Very pretty! I like the colour.
Spring Blooms - Part 13
nice pics everyone - i like the fireball jm!
This rose, I have no idea what it is...but, it is virtually indestructible. When I first got the house, this was in the front yard, and I hated it. Chainsaw, RoundUp, Brush b gone, post hole digger, saw, shovel after shovel, gasoline, 1 gallon of vinegar, alcohol, black plastic, stump rot...NOTHING, absolutely nothing would kill this rose. At one point, I had a chain around the main trunk (or so I thought) put said chain on my pick up, and drove away, ripped about 4' or so of root and trunk out. It's still here. It gets about 3' high or so, and about that around...and flowers from now until frost. Japanese beatles, not a problem, aphids, not a problem...other bugs, not a problem...and it's never had black spot...lol. The flowers are about 2" around, and pretty much look like the pic once they open for a few days to a week...does anyone have any idea? My aunt, who's uncle (and his family) owned the home, told me that he planted this rose when he was a child, so it has to be atleast 65-75 years old.
Nice, Thom. Night shots take practice. If you're using auto-focus, it is hard for it to focus in the low light. I bring a flashlight and shine it on the subject until the camera focuses.
woo-hoo!
My first ever pennyblack blooms! And then the storm came - so later for pictures...
Victor-Thanks for the tip! I really need to take a class or buy a book on photography...It's starting to spark a huge interest in me! I saw the D60, with a macro lens for $799, and wanted it right then and there...but was reminded that I still need more stone for the raised bed project...so, maybe for Christmas!
We were out staining the deck today, that's going to be a *bleeping* project, so took a break...and then, it starts to monsoon! Which is good, because in 92 degree weather, I would rather rain water the plants, than the hose!
Time for a nap, and then work!
Hope everyone is staying cool, all of your projects are going well, and your plants are blooming big time!
You all are so warm compared to me. We need a sub-forum for us "North Country" folks :)
Here's a picture of iris that came with the house (and is one of the few remaining "originals"), however all the iris was purple. This is the first I've seen white. This picture was taken 6/1, so of course by now they are on the second flower and even that is fading. I wish they lasted longer!
(and sorry for the blur)
Great irises!
Love the irises Celeste, and your grouping of pink, yellow and blue is just what I am planning with the irises I ordered from the co-op.
Rare Treat is very nice.
love em all Pixie
Pixie those flowers are outstanding!!!
Hi Evie! Yay - a Vermonter... there seems to be a shortage around here...

Thank you everyone, im glad you liked them...they are blooming like crazy this year but also a sure sign they need to be thinned soon. They also won't last long if this heat keeps up, they like it a bit cooler than today!
How the heck long is 'Batik' supposed to bloom for? I am by no means complaining, but there is another scape/stem up with about 6 more buds on it, that have NOT started to open...? Not sure if this is 'normal' or not?
excellent pictures everyone. I'm so far behind (I feel like) that I just spun on deciding comments! For the last few weeks i've been so jealous of your decent weather (been raining everyday for a couple of weeks) that I just had to post something! So, what do you all think between these two trees for my shady spot. I haven't yet decided which I want to get
First pic is of Fraxinus pen. variegatus
