Today's Weather in Your Garden - 21

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great shots, WC. I don't think I've ever seen one - except on the baseball field. Here's a shot of more of the patio work. It's the large step outside the porch. The concrete was grungy and chipping. It's now covered with bluestone.

Very Cool, Victor!

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

Beautiful stone work on the risers!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

nice plan to have the flats go to the edge of the house.
Will this be a place for containers?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. I usually do have containers there, Jo Ann. I have a three step 'staircase' that the film students at work were throwing out. I put the pots on that. Also, the low 'wall' that will surround much of the patio will offer more room for containers if I want to. Generally, I don't like too many pots because of the watering. I have enough work to do.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Currently 50 degree's raining with downpours and thunder. We need this rain but they said to expect an inch. We are already -3" and the summer hasn't started...we need more than an inch!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I think we already got all the rain we're going to get - radar is clear now. Not enough.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We're supposed to get showers and t-storms today.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We're waiting, too. 62 now and not sunny but not raining either.

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

We have a few sprinkles but the radar shows we're about to get it. We need it.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

we're supposed to get Tstorms and hail.
what the hail?!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

It's supposed to be raining right now. The radar says so.
But, it must be raining somewhere else, because there's nary a drop in my gardens!

We really need the rain.

We need rain Candyce!! It has not rained here to speak of. It looks like Kansas when you dig dirt.

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

I heard NJ got it. Hubby said they had tornado watch/warning.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

It's really windy now, like it's trying to blow in a storm, but still haven't seen any water.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

We just got a few heavy drops, hoping for more, but I think it's done already.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nothing here yet. A few sprinkles before noon.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Just checked the radar again, and a small patch in Buffalo, earlier storm is up into Maine.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

We've had a few steady showers and the garden is happy.

We're about to get rocked - thunder and wind are here...

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

We got it. Thunder, wind rain, hail.... I don't think there was damage, but won't know until tomorrow since it's still rumbling and the lights are flickering. Not enough rain to help soak the plants, though. This is a fast moving set of storms.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, the worst has just passed. Very fast moving.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

90 degrees plus today. Knew I was in trouble when I went out at 8 a.m. to water orchids. Thought I'd walked into a sauna. We'll have severe afternoon storms for the next week with hot days and cooler nights bumping into each other. I am making promises to garden in the early hours that I just can't keep by afternoon. This is unusually warm for May or June.

Your photos all look beautiful. Thanks for sharing. We are having those afternoon wilts as the young foliage struggles with the hot temps.

Louise, Maypop is at an impasse. We await word for 'whose ball park are we in anyway?' The quotes are up there now as the roofing co. is recommending total replacement because of the older red metal roof. That and a solid stone chimney and the bit of damage to decks and the tree cutting and clean up...well, slow, tight and expensive.

Thunder, lightning... quite a show.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The storm was less than five minutes here but Weatherbug is saying there's more coming out east.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

There was a beautiful line of T-storms that went from Keene and ended up somewhere in CT. We are 11 miles northeast of Keene, and while we saw some great dark clouds, and felt some wind, all we received for moisture was just a few drops.

How did things fare for you, Louise and Sarah?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Temp 63.6°, wind WSW 0.1 mph, Baro 29.52↓. ☺

Periods of rain, heavy at times throughout the day, not much associated wind. Frequent lightning storm cells passing through throughout this evening, little if any rain but a nice 'light show'. ☺

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Wow looks like I missed the 60 mph winds and hail right nearby. It went southeast.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Some folks have all the luck! Maybe you can move on to IDing mystery orchids :).

It's a pretty morning outside today. One garden has been watered and the second is being watered as I write. I hate dragging hoses! Exercise, Candyce. Exercise!

Currently the skies are partly cloudy and the temperature is 61° with the wind very calm at 5 MPH. It's feeling sticky, 'cause the humidity is 70% with a dewpoint of 57°. The barometric pressure is 29.65 in. and rising.

Time to go change the hoses!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Gorgeous morning. I was out very early taking photos.

Now the temperature is 68 going to 75. For humidity it says N/A - not available. How ideal it would be if we could flip a switch to "no humidity".

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

71 and gorgeous!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

71 and gorgeous!

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

72 and gorgeous!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

60 sunny ,cloudy ,windy,Neighborhood picnic will go on anyhow.
I'm making my knockout Humus.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

70 hazy - I love it!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Funny, Lynn, because we're at 72 and gorgeous right now.

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

What a difference a day makes! There is a nice breeze keeping it very comfortable. This would be the perfect summer weather for me, but alas, the heat and humidity will be here to bring me back to reality. I'm sure we didn't get enough rain to satisfy the plants, so must see who needs a drink.
