Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #40

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Wow Ruby that looks great. I can't believe you all have so much in bloom now. I'd think it was still too cold in the nights or questionable freezes.

My roses are taking their time, they have buds and some are blooming but all have a lot of buds and I hope they bloom simotaneously so I can get a pix. I have these stupid elm seeds everywhere germanating in my lasagna garden and my Muchi garden and I am so irritated with them. I may pull out some of my other seedlings while ridding myself of these darn things.

Betty I though that the birdhouse was done.

Crozet, VA

Cat, Sharran and all who thanked me for the seeds, I was glad to do it. I hadn't planned to grow any Castor Bean this year, but now that you guys will be growing them, I have decided to pot up a few to grow on my front deck.

I finally got the bare root plants in the ground or potted yesterday. I am not sure I have done the right thing with the ones that I potted. They all have the capability to grow to four and five feet tall, so I will have to either buy or build some trellises. I am also having some questions about how to keep them over the winter too, so will have to do some research and find out.

While John and I were in the yard workiing yesterday morning my brother and his wife stopped by for a visit. Even though we live close to each other, we don't see each other very often. It was a nice visit though. He has offered to mow the property in front of my house after John cuts the briars and cuts some pine trees down. That was a wonderful offer.

Sharran, the Wisteria is wonderful. Just really beautiful. How tall is the tree? Have you ever propogated any of it? and given a piece to a friend? ha-ha hint, hint. Hold on, I might be headed that direction of the country later this summer. And oh yeah.......I am thrilled to see you post, I was a bit concerned that I wasn't hearing much from you this week. Thank you for explaining what is going on with you.

Thanks to all who enjoyed my pics. I ran out of memory stick space when I took those and am having to wait for another to be shipped out by Sony. They no longer are sold in store. Thank goodness they last a good while.

I didn't get to see Emily yesterday. I was way too pooped after working in the yard. I called and hopefully they will be coming by here later today. I promised my son that I would serve him a meal if he waited until today to come. I will be fixing Kielbasa and Beans which is one of his favorites and simple for me to make.

Well, go good to see all of you. I hope that everyone will have a good Sunday. Betty, don't work too hard now honey. Everyone take care.

OMG can you believe I slept in till 8am..did wake at 4:30 and thought, 'I'm wide awake, just think of what I can accomplish' while thinking those things I dozed off into a deep sleep..what woke me up was a dream, I had been shopping and had a baby in my arms, started to walk down a dimly lit staircase and went to tuck the blanket tighter and the baby fell down all those steps and a man at the bottom said, the baby is not breathing, it's dead' and my heart stopped....now where would something like that come from..know they say your dreams relate to something you've been thinking..hmmm not I'm in thought...

Dawn, all my birhouses/feeder are finished (except for the new one - the cafe diner) but they needed to have posts dug, painted and birdhouses attached..

So I'm having coffee, need to do my hair, still wet..maybe being outside could be my 'live hairdryer' not expecting anyone so that would do me fine..watch me get company now.. anyway, still not dressed because the weather it teeter/tottering from sun to cloud so guess my wait is over, slacks will be the dress code of the day..

Shar you know I'm thinking of you..Ruby, how lovely to get the visit from you in-laws..and the offer to cut the grass...
Cat, you are a busy lady yourself...

Loved the flowers/plants in bloom..my yard is so dreary, only a little bit of greenery that is giving me thoughs of what's to come...maybe this year I'll have most of everything done and will get to sit and relax, smell the flowers and watching the birdies...that would be a first..

For some of you who know I never stop, when I was in the doctor's office and we were gabbing and laughing, I said something like, 'soon we'll both be sitting and enjoying life' and he said 'maybe I will, but you will never be found sitting, as long as I've known you-over 35 yrs. you've you never just sit...' so guess he has me down to a peg, I'll find something even if it's counting blades of grass...

Coffee now done, time to start another day..I'll be back for breaks...

(Cathy), MO

Good morning! It's supposed to be a nice day here. Birds and singing and the sun is supposed to put in an appearance for a change! It tried to peak out a little yesterday but never made it until late afternoon, 4:30 or 5. This has been a very wet spring so far.
Hope you all have a good day

Crozet, VA

Gosh Cat, we have had a dry spring. Things already look very around here. We thankfully received a wonderful overnight gentle rain and all is very wet this morning. It is also calling for showers on and off today. Suits me fine. I do begin to get a bit weary when there are too many straight days of rain and we don't see the sun for a while. My mood plummets then, but all it takes to pep me right back up is some sunshine.

