Yaaayyy! Celia! You're back!!

How was your vacation?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh man! One of my sunflowers fell over yesterday in the storm, now today it's wilted :( :( :( I wonder if the seeds will be any good if it dies.

(Zone 7a)

No, they need to ripen on the stalk. Dang!!!

Yes, I'm back. Here's a link to my trip pics. There were too many to put on the varied threads.

Well, the stalk looks a little better now, and it's standing up on it's own. Hopefully it'll make it.

Does anyone know if this "sleeping" bumble bee is sleeping? I have found 4 of them on these flowers.

Finally a new thread!!!! LOL. With terry writing a book it was getting hard to load. :~p.

Nothing new here. Tomatoes are growing like wildfire though. They out grew their cages and that has NEVER happened!! But all the rain helped. And I have one Beefmaster ripe and have eaten several pea sized maters too.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

YUM! Delicious! Our one roma tomato plant has the one tomato on it that has been growing for some time now and is getting big, and tons of blossoms!

(Zone 7a)

Terry? Where are you? Defend yourself, girl! LOL

Mmmm...tomatoes. We ate raspberries off the bushes in Oregon. And strawberries. And currants. Oh, and blueberries.

Hope the sunflower IS getting better. All those seeds don't need to go to waste. (Someday I'll learn to spell correctly.)

Hello, Hello...WELCOME HOME Celia!!!

Lovely vacation. Thank you for sharing such pretty pictures.

I am very backed up with all the threads! LOL, Here is why...

Exactly one week from today, I am hosting sort of a DG Roundup!!

What started as a little bit of a joke, with running away and meeting has officially and literally became just that!
So next Monday, My friends from Best Worst and What did i learn today are arriving to MY house.
Woohoooo, can't begin to tell you how excited I am.
Liz (Lizrainy) from CA, Ruby.from VA, Bettypause from Canada, and possibly Shar from Ky...Plus I am inviting another DG Lauren as she lives only an hour away....Haha, I was telling a friend from work, because well , i always blab up a storm about my "garden" friends and So I was saying my friends from Dave's Garden are coming and she OH DAVE"S I'm thinking of joining! of Course I tell her yes you should.
So invited her too. I'm walking around in a dream and just very excited, now the time is nearing and i am sort of nervous, but not, you know what I mean?

Anyway I have got to fly off to work, and pretend to concentrate, LOL.

See you all later!
Have a wonderful Day....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

You are going to have a blast Seed! How exciting!

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Terry!!!))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

(Zone 7a)

Oh, Judy! You're going to have such a wonderful time. Good luck with all the planning. DON'T be nervous. (Yeah, easy for me to say. LOL)

Judy, thanks for keeping in touch while I was away. You're a love. It was nice to know someone was thinking of me and Darrell.

I have to work today. (sigh) It'll be great, though. I always come back from vacation wiht a bang. And the day will go by fast since I'm off tomorrow.

Gosh, I missed you all! Crissy, how's the sunflower doing?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It's holding it's own, standing up by itself but it leans into the one to the right of it, that's what I propped it up on when I stood it up. It's not wilted anymore either Woo Hoo!

(Zone 7a)

Yea! Standing by itself is good.

Another end to another day. I'm up late again and wondering how everyone is doing.

Terry? Where'd you go?

Thumbnail by kwanjin
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Terry being gone this long makes me worry about her and Phyllis. I hope everythings alright.

GGRRRRRRRRRRR Dave's uncle Roy is here for a week and he's driving me nuts! He's half deaf, refuses to wear a hearing aid so whenever you talk to him you have to yell, and wants to mess with everything. We have a new house, it's about 1 1/2 years old, he's trying to force the non-adjustable shower head to adjust the water, and force the slow drain to drain, I just want to go in there and say, "Leave it Alone!!!" I want to go take a shower myself and get the *&^# outta here for a little while but I don't want to wake Dave up as he worked all night last night (thank heavens he's off for 5 nights in a row now!) At noon I'm going to take a shower, I don't have the patience! This would be an awesome week for gardening all day and half the night.

(Zone 7a)

Oh! Crissy, I did not think of that! Oh!

TERRY! Quick, come find us and let us know! Please...

