Spring Blooms - Part 12

They all look great. I tried, I cant go no more.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great peonies, Allison. I'm still waiting for blooms on my herbaceous ones. I have to spray my strawberries before the rabbits get them. Here is new crape foliage.

Victor I love, love that honeysuckle!! I can't wait until mine is that big..and it's red not orange but who cares!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, are you chasing women again? Nice color combo with the tree and fence. I think I need to go out in the rain and shake my clematis and wake them up. Envy. Patti

Victor, I was just admiring Eupatorium Chocolate at the nursey tonight, it did not come home with me.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. Yes, somewhere under that honeysuckle is a real nice copper trellis!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It may not be so bad for you in your colder climate, Deb, but I would not take a chance. That and the awful grass chasmanthium, are my two nightmares.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm not that much colder than you Victor, so I think I'll just visit at the nursery!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's right - I forgot!

Hosta June and creeping jenny filling in nicely. I will divide June again and add it to other areas to cover the hideous stones.

'Festiva Maxima'--this was purchased at a box store, not sure what one...so I'm hoping it's what it's supposed to be...it's pretty!

Here is another pic of the no id Peony. I think it's one of the 'Cheddars' or 'Bowl of Cream'...just not 100% sure to actually state it clearly. This is the best that it's ever looked, big, large, open, and smells wonderful!

My personal favorite for breaking up all the green in this particular bed. I have 'Sweet Kate' (Tradescantia-sp?) it's a spiderwart. The contrast of purple and yellow is pretty! And it blooms from now until the old parsnickety father winter rolls in :-0

This rose has a story. My neighbor, she lives 3 doors down, is a foster mom, and does labrador dog rescue, was given this mini rose (from a grocery store) for Mother's Day 4 years ago. She handed it to me, while I was weeding one day, the rose was sadly wilted, and looked about dead, and she asked me if I could do something with it, that she did not want it. I stopped weeding, right where I was at, took the rose out of the pot, dug an impromptu whole, plopped it in, used some drinking water, and, well, here it is. It gets about 8-10" tall, if that, and maybe about that big around!

Lovely pics, Allison (gorgeous peonies!), Victor (like the serviceberries a lot!) and Thom (love the little adopted rose!)

Beautiful blooms today. Love the color of my Clementine Salmon Rose Columbine. It is new this year. Eleanor
p.s. Thanks for all of the support, encouragement, and advice. Didn't mean to get away from blooms on this thread. Glad we're back on track - much more soothing to the soul than family problems.

Thom, do you think this could be Festiva also?
Eleanor, sorry to hear about the distress in your family, but we all know that your deep and enduring love for Colin will eclipse the "bad stuff"
Victor, one should never overindulge in chocolate

It could be...lol. I am by no means "up" on my peonies. I know that Festiva Maxima has whitish to light pinkish petals, with some red streaking at the base of the petals...so, it could be...I know that location affects the colors a lot. Mine is, strangely enough, in full sun (for the flowers) but the plants themselves are entertwined with a contorted filbert...this is also a naturally occuring staking system...I try to entwine the peony bracts through the filbert branches!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

your bowl of cream would look really nice with my pink ones

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

Here's my NOID Peony that came with the house. Only one bloom this year (two last year) but it is planted in shade under a black walnut tree so I'm surprised it survives at all. It's great to see everyone's beautiful peonies. I can't get enough of them.

Nice shot of Beni Kawa - looking forward to when mine matures. 1/2 acre unbelievable.

nice shots everyone.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ha ha - a shoehorn helps. Actually, with the house, the lawn, the patio and the pool and pool deck, the 'garden' is probably only about half of that.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

1/2, of 1/2 acre even more unbelievable

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Actually, I will come clean and admit it - it's all in a terrarium and done with creative camera work!! Hee hee.

Dunkirk, NY(Zone 6a)

Well, they're exploding now. I'm pretty sure these are "black magic"

Hemhostaholic, I've been looking for that particular spiderwort. Does it bloom pretty much the same time as the regular green? I have lots of that and I thought the two would look really nice together.

I have no idea what there are, and I don't remember them from years past. They don't appear to have any foliage at all, and close in the afternoon. Any ideas of what they are? I have another similar mystery bulb that is shorter. I'm having deja vu... not sure if I asked this already!!! Gettin old!

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

MissF- Yes, it pretty much blooms from now until a frost bites it in the rear. There are 2 varieties that I have, and for me, the only noticeable difference is the plant height, and possibly the foliage being a bit wider...that's it though. The two that I'm aware of are: 'Sweet Kate' and 'Blue and Gold.'

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Wow, great blooms and growers everyone!!
