Oh! Your face cheeks!!! Ha ha ha ha... silly me. Yes, my grandmother was loaded with cultural stuff.
Carrie, not a day passes that I don't wake up from at least one off the wall, intense, psychedelic dream. I've been like this for years.
Harper's Birthday - Part 6!
I've gotten my DDIL caught up with the Adventures at Maypop now. I am howling ( no not at the moon) at all these word pictures I have in my head of bloody flesh, shaking "cheeks", bucking washing machines, dressing up in a "je ne s'ai quoi" outfit in front of the repair man, and being chased by a swarm of bees up a chimbley. Don't know if I'll get to sleep at all tonight. :)))
I am so glad I remembered my password to get on this site out here in OR. I can't imagine how much I'd have to read after aweek away. The Children's Museum was AWESOME, but they didn't have the magnet thingies you mentioned. There was a water works room, where the kids put on plastic aprons and had fun with all kinds of neat activites. There was a clinic, grocery store, cafe, building room, clay room , rock wall, zip line, etc. etc. We had a real FUN time.
Tomorrow is library time. We made a choc. pudding pie tonight.
I found Recycled Garden thanks to the NW forum and we have an appointment to see some plants tomorrow night. Apparently it is part of an animal shelter, but they sold out their plant section. However the website said that there were a few plants left, but by appt. only. Hopefully they look okay and will be suitable for the project they had planned for me. We also went on Craigslist and found some used bricks which we also have to check out..
I told them I was sorry for bringing out the HOT weather with me. Tomorrow is supposed to get to 103. ICK!!!
I am soooo glad I found DG.
DG is great, huh?
Laurel you are probably too young to remember Irma Bombeck but I do.
You have a calling for a replacement for her.
Your humour will get you thru this.
I cant remember a worse nightmare.
If I remember Erma Bombeck then surely Laurel could. The I hate to cook book?
Harper - your modesty about your Bday thread is really sweet....But, I for one like to honor your birth quite often. You are one of the neatest DG people I know! And yes......isn't DG wonderful for all of us! Oh Dear on the bloody flesh dream. I don't like having dreams like that....they knock me off-center for the day. One thing Hank and I discovered is that BP medicine can give you some really unsettling dreams if you take it late in the day.
Jo Ann - I agree with you.....Laurel is a born Erma Bombeck-type prodigy! I'll bet she does remember EB!
Laurel - I read that to be butt cheeks too! LOL Glad all of your cheeks are in fine order!
One needs at least 4 if not more cheeks, correct?
Right back atcha Louise
xoxo,
Harper
Awwww, thanks Birthday Girl! LOL
Could ya'll suggest if I should move the Maypop current events posts to the diary part of DG? I'm thinking I should do it because of my tendency to yarn spin. I do appreciate Harper's being the perfect BD hostess (happy birthday Harper), but I feel like I'm clogging the waves.
Jo Ann, are you kidding about being too old to know Erma Bombeck? I'm so old, I can barely remember hot flashes! When my mom passed I could not open a drawer, book or box without finding Erma essays. She loved Erma and Dave Barry. I'm posting one of DD's doll sculptures to show my real mood.
Carrie, the number of cheeks required is directly related to the number of dinner guests. One should have precisely four for personal use and then enough venison, pork or beef to serve company. Make sure there are enough cheeks to spread around. Can we move on to head cheese? I really love it.
Laurel
Uh oh. What's head cheese?
Nothin's going on in my life here to write about. What would we talk about if you don't write your stories here? I don't write much anyway, I like reading. If you do decide to start a new thread, will you post a link?
Yes, Laurel, please don't hide your Maypop light under a bushel basket where we can't find it easily!
I went to the CNN videos and caught Whitten's testimony about finding Big Foot. Oh Man, aren't the remaining living Big Foot/Feet pretty close to where you are??? Knowing that you are likely to be out and about, you should know that they appear to shadow you if you show up in their vicinity. One good thing that I was very relieved about is that they don't appear to be aggressive or violent, unless of course, you come across them wearing your "je ne sais quoi" suit and having a hissy fit in their presence. Please do watch yourself down there. I think an encounter with Big Feet might put you over the edge after the week you've had with Vernon and the Keeper!
I'm 9 1/2 and love Ferragamo and Blahnik. Crocs are good too. As long as BF does not try to steal my shoes, I think we can work it out.