Crissy, sorry about that. I had a BIL who stayed with us for two years. He was so annoying. Sheesh!!! LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I just talked to terry last night so I am suprised she isn't on here yet. Probably got busy. I sent her a d-mail though telling her to get back on here quick.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes, we are all worried about her and Phyllis! I fee like I was left on a learch LOL, whatever a learch is LOL

Celia, your stronger than I am girl, I couldn't handle two years, he's been here for, well, just over 24 hours and we're going insane. He told us last night he wants the three of us to go to Colton's Steak House for dinner on Tuesday, made a huge issue of it, so at 4:00pm today he finally decides he's going to go see his brother, Dave's dad, for a little while. I asked him what time he wanted to do dinner (since he's made this huge fuss over Colton's,) he said, "Oh don't wait for me for dinner, I'm probably not coming back." Ok, whatever, so me and Dave made our own plans, knowing his dad had to leave for work at 6:00pm. At 6:05pm uncle calls, "So what time is Colton's?" The three of us decided that he would come back to my house and we would go to the Colton's in Hot Springs because we wanted beer, the Colton's in Benton is in a dry county. So we get half way to Hot Springs and Uncle says, "It seems we've been driving a very long time, I thought we were going to Colton's" Dave said, "We are, in Hot Springs." Uncle snaps back, "Oh, well I have family to go visit!" What???? So we pull up in the parking lot, park, go in, get our seats and menus, and Uncle says, "Oh, we Are at Coltons!" I don't think he ever understood that Colton's is a chain and there's a bunch of them.
I'm wondering if this extremely odd behavior is because he can't hear, so instead of making people repeat things 20 times he just says Yea and Ok when he didn't hear the conversation, or he's in the beginning stages of Alzheimers. My grandmother behaved like this when she was in the beginning stages, so I'm kinda worried about that. We had to turn on the caption on the tv because he can't hear it at all, unless the volume is all the way up. I want to ask him, "Can you hear the words that are coming out of my mouth?" LOL but I won't do that, that's mean ;)

(Zone 7a)

That is mean but oh so funny! LOL

There were times when I wanted to kill. Not just say "I'm gonna kill him.", but seriuosly had to hold myself in check. Clenched fists and jaw, sweat pouring, telling myself over and over..."Don't do it, girl. He's not worth it." LOL I've mentioned before how aweful it was near the end. He would break things and blame me, forget and leave doors unlocked, melted my good stuff in the microwave, ate ALL our treats. NEVER helped out with money or cleaning.

When he was in a car accident and broke two ribs, he waited until 1pm the next day for Darrell to come get him out of bed. I understand it hurts, I understand that broken ribs are the worst (I've had one.), I know I should feel pity but good heavens! he didn't shower fot 4 days because he said he couldn't raise his arms! What??!?!?! Get yer butt in the shower!

There's more but it would be too much and I'd just get angry again. ;-)

Had a good day today. Very hot but a good one. Hope you all had the same.

Goodnight...

Woo Hoo!! Dave took Uncle to meet the employee and mow the lawn over at the house they're attempting to fix up, I'm going to go shopping and get my nails done and whatever else I want to do, I have about 3 hours!

(Zone 7a)

Have fun!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Lots of bad storms in the area tonight. Golf ball to tennis ball size hail. Hasn't hit us yet otherwise I wouldn't be on here. lol.

Hope you had fun Crissy!!!

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm here! Sorry!! Yes, I have been busy. With preparing all the beds and planting, then rushing to visit Phyllis and running errands for her, then running errands for us, planting my own plants, spreading mushroom compost---haven't had a whole lot of time. I'm also trying to make a DVD for Phyllis of our home and yard. From the beginning to now. The program isn't cooperating though, and the pictures aren't in the correct order. They're so small, I can't see them. I've also had to clean up my computer upstairs that Krista now uses and her lap-top. Tried backing up the photo files onto a DVD, but it wouldn't work. Then got a flash drive (?) from my dad and couldn't figure out how the dang thing worked. We were supposed to go to AR last week, all thru this week till this Sun. The water is too high, it's raining buckets down there, have too much to do here, Phyllis needs me, yadda yadda.

