Today's Weather in Your Garden - 23
Holycow, nasty hail.
Cool and breezy here.
Wow - we're getting hail now!!
Crazy weather!!!
About 1AM a weird storm came thru here. It got really windy and was knocking over cans, containers, I don't know where hubby found the kidddie pool this morning. I heard thunder in the distance but never directly overhead. I guess we got some rain because we have a puddle in one of the lawn chairs, but I never heard it.
Today is windy and 79 degrees
Now it's over. Really came down furiously. Harper, get ready! The hail was intense for a few minutes.
Overcast and strangely eerie and an odd greenish gray, but no rain or hail. 76.
I think schickenlady, has a new calling. I felt like I was watching a storm chaser on the weather channel. Hope you didn't have too much plant damage. Thanks for the blow by blow. Buggy OK?
DH just got called down to bring in an oil tanker that wasn't scheduled to dock until tomorrow. But the capt. is trying to beat the bad weather. I am not sure what that means other than tomorrow the weather is suppose to be again "squirrelly" Patti
It's 75 and sunny. I think the humidity has dropped - the Intellicast weather says it's at 53%. Nice breeze. We had rain this morning and thunder not too long ago, but it's really nice now. I see a lot of scattered showers/storms out west of here. This is such an unsettled weather pattern lately! Sorry so many of you had hail. - Lynn
Interesting that Newport NH and Lower Hudson Valley , NY were getting hail at virtually the same time. They are about 225 miles apart (Tarrytown NY to Newport, NH)
Nice shot Victor. Patti
Wow! that's big hail! We're sunny and breezy here, better put my outdoor plants under something... in case we get pelleted by those things! ☺
That is sad.Sorry about that.
It missed me entirely Victor. I'm glad too!
I expected you would have damage, Sherrie, with hail that size. One year I had most of my hostas ripped to shreds.
at work here in cambridge we had a downpour at 1:45 and another is just starting - no hail that i know of. interested to find out how things are at home. yesterday just a couple t-plants slipped off their strings.
Starting to darken toward the west again. This is after more than 1/2 hr of full sun after the hailstorm! I'm expecting snow. Bill - I read your post quickly and thought I read, '...a couple of t-implants slipped off their strings'!!!
you made me look:) with the way my fingers mis-hit the keys anything is possible. surprised you didn't ask for the pics
Lets not EVEN go THERE.! :))
Hee hee. Getting a brief shower now.
Funny day but no hail here today. Actually I got a ton done and had 2 grandkids including blueberry pancakes from scratch with frozen bberries from last year's crop (W-O-MAN). No hail as I said but it scared me to death last week-we had nickel sized hail and the flowers looked like a tossed salad and I was worried the windows would break. The garden has bounced back. And no hostas got shredded. My orchid pots were full of hail like that sleigh. I think veggies get it the worst in hail. Sposta be winds and hail SE of here now. Good luck to all in that area!!
drove into the perfect storm on the way home - lawns looked like it has snowed.
Hard rain around 5:00 for about 10 min. Lots of thunder and lightening, but now sunny. I never even turned off one of the sprinklers as I was sure it was just a big tease. It was. No hail here, but heard that there was hail on the Cape. DH got the tanker in so that means gas will jump on Thurs to 5.25 to 5.40 I think. Last two times it came in it went up 40 cents. We will be filling everything up in the morning. Patti
For regular??!
Yes for regular. It jump on June 4th after the last tanker left to $4.96 per gallon of regular at Hatch's and up by 40 cents to $4.99 at the the other stations. So DH figures it will go up another 40 cents after the tanker unloads tomorrow and he takes it out if the weather is OK. He will fill up the car and the truck. We don't have far to drive. So a tank lasts a long time for us. We are two miles from the center of town and the island is only 15 miles long and averages about 3 miles wide. Tiny place. oops, DH just said he and his Lithuanian ESL student heard a car crash in front of the house. Ambulance arriving. Be back in a few. Patti
Everything else real expensive there on the island, too?
Hope everyone's ok.
Sorry for everyone's poor weather.
People OK, Mercedes vs a Honda. Husband ran down the bike path when he heard the crash, but couldn't see it. So he jumped into the truck. It was in front of the second house down from us. I could see the police from my window, but not the cars. Apparently the Honda was really damaged. It ran into the Mercedes which was stopped to turn or sight see or something and the Honda truck ran into it going about 45 mph.
Flowerjen, everything is expensive, but wages are high, beaches free, fresh air always. Plus no commute times, very casual living and people are resourceful. Not talking about the fancy folks. But not all of the summer people are over the top. Lots of old Yankees, that look like they don't have 2 cents to their name and yet you would find them listed in Forbes mag each year.
A very, very wealthy lady and the mother of an old friend was walking the beach one morning in her old threadbare clothes and tourist women asked her about a bird on the beach. The wealthy women told her about the bird and then about Nantucket as they walked the beach for an hour or so together. When the wealthy women was in front of her waterfront home/compound she said goodbye to the tourist lady who then slipped the wealthy women a twenty dollar bill and said for her to use it to do something special for herself as a thank you for the great informative walk. The wealthy lady took the money so as not to have to explain her real situation and embarrass the tourist lady. But that is old Yankee money. Not flaunting it, nor passing any by either. Patti

I'm all for free beaches!!!
Like they always say - money goes to money! Good thing no one was hurt.
boojum, lovely picture - Gillenia?
Sounds like you're all getting some nasty weather! When we were in WV last week, had a terrific storm overnight with hail but it never made it across the mountains to Lexington, not even the rain :( Still waiting for Mother Nature to give us a break - although I am enjoying the cooler temps the past week - 81 here yesterday with a slight breeze :)
Love the tourist story.
Does anyone notice how big this page is?I have to move the lower bar to read the posts.