Betty, has anyone ever compared you to the Tazmanian Devil from Looney Tunes? ha-ha That little guy is a lot like you it seems, always stirred up, ready to go and looking for new things to get in to. Aoom,, zoom.

Well, i just vacuumed the floor in case Emily gets down and crawls around. She is walking while holding on to things, so it won't be long before she is walking everywhere. That is when she will hopefully begin spending some more time here with me. I am really looking forward to it. She keeps a smile on my face, because of the smile on hers.

Have a good one all. I, like Betty will check in from time to time today.

Good Morning!

I have just got to tell you of my weekend this far. Starting with Thursday evening. That night, I spoke on the phone with my sister Gypsy who while we were chatting decided to book a train to come visit with me. So rightafter school Julia scooped her up. Friday night we visited for a time. I told stories of my DG adventures. By now she knows all of you as if she were reading our thread daily.

Now, I must tell, you Sataurday was a very Special Day. We woke had a morning coffee and I even made breakfast. Hhaha, got give lots of energy to work in the yard. We got to working in the yard around 11. Got a call from my nephew who travelled to San Diego CA on Monday. We had hoped he could do what he set out to to do on this coming Tuesday, however this was done yesterday, as was the only available time. You must be wondering what I am talking of, so I will tell you.

As, you know, my sister Carol was called home October 13 2006, I have mourned her loss, Now I will cry no more.
Shawn, her only son, made his travel To Ca on a train, LOLO so cute always wanted to take a train ride and so this trip was his ride.
He loved it. Anyways, He called as we were working on the yard, Raking, cleaning and just loving the day. So, in California time, 4:00 our time, He sent his mumma on her final journey home. He took photos. And being me, us, we got the fire going at 3:00, it was a cloudy type of day threatng to rain. But did not, wasn't meant to be for our tribute to her life. Everyone was notified to be home by 4 sharp. We gathered together fire rip roaring and made our offering of tobacco and shared stories of my beloved sister and other family members.
LOL, I placed a small table of her her picture and by end of night a reunion! Neat thing about the whole thing, via phone, computer and cell phone our entire family was joined together. Fires went up in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana! Now the really cool thing is Since friday evening We heard from each and every family member we smiled and laughed and had a reunion here on earth as Carol joined our family in the afterlife.
We played Native Music and danced in celebration. Had a feast, as Gypsy made a fantastic Chicken dinner and Steve went to a UFO concert at our Favorite House of Blues...We took Carol to many a concert there so I am sure He danced, rocked and Rolled to her. The kids all wore there little bear pendants and we just simply had a beatiful evening. My brother..sent photo's and we chatted all day long via cell phone!
Here is how our tribute started.
This is Carol and Bob, life partners to the bitter end.
They were killed instantly in collision on On October Friday October 13, 2006

This my sister Gypsy, she and I had rough beginnning, but we are great friends today.
She lives in Southern IL. LOL Liz, she slept right through earthrumble!

And by the end of evening, I was once again at peace. My Spiral is once again balanced.
This photo is with all my loved gone on...
Left is Juliana and her son Julian (JJ) the last photo I took. Down in lowerer Is Her son and his daughter Briana.
Then Carol and Bob, on the table is her son Shawn and Her grandson,
Then My mumma and papa Jack. Next to them is Sister Sylvia and her daughter Melissa, another last picture I took.
My dad, and picture of Sylvia's Daughter and her son. The last big photo is my Granny.

And so the reunion was complete. I wanted to have there children with them

Judy I'm so glad the trek and tribute to your sister has now been completed..know it's been on your mind for a very long time, over the months that we've spoken, you've tried to deal with your emotions, from being tender, hurt to now being the strong woman that you are..what a tribute, she now lays in her final resting place, at peace with knowing you and her family have bonded strongly and will surely look after one another...thanks for letting us share in that tribute...

Now Judy Babe, you are back with us, and I'm looking forward to our visits once again...

Ruby pictures please, don't they just bring warth to the heart..she will be spending mega time with Grandma Ruby...know you bought her gardening tools ? so you've much to teach..