There are things in our lives which we can control. One of those things is our compassion and understanding for others. Please don't think I'm lecturing, I'm not☺ Crissy, Uncle is sounding a lot like my grandma. She found it incredibly embarrassing to say "what?", "huh?", and so she'd nod or just tell say yes. Always with that wonderful smile on her face. She didn't answer in the way that was expected, so I knew she hadn't heard me. I'd wait a minute or two and repeat myself even louder. Our daughter is also hard of hearing. Has been since birth. No doctor would believe me, long story there, so I took matters into my own hands. 50% hearing loss in both ears. She won't wear 2 aids, she only wants one. I have "trained" her, so to speak, to never be embarrassed when somebody says "what?" to her, so she repeats it. Same if she doesn't understand what you're saying. Please remember that hearing aids don't "fix" the hearing, they only amplify the sounds, the tones, that the person can hear. Not like glasses, where they correct your vision. Just be patient and explain things to them. They aren't children, so need to talk to them like one. But sometimes things that they aren't familiar with need explaining. Regarding the hearing aids, he probably doesn't really understand that his hearing loss was such a slow process, he's learned to not hear the sounds he always heard before. What he needs is a good audiologist who will work with him and make sure the hearing aid is properly adjusted for HIM. When my husband and I got married (27 yrs. tomorrow!), I became the SIL of his severely disabled brother. He has CP and is also mildly to moderately retarded. Lots of things I didn't understand, but I talked to Jim a lot. And he explained to me how his brain works, doesn't work, etc. I became Jim's best friend, because no one ever took the time to listen or talk to him. CP is catching, did you know that? LOL Anyway, the year after John and I were married, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. It wasn't until she was 1, that I finally got a doctor to agree that there was something wrong with her. She wasn't simply born with no thyroid, that was discovered at almost 2 weeks old, she almost died. That's easily fixable with proper meds. We then learned that our precious daughter also was born with CP. Not severe, like her uncle, but CP nonetheless. She has a hearing loss, hypothyroidism, Jim doesn't, she is retarded, just like her uncle. And no, CP is NOT hereditary. Meeting Jim was one of the best things that could of happened. I was prepared for whatever lay ahead of us. Because of him. Because of Jim and my daughter, it's given me compassion, patience and a host of other things that others don't have. Some might say or have said to me, "Oh! I'm sooo sorry!!" I always respond, "what's there to be sorry about??" She is who she is. God doesn't make mistakes. Does our daughter drive me crazy sometimes?? She sure does!! LOL But excepting people for who they are, is so much easier than trying to change that person. I hope this all makes sense. pepper is thinking I'm writing another novel!!☺

Oh, one more thing (sorry pepper). Pity is probably the worst thing a person can feel for someone. Compassion, empathy, understanding, acceptance, they all get you a lot further in life than having pity for something/one will ever get you. Think about them as if it were you. Would you want pity? Or would you want compassion, empathy, understanding and acceptance? Think about it.

I don't know why I am the way I am, I'm grateful though. I don't understand why I am the way I am and not like my parents and my siblings. Perhaps the story my brother loves to tell of finding me under a rock by the front door, I was 15 and he was a mere 6 months old, is really true! I'd almost believe that, if not for looking like my sister and having the (insert my maiden name here) nose I have☺

I think if my parents would think about it, if I wasn't the way I was, say I was just like my brother or my sister, would I be preparing beds and planting all those plants for them? Would half the things they need done, get done? Hmmm...

Phyllis is holding her own. I went with her to the hospital last Fri. for a blood test. Her veins are so deep down, they couldn't find the one they needed to test for her blood gases. I suppose some would say that was a waste of my 2 hours, but I feel differently. Being with Phyllis is never a waste of time☺ She's really out of breath today. I called for the nurse, she says all is alright, but I think not. Her youngest daughter and her youngest son should be here either tomorrow or Sat. I'll speak to them then. I have spoke to those 2 in depth over the last week, updating them as needed. Her sister (the one person I can't find any compassion for. funny thing is Phyllis told me no one does) called when we weren't there, and while Krista and I were there, her brother called. She just didn't have the breath needed to talk. So I don't know. Supper was extremely hard for her to eat, she didn't have the breath needed. ;(

My new spade came today! I just ordered it 2 days ago! That was fast. It's "the king of spades". All metal, won't rust, won't dent, has a large foot pad on the right side, but can moved if needed, self sharpening.

Our new leather couch will be delivered a week from this Fri. They only come here one time a week, so next week it is.

