Looks like black dog is on point for dinner. Nice light mulch in there too. I go about an inch covering of mulch right up to my iris. Never a problem over many years. Presently I just let the iris expand. I have not worked on them in years nor sprayed them either except for a little overspray from a dwarf apple using Neem Oil.