Regarding the "je ne sais quois" comment...well I do not want to seem stuffy, so here's the true grit. Years ago, when we went to France, it was all the rage to say that. Then, when we came home, it was all the rage to say that at crocktail parties. So, We rented a house to a French couple with Nortel and I finally got up the nerve to ask, "What does 'je ne se quois' mean?" Well, the wife responded with, "I don't know". We left the couple and I said to DH, "The French really are guarded in their responses...she would not even tell me what 'je ne se quois' means. lol Well, it can mean "a certain something" and it can also mean "I don't know".
Spanish is so less complicated, in my opinion.
Laurel
He he he... those guarded French.
For all the shoes I have in my closet, the Crocs are the ones I wear day in, day out, year 'round. Also, I'm confident Big Foot won't come after my shoes! They're size 6!
I too love my Croc's
I'd do a commercial for Crocs.
Happy not-your-normal-birthday, Harper.
Thanks Cat!
That doll was a treat.
Is it Papieamachee?
I saw that Bigfoot footage on the news. Wow! Anna and I like to watch 'Ghost Hunters', and fully believe in residual hauntings, but now her DH, Gregg, has 'proof' for his srtaunch belief in 'Bigfoot'! I have never seen Gregg so glued to the TV before. Usually he's napping while in front of it.
I love Ghost Hunters!!!!!
Hope this is the last of the specks about BigFoot.
I never believed it.
Think of the industry built up in towns that have claimed to have it in their woods.
Teeshirt sales will drop,The Big Foot Resturante will close,
no more Big Foot Shakes at the drugstore, postcard with "I was here" taken in front of the sighn at the edge of town that boasts Big Foot country.
"You are leaving" BigFoot country sign will have to have new art done by the best artist in the senior class.
It boggles the mind .lol
I can't go on, such a sad day for entrepenures from all the mountineous forrested regions.
I love Ghost Hunters and Psychic Kids.
'Ghost Hunters' is must-see-TV for Wednesday nights in our house. Since watching the show I have gotten a better understanding of 'hauntings', and am no longer afraid of the orbs I occasionally see in the upstairs hallway. I have 'de-bunked' a coupple of things that were bugging us, too. So I feel quite comfortable with our 'ghosts'.
No Ghosts here but had one in my former house.
1927 Craftsmens, loved it.
First owner was a policeman who died in the line of duty.1930.
Had a robber in the police car and while the policeman was bent over, the suspect drew the policemans gun and shot him in the stomach.
The wife and kids lived in the house for several years, finally mooved to Florida.
What a sad story!
He is still in the house as I left last July.
Not harmfull but just can't leave.
Things were moved around was about all the phenom I witnessed.
I would leave papers in one spot and they would be found in another, this was when I lived alone there.
Oh, Jo Ann!
I don't think I could be as brave if I was the only one living in the house with a spirit ... even if it was a kindred spirit. Nope, I like being the brave one when there are other people around ~ LOL!
Let's wish Harper a happy birthday on her brand new birthday thread!
Go here, please ...

That is a sad, but familiar story Jo Ann. Police work is more hazardous than we can fathom.
I have the same problem with papers moving around the house. Now I have an excuse?
Candyce, I'm suspicious. It looks like the old, brown shag rug we tore out of here years ago. Besides, Fall hunting season is about to open. Where are they going to put the venison? A late news report said they will be expanding future searches to fairies and leprechauns. At least they take up less freezer space! You will have to keep me posted on this as we only get one channel, sometimes, up here.
The doll body is papier mache and the feet and hands are clay (porcelain, I believe). I once sent a series of photos to Harper (happy BD, Harper), thinking she was an art teacher. Here is another.
Now thats my kinda stuff.
Your DD is talanted.
OMG, Laurel! I hadn't even thought of the problem the finders are going to have with the freezer space. Hunting season is just around the corner.....Venison, cougars, illegal baby deer, skunks, chipmunks, squirrels, possums.......Jeez, what happens to all of this stuff now???
I'm glad your with me on this Louise. If you could become rich and famous with a freeze dried Big Foot or be enjoying venison carpaccio in February, which would you choose?
Never mind.
L
I'm a bit of a hick when it comes to venison......went to a venison dinner once as a guest of a hunting club in the Adirondacks....Hank was very nervous that I'd make a scene because of the way I feel about animals....not a big hunting fan. It was a big deal to him that we were invited, because it was at the home of a very famous Adirondacks environmentalist that he adored. I behaved myself as any well-mannered girl raised by a southern belle would do! LOL Bottom line is I don't know what carpaccio is, but if you're catering it, I'm there, Baby!!!
I think Candyce has given us a not so subtle hint to move our tuchuses to the new thread. Let's do it.
L
Hey!
I can be subtle when I want to be!