Morning Cat...have you seen any growth to your wisteria..my goodness it looks like heaven in Shar's garden doesn't it..so many beautiful flowers and vines that you have that we cannot grow here because of the weather...

DS Greg called and said he was going to give me exactly 2hrs of work this morning so make my list..10 minutes later he was here..

He trimmed the brances so that he could hook up my clothes line, but Carol, I fought hard to save some of my branches for my secret room...I heard a lot of 'but Mom'...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Then he attached the 2 birdfeeders for me...that was a plus..I've now filled them with seed...now for the birdhouses...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze

Put my lighthouse up on the rocks so now over the weeks it will be country roads to find more rocks..lol

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Cutting trim for the stained door he put in a few weeks ago and his time with mom is over...just before he left I asked him if he thought I needed to power wash the house and he freaked..said 'MOM, for goodness sakes there's next weekend you know!" I didn't mean today, I meant in the near future.. so out I go and will put the screen panels on the gazebo, take the furniture that sits in it out from under back deck and enjoy...only thing on my list not done was the garden tool mailbox, but I've accomplished a few additional things so that makes up for it AND the day is now over...

Almost time for lunch, put up my feet and enjoy what I've accomplished so far...

Liz, keep thinking about your day with in-laws and the talk DH will have with Sister..let's hope she saw the light of day and will do her fair share...

Hope FIL is cutting you mega/mega glass pieces to keep you out of mischief..lol

Carol, imagine your company is gone by now, you've enjoyed your friends over and enjoying the summer weather we've had this weekend..

Shar, hope you are enjoying all those beautiful looking spring shrubs/trees/flowers in bloom..got make you smile....looking forward to reading another story...

Gita, would imagine you are working today..what a nice feeling helping all those looking for plants and see their enthusiasm...

Laura, you are sleepping soundly, know angels are watching over you...

Gilly, what's the weather like up there..kids finally able to play outside???? is it a b.b.q. day???

Well, I'd better not sit much longer or all this energy will pass...I've been making piles all morning of my raked leaves, they must be picked up but I have a flat on my wheelbarrel..wouldn't you know..so, must come up with another solution...lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Forgot Amy, so interesting to read about your work, please tell us more..hope you haven't lost us..lol..

Here's Greg, on his last chore of the day..lol

Isn't it fun to wake up to a bright shiny spring morning! I love this weaher. All mymaple trees are green, most of the rest of them too, except for some of the biggest oaks and hickories.
It is so pretty, and I am on my way out there right now.
Talk with you later...have a good day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Grab those 'glad rags/rakes' and come and give me a hand...all but done, got carried away with the raking and now with the wind coming up I have no option but to go back out and dispose of them..

Alex (girlfriend June's husband was passing by and stopped to get measurements as he's making her a picture frame like mine and I CASUALLY (LOL) mentioned my wheelbarrel had a flat and wouldn't you know off he went and fixed it, so I'm in business...

Was going to stop for lunch but the afternoon got away and I've not eaten yet (so guess I don't have to worry about 'fatty food' intake for today...but tummy is telling me it's hungry so I'll try to puddle while cooking something for supper, because I know the minute I sit down, I'm done for..how is your day going..know Shar's enjoying the most beautiful of trees..Judy - is embracing herself with all of her family and memories...

and me, I'm off for the last leg of my weekend journey..here's to Monday mornings..rest...

Had to come in to ask Ruby a question.....RUBY...do I need to tap a little hole into the castor seeds before planting? I can't remember.....HELP!!!!!!

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

morning

been a busy weekend with family and friends.... trying to make this mermaid bear and not doing too well! lol

would really like some time off but oh well! only 4 days till a day off.

all well, still have my ups and downs, just not so many...

DD doing well and has only 7 weeks to go!!

are we starting a new SP yet?

well hi ho hi ho its off to work i go.

love and hugs to all...

thankyou for thinking ofm ewhile i sleep betty, its a comfort.

xx

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad things are starting to look up for you Laura..now what are you having difficulties with in the mermaid ??? maybe one of us could help out....is your boss still being nice..let's hope so..maybe in all of the previous dealings, and of course those sheets you all had to fill out just maybe head office had a talk with her...

