Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #45 visit with friends...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Starrz, the picture is beautiful. Would be nice framed--sure you have thought of that already. I'm slow today. I slept in this morning--must have been more exhausted than I thought from the other day. Not sure what I can do outside as it is already hot and humid. Can take the heat but the humidity get to me.

Ves, what a clever idea with your coffee pots and watering cans. Such creative people here.

Have I missed something or has Betty not posted lately? Hope she is okay.

Crozet, VA

What a cute thing to do with the teapots, Vicky. Thanks for sharing.

Gosh, I had several days to ready through again. I so enjoy haring what everyone is up to. It is just really busy around here recently. That is what accounts for me only checking on this thread every once in a while, rather than daily. Liz, Judy and possibly Betty, what fun you three will have together. I can imagine all the laughts that you will have. Please have lots of fun and keep us updated on your activities.

Today is Miss Emily's first birthday. There is a party for her tomorrow at her home. Sounds like a pretty good sized group will be there. I can't wait to see her. I am not sure if I told you all or not, but she began walking last week. She ought to be really getting along when I see her tomorrow after having been walking for over a week now.

John has gone to pick up Lucky who is the oldest of my dogs and is mixed collie and german shephard. He is getting his annual haircut. He looks so different without hair everywhere. I haven't done much today. No gardening at all. Hopefully tomorrow morning I will be able to get outside before it gets too warm for me. I still have loads of plants that need to go in the ground that I received at last Saturday's swap.

As if loading our car down with plants last Saturday wasn't enough, I have now committed to another swap next weekend. Oh my gosh, where will we plant everything? This will be a good visit because the swap is taking place on the Eastern Shor of Virginia. I love being around the water. Fun, fun.

Here is hoping that everyone will havea wonderful weekend.

Haven't posted for a while so thought I would bring you all up to date. Scotty has lost 9lbs this last month HOORAH! His potassium is still high but doc going to keep him on this diet for 3 months and see then again. I have been so busy trying to get 5 lots at the camper mowed and getting all my plants and seeds in. I am almost done Sorry I mean never done. My beautiful Black Lab "Blue" has come down with heart worm. I cried for two days. Have to watch him close. He may have to have those horrible treatments. Had two vets before this one and niether told me to have him blood tested for it just give him Heartguard. They are both deceased so will not say anymore. We are to have stong storms and maybe tornadoes tonight and then storms every two days for another week. I am getting depressed having to stay in a lot.I want to thank my SP again and show you all what I got!!!! Hugs BEV

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Bev..wonderful photo..isn't it fun when you get get a real great one. What are the names of your Hostas?

Thanks for the nice comments about my collage..Sharon I thought of Monet when I saw it too...or should I say "Princess" Sharon....bet it was fun being saved by your Knight in Shining Armour.

Vicki..cute idea about the tea pots ..

Hi Marion..no word about the alligator yet..LOL

Hi Gita..chipmunks used to live in my garage..they made nests of the insulation in the walls and the spruce tree cones..pulled apart. Finally my neighbour blocked the entries for me..and this year I haven't found any nests. I haven't seen so many chipmunks this year..they must have moved on..still have the squirrels though.

Jeannine..have you trained Murphy to stay out of your flower beds yet? Can you imagine two of them chasing each other around..LOL

So..I wonder where our "fearless leader" is today..it is raining here....maybe she is out shopping LOL
Waving at you Betty....and all you gals...

Oh..I wanted to show you a new basket I bought....I dug up some Creeping jenny and some Vinca to trail so it will be better in time. The Ivy geranium will look better when it blooms..and there is lavender trailing Verbena in there too.

Cheers,
Carol

Hi everyone. It's been a busy crazy week, but time to try to relax a little now. If that's possible! My son & grandson are coming in Sun for a week & I have things to get done before they come. He hs done mot of the work on this house and is going to work on the upstairs a little. His son is in for the summer so he gets to come too. Wish I could take off this week!

I'm behind on posts so am skimming. Hope everyone is ok

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

hi Cat totally understand that, company is a lot of work to prepare for.

ROSES & HANGING BASKETS

A teenage granddaughter comes downstairs for her date
with this see-through blouse on and no bra.
Her grandmother just pitched a fit, telling her not to dare go out like that!
The teenager tells her 'Loosen up Grams.
These are modern times.
You gotta let your rose buds show!' and out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes down stairs, and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on.
The teenager wants to die.
She explains to her grandmother that she has friends coming over and that it is just not appropriate....
The grandmother says, 'Loosen up, Sweetie.
If you can show off your rose buds, then I can display my hanging baskets.