Krista is leaving with my parents for AR tomorrow. I'm not sure how long they'll be gone. Mom said something about either 10 days, or coming home on the 10th. I wasn't listening☺

Fri. night we're going to a park here in town and meeting up with Jim and his roommates and some other people. On Sun., we're going the a town about 15 miles away to watch their fireworks. On Sat., in between those 2 days, John and I take Jim shopping. His 50th birthday is on the 14th!! It's our annual shopping trip. Shop till you drop is our motto. And the doctor way back when said he'd never live to see 40..LOL Showed them now, didn't he??

Well, finally. I had nails, but with all the digging in the dirt (can't stand gloves), my nails have all broke and split. Crissy, I refuse to believe yours are real!! Mine are very thick, usually long and painted, and people always ask me who does my nails. When I say I do, they can't believe I put on acrylic nails all by myself! Who says they're acrylic?? They're mine, all mine! I even had to remove my nail polish once to PROVE they were mine and not fake!! LOL

O.k. that was the last chapter...this time...LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Pepper I just saw the weather and you're getting those storms very soon, if you're not already. UG

Happy Anniversary Terry!!!!!! Yay You're here!
Thanks for that info, the problem lies that he's had a hearing aid for 4 years and has Never had it adjusted. He owns a towing business, I think it's dangerous for him to be driving around towing cars without a good working hearing aid. I know about drs saying there's nothing wrong when there's everything wrong. I was born with 2 ureters on my left side instead of one. That extra ureter was twisted around the other one preventing my bladder and kidneys from growing, ever. My mom kept taking me back to the doctor countless times with bladder infections, one right after the other. She kept saying there's something wrong, these bladder infections are not normal, and of course the older I got the worse it got. The doctor kept telling her it's all in her head, she's a typical paranoid new mom. When I was 7 my doctor was changed, that doctor took one look at me and without an examination forced my mom to take me out of school for an unknown amount of time so he can do exploratory surgery (ultrasound hadn't been invented yet, and the stupid doctor that kept saying there was nothing wrong was taking X-rays, ureters are not visible in X-rays.) After an 8 hour surgery he told my parents and grandparents that he had found an extra ureter twisted around the other one and my bladder and kidneys were the size of a newborns, if I hadn't had the surgery I would not have been alive in another 3 months, and I was catheterized and out of school for 3 months. The dr said I would always have bladder infections, but the 2nd ureter was functioning perfectly normal, as the other two were (one on the right, one on the left) so he left it. You know, I have never had another bladder infection since, and I'm 35 years old now.
I gotta tell ya'll, I got even in my own little way a few years ago. I was having pains in my right side so instead of my dr giving me an exam to check things out, he just starts sending me to tests. The third and last test I took was one where you drink some die and they watch it go through your urinary track to make sure there's not blockages (he thought it was a urinary track problem, I kept telling him I would know if it was, been there done that.) Anyway, so I do this test and I didn't tell them about the 2 ureters on the left, one on the right (I couldn't remember which side it was on anyway.) The guys watching the picture of the die about freaked! They said, "Oh My! Do you know you have 3 ureters??" It was hilarious, they've never seen that before! Anyway, my urinary track was fine, I didn't go for any more tests, and when I had my annual with my OBGYN I told her about the pain on the right I still had, she reached up inside me and gave something a very light tug. I felt the pain instantly get way worse, then disappear, it was scar tissue from that surgery attaching itself to an ovary! Good Grief!

LOL my nails have always broke as soon as they get fingertip length. I've been getting them done for about 6 to 7 years now. I have one tip, the rest are covered with acrylic. What's really weird, and I think this is really weird, is in California just about everyone gets their nails done but hardly anyone wears contacts. Here in Arkansas, everyone wears contacts but no one gets their nails done LOL

We're supposed to go camping on Friday and it's supposed to rain BUM!!!!

Well, have a gn everyone! I have a mosquito I need to kill, then I need to go to bed.

(Zone 7a)

Dang! I missed everyone again!

Have a good night, all and be good, be kind, be aware, be patient, be where you're needed most.

Lots of damage in the metro area but the hail never hit here. But at one point it was raining so hard that I couldn't see the lights in the yard. Then something hit the back door so mom and I ran downstairs for a few minutes cause we didn't know if the door was gonna break. I haven't seen the back yard yet but so far I haven't seen any big limbs down in the front.

(Zone 7a)

Let us know. I hope nothing too horrible happened.

