Stop and visit, talk all you want. pt 23 I think

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh Celia, thank you so much for those sweet, kind words ♥

Having said that..lol..TiVo has lost a very good and loyal customer today. Please, let's pause a moment for the death of that customers loyalty. That's long enough. Sheesh. Those people kill me. They sent me the new remote and it came today. I put in some new batteries, they didn't even bother to send me the batteries, turned on the t.v. with the t.v. remote, changed the input back to TiVo and by golly it worked. I entered in the number so it would work the t.v. and shut it off. Turned it back on later in the afternoon, and it worked intermittently and then just stopped working altogether. Grabbed the phone and called. First heard that their system is down. He can't do much of anything, but he wanted to know what the problem was anyway. I tell him. He puts me on hold and calls his supervisor. She's at lunch, but of course, and will call me back in an hour. She did call back about 4pm. I have to PAY the renewal fee, which is about 50 bucks. This brand new HD dual tuner TiVo is only 6 months old. John had told me to go ahead and just buy a new box, but they won't transfer my lifetime service agreement over to a new box. They simply don't care. So I told her that TiVo lost a very good customer today. If they won't fix the problem at their expense when they sent me a bad box to begin with, then when this refurbished box croaks, that's it for a TiVo in this household. Now mind you, this company is struggling to stay afloat, so you'd think they'd care how a customer feels. And a good customer at that. But they don't. Something is seriously messed up with their thinking and I told her so. Add into that, we lose everything that's on there. We haven't seen the season finale of Lost yet, I guess we won't now. We had a ton of stuff taped on there and now it's gone for good. Oh! And on a refurbished box? That's wonderful, ain't it? Just what I always wanted. To replace a new box with one that's already been fixed. Supposedly fixed. They've had the HD boxes out for how long? And somebody need already needed theirs replaced because it didn't worked, so they've "fixed" it to send to me? Wunnerful. Juz wunnerful.

So if anyone is thinking of buying a TiVo? DON'T!! I'm not the only one having a problem with the box too. They have a forum on their website and I was reading on it. Lots of people are having trouble with their new HD boxes and the TiVo tech tells them it's the remote. It's not. It's the box. I think I'll go sign up over there at the forum and make a post. They even had the gall today to ask me to take their survey! You betcha I did. Gave them all 1's too. I would of given them 0's if allowed, but it was 1 for not likely and 5 for most definitely.

Sad thing is I love my TiVo. I call it the smart box. My dad has the Direct HD dual tuner. It's not smart. My brother has the dual tuner from the cable company. It's pretty dumb. What I mean by that, is that TiVo knows when a program time or day has been changed. Neither my dads or my brothers know. So they miss the show they wanted to see. Right now it's not too smart though☺ It's really quite dumb.

So anyway☺☺☺ Cubs are on and they're winning! WOOHOO!! What a good game last night too!

I finished up the last 2 metal (wrought iron?) outdoor chairs today. They're now all spray painted black. It looks so much better, being black. And my umbrella, with the pumpkin color in there, looks really good. Now to remove the white stain off the deck flooring and power wash the whole thing, paint the railings that are just like the front porch in the same colors, but stain the floor. I'd love to cover the whole thing and make the floor a tongue and groove floor, but that wouldn't be original to the house and wouldn't look right either. In my eyes anyway. Perhaps if it had been a huge covered back porch and I put it back, that'd be different. But it wasn't, so it won't..lol. Then we need to put up the horizontal lattice back there too. First, before we put up the lattice, we need to get more rock and finish up under there. Too hot for that right now though. I can strip it, but I think I'll probably wait for cooler weather to do the rest. Or maybe do the rock this year and do the deck (paint and stain) next spring. I want the stripping done yesterday..lol.

Did I tell you all that my brothers wife is causing all kinds of drama? She is. She's not nice. Thinking about it, I decided to call him. I just did. We were talking and all of sudden I can hear her screaming in the background. Then my brother tells that she just came home with a bunch of groceries and he has to carry them in. And his head hurts. Does she care? Nope. I told my sister the other day we need to take him to hospital and have him tested for poisoning. Seriously. I would not put it past his wife. sigh

Welll, I know Terry is no doubt glued to the game!! Cubs vs. Milwaukee!

gosh, don't know about Crissy.

What are you upta?

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm not sticky yet! I am hollering at Teddy though. Gosh darn it anyway.

