuffs at garage sales. Her grandson, who's 6 wanted to come along with us. I don't know whether he'd feel that way when he turns 13.

Plano, TX

i cannot believe you ladies are old enough to have kids that age--so you were child brides were you?
ok-now the chili dogs are sounding good!
and i love the idea of the chow chow in the middle of the brisket! brisket is always on sale for the 4th too!
now if only you alll could come over i would have an excuse to make brisket, chili dogs and get some KFC!! too bad one of us doesn't have a private jet to pick up the others--anyone with their own private jet?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

NOPE, Jaye... she should welcome and enjoy him while he's 6... cause all the rules change when they reach their teens.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Just enjoy it while you can Jaye--even if borrowed. I'll share my GDs with you, okay? Just be forwarned the 5 year old's mind is like a sponge!!!! 3year old a little like her GM--walks to the beat of her own drummer!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Someone told me that when they turn 13 they take a shower and the water runs in one ear and washes brains out the other. Brains don't return until 20s--not real certain of that.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Don says that when they turn 13 aliens abduct them... replace them with some other species.. then return them when their 25.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Works too. DD says that about SIL--after 12 years has finally loosened up and is fun to be with--DD explanation: Body snatchers replace.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Jaye, how you feeling today? Any better?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lolol!! Aliens amongst us!! Body snatchers!!
Wanted: A body snatcher to kidnap an alien disguised as MIL.
Thanks for asking BJ. How a little extra rest can revive the body.
Marion, is that the one that's a destruction addict, the 3 year old?? Send her over!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep... a hot bath, bubbles, a fluffy pillow, and bed rest ... it cures everything that ails you.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yeap that's the one!!! Be well rested before she arrives--as she is a live one!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

On to another room----cookies and coffee, everyone!