Crissy, how did your excurrsion go yesterday?

Glenview, IL

Hello,
Well nice to see everyone on again!
Missed your stories, LOL my eyes dazzled in delight
in this mornings read.

Terri, I've got to tell you I just think you are a doll.
LOL, too funny about the nails.
Crissy, Hope you had a fun outing yesterday.
Celia, some beautiful pictures! Hows getting back into the rountine?
Pepper, Good heavens, I hope all is well again in your area. Yikes thats some storm.

Well, yesterday I had a pretty awful conversation with my neice.
I am over it and way too excited for the coming week.

Yippee today at 3 starts my vacation!! House is in presentable order, LOL wish i could say the same for gardens, weeds are outragous, I've given up on the plantings as the deer, (love them) have chomped and chowed on everything possible. They travel in herds and of the times to find my gardens they did! Soo boohoo...ROFL, I used to tease if they didn't leave my gardens alone they be dinner on my table. Then one had a sore leg and limped around, actually sat in the way back, hahah, had to see it as a real life garden statue...Well now they have eaten everything and actually are now chowing the Weeds!! LOL, Remember the flinstone had dinasours to cut the lawns and trim hedges, well I've got the Modern day deer weedeater.
Too funny Celia, I am thinking of you and your love for Thrillers, picture my DG friends with the Physco music as they scream running from the jungles in my yard....LOL, they have been warned. But, will have so much fun crafting...Lizrainey is going to teach me how to make a potperson!! She has several and I just love em!

Ok well just wanted to pop in and say
Happy SAFE 4th of July to all.
I'll be in and out till friday then back sometime on Sunday.

So have a splendid day.

(Zone 7a)

I have to work the 4th but we always stay in that ngiht. Too many drunks in our area. We have to keep a vigil for stray fireworks, too They're all nuts. The city is thinking of banning them after this. I hope they do. Too much of a hazard with the dry weather and stuff.

Judy, having a tough time getting "back into the routine". LOL I always spend the next month or so still on vacation in my head!

Well damage was minor in my yard. Just lots of limbs down. But my next door neighbor has a tree on top of her trailer, though it's just sitting there-no harm done, and a neighbor up the street had lightning hit one of her trees lining the road. She won't be happy to see that when she gets home. On a neighboring road there are several trees at one house that have lots of damage. Pretty sad cause he's known for his nice trees.

All of the gravel roads are a mess around here. The rain came down so hard and fast that we had alot of flash flooding last night. Plus the wind was probably close or above 70 mph. We had that with the rain at one point and couldn't see any of our lights outside. Then we heard a noise out back so we ran downstairs til it calmed down a bit.

So things are a mess but it could have been alot worse.

A funny thing did happen last night though. When I was downstairs I went to walk around an old metal school chair we have and stubbed my toes on it. I stubbed them hard enough that when I got up this morning they still hurt. When I got a chance to look at them I found one was bruised and swollen and the others were just slightly swollen. I have been limping off and on all day and a few times my whole toe area went numb. They are still bruised and swollen and I am STILL limping. lol. But they aren't broken which is good cause that would have made it hard to walk around at work. lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My excursion was fun, but short. I ran out of things to do in Benton and I didn't want to use the gas or put more miles on my car to go to Little Rock, or back to Hot Springs, so I just came home. We were going to a movie and dinner anyway so I didn't care. Dave's funny, I walked in the house and he comes running, "Honey, why are you home so early? I didn't call you so you can have more time to yourself!" LOL The movie was ok, we went to see Wanted. I've been waiting for that movie for months, and it's worth 2 stars, I liked it though LOL It's kinda like the last Matrix and the movie called The Fight Club, except this was an assassin club. Very stupid plots. We had dinner at our favorite Chinese Buffet, they have really good sushi and hibachi there, and they're coconut shrimp is to die for. We were watching the previews and we saw this one called Death Race, we want to see that, comes out in August. YAY!

LOL Uncle got it in his head somehow that we're going to Mt. Ida to the reunion tonight, 1 1/2 away, we never told him that! LOL We're going tomorrow. I am seriously worried about Alzheimers, he's doing exactly what my grandmother did. He apparently loaned his rental car to his drunk niece to drive down the street to get ice, now his rental car is wrecked, apparently she backed up into the mail box. There can't be that much damage. He called his insurance company already, which may not be the best thing to do in this case because other drivers are not covered on rental cars. Oh, Dave just hung up with him! Even better, I hope ya'll like drama cause I seem to be full of it lately LOL He told the insurance company that he was driving and it happened in Wal Mart parking lot. He'd be better off not saying anything! Good grief this guy is causing more drama than it's worth!