(Zone 7a)

Oh, boy, Terry, am I ever glad we got a DVR instead if TiVo. (Which is Spanish for TV, BTW.) Sounds like the problems we used to have with cable. On top of the high rates they charge.

I'm going to D-mail Crissy. I'm really worried now.

I ended up calling TiVo again last night. I was on here, so I switched to another tab and looked up how much a brand spanking new TiVo HD dual tuner DVR was. It's less than what I'm being charged for the refurbished one. So I called. Yesterday early afternoon, they were having "technical difficulties" and couldn't access the internet, and all my info. Last night when I called, they STILL were unable to get on-line! The guy had a foreign accent and I thought for sure I was talking to somebody in India and that always annoys me. I'm sorry, it just does. I need someone I can understand and who understands me. This guy didn't understand me, he kept repeating something and I kept repeating myself. All I wanted to know was if I had to keep dialing the number and hope that I get somebody in another state. The foreign guy ended up being in CO. When I've called for tech support for the internet, it seems I'm forever getting somebody in India and I don't understand them, they don't understand me. I'm already frustrated, I don't need that also. Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm not bigoted, I don't care where they live, what color skin they have, how they dress, etc. etc. Have you seen some of the kids nowadays? sheesh. I could talk all day to the guy my sister dated that was from Israel, but that's in person. On the phone, I didn't understand what he was saying. So anyway, I FINALLY get somebody in the center down in southern IN. She had a southern accent, but hey, I used to live in the south and I became pretty used to how they pronounce words. She was SO NICE! Not that she could do anything, but just the kindness and the understanding that she showed, was so much appreciated by me. When I told her that my husband and I hadn't seen the last 2 hour episode of Lost and it's on that DVR, she almost cried too. She understood. That's what I always need. Not that they can do what I want, which really they should because the customer is supposed to be right that's the way our business has and will always be ran. I pointed her to their forum, so she could read for herself on the problems people are having with this new box. So I don't know. I know it's been shipped already. But it says ground. Isn't that thru the postal service? Why wouldn't they send it UPS like the new boxes? I'm still annoyed, but she really helped just by being so understanding. Celia, I know you understand everything I'm saying.

So, TiVo means TV in Spanish? I did not know that! I didn't take Spanish, I took French. I remember one phrase, wasn't taught to us by a teacher, but by a second year student. Then a song came out. You know which one I'm talking about? I can do parts of the alphabet, never did understand the numbers, with exception to about 10. Not sure if I could do it now though.

Celia, since I'm in this little bitty snip of a town, cable has never been a problem here. Our rates are cheaper than my girlfriends pays. She lives up closer to Chicago and everything is high priced up there, cable company is the same now though. I've seen the charges for Direct TV or for Dish TV and I can't say I'm too thrilled with that. Add into that, my sister has Dish and it won't work when it rains, when it blows, when it snows. My dads won't work when it snows, he has Direct. They've all been moved around and it helps nothing. Sometimes it makes it worse. So I'll stick to cable.

I hope Crissy comes back! Did you d-mail her? I know it takes about 3 days of it sitting there before a notice is e-mailed to your e-mail addy.

Well, hubby is waiting on me for something☺

(Zone 7a)

Yes, Terry, I know exactly what you're saying! LOL I took French, too. I remember a few phrases. "Je m'appelle Celia." I d-mailed Crissy but haven't heard anything, yet.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Je suis enchantee de faire votre connaissance!!

Gosh, I sure hope she's alright.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Well, I'm finally back! Been without a house phone for 7 days and that means no internet since I have dial-up. It finally got fixed today so I am back and hopefully Dolly doesn't mess it all up again.

What have you missed while I was gone? A broken water line, clogged septic line which backed into the basement, and air in the water lines yesterday. No idea why there was air in the lines but it left us without water for several hours.

It has been very eventful and exhausting here. And it's not gonna slow down for awhile either. We have a local event this weekend and the next 2 weekends is our Butterfly Festival at work. Busy, busy. Plus picking tomatoes everyday.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

pepper, when they run the fire hydrants for whatever the reason is that they do that once a month, there's always air in the water line. It sputs and sputters and finally the air is all gone.

We didn't get near the rain or the severity that they called for last night. We were visiting Phyllis at the nursing home when they broke into the t.v. It's the fire department that makes important announces, knocks the t.v. off to a black screen, sirens are going thru your t.v. and then one of the guys makes an announcement. Last night, it was a severe thunderstorm warning with hail, severe lightening, and 1" of rainfall. I think we got about 2 tenths of rain, a little bit of lightening and no hail. But that's alright, we're still cleaning up the town from that last storm. The Governor of IL proclaimed this county, and a couple others, disaster areas. Fun fun!

