The Real Deal Thread for April Blooms
Oh Jannich, that is SO awesome!
Congratulations to you!
GREAT growing!
Kim
Jannich!! My goodness thse are all so wonderful..Did you grow those all from leaves and seeds?? That last strep Travis Fran's Breanne is the loveliest soft pink..Keep those pics a coming!!
Jannich, your pics and plants are fabulous! Now you have me wanting to try a sinningia leaf. I have never even thought about trying one. My begonias from leaf do really well but a sinningia leaf is a big deal to me!
So glad you posted those beauties and I had never heard of Travis Fran's Breanne. My foliage on my streps is not as pretty as yours. I think I zapped mine with too much fertilizer or SuperThrive.
Ditto on all the great choices from Rob's Diane! We will be wanting to see pictures as soon as they come in! ^_^ I had to go google for Fish Lips, funny name but gorgeous strep!
Ah Jan, I'm a flower grandma, Party Girl grew up nice!! Your sinns are beautiful. Thanks for the picture of Breanne, I'm getting quite a list of compact growers. You have the patience of a saint to wait a year for a leaf to grow something.
Lin is your internet up and running right today??
~Brenda
I don't think Lin is up and running. Last I heard Cedarnest was going to watch her bingo card as she is having computer problems.
When I saw Susan's cups she sent out to friends for African Violets, she gave me this wild idea. Maybe I can sell some of my 'smaller streps' and 'bloomed out violets' at the Mother's Day Sale if they have containers for them.
So I had so much fun today at all the Dollar Stores (Walmarts was too expensive as my budget allows only 1.00 and no more for containers)
Here are a few pictures I took playing with a few of the 1.00 bargains I found for the less appealing sales items for Mom's Day May 10th.
Wow ... look at all I miss when my computer slows down! I'm back up and running at almost normal speed. Don't know what the problem is ... hubby had me call and cancel the tech appointment because he couldn't get home to talk to him this afternoon. But, it seems to be almost back to normal so I don't know what was going on all day yesterday and last night.
Gail, those containers are wonderful! I wanted to go to the dollar store for something that someone else posted about on another forum recently and now can't for the life of me remember what it was. LOL. Getting old and dotty ... if I don't write it down I will never remember it!
I know you are going to have a really successful Mother's Day sale! I asked at our little local AV club about doing something like that to earn money for the club ... but apparently Florida has strict laws about selling plant material without some sort of license! It would have been so much fun too!
Lin is here..we were all worried for nothing..lol..shes watching her own card..never got her card from Kim so she is safe..LOL
Gail..I love all those pots!! Yours plants look great anyway but for a sale..in those pots... I am sure people will really be snatching them all up in a hurry!
If you are a non profit organization which we are, we are allowed to do it anytime or anywhere. For that matter, I could set up a stand on the highway and sell anything in Texas. I get all my fruit and veggies from a man who sits 5 miles down the highway from here and goes to the valley every single week of the year to get produce. He has big tent set up by his pickup.
But I really would check into the law as non profit clubs can do most anything that other people can't.
My favorite Dollar STore is the Dollar Tree as every single thing in the store is 1.00 and not even a penny more.
Next weekend I am going to see the grandchildren play soccer and attend a dance recital for one of the girls. There are so many good discount stores where I am going I can't wait. I also have to set aside time for a granddaughter who wanted nothing for her birthday but a trip here and to go shopping with Nana (me) and her mother wouldn't be allowed to go (LOL)............I emailed her tonight and told her to make a list of her favorite clothing stores.....isn't that cute.
Oh Gail .. how I envy you with those grandchildren! What joy they must give you! How old is the granddaughter who wants to go shopping with Nana? That would be so much fun ... spending an entire day with a granddaughter, shopping, having lunch, chatting ... Pure Joy!
She turned 9 in January but her schedule was so busy (plus her sibling's schedules) that she didn't get to come down here to shop. So she is coming down this summer with her family and then get to stay by herself for awhile.(but we are going shopping where she lives next weekend)
I am a doting grandmother and have to talk about them (like Brenda does). Her entire elementary school publishes a book of poetry from all grades each year. Each child in the whole school was asked to draw an imaginary picture to see whose picture would be chosen for the front cover of the hardback book of poetry. This little 9 year old drew a dinosaur playing the guitar on the moon and she won!!!!!!! Her artwork will grace the cover this year. (She just found out last week so she if flying high right now)
How cool is that! I bet she is on cloud nine! I can just picture a dinosaur sitting on the moon, playing his/her guitar! I hope you will get a copy of that book of poetry! That will be something to treasure!
And, I hope EVERY grandmother is a doting grandmother! I know I would be!
