Stop and visit, talk all you want. pt 23 I think

(Zone 7a)

We've found some pretty cool places on backroads. Let us know what you see.

Gonna go to work early today. I'd rather stick around and work outside. I have SO much that needs to be done and no time.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Me too! I'd rather be dead heading my coreopsis than trying to find where someone screwed up on their bank statement, makes me tired, especially when I can't find it ggrrrrrrr

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Celia!!! It's working!! Terry!!! Whirlpool just called me and apologized for all of my trouble I am having with this refrigerator and they want to offer an additional 6 months warranty beyond the one year at no charge to me! I said, "I'll take it!" I haven't heard from the repair guy, if he doesn't call me today I'll call him this evening.

(Zone 7a)

Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you could do it. You just have to be persistant.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

having some patience helps, but I don't seem to have any of those.

(Zone 7a)

That's how stuff gets done. Not my spell-breaker. LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh I think it was your spell breaker too :-)

(Zone 7a)

Okay, I'll take SOME of the credit but not all.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ok, good. Wow!! Those are gorgeous! What kind of rose is it?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

My truck is back home tonite!! Damage was bad but not bad enough to replace. I got it in just in time. Few hundred out instead of a few thousand. Yeah!!!

Oh what looks like a black catipillar and eats coneflowers? They are all over mine. Not real big but very noticeable.

(Zone 7a)

Slugs in the dark? I don't know. Can we see a pic? I just pulled some of mine 'cuz they had a virus or something that kept the petals from growing.

Crissy, I'm not sure what kind of roses they are. They were here when we moved in. A rambler of some kind. Grow like mad, too. I have to cut them back but they only bloom the once.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh too bad they don't bloom more, they sure are pretty.

Well, I went to the dr. for my knee today and I guess that I have slightly torn cartilege. He isn't sure without an MRI, but put me on Alieve and rest, 2 pills of Alieve twice a day, ice at night for 20 minutes, and rest. If it's still bothering me in a 2 to 3 weeks to call him back and he'll schedule the MRI. If the cartilege is torn they have to do minor surgery on it. ggggrrrrrrr He had the same surgery done last week and he's walking fine, no pain or anything.

Are your cats this big?

Thumbnail by crissyr
(Zone 7a)

LOL No, not that big. Looks like you have caterpilars. Don't know what kind. Post them on the Butterfly and Moth ID.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I did a long time ago, they turned into this:

Thumbnail by crissyr
(Zone 7a)

That is WAY cool! It's a moth but what kind?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It's a Leopard Moth. Who would think that the big fuzzy black cat would turn into something white? What's really cool is it's body is blue!

(Zone 7a)

Wow. That's awesome.

It's really hot. I can't decide if I want to read outside or nap or play a game.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL I wish I had your delima LOL I'm at work. I messed my knee up about a month ago and it stopped hurting a few minutes after I injured it, then I completely forgot about it, until last week I was jogging at Curves, that same pain came back and had been back for a week, so I made a dr. appt for this morning, he isn't sure without an MRI, but he's pretty positive I tore the cartilage under the ball of my joint. He put me on Aleve, 2 pills twice a day plus rest, and told me if it doesn't feel much better in a week or so to call him back and he'll schedule the MRI. ggggrrrrrr I'm too young for knee problems Wwaaaaaaa He did say that I have a lot of cartilage to play with, more than normal for someone my age, so that's good!

(Zone 7a)

Ouch! I have problems, too. Only 47 but feel 97 sometimes. I walk with a limp (not always), my back hurts ALL the time, and don't even get me started on my feet! LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I really need to get my knees checked out. Will do that probably this fall when I don't have so many work obligations.

My cat was a Silvery Checkerspot. Our Hort director told me what they were. He has them too. He says they will just demolish the plants.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ya know, cats are really neat, they come in so many sizes and shapes, and make really pretty butterflies and moths, but they eat entirely too much!

I think the steroids are getting to my cat. She's acting weird again, but she may be just hyper. I do need to clean her box before I go to bed, which means I need to get on the floor. Bum!