Happy Gardening.
(This is too funny not to share!)

Where is our B?

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Carol, the "training" that I have resorted to for Murphy is fencing around all of my beds! It's definitely our fault as we would let him outside and leave him for a few mins vs. staying with him. Now he just grabs garden gloves and pieces of trash that he can find and wants to play keep away.

We confirmed today that Murphy's mother is not pregnant so no half sibling from momma. BUT, we are top on the list with his aunt and her litter due at the end of June. So, we'll keep our fingers crossed that there a few girls in that litter!

Another busy weekend ahead: DS baseball game; DD birthday sleepover with six 13 year old girls (UGH!!!); Sunday morning - leave early with boat and head down the James River. I don't know when laundry will get done!

Chat later!
Jeannine

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

sounds like fun chaos Jeannine.

(Cathy), MO

Hi Dawn! How cute! And I totally understand the "hanging baskets"!!!! LOL

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I used to before my breast lift and reduction but it sure is a cute joke, for more than one reason. After all it is a garden joke ha?

Crozet, VA

LOL, love the hanging basket joke Dawn. So cute. Starzz, love you hanging basket too.

Gosh, I am concerned now that everyone is asking for Betty. Who has heard from her?

I hope that everyone will enjoy their weekend.

Ruby

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Dawn-

I posted the same joke a couple of years ago on the "Jokes...." Forum, and someone must have thought it was too risque.
It got "yanked" by the Administration.....

And--if you think there are NOT people on this Forum that go complaining to Dave/Terry--someone must have, as a Post I wrote on here got yanked too. It probably deserved to be taken off, it wasn't very lind....but I will never know WHO had issues with it.....

Have shopping to do this morning. Then hopefully some more planting later. We got lots of rain and things are still drying out. But it will get done some day. LOL

DH mowed part of the lawn last night and got most of the dandelion stumpagedown. Yard looks so much better. Flowers are growing good. Will have some more color out there soon. But the lilacs and apple blossoms smell heavenly!

(Cathy), MO

Good morning all! It's cloudy here today. Looks like more rain. I'm hoping if it does, it will rain the mugginess away for a few days.

Glad you're ok Betty. Sometimes we just have to listen to our bodies & take a little time off from the running and doing.

You're right Liz. I do stay on the go. Too much so. Gotta figure a way to slow down a bit.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good morning from the sunny south! Was having difficulty most of the day with our server so I was lucky to get the post I did.

Am I relieved to here Betty was resting. It was beginning to worry me. Strange isn't it, how a group can be drawn together by one common bond and in most cases, don't know each other. but somehow long distant friendships develop. I feel like you are all my neighbors--just have to vsit via the computer--when it cooperates.

Loved the poem!! Gita, sometimes when people are so "bothered" by such minor things I just want to say "get a life". Guess that wouldn't be nice of me though.

Adore the cone shaped basket! I found one last year (haven't seen them this year) and it fit perfectly in an odd shaped piece of wood I found. Turned it into a planter--Oh my did it look good. Replanted this year but still hasn't reach it's best stage.

Dragonfly, I am sorry to hear about your lab. My son has his 2nd chocolate lab-still puppy stage-and we are all in love with it! Down here heartworm treatment is a given!!

Cat all I can say is enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. I am going over to my son's house later today to take the girls a pan of tadpoles! They are so interested in things and watching them develop. Ah the world through the eyes of a 5 and 3 year old.

Liz, swaps keeps us on our toes! Not to mention our brains active--mine needs it--still getting the cobwebs out from my dormant stage following hubby dead. Do much, much better. Without even being aware of it this group has gotten me out and motivated again.

If I missed some one, I apologize. Have a wonderful, safe weekend where ever you go or whatever you do. Betty you rest and take good care of yourself.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Storm has now passed, thank goodness, don't have to trip on Sailor as she's now calm...

Mom and Aunt Muriel picked me up for the plant sale, managed to get about 40..looks like it could start raining again at any time, if it doesn't I'll get them all planted..

Mom had brought me a gift and wouldn't let me pay for all my plants, so that was a treat...

My gardens after the rain almost seem to get greener as I watch them, just starting to come alive, another month and it will be a beautiful sight..

