Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

NO!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

the native columbine here range from pink to orange to red. I can send you one if you want?? Even in the pic it's really and orangy-red. But the sky makes it appear more red.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh my!
They didn't even ask permission?

It's not you being anything!! That's just plain rude of them!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

ok....I'm so glad it's not just me!!! I feel much better. Even if it's just Victor and I!!! :-p

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'd be happy with some seeds, if you'd care to part with them. Saves on postage, too. I can send a SASE around seed time if you like.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Nope, didn't ask. They told me about it afterwards and then asked where would be a good place for them to cut :-s

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

OK.... That sounds good to me with the seeds. I'm not really all that good with seeds though. But, I will sure give it a shot!!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

** sheesh ** !!!!!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

candyce. If you want a plant, I'm really good with that too. Send me a dmail in a while and remind me though please!! I'm aweful and remembering such things!! I will make a note to myself though too.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

We actually did pretty good with the seeds this year from last year's columbines. Next to clematis, columbine is my very favorite.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

ok. You all have fun today. I'm off to work for now.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I will try to find the most red columbine of the bunch and keep an I on it.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

OK. I can take a plant if that makes it easier for you.
I'm good either way.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I wouldn't let anyone pick my flowers, I don't have enough to cut as many as I'd like for the house myself. Tell them the best place to cut them is the florist!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I agree. In fact, even though I'm a little short on $$ this month I think I'll just go to the florist myself to solve the issue. I'll get a couple bunches of mixed cut flowers and the kids can arrange them however they want. Hopefully that will avoid some confrontations about the garden.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

redchic - Extremely Rude doesn't even begin to describe my reaction to the flower cutting entitlement! My goodness.....obviously not gardeners! Sounds like some real cheapskates if they expect you to provide their cemetery bouquets! Ugh. Be sure to tell us how you handle that!!

Victor - ouch on the tree peony! I always wanted one of those, but I'm giving it a second thought after hearing about your loss!

Beautiful, Victor!

Thank you, Louise.

RC ,yes I was up early to go to work. The red Rhodie is Midnight Flare. It was a last minute impulse buy, and I'm so glad I did.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Victor, nice shot of your Clem, looks like another pic for the "backlit" thread. I got one last year from the co-op, eensy beensy things. Did not survive:(

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Leaping briefly out of the past and closer to the present, centaurea montana from 5/13. The plant has gotten HUGE, considering i bought it as a rescue from HD last year.

And, anyone remember that "annual" dianthus from in front of my building that came out of a little 6 pack last summer - the one that stayed green through the winter..?

Grant Atlantis Tulips amythist!

Venu, I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one that keeps strange hours! The name midnight flare fits!

Victor your clematis pictures always throw me for a second. I'm definitely not used to seeing them from the bottom up.

Thanks for the support all on the kids cutting the garden issue! I'm really happy to know that i'm just not overly protective of my plants and them having their shapes permanently altered. I do have a cutting bed, but they won't be blooming until late Late June, they can go to town then. I'll give you an update on how it goes (i'll likely go to the flowershop myself). If they're thinking I'm stingy I my print out a few pages of this thread!

Now for some more positive notes of the day.

I really thought this photo of Rhody "Ebony Pearl" hadn't turned out. Actually, it was the only one that turned out.

I think that this is Rhody species Canescens

One of my favorite Rhody's, "Golden Gate". It always makes me think that there should be a luau and margaritas going on in the background or something.

Love the last 2, RC. I bought a kalmia from Bluestone couple years ago, it's still small, and I don't think it will bloom for a while.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

they definitely don't grow leaps and bounds for a while. That can be a good thing though. What variety did you get?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

To tell you the truth, I don't remember...shh, don't tell anyone, I'm not a very good record keeper. Maybe I should start.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

no problem... secrets safe. And..... we all have those! It probably doesn't matter unless you decide you want another one just like it!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Such beautiful photos upon which to gaze during this early morning hour!

Thank you everyone for sharing, and for growing such lovely blooms!

These tulips were pictured as very light pink, instead they are very bright pink. The shape was different too. Loose bulbs from a garden center. Not what I thought I was buying, but I still like them.