I received the refurbished TiVo last night and it didn't work right from the very beginning. It's working now, but for how long is anyones guess.

Welcome back Pepper! Good to see your safe.

No word on Crissy?? Geesh, she is not listed in addy exchange so can't look her up.
I am really worried now.

Crissy, Just know We are praying. Thinking of you to be feeling better and anxious to hear whats happened to you. Sending hugs.

Everyone have a good day.

Good morning, girls. I was just over on another forum looking for Crissy and from what I read, it looks like she might really be sick. Her symptoms looked like appendisitis. I'm hoping all is well with her and she comes back soon. I miss her and I know you all do, too.

Crissy, thinking of you, Hon, and wishing at you REAL HARD (fingers crossed and eyes shut thight) that things are okay. We're with you all the way!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Hey! Where'd everybody go? No one has posted since yesterday?

I also hope Crissy is seeking whatever relief it is that she needs and comes back real soon!

Hey Judy!!! Did you watch the Cubs sweep the Brewers?? What a fantastic series!

I don't know a whole lot. I'm annoyed though. Krista and I had dentist appointments yesterday for teeth cleaning. I didn't know it would offend this new gal cleaning my teeth to inquire my old gal is. Jeepers. She was snippy and bitey the hold time. She didn't even finish her job. It would appear that no one in that office is very concerned about my teeth and the health of my gums. I ask, but have always gotten a positive response, until yesterday. When we came back, later in the afternoon, I stopped at my old dentists office. He has now retired, but there is a new guy in there and they all my records from the beginning of my time. That dentist had taken over for the other dentist who had retired back when I was about 6. When we moved back, they didn't accept our insurance, so we had to find somebody who did. Hence up driving over 35 miles (one way) to see these people. I want my old dentist, but that won't happen, so as long as this new guy is as on top of things as my old dentist is, then I'll be happy. You know, all these have been building and building. Phyllis and the treatment I get from her "kids", the people who care for my disabled BIL not wanting to discuss his medical conditions with me at all when I am his medical power of attorney, my dads illness, and on and on it goes. I thought I was dealing with it all, but I guess I really haven't been. I dissolved into tears, once again, in the dentist office. I think I really scared them! I'm to attached to things, to people. I don't know how to be anything but myself, so I guess it will continue☺

I had another highlight of my day today visiting with Phyl. Her 2nd cousins husband called (got that? LOL) When I answered, I thought maybe he thought it was Phyl, so I just simply said "OH AL!! How are you??" You know what that sweet man said to me? He said "it's the beautiful sweet angel that I'm talking to!" Now how could a girls heart not melt? Phyllis (and her "kids") are always telling me how much this couple loves me. Phyl told me again, when I hung up. Her cousins really are wonderful people. I spoke to his wife too, which would be Phyl's second cousin. She's so happy that I'm back and once again taking care of Phyllis and keeping watch. I guess that always surprises me, because they've known Phyllis longer than I have and how could I not keep watch over her? I am, and will continue to be, a very loud advocate for anyone who needs help. Oh and Phyllis sat up in her wheelchair for 6 HOURS today! Woohoo! The longest time yet! And her aide...lol...came in and scared the bejeemas out of me! He's a sweetheart. He was working there when my grandma was there. He's been there forever it seems. He and his wife are one great team. And now their daughter works there also.

So that's all I know. Oh, I also know that it's just a waste of time, time I can never get back, to go out to Wal-Mart. sheesh. Off to Target we go tomorrow.

Have a great night, what's left of it!

Which reminds me Celia. as I mentioned above, I am the power of attorney for my BIL. Is it legal for this organization to not let me know when he's on his way to the hospital? The lawyer told me it is their responsibility. Opinion or knowledge on this?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Been around but am having monitor problems so til that gets replaced I'm not posting much.

Not much going on anyways. Just gardening and working. And riding.

(Zone 7a)

Gee, we missed you, Pep. Wish I could be there riding with you. That's funny what you said, JUST gardening. Isn't that why we all came together? ☺LOL

Terry, I'm so sorry about everything coming to ahead. I was that way in a Walmart not too long ago. Broke down because they didn't have what I wanted. Dad died, mom died, stuff at work and home...I thought I was handling everything okay and then....Niagara Falls.

