Rain, thunder, rain, more thunder, rain, rain. That's it for today. My coleus in the stone planter almost got washed away. I think the cool wet days are mushing up my caladium bulbs.....I planted them when it was hot and dry and now........yuk. But I do love the cooling rain, so I'll quit whining now.......Happy early Summer, everyone. Welcome, Janet and dogs!!
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 23
It just stopped pouring here, but the thunder is rumbling. HayHay is doing much better--thanks for the concern! Janet, my niece Shelley in NH has a tri-color collie---what a love he is. Yours are beauties! No more airheads--that would be airedales--for me! Sherrie---I bought calming meds at the feed store--they work fine for my dale, who also gets nutty with noises--the pointer does not care! Oh--pouring again! My gardens are flooded!
Pooch's little helper?!
Bummer about George Carlin. He was very funny in his time. We used to listen to his LP's on a portable phonograph plugged into a lamppost in Queens. Many classic routines.
I am equally sad. I loved his books, too. And I think his bit on "stuff" is a must listen to at least once a year when I am doing spring cleaning. Inspirational. It is on YouTube. Patti
Yes, that's a great one, along with much of his earlier 'stuff'. Comparing baseball to football, the words you can't say on tv, the news reports, the 'ever notice...' ones. His observations about our behavior were hysterical.
Still just cloudy and humid here.
... Maybe if I try real hard, (with the help of an onion), I may be able to squeeze out an itsy bitsy little tear... - never liked his humor.
Temp 77.0°, wilnd SSE, Rh 58%. ☺
Anita we have a few around here, even the local gas station has a bunny!
I think the line of storms is finally moving on.I will have to see how much rain we ended up getting. Craziness!
Wow go away to work and when I come home I see so many messages I think I'm on the wrong thread.... WOW again.. yall really like to talk....LOL
Ok the collies
starting on the left,
Tri female and the mother/grandmother to the other 5.... Acacia
Next up is a Mahogony Sable/White female Blessing, (2nd daughter of Acacia) she looks funny cause she was in the process of getting up.
Next is a Cryptic Blue merle male Saint (son to Sarah)
Beside him is his litter brother Blue merle male, Saul
Then blue merle female Sarah (1st daughter of Acacia)
Last and no way least tri female Gracie, (2nd litter of Sarah) she also looks funny cause she was just getting up as well.
bye
here is the picture again
Rain finally here on Cape Ann. Sorry about flooding downpores further west, but now we can move a DL seedling and iris plants so some of the newly germinated plants can leave their seedboxes. When my father was a teenager in the early 20th century he had a collie named Loki (Norse god of mischief) her specialty was bringing home dead horses tails. Obviously horses still often used for transportation, but it was a mystery where she found the tails.

I think we're finally free and clear of the storms for the time being! It's 67 degrees and growing foggy. We had another thunderstorm come through this evening which has made this day a complete wash-out! Now we need a day to dry out, but there is more rain/thunderstorms in our forecast for tomorrow afternoon. I may have to move some of the succulents inside since the rain today actually blew in some from the east and soaked the plants up under the eaves. Normally, I'd be out there tomorrow with the hose because the rain never hits them! This has been some really crazy weather and I'm tired of it. I feel for those who received even more than we did, and also for those of you needing precip, and not receiving it. Blame it on La Nina!
- Lynn
Wow - so close, yet so far, Lynn! I've had only 1/2 inch in the past week or so.
All my rain gauges are non-functioning, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the official numbers. Whatever this system was, it was stalled over the Dutchess County area. My son spent the entire day on storm watch with the fire department. Wish I could send some of the water your way, Victor!

Edited to add:
Oh, no! It is thundering AGAIN, and I just checked the weather radar. Another storm has popped up!!! We're going to get it again!

We have actually got some rain coming down.. I could hope for it to rain all night, but it probably won't. Patti
Guys, it seems like you are getting it really bad, not much here, some here and there! good luck tonight to all, Clemen
Well, another downpour overnite. And we are sposta have more thunderstorms today.
We will have a sunny day and hopefully the nursery guys will finish the planting and installing of the water feature.
I'm going to rant now
I forgot that the owner of this place is very casual about scheduals. Two men were supposed to come yesterday at 10:30 this was after we agreed on Friday they couldn't make it and promised Monday would be it.
Well I called at 11 and he said he would send two men to decide where to plant stuff and get the work done,be there by 1:00. 2:30 they came and took ten minutes to move the acer one foot to the left and unload three Rhodies they forgot the first time they delivered everything, all of this took yen minutes,my plan was nearly perfect, and then they left saying "Dan will come first thing tomorrow morning and do the planting"
I was perfunct and said "What time, I'll hold you to that and I want the whole job complete tomorrow, this has dragged on too long"
i'm done now, stay tuned for updates.
I am glad I watered my pots yesterday... the storms missed me completely
Another day, another round of fog and rain.
Things are so wet already. But the forecasters say that it should be drying out soon ~ like tomorrow.

Like you, Lynn, we had a terrible day, which ended with weather channel giving a severe storm with hail warning for our town--sure enough, the hail was hitting the house like a Jan. blizzard! The Norway maple just outside our screened back porch was swaying--I was hoping it wouldn't go down, even though it reseeds everywhere! Today---sunny, warm, then more storms! My gardens look pitiful.
Finally an inch of rain--we really needed it. 10:30--grass needs to dry a bit so then we transplant seedlings.
Temp 76.4°, Wind NNE 13.0 mph, Rh 48%. ☺
Fall is comming! Glad I got rid of my big oversized Norway Maple. Got plenty of rain the last 2 days so I didn't have to water much, still humid, feels like a storm could happen anytime. Sunny/ Hazy skies.
Cute! We plan to get two also, but there is a very cute stray that's been coming around that we may take in. Congrats, Harp, and have fun.
Oh, they're a blast! So cute when they play around. They don't like to be held, which bothers me. I hope that'll change. They hiss at the dog, too, who is soooo gentle. I hope that'll change too.
Good luck with the stray if you take it in!
Wow - sounds drastic! Stay safe.