Lordy, I've put in about 30 hrs. of work since Friday here in the yard, still about as much to go, but now seeing my little plants and shrubs with baby leaves is giving me strength..lol

Know it's just 6pm but I've had it for today, so I'm off to have my bath, sit for 1/2 hr. if I d on't fall asleep first and TRULY relax...this old body has just said enough...

The last of it was picking up and disposing of the leaves..that completed I can relax..no sense doing all of that work only to have the wind blow it back..

I'm sure my rose bushes didn't make it..I did cut the dead stalk in hopes they might recover...know I fought Greg this morning the the lilac trees but truly they need to come down..so I went back and cut a lot of dead brush and my thought are purchasing new tress, putting them around the outer area where the lilac trees are now and when they start to mature, I'll cut the old ones down...how's that for a plan..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Garden in the front all raked..looking at the photo I've decided to go out and purchase trees as that area surely needs a facelift..if did have beautiful gardens but when I did the deck and new roof and siding last year the men just didn't think they wanted to watch for the flowers...imagine! lol

So it will give me the opportunity to redesign the front garden..

A place to sit and meditate..it's inviting me in but no time to sit right now..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze

This weekend was step #1 for my friendship garden..in a few weeks all the trees will be in leaves and I'll now see behind the shed..yuk..but in the meantime I did the cedar railing on both sides of the shed..

Now my next step will be twofold..dig up sod in front of the railings, put topsoil and start planting..then on the side of the shed once my faux window has been painted I'll also put vines and hollyhocks..I've an old wooden chair set that I will set behind the railing, then infront of the door I will do my cement/stained glass patio stones to represent each and everyone of you..so probably in July it will be totally completed and look mighty pretty for me to sit in..now this week I should take the 3 faux windows, one each side of the doors and the larger one for the side (because of the trees, and limited space on the other side you'd never see a faux window so unless I need something to do at sometime or other then I'll not put one...lol...

Guess Son #2 was talking to Son #1, and he called me and asked if I had the Foxy Lady uncovered, waxed and ready for the water....brats...don't they know to their mother that's a challenge..bad enough I already have next weekends projects lined us...lol
So, this time I really am off....

Best..having this glorious 3 days..it's not overwhelming anymore, I can see it come together....

Worse...should have gone to have my hair permed and styled..I'm look like a witch and there is not 1 curl to be seen..now I have to endure until next weekend...

What did I learn..lot's of good neighbors/friends who all seem to drop by to check up on me...Cliff yesterday twisted the wires for the fencing as my right hand is not strong enough, Darren next door for giving me HD main customer service # and within an hour I had my new screen for gazebo, Tom for having his extension out to cut the tops of the birdhouses, I thanked him but Greg had all the tools out as well, Alex for fixing my wheelbarrel soooo it's great to have friends, just wish I could have found about 10 more to help rake and dispose the leaves...oh well..can't be gready or the Lord will cross me off his list...

So I do hope you enjoyed today..I've rambled on..you can always tell when I'm more chatty..chatty Cathy should be my nickname, and that happens when I'm exhausted..so bedtime it is...

Night/night...

Unless of course the challenge is on and I go out to work on the "Foxy Lady" lol

What a beautiful day we had today. The first that was worth going out and working in. Got one flowerbed done and ready to go. Plan a few changes for it. Brushed the dog outside. Wind blew half of it away. Hope the birds like it for nests. Sprayed the weeds. Don't like doing it but if I don't the creeping charlie would take over. Gave me a chance to look over the beds. Oh yes raked the rocks into windrows in the corn garden that DH plowed there this winter. Everything is drying nice. But they say rain for the next 2 days. We will see.

Was so warm in the gh I have the door propped open. I have to go and close it soon. Did a few things in there also.

Started some pea seeds for the heck of it. Plan on starting some more. Then maybe I can have some and so can the deer! Will soon start cucumber seeds. I made pots out of newspaper. Haven't done that before so we will see how that works. No roots will be disturbed in planting.

Betty you ran circles around me this weekend. But we all have our own pace. LOL Hope you are feeling better and don't get too sore tonight.

Judy welcome back. What a wonderful weekend you are having. Not the reason but you know what I mean.

Shar beautiful wisteria. Gives a person up north hope.

Laura glad things are still getting better.