I am sure two of mine will come here this weekend if my skin doing better and my one Grandson Gunner is 1years old tomorrow....they are having his party on Sat... They are all so cool... Here is a picture of my two DD and me last week...they went to the fair and I got Lydia for the few hours they went then Nadia came again the next day to help kill nana's bad weeds...LOLOL oh and lets not for the bad bugs...
Hugs,
Susan

Susa
Diane,
Does any of your decor have room for a fish that is like a plater? If you think you may I will send a piture tomorrow...I just did not go with this group...
Susan
WOWZERS, I missed SO much last night.
Lin, I'm glad your computer is up and running! Don't worry, if you had won Bingo, I would have definitely let everyone know the situation and called Bingo for you my friend :)
Gail, those are some really cute containers! Your plants are going to fly off the table! VERY pretty :) I love that opal colored one especially. I love opal/aurora borealis......it's the gem of my birth month :)
I was imagining a dinosaur on the moon with a guitar too as I read what you wrote. Must be the cutest thing! Congratulations to her! I bet she is just thrilled about her trip to Gram's I know she just adores you, that's very obvious in her eyes. I bet the two of you are going to have a blast.
IF I can get through these teenage years *lol* maybe someday I will be blessed with grandbabies *lol*
Susan, what a wonderful picture of you and your grandkids. You sure are a young looking grammy and so pretty too :)
Jannich you are really being blessed with some beautiful blooms. Congratulations! Everything you have posted is just SO pretty.

Oooh, how did I miss Susan and her Grand's? Looks like I went to bed too early last night. Some of y'all were night owls now weren't you? Well, I was up until about 12:30 but had powered down the computers earlier.
Susan, What a great picture, one to treasure with Grandma and those two precious little girls. How old are they? Just gotta love Nadia's smile with those front teeth missing! What a sweetie! And, little Lydia ... so precious. I sure wish someone would start a business "Rent a Granny" ... I would sign up in a flash!
"Rent a Granny".. LOL...How cute...I Love that Lin..now there is a Great Idea^_^
Susan, your picture with the GC is precious. I only have one GD, Sami, who is 4. Plantlady I am glad your computer is doing better. Gail, I am going to have to go to dollar tree next week. Your plants are beautiful. I did get some 5 oz cups at the grocery store last night. I sent to Purple Sky this am for leaves of Apache Blanket, Blue Dragon, Lyon's Bunny Hop and a plant of Zima Ulybaetsia. I have been so-o-o bad!!! TEE HEE!!! I received a refund on E since someone had overcharged me on Shipping. That bought the new violets with 20 cents left over! I thought that the logic is in there somewhere! LOL.
Oh Wildsky........you have been bitten by the gessie buy........WATCH OUT NOW! Great choices and what a logical thing to do *lol*
You are just going to LOVE it!
Once you are bitten, there is no stoppin' ya :)
Welcome to the addiction :)
Kim
Oh, pictures of grandkids, I love it, they are adorable Susan .. don't get me started here. LOL
Lin you could make a fortune as a "Rent a Granny" ..... but I know you'd do it for free!!
Gail I especially liked your first container with the Silver Skies episcia in it, the flower colors will match the container color so nicely if those two stay together!
We live in a big tourist town and a coffee table book was published about it last year and my (9 years old at the time) grandson had a piece of a poem he wrote included in it! It was to raise money for the schools so lots of kids did but of course I was still very proud! So I know just how you feel with your granddaughter getting "published" with her picture. ^_^
Kim and mrsbonnie I admire you early bird folks, when I can force myself to get up real early I get so much more done!
Today is generally my day off from the grands but my DS and DIL need to go to the city for the day so I'm on duty!
~Brenda
Ok, taking a short break from mowing! Got the front done and still need to do the back and I want to trim up some gigantic tree philodendrons in the side yard and a couple of palm trees out front but I needed a water break! It's 80 degrees out but not real humid, nice breeze blowing, so it's the perfect weather for yard work!
Yep, your are correct Brenda ... If there were such a thing as "Rent A Granny" I would do it for free!
I really love looking at all these beautiful plants everyone grows! I hope to add a few sinningia's to my stands eventually ... some a bit larger than the micro mini's which I adore, but none as large as some of the Strep's I've seen! I am limited for space on my stands. I gotta find that one photo Gail and someone else posted of a Sinningia named Bolero or something .... it was Beautiful and I forgot to write down the name! The variegated foliage was really stunning!
.... Well, back to work!
Well I agree with you all that my GD's are beautiful but you all better put on the glasses and look again at me...LOL I stopped dying my hair after my last surgery as a skunk line comes in two to three weeks and was just to hard to keep up with.... NO MORE...LOL
I am trying today to catch up on sending things out like packing and sending tomorrow... HELP MEEEEEE...LOL
Ok off to sorting things...
Hugs,
Susan
