really? an atheist coming up with such a good god quote?
i know--i even feel bad if i am tol lazy to throw something in the compost and put it in the trash instead! that's what a bad guy i am!
**SWEET INTERRUPTION** 2
Ok... this aught to be good...
Let's hear everyone's greatest gardening sins...
I have several.
1. zone pushing... Tropical gardens were created to be in the tropics... not in Texas.
2. buying a plant just because its pretty... and not having a clue how to take care of it.
3. transplanting them too often... get tired of them being in the same place all the time.
4. plastic pots... I cook too many roots that way... trying to replace them with better pots.
5 Round UP... the only CHEMICAL I use that not organic.
6. Refusing to give up... when it's dead, it's dead... but I keep trying to bring it back to life.
NOW... let's here yours !!!
It's confession time.

Ahhh...good for the soul...confession time...
1. Of course, zone pushing. Latest victim, a ginger that will grow only in zone 10 and above.
2. Will throw textbooks away, and plant wherever I see space, oblivious to whether shade or sun.
3. Overwater or underwater.
4. Overfeed or underfeed.
5. Letting plants get rootbound in pots.
6. Not transplanting them as needed. Forced plants to adapt :( or die!
7. Refused to give up on germinating seeds. My success rate is as good as the blind man who could speed read..not braille...
8. Husssh...some brugs I Neem'd and use soap spray fortified with organic seaweed...others......BAYER'S :D
9. Will eat tuna sandwich, forgo that much needed purse, just to win that #*@!
plant on eBay.
10. Others don't get Christmas presents, so that I could have more money for plants :D Well...in no time...spring will just be there!
WOW Jaye, that's 10 sins... you win.
Whee, I can now sigh!! I have been waiting all day to hear of your escapades ladies!! BJ, didn't you notice I was up unusallly early this morning. So envious of the two of you being able to get together finally.
Oh no, oh my gosh!! Now I'm worried--Deborah and I are trying to get together. What if she is a man? What if she is weird? What if? What if? I'll never sleep tonight now!!
Then again I do spell my name with and "o"--am I really a man? Does anyone know for sure? Ah ha, do I have all of you fooled? LOL Seriously, I can see everyone's concerns at meeting but sometimes it just feel right!! Go with the feelings.
Audrey I am so glad you have a gnome baby. I am getting so excited about this project!!
They say confession is good for the soul, right? Well I confess to:
1. Buying wait more plants than I can get planted
2. Buy them because they are pretty knowing full well I don't have much sun.
3. Hating to take something out of the planter even though it is past their prime
4. Just buying period.
You're right BJ, Jaye is definitely the winner--big time!! Go girl!!
yea jayes got me beat too!
i have a hard time passing up a bargain plant that i don't really need or have a place for or whatever--
i forget to fertilize both grass and plants
the later in the summer the worse i get about keeping up with the weeding or watering--
i put off watering the compost pile because it's just too much effort!
i hardly ever pick flowers to put in a vase and enjoy-but always think i will
Oh,... Linda... I'm also guilty of all those too.. so my list just got longer...
I also added one to my list above... #6.
yes --when it's dead it's dead! i don't do well on that either-maybe if i move it
maybe if i give it more water, less water, more time, cut it back---like the elephant bulb we both looked at and said "maybe it will still grow"!
ANd that bulb will still be sitting there for years and years until I see a leaf.
Marion, I've always thought you're a female...like Maid Marion of Robin Hood?
Lolol...you'll be fine...Deborah's a swap addict, there's no way she's a he..
Linda, at least you have a compost pile! I just throw everything in the trash. Bad bad gardener.
If we can add another sin .. it's DG. Spending too much time here after gardening!
That's a shame..10 and still counting. I
'm trying very hard not to buy anymore plants, serious!!!! Got this spot picked out for another gardenia, then told myself to hurry up and plant any from the ones still in pots laying in wait.
After I did that...found another perfect place for that soon to be purchased gardenia! Sigh...
oh yes-----------too much time on dave's! so true--cannot stay away too long
Oh God BJ!!! I give everything 3 years to prove themselves. Had 2 crinums that took 2 years to show leaves!
Dead may never be dead, GF!!
Tsk Tsk... Jaye... just imagine all the nutrients your denying your babies by throwing all that away... bad ... bad... gardener.
I have 3 composters... a big one that's contained by a fence and on the ground... a 55 gal barrel that turns (when I remember to turn it)... and a kitchen composter for kitchen waste.
I DON"T THROW ANYTHING AWAY (almost)
Yea, but when the last wisteria got crispy limbs after about 6 months... I watered it for another 2 1/2 years ... when I threw it out it was but a stick about 3" long sticking out of the dirt...
did you have a burial service for it?
Why yes Jaye, I am indeed Maid Marion as in Robin Hood. My 5 year old GD informed me one day that is who I am. I didn't even know about Robin Hood at 5 much less Maid Marion. I'm also Missy to my family.
I have another confession! Well maybe several--I stopped by Lowe's on the way home. The plant clearance table was calling me name as I walked thorugh the door. 75% off for distressed plants. Yeap I now own 3 4section planters of Pine Tree Sedum for my fairy garden. Looked good to me but if they wanted to call them distress--long be it for me to argue with them. They so look like minature pine trees and are suppose to get only 6" tall. Wahoo--can't wait to plant them.
now that is not a confession--that was just good bargain hunting!
