Still have to go out and rent a chipper to clean up the branches.... on my...

Yes the dogs were most interested as to what all the wood shaving from the chain saws were all about.

Down at the bottom of the truck we counted 49 rings so the tree had stood 49 years of weather before it was taken down. It was an Ash tree and they aren't the strongest of trees, but it sure was nice to have in the back yard. We suspect it won't be long before the remaining trunk goes and with it will be the another smaller tree and the left side fence and grape arbor will go with it as well. I just pray it doesn't go when the dogs are out. I have six collies who live in the summer outside except for when it rains or storms then (me the mommy can't bear to leave them out) in they come. Our garage is the dog motel...lol

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

10 drops, maybe. I need rain here badly. Patti

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Janet - your dogs are wonderful!! I had one when I was growing up and they are so special!!

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm just thrilled to get rain as I've just started a new flower bed and was getting so tired of watering every day. I was just about ready to go and get some dip hoses and now we are to have rain off and on for the next week. Happy flowers I'll have... bbrookrd, if I could share our rain with ya I sure would.... I'll be saying some prayers that our rain moves on over to you.

Janet

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice to have you here, Janet. Please feel free to 'hang out' on the NE forum!

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

I use to show, do some herding, some obedience and nursing homes with them, but since we have moved to northern Ohio it is so expensive I've had to quit all of those adventures. Now I just love on the dogs. These are the last ones that I'll have in my life time.

My oldest on the left of the picture is 13 and her daugher next to her is 8 and the 2 blue boys (5 years) are her grandsons, then her blue daughter 11 years and the baby of them all who thinks she runs the place is 4 years.

I love them all dearly.

Sorry - my third person was talking again without my permission!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Janet, lovely dogs. Welcome east. Patti

South Hamilton, MA

We had a great deal of thunder and a few sprinkles of rain. We lined out a couple of iris plants in more space and unpotted 3 pots. Really could have used the water, but glad no down trees here. there were some further south & they do like to take down telephone wires.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Gosh we've had lots of thunderstorms the last few weeks. My rain water buckets for my orchids are always full, but they hardly need the water after all the storms. So much for both living in MA!!

South Hamilton, MA

Rain often takes a left turn into NH or right turn towards the Cape in summer for us. June 22 is "complain day".

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Temp 71.2°, Wind SSW .06 mph, Rh 63%. ☺

Weird day, heavy rain for 1 min, then windy, then sun, then rain...

Beautiful dogs! I could have sworn the 2 in the middle were mom and dad!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Boo-that was an awesome pic!
Meadow- Love the dogs, sorry about the tree.
We got diddly-squat in rain here, always seems to go around us. I wish it would because it's so sticky here.

Lexington, VA(Zone 6a)

I've been lurking and "watching" your weather reports - maybe secretly hoping that some of your rain would stop off here as it makes its way NE? Not working - I sound like Patti, I COUNT the rain drops :(( I watch the radar and it's like the whole system coming from the west splits before it gets to us and it rains to the south and north and we get nothing! Last weekend could see the dark skies, lightning and heard the thunder - about 5 drops here and found out the next day that Lexington got almost an inch of rain! We're only two miles out of the 'city' limits and it missed us entirely. We did get an unexpected shower last Sunday that dropped about 1/4" but basically that's all the rain we've had since Mother's Day weekend - it's dry, dry, dry here and not a good sign after the drought we experienced last summer :(

Janet, the photo of your dogs prompted me to post - We have ages, can you introduce them with names? They're beautiful :)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

77* and scattered thunder storms, not enough to wet under the trees.

1 of my dogs is scared to death of t-storms or big bangs. I am surprised she has not had a heart attack or a stroke since yesterday. She shakes and pants like crazy. I have thought about this for a while now and I am going to the vets to get a tranquilizer for her. I think they called it Acer? Summer is here and t-storms will be frequent. Firecracker week is also coming up and that will be a major shake down!

It has been cracking on and off for a couple of hours now. We need some rain but sheese, leave the boomers out.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Meadow - why don't you just take the rest of the tree down? Then you don't have to chance injury or damage.

WC - I have no rabbits by me. Not sure why. Maybe the hawk got them all? I actually never remember seeing rabbits in my neighborhood, even growing up and spending our summers out here. Frogs were the main thing. When I winterized the house and moved out here permanantly, I remember seeing a fox as I drove home from work late at night. Coworkers say they still have some fox out by them in Shirley/Moriches.

Our weather is looking great for this coming week. I've been lucky with the storms as they have been doing the watering for me.

Monday...Patchy fog early this morning...Then showers and thunderstorms becoming likely. Some thunderstorms May be severe with heavy rainfall...Large hail...Frequent lightning and damaging winds this afternoon. Highs around 80. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Wednesday...Sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph...Becoming southwest in the afternoon.
Thursday...Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 80s.
Friday...Partly sunny. Highs in the mid 80s.
Saturday...Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 80s. Chance of rain 40 percent.
Sunday...Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 80s. Chance of rain 30 percent.

70 and raining. Rain in the forecast today and tomorrow.

T-storms again. Here we go with the panting and shaking.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

T-storms woke me up at 4AM. Very wet out there!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

Will it ever stop raining?? I think it has rained in some amount every day for I don't even remember how long. At least yesterday we got some sun. Though it was followed up with a wild t-storm. And it is raining again this morning.

Well, at least I don't have to top off the pond :)

Thundering again. My dog is driving me NUTZ. She is going to the vets at 11 and get tranquilizers. Lord stop the thundering, I dont care if it rains.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

schicken-our kees was so frightened by fireworks 1 year she jumped out of the 2nd story window of our house and ran away. We weren't home but at our neighbors and didn't get home till 1AM and noticed the screen on the front lawn. Called police station to see if someone reported seeing her, thank God a nice guy found her about 3 blocks away and he had her in his fenced backyard.

No real rain here. Muggy and sticky, though. 75 degrees

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Pouring yet again. I think the hoyas and amarylli will all die this summer out in the rain!
At least I gardened madly till noon. I'm cutting the spent bloom stalks of all my millions of siberian irises and peonies. Never did take pics though of new flowers. Sigh. What happened to moderation in all things??

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

I can't see what it's doing out there - it's too foggy!
Sounds like rain...

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Not a drop! Patti

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

Oh my gosh! We have had nothing but rain and lots of thunder! The weather radar shows a line that bisects Dutchess County diagonally, and has for the lat 2.5-3 hours. The rain was very heavy and there are flash flood warnings. Happily, it is 70 degrees.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nothing but cloudy on and off all day here... only got a slight shower yesterday... we are supposed to be getting some heavy stuff later on today though

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Same here. Keeps darkening but no measurable rain today yet.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Lots of water here!