I think your attorney would be right. They SHOULD call you and call you FIRST. Just remember this...Phyllis loves you. She will always love you, no matter what those other yahoos say or do, not say and not do. Phyllis loves you.

Well, today I JUST put down mulch. LOL. Too hot to do anything else. Tomorrow my pots get watered. Another day or two and plants in the ground get watered. Then it will rain again. Yipeeeeee!!!!

I need to take new pictures soon. I have some tropicals that I planted that are looking good. My Blue potato bush is going wild but my blue hib is just basically sitting there. Must be a slow grower.

Speaking of tropicals, my grandma has a potato bush also and she thinks she can put it in the ground this fall and leave it there for the winter. She will mulch it heavily. The problem is it's only hardy to zone 10. NO WAY can we push zones like that. I told her to build a small greenhouse around it otherwise bring it in cause there is no way it will live. She wants to put in on the south side of the house where it gets lots of sun and since it's next to the house it would get some heat too. I just can't see it living here. lol.

I just checked hardiness on it and it's rated zone 9. Can overwinter like dahilas in a garage. www.davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/60980/

(Zone 7a)

The only way she will get the them stay is to mulch them HEAVILY! Like 4 feet deep! LOL Seriously, though, good luck to her.

That's very pretty. I need THOSE now, too! LOL Thanks...

As to your question, it depends on how cold your garage gets. I had some stuff our garage killed that were supposed to be okay. It got to around 30º in there.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

She doesn't have a garage so I will try to talk her into putting it in the basement. Cool and dark down there but not too cool. I am gonna give her mine to overwinter there too since I have no room for those here.

Here is the Blue Hib. www.davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/31420/

My hib is small and apparently doesn't transplant easily most times but so far mine is doing good. No shock that I can tell.

(Zone 7a)

A very good idea.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Good morning girls!

Yes Celia, Phyllis loves me like no other woman, except my (maternal) grandma. I never disappoint, if I do something dumb, she's not a person to judge, she simply loves me (us) unconditionally. Just like grandma. I don't have that with my own parents! I could write a book on how I've disappointed my parents, embarrassed, disgraced, and on and on it goes. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean I don't love my parents, sometimes I just don't like them much. It's confusing to me. I am so not a people pleasing person, but I try to always help and do the right thing. Phyllis and grandma always thought I did a wonderful job, but my parents? I fail miserably. Difference in strictness? I don't know.

Yesterday we ran around looking for a few items. It's getting really old. We drove to a town 20 miles away that has a mall and more to offer than this town does. Could we find what we wanted there? Nope. Waste of time. Came home and watched the Cubs game. What a waste that was. Yesterday was one of those days where you wish you could do it over again or at least get those 8 hrs. of your life back! LOL

You know what's really killing me? We started looking for some of these items on Aug1st. Yesterday was the second. You know what we kept hearing? It's the end of the season. End of the season? Have you people been outside? Looked at a calender? It's time to get Halloween stuff out, instead of finishing up our summers! Before you know it, they're going to have Christmas trees and decorations out. Christmas in July, o.k. I get that. But that isn't what's going on.

The No-Kill shelter here in town is having an auction. Somebody made up these large (bigger than life, but not huge) dogs, cats and I think I saw a lamb. They're going to auction them off to raise money. I really need to get up to the bank and take a picture of the cat I would give anything for. Well, except a ton a money..lol. I call it a him and I call him, Sparkles. He's absolutely gorgeous. What I'd actually do with him is anyones guess, but man is he beautiful.