Yesterday afternoon I picked up 2 parcels, one from a friend in Ireland and another from our Laura - Australia..as soon as I picked up the special pal gift I had an overwhelming urge to strangle her, she knew that was coming, the gift was much to elaborate to say the least, we've talked a few times and I've agreed to accept it respecting her wish to treat me to my first 'rose gardening' book..I sit in awe looking at all the photo's, such a beautiful gift, I'll be picking up a rose, naming it after Laura and see with the help of this book to keep it thriving..

So dear Laura, thank you kindly for the book..it's one of a kind I'm sure...it's filled with wild roses, antique roses, etc.etc. so my urge to have roses will continue through your generosity...

Glenview, IL

Helloooo!

I have been reading all. LOL, I have been bonkers in busy. I had this outragelously huge project at the job front. If I wasn't tossing old material from the shelves, I was elbos deep in putting bags together. Whew what a week. But you know what the best part was? I was was in absolute glory!! Now that was a work week. I was told about the project on Tuesday, didn't get a all the the pieces until Thursday!
That is nothing unusual. So I unloaded and labeled everything Thursday Afternoon, it was 14oo lbs of material. LOL, ever pick up a kids backpack? books are heavy! was pure exhausted by time I went home. LOL, actually went to bed by 9-9:30. that is way early for me.Then Yesterday, I had 6 people come to lend a hand with the project. That is awsom as project was due by end of day. 600 bags had to be filled. so here I had people all telling me what they wanted to do and where they wanted to work. Contrevorsey with my manager over why I was working the project. It was insane! So finally I said Look, i am just helping with this project because I was asked! We were suppose to have a big wig in so she was all up in a tizzy, I was just glad to have a REAL project to organize. As far as i was concerned a project is a project and at least i was busy for the big wig who never came in! But another Best is I gave everyone something to do and we completed the project in record time! by 3 oclock Reps were loading their vans and I got out of there by 4:15! This was good!! so next week I am back to working in a snail like mode..boohoo.

On home front We are having the big graduation Party today. Woohoo!! I actually have a college bound Kid. Wow, amazing how things change in a matter of days. So we are just a little dissapointed only my brother is coming to the party, and he may not even be able to come. OH well, they are the ones missing out on her excitement. But they are also very proud too, so what can you do except still celebrate! So today I am finalizing the cleaning. By 2 everything will be done and ready for company at 3.

So now, I see, you all have been having nice times. Don't mind if I don't mention all because a weeks worth is hard to keep up with!
Betty, How are you, didn't see you post for a couple of days. Know you had some workshops. So I hope they went well. Also know you had tummy issues. Sweet lady appointment right around the corner,Keep praying it is something a simple diet change will in order. Nothing Serious.

Oh my gosh, GG, your baby robins story touched me, was glad to see you found one baby...Hope it is doing well. Nice you might get a baby sister for Murphy.

Carol, How nice you are out in the gardens. Very Pretty Merge print you made!!

Hiya Celia...I know it is old but i really enjoyed your families gardens. How are ya doing?

Marion, So glad you are excited to make a Victorian santa! I am going to make one too! LOL should be interesting. Yep had a great stroll through the Santa sleigh workshop. We did have lots of fun so I am glad you will participate in this years on line workshop. Haha, where else would we be talking about Christmas, when it isn't even summer...so cute. Oh, that was an incredible photo of the snake! Yow.

Vicky, Hi,Hi...so glad the weather is getting better up there. Lot's of rain but woohoo, the benefits of seeing all you hard work coming up!!
Pretty soon, you'll be able to stroll and smile at all the beauty. My Iris is starting to bloom, so Lovely.

Ruby, Well now, Happy Happy 1st birthday to Little Emily! So sweet. Wow, you are just the travelling woman. Glad you are having alot of fun, at all the roundup and meeting people all over DG. Hehehe, some how I think you will find homes for all the swap plants.

Speaking of meeting!!! practically jumping up and down here! I am so excited to be meeting you LIZ!! & BETTY too. OH my gosh! You promted me to go and get some Teeth!! Man, the only thing is i might be totally toothless, ROFL well at least we won't meet while i still have the Jude-o-lantern smile. Invitation is way open...Would be awsom to meet anyone in the area! So keep the date July 7-14 open for Glenview mini round-up! Woohhoo, just a "little excited" here. DH taking some time off too, so he can show you the sights...he is a great tour guide! OMG this is really a dream coming true!

Waving Hello to Bev...Storms at a bay yet?? Geeze i sure hope so. Had a wicked wind storm here the other day. Fortunaley it is suppose to be gorgeous today! So hoping you are enjoying that out your way as well.

Dawn, So glad you had a wonderful Vacation! happy anniversary again.