Thank you very much my dear. I thought so too!!! In fact, I may tell my DD I'll do the grocery shopping tomorrow so I can stop by again. Huge rack and nothing looked distressed to me!! Maybe I just don't recognize distressed.
i love the grocery shopping idea! i do that too--find reasons to be in the neighborhood of the local lowes because if your that close why it would be silly not to stop in and just take a look!
i am off the computer for the night--
bj about wore me out today!! goodnight all!~
Shivering here BJ...and to think I have all the materials at hand to make a good compost bin...yes, I'm ashame....
Rainbow Dreams, Linda!
Nitey nite Linda !--you have earned an early night.
Yikes I forgot about compost. I think I'd better stop while I am ahead now. Did find an ad in the paper today for rainbarrels for $49.00 a local feed store. Might have to check them out very soon. That is also on my wish list--4 rain barrels please!! My kids think I have gone-no correction--am getting nuttier.
Marion, I had to look at Lowes today too... after Linda left... I went shopping... needed a new dremmel cause Don couldn't fix the one I broke.
Anyway, I got a spreading juniper to put in my garden... grows low to the ground... and I needed a forest look in one of the areas... also got some tiny cactuses... will probably kill them too, cause I've never had cactus... but they kinda have that "magical" feel to them.
Jaye, that sounds like Kel's next project... get that compost going girl... you're plants will thank you.
Yes, I'm soooo happy to have my little gnomy! I love him!
I have all the gardening sins y'all have! (And maybe more!)
Good night!
NIGHT Audrey... hope you get rid of your head ache. Tomorrow is another day.
Nite Audrey. Chat tomorrow --I still have the Baileys.
Well, Kel admits we need one BJ. I've been buying so much bags, it's enough to fertilize the Gobi desert!!!!
Is that a good price Marion?
Am now using 55 gallon drums bought at $7 a piece from salvage yards. Been dipping the water out. Might have to find a way to fix a pump using flexible hoses to siphon off water.
Body's mighty tired, gonna do an early special tonight...Early to bed!!
Rainbow dreams my sistas! Audrey, if you're lurking, I know where Marion hid your bottle!!
Wow..I'm missing so many posts, while trying to get mine out. That's how slow my typing skill is!!!!!
CYA tomorrow .. and please pray for Betty.
I dont know if it is a good price or not since you said you only paid $7.00. If they are finished with the fittings then yes, it is a good price. If just barrels, then they will keep them. The other I have seen around here run about $149.00 up--to expensive for me!!
Have a good night Jaye, I called it early last night--actually computer did it for me. Wouldn't connect to internet.
What's wrong with Betty?
Ok, I'm calling it a night too... but I am not going to sleep well till I know what's wrong with Betty... did I miss something?
My post got lost! I am not sure of all the detail but she has had swelling problems (several size differences) and then she needed to see a specialist after her colonoscopy. Not really sure which this appointment is in regard to but do hope it all goes well for her! Eye getting very blurry while trying to read all the threads.
I hesitated going to bed... waiting for an answer..
thank you, Marion .. I will keep her in my prayers.
Jaye may know more but that is what I have been able to read so far. It is concerning and I too will be praying for her. BTW, how have you been doing?
OK, Jaye, where'd she hide my Baileys?
I've been to sleep, woke up and made coffee! I may stay up. Lotta runnin' to do today! Paid my bills last night, now it's grocery day again! Hope I don't forget the coldwater Tide! I love that stuff! It wont burn holes in your clothes like bleach will if you spill it!
Hope you're better, Betty! Good luck Hon!
Good morning everyone. Hope your all doing well, and ready for the 4th. We will be running out to get fireworks, and make a good dispaly for the grandkids. We live on the outskirts of the city, so we don't have to worry about shooting them off, like those living in the city.
Y'all be carefull, and have a great week-end.
Linda Kay
Morning Sunshine !!!
Well, the lake is filling up with people for the holiday... seems like overnight every house on our street now has somebody in it for the long weekend. It's gonna be a dangerous weekend on lakes all over, so be careful ... all of you... watch out for those crazy people out there.
Linda, are you sore this morning? I remember the first time I rode a jet ski, I was sore the next morning, and for a few days after. Hope I didn't wear you out too much. Ahem, but remember, it was YOU that wanted to stay out longer... you had the option. LOLOL
Marion, I'm doing fine... just needing a pain pill every few days... but if you recall, I told you my theory... and it is around this time that it always begins to stop hurting... maybe my theory holds water after all.
So, Jaye... tell me more about Betty's problem... is she in the hospital? How serious is it?
Well, another cup of coffee, and a little while longer to chat, then I'm off to work in the yard some before it gets too hot today... and snoop the neighborhood to see who all is here this weekend. LOL (a neighbor down the street has some flowering something, and I don't know what it is, so I've been waiting for them to come down to ask them)
Good day sistahs! Brought kitty # 5 and Mama cat to the vet today. We thought that Mama cat maybe at least 3 years' old, cause she does a remarkable job in taking care of her kitties. But vet said she's less than a year! Poor thing, a kitty herself when she got pregnant.
Then there was this lady with a 16 year old Chi, in tears. Got me crying along too.
It's another work day at the shop, so we won't be celebrating. This little 1 turkey town (chorus) surprisingly will have a fireworks display at the high school grounds.
Not going to that neither. Kel is not into boating or any water sports. So, we will be far from those drunk revellers.
Anyway, Marion's pretty much summed it up. Betty's supposed to be getting a CAT scan Friday, to see what's going on in her tummy. Don't we all love her dearly and will pray that they'll find the answers.
Here's her prayer thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/869466/
BJ, hope your yard won't get trampled thoughtlessly! You know how some kids are. Pain? Oh dear....as long as every few days, and not constant.
I tend to forget pushed myself to get things done, and then later pay big time with Darvocet!
