Harper's Birthday - Part 6!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

October, Carrie. That's the month I was born in. This has been an ongoing birthday thread for more than 8 months!

Louise, the kittens are sooooo fun! Well, except when they walk on my keyboard. That, I don't like.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I remember when we had an animal that I'm not allowed to consider now. She would walk on the piano keys when I was trying to work at it - very annoying when she played the wrong notes!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I'll say!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

I'd cut them a lot of slack as cute as they are !

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, gosh! I guess it is time when I wish Harper "Happy Birthday" again ^_^

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy birthday Harper!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Happy Canada Day, Happy Fourth of July, and Happy Birthday Harper!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy happy happy day ... and evening ... to everyone ... and Harper!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Hey, guess what? We named ONE of the cats so far. Can you believe it's been two weeks and we still haven't settled on names? Well, the boy is now Catawampus, a.k.a. Cat. Now for the girl...

Happy Birthday America!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Good choice!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'd have to go with "Miss Kitty' for the girl.....right out of the old west!

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Unless we are going for PC and then it would have to be Ms. Kitty...right out of the new age!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

(We've had ours since November and still haven't named them...)

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I remember when DD#1 was a little bitty thing (although we had named her), she had a small stuffed bear. I started marching it around and calling it "Mister Bear" and then I did a mental I-am-programming-my-daughter's-brain-oh-my-God!!! From that moment forward it became Miz Bear, or, Ms. Bear. I don't think she ever called it that - I think she was about 6 months old at the most! LOL.

Southeastern, CT(Zone 6a)

The boy and the girl, right Amy?
It's not like cats come when they're called anyway. As long as you scratch their necks and kiss those adorable little noses, they're happy! Oh yeah, and feed 'em when they follow you around crying!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

yeah - i call him "The Dude" and", wow, we call her a lot of things...

(Zone 4a)

Is it Harper's Birthday again? Has it come full circle???

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Full circle is not until October, but it's always Harper's birthday.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Harper . . .was it you that gave me the Raspberry Wine Monardia? Anyway, it's in the one of the terrace gardens, and it is a total knockout! What a fabulous plant. Thanks!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I might have brought Monarda, but then again DH might have reclaimed it before I could make good my escape. I forget. If I did, it was probably Raspberry Wine. I've seen Harper's pix, though, and hers do look particularly stunning!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yes, Michaela. I gave you the R.W. Monarda. I love it here too. So do the hummingbirds!

We have finally come up with the female cat's name. It's "Cleopatra", "Cleo" for short. So now we have "Catawampus & Cleopatra" or "Cat & Cleo"

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Waaay back when we were into the feline posts I said I'd upload a picture or two. Well, I had a brain burp with the camera and computer technology and I needed to have a talking with myself. Couldn't get anything to work. Hopefully I am cured of my stupidity (or it's in remission anyway).

Here is a picture of Romeow and Purrl at Maypop. On my side of course.

Wow, are they gorgeous, or what? Romeow is so majestic!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I love your Hawaiian shirt. Cats are nice too.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm so over cats. These have been around for more than ten years. So tired of being awakened by creatures that paw at my face and want to climb under the covers. Tired of hairballs, combing, and stinky boxes that are cleaned daily. Their natural beauty, mystery, incredible sense of balance and quirksome personalities can never supplant the feather stuffed, woven silk sofas they destroyed along with the clawed up Berber carpets and hand tied rugs. Then there are the claw "treads" that I just noticed the other day that constitute the short cut across a piece of wood furniture and up the stairs. Not that they are so busy that they can't do the whole staircase. They have to jump up and across the bottom landing on a handmade blanket chest. Let me repeat, cats are for younger folks. My goal in life is to have white furniture and carpets. The earmark that says life is not controlled by animals and kids. I might feel differently if we did not have four large dogs, two of whom are very aged and infirm. And well...it's just a dream so don't flame me.

Laurel

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

LOL, Laurel....."don't flame me".....you crack me up all the time! If anyone wants to flame you, send 'em to me! I'll speak up for you...! It's called meno-venting! LOL Or in your case, probably pre-meno-venting! I did some post-meno-venting myself today! LOL

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

What about grandchildren (sniff, sniff)? I feel very weird saying this, and it's probably just a reaction to sending DD#1 off to college next month, but I am actually looking forward to grandchildren. After about 10 - 20 years!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Grandchildren are super!!! No question about it!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

You get to give them back, right? But you have to give them back....

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

n most cases, I think you get to give them back. In my case .... I live with them!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hmmmmm. But your DD is older than mine. I'll wait and see what happens. Maybe I should volunteer for that baby shelter again . . . .

Happy Birthday, Harper! The weather is nicer today.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yes, isn't it beautiful out?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

How are the kitties doing?

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Sorry, I'm late to the party. Happy Birthday Harper!!!

Have had several cats over the years, but one we named SCAT (for our 4 boys Sam, Charles, Andy, and Taylor)

Yes, today is nicer outside, I can get Mom out on the deck for lunch.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

When I was growing up and my parents were still married, our family nickname was CHAOS, for Carrie, Helen, Austin, Owen, and Sarah. Then Nathan was born, and we became CHAOS to the Nth degree. Then the A left and we were CHOSN, or SCHON or something. We didn't need a nickname.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

CHAOS to the Nth degree. I luv it.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Jan, FOUR boys? Oye. You have my utmost admiration.

Carrie, love CHAOS to the Nth. Better your house than ours. I'm way to OCD for either of these scenarios. I'm the "who moved my cheese" type. Getting a bit better with age though.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hey, I didn't cause the chaos, in fact, I was usually trying to Contain it. That's why I had I garage band called Carrie and the Trash Cans. JK. Really though, I spent a good part of yesterday and today sorting through stuff for an upcoming Yard Sale - I feel like Carrie and the Trash Can.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Yep, FOUR with a set of twins in the middle. I had 3 in diapers at the same time. I'd hate to do that nowadays. YIKES. The youngest will be 27 next week, the twins -30, and the oldest will be 34. It was great though. Lots of fun times, especially camping in the Adirondacks every year. Always the same place - Brown Tract Pond near Raquette Lake.

We had a beagle named Reveille (cuz she woke us up very early) who also had a litter of all males, so there must have been "something" in the water at our house.

Good luck with the yard sale. I think I'd rather be hung from my fingernails. lol Some people really make out well. I would NOT be one of them.

Catchy name for a band.