Shar, Awe, nice to chat with you and hear about Ethan! What a wonderful visit.

Lets see...Wonder how are you doing? sounds like you have3 been busy. Good to see you!

Seems like I amiss with some past posts here but this is getting to be a novel and i have got to make ready for guests.

OH...Gita, good info on snakes...I am sure we have them but fortunately for my nerves I never see em. As for chipmunks, not so funny story, we had one in our house for a long time..terrorized poor birdie. Ate all his food and well we ended up having to execute the stubborn little critter.

Well on that unhappy memory, i will bid you all a wonderful busy day Hope you get to enjoy your gardens!

See you on the morrow.
Big Smiles and hug to you all!
Judy

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks for taking a walk with me through some of my gardens...now out to plant, trying to decided if I should go get hair cut and style..invited to a friends birthday 'garden party' well maybe not garden today, might have to be inside.....feel more like putting my feet up, but Darlene's such a wonderful person as is her mom Mae and it's Mae's 80th..already picked up flowers for her so might go for an hour or so...

Seems everyone I know has their birthday within these few weeks..DIL Melanie was Thursday, brought her flowers, a sign for pool area which say 'life is too short to drink CHEAP wine...she loves wine...then a hand blown wine goblet that says 'cheap wine, expensive goblet' and bought her a really good bottle of wine...then on Monday is good friend Diane's 65th birthday, so must take her out...busy/busy..

Bought at a garage sale a few weeks ago a large light globe, yesterday while shopping bought 5 pkgs. of glass blobs, thought I might glue them to the globe and then fill with grout..also at garage sale a few weeks ago bought a metal stand (plant stand) and sprayed it black..this globe could sit in it and look pretty amongst the flowers..

Well I've been gabby, time to say hi to all,

Ruby, thanks for your D-mail-was very thoughtful of you, but don't worry, I'm alive and kicking, just a bit tired...imagine that little angel "Miss Emily" already walking and 1 year old..no wonder you are a proud grandma...

Liz, you know you enjoy these 'swaps' your name is almost always first on the list..

Carol, have fun with company..would imagine you are getting much the same as we are today...might give you the opportunity to sit/gab and catch up...love the yard..will make that visit..

Dawn, sounds as though you and Greg made the most of your Anniversary trip...

Vicki, you are probably the same as Carol and I are garden growth wise aren't you..it's a pleasure just to go out each morning and see what's new and how much it's grown..must pick up more miracle grow for a good dosing..

Abbisgranma...a tin of tadpoles, how much fun is that..Mom and Aunt Muriel walked the pond and there were a few frogs sitting in the flowers and yep, I've a zillion of those tadpoles as well...

Gita, you working today? did enjoy reading the joke..not sure why someone would take offense to it..lack of something to do I guess.. not really risque...lol

Shar, you'd love my new book on roses..am sure you would..especially seeing you now have so many

Bev, sure hope your 'puppy' is improving..wow, better think about taking Sailor for those shots/pills..if they don't go outside much, do you think they need it? Isn't that wonderful for Scotty..what is his ultimate goal???

Jeannine, you enjoy the boating, season is too short not to go out each opportunity you can...laundry will always get done..your weekend as always is full to the brim..let's hope Murphy does get that new sister...is a sister he wants right?

Swearing here..just wrote a long/long post to everyone and wanted to check one thing out and yep, clicked on a photo and voila..gone to cyber space..so my apologies, will get back and comment on you all, just have to run at the moment...

Enjoy the weekend..

Congratulations on your graduation. Strange feeling realizing you have a child ready for college. I think when my son and daughter graduated from college the same day was the most weird feeling for me. She was getting her Master's in Multilingual education and he was getting a double in history and Anthropology. Enjoy ever minute--it can't be duplicated!!!

Betty I really enjoyed your pictures. Guess I need to take some of my yard and post. So glad you are feeling better.

Need my second cup of coffee. Later

Stay well, Betty....great book, by the way.

Betty, I am so relieved to hear from you. Thank you for checking in and letting us know that you are okay. Rest all that you need to. I just finished making the cole slaw that I am taking to the cookout. I will be good and hungry bt the time we get there. It is a chance of rain later, but I am hoping that the party will be over by the time the rain comes.

I need to now scoot along and take a shower and get dressed. I hope that everyone is having a good Saturday.

Betty man when your yard comes alive, it comes alive. Beautiful.... That color of vibrant green and the chocolate soil does not exhist here either.

Liz got any vacation plans this year. Aren't you the one who likes to go to Death Valley?
