TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/868558/
Okay y'all chocoholics! It's Raspberry Chocolate Bundt Cake!

Deborah has been busy putting more plants in her garden, I read on another thread. Well I thought of being lazy today---but had to do more planting instead. Don't want your kind thoughts of me reversed :D
Got these in the ground--worked for 2 hours in the hot sun! Some occasional breeze has helped.
Daylilies:
Footloose Fancy
Javanese Jewel
Chasing Windmill
Moonlight masquerade
Chinese Scholar
Alexa Kathryn
10 Noids
Beloved Deceiver
Victorian Lace
Camillias:
Sarah Bernhardt
Moonglo
Mrs. Betty Scheffield
And...
Gardenia Vetch

Got rid of a white butterfly ginger bed. Those can be invasive!
BTW, the only work I did was to point where they should be planted :D

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You need more white ones? I'll send you some!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Jaye, are those the ones that only get about 4-6" tall? if so, I want some... if not, I don't.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sis, one can neverhave too many ginger

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I got a pink oriental lily today.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, they get to be 4 ft. - 6 ft. tall!!
I love my Orientals and Asiatics, Audrey.
This is Montezuma. They are all so fragrance, it's worth the sinus problems they cause!
Got all my lilies from the co-op here.

Just a few that are blooming today.
Got a box ready just for your gingers Sis;)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

thanks sis, but i leave for florida thursday

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

All of them are pretty. I only have 2, and one is pink, the other is creamy white edged in deep pink.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i love the lilies sis.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Pretty Lilies... and how wonderful you know their names too... I don't know the name of almost any of my lilies... I just like their colors... I know I have some Stella D Oro... the little bitty yellow ones that re-bloom. And I have about 20-30 brand new fans that I have no clue what they're going to look like... but, color is color, and I do love daylilies, so I bought a mix of 20 (but they sent me more) from an ebayer. Maybe I'll know what I got next year.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Jaye, if you have plenty of ginger could some find their way south? Pictures are beautiful--oh hurry up and bloom something around here! OH, how could I forget, I think my pineapple lilies are going to bloom after having them 5 years--always green leaves no blooms. Finally gott really crowded in pot and then the magical things bloomed! Need to get a picture. Anyone growing these with any words of wisdom?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I made the trip to the new room. We are so chatty, we have to be carried off to another room! I have the coffee made, anyone have the shortcake for dessert?

I wish I had the space for more plants. I am squeezing to make room now...
Next year I will have more room, but just too late in the year to start digging and making a new bed.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sis, I'll keep them in water here, until next week.
Certainly Marion. I'll get them out to you.
If you love Day Lilies, you'll love these Asiatics, BJ. I was blown away by their massive blooms and the fragrance.
I never keep track of the beauties' names. But since DG, I do, just in case of trades and such.
Do have some Stella D'or, but this year, one caused a puzzle. It was blooming red and orange! Checked it out, seems there are 2 growing in it, seeds brought by birds from adjacent lilies I guess! But the original Stella has no buds!
This is my dual daylily, and I'm not pulling the guests out!

God, I'll give anything for coffee right now, Linda Kay.
Just finished putting brugs Jamaican Yellow and Madeline in the ground--still have more to go! Mosquitos don't need any invitations do they?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Take a sip Jaye, just came home with a cup of Starbucks!! Having to help me retirement. LOL I wish...........

Oh I would be so thrilled for some of the butterfly gingers! My friend in Gainesville keeps telling me she is going to give me some but 5 years later and no gingers....hummm think she forgot? Maybe--she's a busy lady. Thank goodness that type of busy is behind me now.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Jaye, I have two different kinds of Asiatics... and I do love them too... but I really get a lot more blooms from the daylilies than from the asiatics. They've already bloomed here, and are all dying back already... the daylilies just last longer. I remember you posting about that guest in your Stella D'or before... yea, I'd keep it there too.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Marion. The luxury of Starbucks coffee and a slice of good chocolate cake.
Actually I'm still chasing little fires! Got to learn to prioritize.........naaaaaaaah!!
Lol!! I thought in retirement meant just sitting back and doing nothing. But I think we have more free time when we work ... or goof off at work!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You got a fantastic memory BJ. I'm hopeless. That's why I couldn't lie..won't remember which extended truth I'll be saying!

Any of you sistas heard from Flamingo Kim? I just dmailed her. Been missing her postings.

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

Just got baclk from Michaels and Hopuston Plant and Garden...without Zeke! WoooHooo spent 1 1/2 hours in Michaels alone! What a treat! They had some great birdhouses that would make awesome fae houses at Michaels, even one that looked like a little outhouse! I had to have that one!! Of course I didn't find what I originally went for, but thats ok, still have Hobby Lobby to hit later in the week!
Oh Jaye if one of those gingers were to run away to Conroe, I would make sure it had a good home!
Oh and here's my best bloom of the day! It's my blood lily from the tropical co op. I'm going to have to get more of these.!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Jojo, you make me miss my blood lilies in Gainesville. I had a huge bunch but it is one of the things I didn't dig when I left. Guess I can start over here. Add that to the list: job #1299--plant blood lilies. That's done.

We are suppose to have more of the same liquid sunshine tomorrow so I might take a trip across town to Micheals. Wait, can't do that, I have to sand down the nail holes I patched and prime the molding in the dungeon. Humm maybe Wednesday.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Jojo, you mean this! We picked it up last week at Michael's, and I thought it would make a perfect porter for the gnome!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, you can always fix the dungeon later...it's been taking you this long, so what's an extra day!
Go on and enjoy yourself at Michael's.
Yes to the gingers Jojo..that's the least I can do for you :D

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thank you Jaye, just might do that. Oh btw, haven't seen one with a moon on it since I was a child growing up in south Florida. Oh the memories it brings back---well now that I think about it--forget them!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lolol!!!
Don't ya hate those communal bathrooms??

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

...oh I remember it well, the sear catalog, the almost solid wooden floors, the slight tilt to the --gone on enough. You get the picture.

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL that's it Jaye! I couldn't pass it up!! If my gnomes are going to have a still, they will most definately need an outhouse!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

In some parts of South East Asia, Marion, there are no catalogs. Have to 'hose' ourselves down.
When we see men or women in sarongs..you know where they're going to..either the bath house or the s*** house. You better relieve yourselves first before visiting anyone!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL!!!! Well there was also moss.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Jojo!!! You can't let your gnome be doing anything illegal..think of Zman!

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL well I'm thinking that gnome moonshine is more like a magical fertilizer and elixir for injured animals. Thats the story anyway ;~)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I remember going down to Johore, Malaysia and I 'held' it for a few days there, cause we have to dig our own s*** holes!!!!
Talk about primitive. But that was 40 years ago!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Jojo, I got to give you credit for creativity!!!!!
Lololol!!! Magical elixir...:P Just don't let Audrey read this!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sounds like a plan to me Jojo. Go for it! Just hide it, Audrey can't find it then.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Marion, have you come up with any ideas on how to make our own lady bugs?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes, I do/did have instructions for making them. The trick is to find them in all my craft things. It did start with medium styrofoam balls cut in half, then coated with drywall mix.
I don't remember how after that--know you paint them but forgot what was used to seal them. It been ages since I did them.