My toad Harry came out to visit me today, he's so cool (at least I hope it's a boy LOL) Dave went out on the front porch and he was sitting in one of his flip-flops. So we shooed him away and he went under my chair. Then Tiga wanted out, he went unnoticed until we came inside and left her out, I was watching her, it was hilarious. She was about 3 feet from him looking like, "What in the world is that!!?????" So I went out and picked him up before she decided he was food and he sat on my hand just below my 4 fingers, I guess the "ball" of the hand, with one front foot on my ring finger and the other on my index finger just looking around, no big deal. I set him down in the flowerbed and he sat there and ate for 3 hours that I know of, I'll go see if he's still there...Nope, he's gone somewhere else. He's small and way cool.

Hello all. gosh, so busy, I don't know if I'm coming or going!

pep, those are butterflies. The plants will be fine, they're doing what they're supposed to do. Leave them be, please?

When you guys were talking about backroads, I thought you meant backroads backroads, like county roads? I think you're talking about highways. Around here, you get lots of places by taking highways. Rural, gotta love it! I love, however, taking county roads. Never busy, never any cops around *wink wink*. Course it was a backroad that that semi driver backed across the road in front of us and caused us to land in the ditch. :Wind farms going up, so lots of semi's on those roads.

Took Jim shoppping, spent tons of money ;) I'm on my daughters laptop, and it won't do a smiley face! Drats. Anyway, didn't get home till after 11pm. Oh, and I had gotten Jim new curtains and bedding and he insisted on me putting up the curtains and putting the bed together on Sun. Then a staff person comes in and asks me if I can clean out his closet. grrr----sooo I start cleaning his closet. Mon, I was all set to go over to BIL's for a steak supper, and the tree guy called. He was on his way to the town where Phyllis lives to cut her tree down! Sooo--off I go over there. Was a tad late for supper, but I was leaving for his house before 4pm, so I wasn't that late for supper. It was good. And I cleaned more of Jim's room. What a pack rat! Good grief, I found papers he didn't need from early 2000. I'm still not done. I've also been spray painting the vents from the dining room a flat black. For some reason they were brown and looked stupid. They should of been black. They are now!! I also spray painted the stand for the umbrella. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get started on 2 of the chairs. Yesterday we went to Phyllis' house and cut down all the trees growing right at the foundation of her house. Sprayed all those with Tardon, they won't re-grown and be dead. Tomorrow, my dad is bugging me to plant this clump of prairie dropseed in his ravine. I don't know why he couldn't do it today. I killed his precious ribbon grass he put in there, so I guess he feels that since I killed the other off, I can plant these. Who knows. Who plants a grass that so obnoxious out in the woods anyway? Some weeds are growing in a bed I had planted, and he doesn't know a plant from a weed. sigh. And we also need to get over to Phyllis' again to pressure wash her front and back decks. They also mold or mildew growing on them, so we're going to need to bleach them and scrub like the devil. Man, I was so ticked when we were there yesterday. Crap is laying up against the foundation in the backyard. Do any of her kids EVER clean anything up around there? Heck no!! Her house was built in '83. It has all the same flooring, except her and Stacy's bedrooms. Wallpaper that MY brother put up when he was going to buy the house, but his lawyer didn't take care of business like he should of, so the loan didn't go thru and expired. That wallpaper is coming down off the walls. Looks awful. Her hot water heater broke I don't know how long ago, and nobody bothered to clean any of that up. I'm sure there's mold growing under it and in the walls. Doors are all busted, by those same "children". Just a big old mess and it makes me sick to look at.

I had a really good talk with yesterday after her cousin's husband called. She wasn't breathing very good, so asked me to answer and to talk. I haven't talked to or seen he or his wife in forever. What a nice guy. Helps that he always calls me beautiful too. LOL Anyway, he said that Phyllis told him that she was just elated that I came everyday to see her. I told him I wouldn't be anywhere else. I was telling of her of his side of the conversation and she said she IS glad I come everyday. I told her it was an obligation, it wasn't something I thought I had to do, I do it because I love her and she needs somebody watching over her. That nobody else could watch over like I could ;) She then; told me that she did need somebody checking on her everyday. I told her it wouldn't matter if somebody else saw her and told me how she was, I wouldn't believe them anyway. Here's why. I told her youngest how she's not breathing very well. So he came last weekend and then he told me she was breathing just FINE. So I passed that little tidbit onto Phyllis in our conversation yesterday. She said her son wasn't very bright---LOL She's having a lot of anxiety, a combination of a lot of things she can't control. One of them was over her tree. I think I gave her too much information that my tree guy shared with me. So I took pictures the very next day and showed her. But then I told her that there's a ton of them at the foundation and we needed to go over and get them chopped down. She's got us confused with her children, thinking we'd never get to them. Well we did. They're history. She really knows better than that about me or us, but for some reason, she was very afraid of the roots hurting her foundation. She's calmed down somewhat because the tree is gone and so are all the others around or at her foundation. I put 2 of the pictures up on her bulletin board for her to look at. She's happy about that. I also printed out our dining room, showing Stacy's bench. I put that up also. She likes it and I guess so does everybody else who sees the picture! Mostly they're noticing our hardwood floors and all my antiques shown in the picture. I thought that was funny. I took lots of pictures and we have one of those small printers, prints the 4x6 photos. I printed them all off for her. One of the pictures is of what's left of the stump. It's really an optical illusion, but the stump; looking down the way I did, looks like it's heart shaped. So she really likes that. She's doing alright. I stay for a couple hours and let her rest. She still isn't able to do much in therapy and she knows with not being able to walk, she has to stay there. Her kids better not yank her out and move her in with them anyway. I'll argue that one.