Went to see Phyllis last night. Sat down and she says to me "boy was I an idiot today!". Huh? So I said, "Phyllis, you're never an idiot" and she replies back "you don't know what I did!". Then she proceeded to tell me. Some woman from the office came in when Phyl was in therapy and Phyl's 100 or 90 days (Medicare), whichever it is, is almost up. So they would like to move her to another wing. In that other wing, she might have the same nurses, but it's the aides, more specifically this married couple, that do so much. She wouldn't have them anymore. They don't work on the other side, ever. So Phyllis starts telling this woman how she doesn't want to be moved, how much this couple means to her, she likes her room etc. Then she started crying. She said she hadn't had her "panic" pill yet. I assured her she wasn't an idiot! She didn't want to lose that couple or the room she's become accustomed to. As she said, what difference would it make if Medicare was paying for that room, or she was paying for that room!!?? When I left, I was sure to find this couple and I told them what had happened that day. And why Phyl didn't want to move. I think it's important that they know how much they're appreciated. Phyllis has told them and I've told them, but our words are just that. Merely words. Yesterday, it was actually Phyllis' actions and you know the old saying actions speak louder than words. I want them to know, I told them all the time way back when my grandma was in there. My grandma was in there for both hip replacements, then when she suffered a stroke a few yrs. later. Hips were in the early 90's and the stroke was in the latter part of the 90's. They were so kind with my grandma and they show that same kindness with Phyl. They both told me last night that she is a pleasure to work with. Not all of them are, they said, but Phyllis really is. Phyllis doesn't like to complain, unless it's really necessary and sometimes not even then. But it wouldn't be because of this couple, it's because of what a nurse does or what her children do.

Speaking of her children. She had me call her eldest son to find out if his daughter has had her baby. She was due the second week of July, but no one has called her. So I called. Her son finally called me back and yes, his daughter had a son. He wasn't sure on weight or the name (???), didn't even know the date, but I got what I could from him and then I told Phyllis later that day when I went. Then yesterday, the granddaughter finally called her! I'm going to throw a jeesh into that☺

We need to run over to Phyllis house and find more clothes for her. Talk to you all later!

(Zone 7a)

Terry, I hope you do get Sparkles. LOL Kitties are so worth it. I need to see a pics, so hurry it up, girl!

Phyllis knows how special your are, indeed! And I know what you mean about wanting your day back! LOL I so want the last three days back. Sitting at home doing nothing is not very healthy or helpful. Sore backs are usually a given around here but this was ridiculous!!! ROTF (carefully)

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Go get the kitty Terry!! Or better yet we have 10 brand new ones at work that are gonna need new homes. LOLOL

Well, I went and got a new monitor today and a new graphics card. I am LOVING the new monitor!!! It is a Hp w1907 flat screen. 19" It is also a wide screen. I figured if I was gonna get a widescreen then I would get a bigger one so that I wouldn't have to scroll so much. But the colors are so much brighter on here than on my old one and I don't have to lean in closer to look at something. In fact I need to back up a bit sometimes or wear sunglasses!! LOL

Oh, the card hasn't been installed yet but that' because it looks like the mother board and I'm not touching that!! LOL. Waaaay outta my league!

(Zone 7a)

Yeah! I love getting new stuff. Sounds awesome. When we got ours, we decided to go all the way and get the 19". I hate squinting. When we were in OR, we went to mail some things home from a little mail shop. You know the kind that do UPS, Fed Ex and regular USPS. The guy there had a screen, I swear, was 3' across! I kid you not! That thing was HUGE! I have no idea where he got it and we were too stunned to ask until we were gone.

PS Crissy has been heard from! Yea! She's okay. I'll let her tell the story.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

pep, I have the wide screen too. Maybe it's because you're so darn young, that people, words, things, objects, don't look all stretched and squatty. That's my guess anyway LOL The 19" looks huge to be sitting on this antique desk, so I went with the 17". You know those 2" really do make a difference.

As for a REAL kittie? Sorry girls, can't do that. Unless you want me to live outdoors? I can't be in a house with a cat. Most cats, not all. I don't know my breeds of cats, but I've only met 2 that I can be around for any length of time. Not forever, just takes awhile for the eyes to itch or swell shut, the nose to start running, me not being able to breathe. That's not really much fun and then I think about living outside, and I think of all the pollen that does the same, and I guess I'll stay in the house, with my air on. I do thank you though!

Celia, I forgot to go get a picture yesterday. They bring it in (it's on a base with wheels), and so it's not out on Sundays. You also know bank hours? Close at 3, except on Sat. then it's noon? Yep, they are around here anyway. Except the bank we have our checking account at. It also closes at noon on Thurs. Oh and I tried begging my daddy to buy the cat for me, please please please? hmph. My mom said she thought that particular cat would go for over a thousand dollars. And I think it will too. It's the only one that is so darn cool. The others look like they were painted by---well, me. I would think I paint better than that, but that would give you a good analogy. I will take my camera out today and see if I can find one that wasn't brought it and show the difference.

One kittie (I think it was a kittie), was stolen from the front of Festival 56's office. Reward of $500. Who would steal one that's being auctioned off for charity? Since they're on wheels, anyone could have. Right on Main St. Heck, some kid could of wheeled it anywhere.

