The Real Deal Thread for April Blooms

(Zone 1)

Beautiful Rose, Jan. What's her name?? Oh, I adore roses. Years ago I had more than 50 roses in our backyard! All along the entire fence. Then the lot was cleared behind us and a house built and the neighbors planted stuff that kept growing through the fence and entangling my roses ... then they planted trees that got so huge the entire yard in shade most of the day. Roses need quite a few hours of sun so I eventually lost a lot of them as I was working very long hours and didn't have the time to keep all the stuff trimmed and pulled up. Ended up pulling the remainder out and had some in containers for awhile but they ended up going by the wayside too. I had one Queen Elizabeth Rose for more than 25 years and ended up digging it up a couple of months ago and throwing it away when we were doing some landscaping. I still have two or three spindly looking roses but oh how I would love to have a rose garden again with a few dozen beauties! And, I fell in love with the Knock Out Roses a few years ago. Had a bed of them out back and some vines from the neighbors yard was taking over and her japanese plums dropping fruit that started sprouting up all in the rose bed. So, dug up the rose bed ... transplanted a few of the knock outs to another location and gave a few to my neighbor and her daughter!