Gee Pepper, I hope everything's alright from the storm. That's scary! I'm glad you didn't get the big hail YIKES!

Celia, we used to stay in too when we lived in Modesto. Between the gangs, drunks, and white trash it wasn't a good time. Last year was our first year here in Ar and we went to the reunion and met everyone, then we were back at our apartment before dark. Our apartment was very small and run down but it was on a cove of Lake Hamilton, across the cove is a very, very nice gated subdivision. Someone must have spent a few grand on fireworks over there cause we had a whale of a show, lasted about an hour! We won't get that luxury this year so we might stay and watch the fireworks over Lake Ouachita, hopefully we'll be able to see them from the campsite! I'll let ya'll know! I hope we stay the night too!

I want to go visit my friend but I need to get up early tomorrow to start prepping my salad. Hmmmmm

Well, if I don't talk to anyone tomorrow, Have a Great 4th of July!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL it took me an hour to type that, so I'm glad your yard isn't that bad, even though it sucks for your neighborhood. I know how it is when your gravel driveway gets washed down the road LOL I stubbed my toes like that on a wall when I was walking out of my bathroom a long time ago. My toes did the same thing, so I went to the dr for x-rays, I had a hairline fracture on the one that was bruised and swollen, but the couldn't do anything for it, so don't take your hard earned time to go to the dr when they can't do anything for toes LOL I had a feeling cause I've had hairline fractures in my wrists and elbows 5 times, yes I'm a bit of a clutz LOL!

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Just thought I'd bump in here and say hi to all of you. Been feeling kinda down lately and just need some company. Pepper...i did that once and it hurt like you-know-what! I hope they feel better soon.

Still incredibly dry here....not that I want any storms but we are getting desperate for rain of any kind. If we would not have gotten 1/4 of an inch the last day in June the whole month would have been completely dry. I feel for all the farmers out there.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!

Kim

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL. I am a big clutz too!

We are lucky with our driveway cause we put bigger chunks of gravel instead of the finer pieces at the bottom last month or in May. My next door neighbor likes to turn around in our driveway and the mailman turns in here too. So it we put the big gravel to keep it level and to keep it from flooding out. It has worked great but now we need to bring it up some more so that the water will flow a bit better.

(Zone 7a)

Oh, Amanda. So sorry you did that! LOL I do it ALL the time. Hit the doorways with my shoulders going through, too. Sheesh!

Sad about tree being hit by lightning. I was inside a building where I worked once and the big tree outside our door was hit. I never heard such a bang before.

Blue eyes, don't be shy about coming here. We'll cheer you in no time! LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Well, it looks like a small tornado hit my neighboring road. My dad went that way today and said damage was more like a tornado instead. A friend of ours over there has some heavy damage to his roof and has tree limbs all over his yard from his neighbor across the street. I will get to see it tomorrow for myself.

More bad news: I may have to get a new tranny for my truck. Mine is acting up pretty bad so we are gonna call our tranny shop and get it checked out. If they have to replace it then we are gonna do that. Body and motor are so far in great shape and I really don't want to buy another vehicle. lol

Good news: I bought 5 bags of hardwood mulch to keep weeds at bay and gave plants to a friend and coworker of my mom's. She can't afford plants but loves to garden so I gave her all the extra cannas I had and some caladiums that I hadn't planted yet. Speaking of cals, are they hardy in zone 5?

Hope everyone has a great and safe night!! We are staying home so we can keep an eye on the house and make sure my next door neighbor's don't burn anything down.

(Zone 7a)

Amanda, that was nice of you! I like giving away things to people who deserve it. I don't think the cals will be hardy. Glad the tornado wasn't bigger. New trannys are better than new vehicles. LOL

How was everyone's 4th?

Sorry guys!! I'm STILL planting!! Will I ever be done?? I could on this huge rant about what does my dad NOT get about dead meaning dead?? I mean if it's actively green and growing, then it's not dead!! jeepers!