Celia, I also forgot the other day, and I'm sorry I simply forgot to add it in, that I'm not exactly glad I'm not alone knowing that tears start for others also, but then again, it does help. I hope you find your tears, your Niagara Falls, a good release, like I do. They do come at sometimes the worst possible moment, but I never regret that I cry as much as I do. I can usually hold it together until the car or when I'm home, but sometimes, it doesn't happen. I panic people when I break down like I do, and for that I'm also sorry. My only wish is that when the tears stop, they wouldn't continue on for days. It's not that I'm dwelling on any given subject either. It pops into my head and there I go again. It's hard to explain.

I found a light switch cover (matches from some I'd removed from another room and brought with me) for the old bathroom at our other house, did I tell you about that? If not, and you'd like to know, just ask me. Anyway, we took that over yesterday because Phyllis wanted me to find more clothes for her. I'm glad the guy is removing the ribbon grass, I didn't plant it. He's removing my variegated dogwood also. The last guy didn't prune it correctly, so it's not in the best of condition. I could fix it if he'd let me, but I don't think he will. He says "things are too big and there's nothing for him to do". Then he tells us how his knees hurt and his back hurts, sooooo???? He's also laying down landscape fabric under my crabapple. Then a layer of mulch. sigh. I'll explain why I don't like that also, if anyone wants to know. I know I know, it's not my yard, but in my heart, it'll always be "mine".

My throat hurts. Badly. I know it's my allergies flaring up over something, but what, I don't know. I've popped Fexofenadine (generic Allegra), but they aren't working.

I'm glad Crissy is o.k.! I wish she'd come back on and tell us what happened.

(Zone 7a)

Terry, she'll be a little while, I think. She's recovering but she'll be just fine.

Terry, I was just saying I know how you feel. Tears come when tears come. There's no need to explain or apologize. ☺☺☺

I was watching Amazing Videos the other day and they had a "lady" stealing art from the walls of a hospital! She not only took one but two!!! These were things for sale, as well. Our hospitals do that, too.

Two of my DBs are coming over to watch movies today. Woo hoo! Love having the boys over.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Yes Celia, tears come when they do, but jeepers. Will they stop already?☺

What did you all watch? Anything good? Krista rented a few yesterday. We watched something like 'Boy/Girl' can't remember the whole title. It was pretty funny.

I'm a waiting on Crissy☺

They were calling for a high of 96º tomorrow. Now it's down to 93º, but we have a heat advisory out from noon till 7pm tomorrow. Phyllis had panicked when she saw 96º and calmed down when the temp went down throughout the week . Now I don't know what she's going to do. Her room sure was hot when we got back from running an errand for her tonight. Panic in her eyes. I was able to get her room cooled back down and her panic "sort of" went away. The nurse wouldn't give her her Xanax. New nurse. sigh.

I'm off. Hopefully I'll be on tomorrow at some point. I might be spending the morning/day/night at the nursing home though, I never know. Nobody showed up this weekend, but me of course. another sigh

(Zone 7a)

She may be a few days. She called me yesterday and said she had to have her appendix taken out. I feel bad...I haven't called her back. Been too busy. I'll call her again in the morning.

We ended up watching Batman Begins. Doug hadn't seen it and we enjoy that one. Plus we got to show off the new TV.

And that's usually how it is, isn't it? You and only you?

Yep, that's how it always is. There for awhile, one day on a weekend, her youngest son would show up, but otherwise? Nobody. Don't call, don't visit, don't nothing. Except Al and his wife, her 2nd cousins. They call about 2x's a week.

I'm glad you had a good time with your brothers. Now if it was my brother, he'd want to watch the same movie and I'd be complaining to high heaven. I've never liked Batman. Or Superman. Or SpiderMan, etc. etc. Just never dug 'em and always was "forced" (LOL) to have to watch them on t.v. Soooo....ROFL You know, forced me in the way our grandparents forced us to watch Lawrence Welk.

My Auntie Sue (my aunt that was younger than me) had her appendix taken out when she was a young teen. I remember visiting her in the hospital and it hurt me to watch her! Ouch. I feel for Crissy. I remember especially about laughing. DON'T!! Or, have a pillow that you put over the stitches and even then Sue said it hurt. Just not as much.

