Great pictures Jen, I need to take a road trip to N.J. I guess!!
Apple tree's are blooming....
Spring Blooms - Part 9
Beautiful, Celeste!
Thanks Victor, but to be honest..."being there" is much better than the picture. Hee hee! I could hear a constant, very loud buzzing as I was snapping the pics. The bee's were so busy they didn't even notice me.
That's the pleasant sound of this fall's yummy apples!
Wait, Celeste, did I misunderstand? This is in PA., yes Flowerjen? What kind of apples are those. Beautiful. We grow apples here in Georgia, but I know you've got us beat for great apples, hands down, up there :).
Laurel
Oh Celeste, those apple blossoms make me yearn for more property. How pretty.
Laurel, if you live east of the Mississippi (did I spell that correctly?) any destination east of the Mississippi is a short road trip. Until you actually start driving :~)
Laurel, you'll have to excuse me..it is PA. thats how often I leave Maine!!
Ahhh, I missed the "to NJ part"
I have a bunch of crabapples (wild I think) blossoming, and they're pretty, but have no scent. Boo!
I don't know when my mom planted this dwarf, purple (almost black) tulip, but it would have been a long time ago. Once it's done blooming I'm going to rescue it from all of those wild onions that have moved in. It's no bigger than 8" high and so cute!
Come on Celeste. I'm just going to mark it up to you still reeling from all those Disney World rides. We all know you get out of Maine! Maybe you need to lay over in PA more often. It's really a beautiful state!
Laurel
Shirley, please come down here and work in our garden. Your energy is sounding boundless. I am very impressed.
Laurel
Laurel, this is the first year in a long time I've had boundless energy, but now, the weather has been holding me back! I went through a lot of years with too much chronic muscular pain and fatigue and have finally found some ways to manage it and I have energy again, or maybe for he first time ever. I've been through a lot in the last couple years and I feel like I'll make up for a lot of lost time this year. The projects I have going are still endless though! Every little conquest feels really good though. Someday, maybe SOME DAY, my life will be more about maintenance and not constantly fixing stuff that has gotten out of hand!
Are the dark purple tulips Negrita maybe?
Amethyst, it does look like they could be 'negrita' and perhaps maybe mine are a wee bit darker than some of the pics due to light and soil conditions. From the pics here on negrita. it sure looks like they multiply well like mine have. I've never met a tulip I didn't like, but these are extra-special. I'm sure 'negrita' is worth a shot - I see similar tulips in many places, but I think part of what makes my fairy ring special is the grouping. They might not be as striking on their own. Or maybe I'm just partial to (and obsessed with) tree ring plantings!
Black tulips are my favourite flower, particularly Queen of Night. Unfortunately, something destroyed almost all of mine this year, leaving me with only 8 in a container, 4 in front, and one return from last year out of about 3 dozen. Sigh.
i was reading through you list of seeds - good heavens! You'll have to post pictures of your black dianthus - i have never had that one...
Pixie, yep, it's in PA but you may have to cut thru Jersey to get there.
Onewish.... I'm a little behind. But what's the yellow azalea way up there that you posted? Was that the one that you were supposed to get instead of northern lights?
Great pictures RC.
We got a 20% off promo from Wayside Garden ctr, here.Must go to new home owners.
I'm going to see if it's good towards Azaleas or a JM .
If not I'll look into more perenials.
RC I looked though my files... that one is not the one from blue stone... I picked those up from direct gardening.. all it says is Owen's Hardy Azaleas - sub zero... I planted that fall 2006... only one out of the 2 are blooming so far

Great shots, Shelly. I also love shots of water droplets. It's the reason I have Lady's Mantle.
Beautiful spring blossoms everyone!
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into each gorgeous photo ... not to mention the back-breaking work you put into each garden and plant!!
redchic is that the uki from home or office?

All very beautiful, redchic!
Sue - you are going to have some great strawberries there very soon! Love the fortress you have them planted in! LOL
I wasn't going to be tacky and mention it, but was wondering what they had done to be imprisoned like that. The fairies must be there as guards if the jail doesn't hold up. Otherwise, throw one of those stones or a concrete block at the offender!
Our garden is as fenced and guarded as this. There is not a critter from bear to vole that is not willing to share in the bounty. Gotta do what you gotta do unless you're only in it for the aesthetics.
Laurel
Laurel - LOL - I was happy to be tacky for you! LOL
