Victor, thanks for the welcome back :) It's been a busy spring and I'm going to try to make an effort to visit more often and keep up with all of you! Question for you, I recently picked up C. 'Golden Shadows' - love the foliage and want to make sure it gets planted in area where the foliage will really pop, you say a few hours of AM sun only, then it's in full shade or partial shade the rest of the day? Glad to see that your 'Black Lace' is finally blooming, maybe it will now make you eat your words, I seem to remember you said you weren't impressed with the plant? I can't believe how gorgeous ours is, although it can get a little unruly and as soon as it's done blooming we'll be whacking it back hard again to control it. My plan was to add Spirea 'Ogon' to this planting so it would really stand out, but it's doing a pretty good job all by itself :) Full sun is the key with this one to keep the foliage black and shiny. I haven't had any opportunities to get into the gardens with my camera, but a friend took this one last weekend - disregard the weeds, that's next week's project!
Spring Blooms - Part 13
Wow - yours is very impressive, Debbie! I hope to eat my words. Funny though, the one of three I planted that gets the most sun has really been a laggard. The one in the photo gets about 2/3 day of sun. Spirea Ogon would be a very good color contrast, though they both have delicate foliage.
On the Golden Shadows - yes, just a few hours. I lost my first one to too much sun - about 1/2 day.
Pixie, I just looked up 'Diamonds and Pearls' Astilbe and it is not in the plant files, but I see that Hallson had, but out now of it when I googled it. I will be tracking that one down for sure. Lovely and sooooooooooooo white. Thanks, Patti
Patti...they just call it 'Diamond' here but I believe this is where I bought it this spring.

Yes, very nice. I always admired Celeste's bloomers.^_^ Love that white astilbe. Beautiful iris and rose, Deb.
And of course, the JM!
Thanks Victor.
Is that one of the new ones, Deb? I love astilbe. I really like the ones with the more compact and shiny foliage.
Yes, as I didn't have any old! Sara from Wildwood said it is very new. Hope it continues to do well, the pic wasn't the clearest.
Debilu... I love the picture of visitor and Fireball is definitely living up to it's name!
Rcn.... your black lace is amazing! How long have you had it? It looks like you got one shortly after they hit the market! Your little flags..... are those going to be particular plants? they look a little close for that. Every now and then they're in the background of my pictures, I always have to leave some orange ones out to mark sprinkler heads so the don't get stepped on. I don't like the way it looks, but it saves me a lot of time in fixing stuff. However, the blue flags... that's a good thing because those are the proposed locations of plants!
Nice variegated jacob's ladder, That's one of my favorite shade perennials!
Looks great, Dawn!
that's pretty