It looks like it's going to rain. Humidity isn't out as bad as initially thought by me. At least not yet. I haven't turned on The Weather Channel to see if we still have that heat advisory.

(Zone 7a)

I had mine out when I was 14. Everyone felt soooooo sorry for me! Oh...the drama in our house then. 14 and the DRAMA QUEEN!!! LOL Only girl, you see. All my friends were trying to do EVERYTHING for me because I HAVE STITCHES! I CAN'T LIFT THAT! THE DR. SAID...I CAN'T DO THAT!!! THE DR. SAID...

Anyway...Crissy, you come back. We miss you here. I'll call you so you don't have to sit up.

Did I show you guys my "new" table? My sister found it for me. It's an old---and my brain went blank. I can't think for the life of me what you call the top of the table and the sides that fold down. It's a metal of some sort. My mind is totally blank!! Jeepers. I've been looking for this table for years now and she goes to auctions and antique malls all the time and she found it for a steal for me. Goodness gracious these things are usually well over a hundred $ in poor condition. This one is in excellent condition and the legs are black, making it even better. Anyway, here's a picture of the table who's top is know unknown to me..lol.

(here's praying I got the right photo)

It looks like it's enameled. Is it? It's very nice. I like the drawer on the side. Is there one on the other side?

Drop Leaf!!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

JEEPERS!! Yes, it's Enameled! AND yes, it's a drop leaf. Jeepers. If you hadn't said enameled, I'm not sure when it finally would of dawned on me! There's a drawer on one side, not on the other. Most of the ones I've seen with a drawer, if they have one, only have the one. And most of them are in such disrepair, you wouldn't be able to use it. I've seen many many many drop leafs. And they no longer work. All the parts on this work and are in wonderful condition! Like it came straight from grandmas house to here. All that I've seen that the sides slide out from under, don't work any longer. A lot of them have been rusted, like they've been stored for years and years. Mine is really in great condition. It's been used and it appears to have been used with love♥ That always makes me smile to think about some woman, long ago, using that table and kneading her bread, rolling out the crust for her famous pies, rolling out the dough for her gingerbread men, so on and so forth☺ Active imagination..LOL

(Zone 7a)

They probably did just that, Terry. I can see it, too! Same imagination...

Where'd you all go??

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hello! I'm back!! Finally!! I'm going to catch up on what I've missed. I'll be here but reading....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes, I had an appendectomy, and it is no fun. Apparently my appendix was leaking and had made a mess of everything. A 1/2 hour surgery turned into a 1 1/2 hour surgery trying to get it out, then I had an infection I just finished taking antibiotics for last night. Now the only think the dr is slightly worried about is if there is any puss left it could form an abscess in my abdominal cavity, if it does they will have to surgically drain it, according to the internet that happens to 20% of the people who have had a leaking/bursting appendix. Today is the first day I feel almost like a human, and last night I got a full nights sleep, in bed! My next dr appt is Monday at 2:30pm, hopefully I'm a lot more well than I am now and he releases me to drive, work, and eat! I am so hungry for real food I can't stand it, and Dave's going to fix steak tonight, which I probably shouldn't eat either. The dr said "keep it light" and steak is far from light.

I am around. lol. Just hopping everywhere. I won't be on tomorrow though due to the concert.

Crissy, don't overdo it and get to feeling 100% quickly. :~)

Terry, I thought of you today when looking at our prairie around the Chapel at work. It has more flowers blooming this year than I have ever seen. If I had had my camera I would have taken pics.

(Zone 7a)

Crissy, so glad you see you back! We've missed you!

Pepper, prairies are amazing places, aren't they? So much going on and in HUGE numbers.

Terry, how's Phyllis doing? Haven't heard from you today.

We got a call from the people who did mom's headstone and told us it was in place. I took a pic and will show it if you ask. Some people, I know, would not want to, so I won't.

I had dinner with some of the girls from the old place where I worked. It was fun to see them again. We ate at Chili's. Mmm...

I heard a noise outside this morning and thought I had a hummer at the feeder but when I raised the camera, this is what I saw.

It's good to be back! My goodness! My stomach burns a little this morning for some reason. hhmmmmmmm too much computer maybe?

I guess he wanted some food too! I've been thinking about getting a hummingbird feeder, there are several different varieties of hummingbirds around here, and there's a nest right across the street. But then again I'd rather grow the flowers, so I'm undecided.

I took some pics yesterday when I was walking around the house. Reminded me of what I've been missing!
