77, sunny and 40% humidity - very nice. Summer begins at 7:59 - Happy Summer!

It was nice today--but the showers just moved in as I was hoeing the tomatoes & peppers. Its seems as if the entire garden will not be done at the same time--nice half, weedy half! I did sleep like a log--the dogs did not wake me until 7:30!

Hooray for summer! Did we ever really have a spring?

We got YOUR heat here today: 98 * no humidity to speak of, though.

Got a little shower this evening that lasted for ~ ½ hr, but the humidity has increased significantly.

- Thanks Amy & DonnieBrook, she's a small bunny, a year old, part of a litter my neighbor had in his front yard. she's made my backyard a part of her morning and afternoon route and found a safe haven under a 10' x 10 ' evergreen Jew in my backyard. She's very trusting, approaching to within 6' of me and letting me approach within 2' before bolting. As I would any guest I to my home I offered her a treat (a carrot), which she took casually... I believe she is well fed with the dandelions and grasses available to her and has not bothered my plants - the only evidence she leaves are a few small holes here and there in the yard which have had no detrimental consequence as yet. (she even leaves my strawberries alone!). - 'She's ok in my book!' ☺

It was 104 where Zuzu lives today...and she's in a cooler zone than I am !

A very foggy start to the summer this morning - even the birds are walking - LOL! I can just imagine that if it's THIS foggy up here in the hills where I live, then it's doubly foggy where Louise is bravely tending house!

Same concept, in this case an evergreen which has a root system similar to a tree with outward facing branches that reach 6'+ with 4" diameters starting at ground level, but without a typical treelike structure. Like a very stiff, heavy bush, practically impenetrable to predators. ☺

Wow - wish we were getting that, Deb. All these t-storms the past week have produced next to nothing.

We've gotten 3/4 inch over the last few days - not bad. I was just going to go out to the park, but slipped on the steps outside so am sitting with some ice on my foot. Flip flops and wet wood don't go well together. Glad I was holding the railing, which I always do as I'm always afraid of falling down those steps. Started to rain again anyways.

Wheeeee - Summer Solstice may be my very favorite day of the year!!!! It has been a perfect day for getting really dirty and getting lots of stuff done here. The day is perfect - no chain saws and no logging sounds.....just serenity amid the look of chaos. I'm happy. I'll get back to you on the time of sunset, Victor.......Gotta get back out there for some more playing.

The weather was nice today and tonight it's perfect. Had a really good day! My friend and her husband flew into the county airport where we met them, went to lunch and then showed them the Poughkeepsie waterfront. Finally a quick stroll through the grounds of FDR's home in Hyde Park before they had to depart. An unexpected and fun day! - Lynn