I also fell that morning of the 14th. Slipped on the servant stairs, coming down, carrying Zoey in her crate. My foot hit the step wrong, more at the edge then on the flat surface and down I went. Poor Zoey. I don't bruise. I mean for me to have a bruise is pretty rare. But boy oh boy is my behind bruised! Hurt? Ouchy momma.

Speaking of Zoey, she's outside. When she's done, we're going to bed. Please excuse any errors, not used to this little keyboard on this laptop!

Night all!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Terry you are so cute! Falling on stairs hurts no matter how you land. I'm glad Phyllis is hanging in there. Her son must be in denial. What a mess! How can those kids allow that house to get like that, what if she was released today? I guess they figure she'll never be released. Where's the love??

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I forgot to mention that I never let go of Zoey's crate. She ended up, still in the crate, in my lap, back end side down. So she was on the back end of the crate. Poor baby. I wish I could show you all my bruise, but being as where it is, I think I better not..lol. It's HUGE and BLACK!! I think the only time I had one that huge and that black, was when I was in a car accident, not wearing a seat belt (back in May of '84). A car had pulled out in front of me down in Peoria and I flew into the steering wheel, my knee crashed over into the radio, knocking off all the knobs. The steering wheel was bent to fit my chest☺ The car just came out of nowhere, I had no time to stop, although I did try. I can't remember how many feet of skid marks I left on the roadway. The bruise I had back then, was from the turn signal/cruise control cramming itself (it then was knocked off) into my side. I broke something like 5 ribs in that accident. I've never had a concussion, though my head has slammed into a windshield twice, including that time. I broke the windshield too. Both times in an accident. That time with the broken ribs and knocking off the knobs, turn signal and cruise control, they totaled my car. Not because of the outside, but because of the damage of me flying around inside. And my car wasn't even a yr. old then. Krista was firmly in her car seat, seated right next to me. Back then, they didn't have anything about toddlers, babies, being in the back seat. She wasn't hurt at all. I had a CPS woman come into my ER room, because I hadn't asked how she was. I knew she was fine and so I hadn't asked. I was in kind of a lot of pain at the time too? Ya know? jeez. Poor John, coming to rescue me, once again☺

This son is the youngest, and I was told back when she was in the hospital, that he was in denial. I would think he had eyes though and could see for himself. If I say something to Phyllis about the condition of her yard or her home, I hear how "busy" everyone is. They all work ya know. I guess I sit around eating bon bons all day? Huh, they must be good. You should see what they did to the storm door that was our old door and Stacy bought it from us when I got a new one, and he put it up at their house. It's almost been ripped out of the door frame. Forget about the glass going up and down anymore, it doesn't. On the big door, something happened to the door stop, so the door has been crammed into the drywall I don't know how many times. Big huge hole in it. Walls were painted by Stacy (except the kitchen and family room which I did in the '90's), back in the late 80's. Holes all down the hallway. I don't think any of them washes their hands, so dirt all over the walls, everywhere. Kitchen cabinets needed replacing, oh, about 15 yrs. ago. The bottom is busted under the sink. Vinyl floors are sticky, even though I've scrubbed and scrubbed on them. It's the finish coming off. Holes in almost all doors, closet doors missing.