Our 4th was nice!! Our town puts on a nice fireworks display, and only smoke bombs, snakes and sparklers are allowed to be bought here. Might be a few other things a person can buy, it sure isn't much though. We met my BIL (John's brother) and his roommates and 2 staff. Cops were all over, so no drinking allowed at this particular park. Got home around 11:30pm. It was nice and quiet. NO KRISTA!! ROFL!!

Judy, I guess aww shucks again! I'm just me being me☺ You don't want to cross me if you're trying to stop somebody's ability from the right thing, their God given rights (especially regarding the disabled and the elderly). You're not going to win any argument. I won't even allow you to think you've won it! And what ever you do, don't accuse me of something I did not do. I will fight for my right to be heard and to tell the truth. Just happened again with a different staff then the 2 from the 4th. jeepers. I will defend myself and I will explain. I'm thinking I need a tape recorder to carry at all times anymore. My dad however, yells at me saying I have no diplomacy. Well, maybe I don't, but I get done what I need to. Period, end of discussion!

I was wrong---again! ROFL! We take Jim shopping next Sat., not yesterday. Duh on me! I can't keep my dates straight anymore.

Visited with Phyllis last night. She's out of breath and it's just very hard for her to breath. ;(

All rain has bypassed us. It's getting dry here. Amanda, I happy you're all alright. A few branches down is better than losing a few limbs on ones person!!

Blue eyes!! Welcome and join in on our madness!

Crissy, ROFL! You're like me, taking forever to type up a reply (my novel as Amanda calls them) and somebody always types while I'm busy writing!!

I'm supposed to be on here looking for a movie for John and I to go see today. I'm not doing my "job" very well!! LOL I best go and see what alls playing.

OM, it rained so much, Fri we got home from the campsite at 10:30pm and ALL of my sunflowers were laying on the ground. So I went out that night and propped them up with bricks and 20lb rocks. Sat morning before we went back to the campsite I got soggy red clay from my shelter area and had to literally replant all the sunflowers, they were moved away from their holes 2 to 3"! We got home last night at 6:00pm and they were all laying down again. The paved road was covered in dirt and more of my 20lb rocks (which had to be picked up cause the road humps in the middle) and all my dirt that I replanted them with is completely gone, lots of exposed roots right now. I'm debating if I want to take my extremely sunburned body out there and cover them again or just wait, it's 95 degrees already with the heat index. It must have really, really poured yesterday. I'm wondering if I can move the flowers over to the fence and replant them there, they've been uprooted 2 days in a row now. Next year they are going along the fence so I can tie them up! The tomato plant and it's wire thing around it were washed half way down the yard! It's back to it's hole now though. Good Grief!

How was everyone's 4th? Mine was eventful, I'll just put it that way LOL

We had our Booms and Blooms event at work last night. Last I heard there were about 4000 people there. It was busy, dirty and HOT inside!! lol. Someone propped open all the doors so all the cool air from the a/c went outside leaving everyone else sweating.

The fireworks show went great! I got to stand outside and see all but the lower ones. There were trees in front of me so I couldn't see those and I couldn't move to another spot either cause I needed to be near the building. I was there til a little after 11pm and didn't get nearly enough stuff done but I couldn't stay as late as I wanted to cause they want us to keep overtime down.

While there I also bought some dayliles from some people who come every year and sell them. I got Fire Escape, Sunday Gloves and Merry Monarch. Sunday Gloves and Fire Escape will be my favorites I have a feeling.

Terry, you should just write an actual novel considering how much you love to write! LOL

Crissy, stay out of the sun for awhile and let those burns heal.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Crissy, I agree. Stay out of the sun with your dehyrated skin and let it heal. If, by chance, you get a really cloudy day, then possibly run out and move them in the early early morning. Sunflowers are pretty picky, your kind of sunflowers anyway. They get knocked down and they break very easily.

pepper, it's not that I like to write?! It's that I like to talk and talk and talk and talk---you get the idea. You don't ever have to say a word. I do all the talking and I never seem to run out of things to say..ROFL!

We went and saw 'Hancock' today. Really good movie! I love Will Smith and this was just an excellent movie. I remember now why we don't go to very many movies. $13 for 2 people, a matinee no less, and $13 for popcorn and 2 drinks. We also bought a new hose reel and we got a fire pit. Finally. I've wanted one for years now! Now to set it up and get a nice cool evening so we can set a fire!
