Nanegoat66, 12 days, wow, you must have a great family or the patience of a saint. Get those hands dirty asap. Congratulations to the DS. Patti
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 21
Thank you so much!
Congratulations to the graduate!
Patti - Hubby is the saint! My family for 12 days and having to meet all of my X's(son's dad) family on top of it. I am so blessed.
I've only missed a few days, but you all have a lot of news--such sweet looking girls, Harper--they'll be best buddies! Victor---patio will be super! Mine are tiny in comparison! We did not have a frost, which is great, since 9 of my dahlias are up, & I have both iris & roses in bloom, & all my tomatoes, eggplants, & peppers planted. Today's weather will be 75 & breezy--tonight we have a retired teachers' dinner--tomorrow a dedication of a gazebo at the Prospect Library for a dear friend who died last summer. Sunday--family. I've got to get out & weed--now!
Congrads to the grad!
Graduations are always cause to celebrate! Our best to the new grad!
Nice - what's that?
That's a Rose- Breasted Grosbeak, Victor.
Thank you.
Awesome day!!! Pretty bird.
Very nice today, but too hot for me for much work. I needed a day off anyway after killing myself the past two. 76 now and very nice.
Yep, good day just for enjoying the sunshine.
Baltimore Oriole went past the window, just a dash of orange, what a thrill.
76 here, too. We had some sprinkles not too long ago - a precursor to tomorrow's weather. I'm glad to see some rain though, we are bone dry up here.
Debilu, we have this bird, but I've never seen it look so striking. Must be the background colors. Outstanding.
Nanegoat66, congrats on the BU grad. Twelve days of house guests? You deserve a healthy heap of dirt in those fingernails!
We are in the high 70's to 80's now and will have a good weekend. Random storms throughout next week will hopefully give us much needed water and make the veggies blow up.
Laurel
Deb. Excellent photo of our friend the Grosbeak. Have you noticed that each bird is colored a little differently? I mean the rose colored patch on their chests. They are almost all unique.
By the way, a few years ago one of my granddaughters mentioned that she loved those birds because they always arrived dressed to the nines for a lobster dinner - in tuxes and lobster bibs! I've always remembered that little gem.
How cute! I not only love their coloring, but their song. It's been many years since I've seen or heard one here.
Awesome patio, Victor.....you will go to any lengths to keep from weeding, huh?? LOL
Deb - love that shot of "Rose"! Aren't they gorgeous? And Candyce - that is so cute about the lobster bib!
Nanegoat - Congratulations on DS's graduation from BU....what's next for him??
Hey there, Laurel......how are things at Maypop?
It got to 80 degrees today here......I spent most of the day doing hand-to-hand combat with some overgrown oregano that has taken over more than half of my Friendship Garden.......I have ripped out about two thirds of it....those roots are tough to remove! I must make room for the paper bag full of red dahlias that a friend brought me today. I swore I'd not let myself indulge in the dahlias to save my back in the fall, but.........who can resist red dahlias??????
Rainy weekend ahead.....I doubt it will stop me from playing in the dirt. Happy weekend all!!
Our high for the day was 77 - much too hot for work in the sun so we both worked in the shade until late in the day. The tomatoes have been planted so the vegetable garden is finished and just a few hundred annuals to go and a tray of Monarda and Asters and we'll be done except for the front renovation but that's just begun.
Can't wait for bed!
Is that an oriole???
Thanks everyone. First one I saw was last spring when one crashed into the window. This one stood up to a BlueJay at the feeder and won.
Beautiful Oriole! First time I saw an Oriole was at my sister's house last weekend. She has them nesting in her tree line. She has 38 acres of woods so gets a lot of wildlife.
You are lucky Flowergen. Orioles are rare around here and shy, love the tops of tall trees. I love their song.
Forgot to say we had a beautiful rain last night and today it will shower off and on w/ tstorms in afternoon.

nice shot WC
1/4 inch of rain overnight, with a slow drizzle currently, hope it continues to add up.
Great oriole shot, WC. The sun was out an hour ago, but the clouds are rolling in now. We need the rain.
Thanks for all the good wishes on my BU grad.
Louise - Double major english/history and not sure what he wants to do next. He'll figure it out.
Victor - are there more pics of this awesome patio project?
Spent the hot day trimming hedges.
OMG Tell me you only do that once every five years.
Those are some hedges! A lot of work to keep them looking that nice, I'm sure.
This morning it's cloudy with a slight breeze. We were supposed to get rain overnight, but that didn't happen.
The forecast for today is off and on spotty rain showers with the possibility of a T-storm or two. Currently: It's cloudy, but the sun is peeking through every now and then. It's 61° already and with the winds southeasterly at 9 MPH, it feels a tad muggy outside. But the humidity is showing at just 64% with the dewpoint at 49°. The barometric pressure is 29.85 in. and falling.
We sure could use the rain.
Tell me your hubby is an enginere?or dentist
Such perfect close cropping.
My old neighbor was a dentist and everything had to have perfect edges, just like those amalgums.
DH just trimmed some type of pine hedge on Thursday, he likes them perfect - I kind of like the natural look.
Nanegoat! I love those hedges! Can your hubby come and train my hubby to cut our privet like that?? LOL!
Ha! As soon as his back heals up from this.
Lovely hedges!!
Hi everyone! Victor, I can't wait to see the finished product! WC, I love the orioles too. Here's the female that hangs out by me in the yard. Nane, I think I'd die if I had to take care of hedges like that!
Weather is whacky today, but that's good. I've been neglecting the inside to be outside!

Thanks guys, I concur with Ge1836, hangs out on the tops of trees, shy, beautiful song, etc. Mine flies a circular pattern about 100' from my house, until I entice it with the lawn sprinkler! Good shot Anita! Never seen the female before, big difference in coloration! Now I know what to look for, there's got to be some reason mine hangs around here! ☺
Temp 63.6°, wind SSW 5.3 mph, overcast W/ intermittent periods of rain.
The oriole is checking you out to see if you are "friend or foe" she will nest somewhere close as long as she doesn't feel threatened.
Lucky you.