The saddest part, is that I know these (adult) kids. They're going to want top dollar for this house. And they aren't going to get it. There's no way anyone is going to pay the money they want, for a house that needs new everything. Her cleaning lady and I have talked. We both think what they'll do is ask her to clean and me to paint. To "fix" it up to sell. Baloney. It can't be fixed. It needs replacing. Oh, I had planted daylilies and hosta for her. When we moved, I had asked them all to make sure those beds were weeded. Are they? ROLFL!!

I know she didn't raise them that way and I know Stacy would knock them all to high heaven if he was here. I've always loved helping her, but having to deal with the kids, or go thru them to get things done? Has, and always will be, a pain in my keester. Phyllis relies on me. And that's o.k. I don't mind at all. It's them that I mind. And they wonder, they honestly wonder, why their mom relies on me so much.

You know what the youngest said to me the other day? I was telling him about when I went into her room at the nursing home, and she was dreaming or something, but shaking, eyes flying open, etc. I told the nurse and they checked her stats ASAP. As I was telling him, I said something about having watched her sleep something like 50 bazillion times and he says "more than I have". Isn't that sad?

I think John is finally ready to go, so I better get going. For once it's not me holding things up, it's him!☺

Have a good day everybody!!

(Zone 7a)

Okay, my post went flooey! I hate that! It was all about how I had comments on relatives that don't help, accidents I've been in...it was all very witty but I'm tired today, maybe later.

Everyone have a marvelous day! LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm tired too, I can't look at numbers today, they keep dancing around the paper. If someone would give me a pillow I would fall asleep. I need chocolate!! And I hate it when that happens Celia! Rotten cat on the loose! LOL Looks like you have a Maine Coon Cat, Celia. Tiga is a Maine Coon Cat, the "Great Dane" of cats!

(Zone 7a)

Yup! Half Maine Coon and half red Siamese. His feet are webbed and everything. He was a rescue from the pound. He had two brothers and one sister and mom got him as a Mother's Day present in '98. About 3 weeks after she got him, she stepped backwards onto him and fell, putting her back out. She had to be laid up for 6 weeks. She called me and said that I needed to come over and see if HE was okay! LOL She thought she'd killed him from stepping on him. He was under her bed and wouldn't come out. I had to drag him out, him hissing all the way. I took him to my house and kept him while she recovered. By then he'd bonded with me and she said I had to keep him. Dang! So sad to have to keep a beautiful cat like him. Ugh! It's aweful! LOL

You guys are sounding waaay to much like me with all the accidents now. LOL.

Last night I went to an event at work that we call Full Moon Fridays. A bunch of us had never been and we all have mentioned at one time how cool it would be to do a girl's night out together. So we did that last night. We had some good food and they had some good drinks. We hung out, listened to the band, then toured the gardens in the dark. It was overcast so we didn't have the moon to lead us. :~( It was different seeing it in the dark like that. All in all it was great fun. Funny thing though was when I got home after work and before the event, I was dead on my feet. My mom kept asking if I was gonna be able to make it. Told her I would be fine once I was in the truck and on the road. She then says, "Don't lean on a tree or you will fall asleep." LOLOL. Never happened. LOL

Monday, I am going to a nearby town and going to visit the 3rd tallest horse in the world. His name is Shrek and he's only there for one day so a bunch of us at work are gonna go see him. Not very often you can meet a famous horse up close and personal.

(Zone 7a)

I once saw the heaviest horse. He was humungous. My Darrell came around the corner where the horse was kept just in time for the horse the lift his tail and..."step on a duck". Darrell said, "Okay, I've seen enough." So, we left.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL your poor Darrell!

Tiga is half Maine Coon Cat and half Tabby. She showed up at my door when she was about 3 weeks old, I had to wein her and everything. That was in '96. Maine Coons are such good, smart cats. I recognized it by the way he holds his tail, I'm always saying Tiga has a question LOL

(Zone 7a)

Yup! That question mark is distinctive, isn't it? LOL He always wants to know "What? What happened? Did I miss something?"

Thumbnail by kwanjin
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yup, I have a feeling that Dave has spoiled Tiga to no return. Ever since he went to bed at 1:00 she's been laying down, not sleeping, just laying there. He got up a few minutes ago for about 3 minutes and she got all excited, running around the house cooing, he went back to bed and she's laying down again staring off into space.
That's a really cute picture. He looks at the camera too! What a Ham Bone!