Ruby I planted 3 of the seeds. Until I know what I am doing with them I don't want to overdo it. Did your family come over for a visit? Are you still smiling. I saw the cutest little boy at the store the other day. He was just always smiling. Little curly redheaded boy.

Have to go and check supper. Running a bit late tonight.

Best working outside

Worst the day is not long enough.

learn I can still get sore!

YAAAYYYY!!!!!

MY favorite guy--Steven--- won "Oprah's Big Give" just now!!!!!!! BUT--actually--he only gets to keep $500,000 and has to "give away" the other $500,000.

The two runners up got $100 thousand dollars each...... NOT bad--except that Uncle Sam will tax that at 40%!!! SO unfair!!!!

Every bonus I have ever gotten at work has been taxed at the same level! WHAT GIVES??? WHY can't we keep what we have justifiably earned by out hard work and achievements????? OH, the greed of the Government........................40 %???????
Wonder how many coffee makers that finances in the Break Rooms in the Senate and the House???

Ugh!............Gita

It's early morning, probably you are all resting after a busy weekend..for me it's a rest day 'at work'..not sure if I have to drive in this morning on my own so up and at it just incase...look forward to gabbing with you later today..

Pacifica, CA

morning all, been working and im soooo burnt out!! have another long week left till my half day off thursday then again sunday then back to a normal work week.
so if i dont post im probably snoozing early.

betty, your yard is transforming into a work of art! i like how you painted the birdhouse posts to match! nice the boys came to help you,
now im confused.. are you putting in new sod just because? or do you have to do this all the time from the snow?
fil has almost the entire stained glass cut out didnt like my pick of red glass for the rose said it wasnt see through enough so back to the stained glass shop thursday.
dh called his sister sat night to say something and there was no one home,
told fil what i thought was right and not to take anything personal, but he mentioned something interesting that they havent heard from her for weeks he then said...
oh dont worry it wont take her long before she's in trouble again!
then mil said maby she has a new boyfriend?...
and of corse big mouth couldnt wait to put his two cents in with..
she must be running the animal shelter again taking in strays! ahhh brother and sister love, so i did start to draw the windows on the light house lost interest started to knit lost interest glued tea cups then said forget all of it will get back to when im not so tired lol

shar, your wisteria tree is just beautiful just green with envy to anyone who can get them to grow! have tried tree, and vine just must be our lousy clay soil they dont like have another vine im going to try again then thats it! the rest of the blooms are just lovely, you have been in my thoughts lately.

ruby, oh your blooms are just lovely to you will have lots of color this season how was your visit with emily bet she is getting bigger now, so cute.

vicki, what a pretty red that petunia is!! had to work yesterday and we got a email come through that scared me good! apparently someone calls claiming there from another store...
to tell the one reciving the phone call the auditors are on there way to audit the store and check the deposit, they have a badge from our affiliat store ect...
well they check the deposit and take the money! so now we have to interrogate the auditor if they arrive, but can you believe this, sounds like a inside job ! how else would someone on the outside know what we have??

gita, i hate that! they do the same thing to us! add it to our salary,
tax the heck out of it, now what they do is give three options of a gift card, guess to many people complained about the taxes

Morning Ladies - Shar, I have never pierced the beans. I always just stick them in the soil as they are. Your way might work better though. If I remember correctly, it didn't take these things very long at all to begin to sprout. Less than a week I believe. They are very interesting to watch growing, because they tend to grow so fast if getting the proper sun and water.

If all three beans work for you Vicky, that will be plenty for one year. You may like them well enough to plant more though, a person never knows, and I still have loads of them if any of you have bad luck getting these to grow, I can send more.

I canceled the visit with granddaugher on Saturday and her dad called me on Sunday and canceled. So, in the next 30 or so minutes I will be leaving here and going to visit her at her home. Betty, my memory card on my camera is full so I can't take any pictures until I receive a new memory card that I had to order. Hope it comes soon. There was a bunch of tulips that I wanted to take pictures of before they die. So, I hope the card gets here soon!!!

Well, I need to write one more email and then get a move on. I hope that everyone is having an enjoyable day. Take care ladies.

Ruby

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Ruby,

You can take the memory card out and take it to any photo center in a drug store or Wallmart, etc and they will take all the pictures off your memory card and put them on a disc. Then you can use the disc to upload your pictures....
Just because your memory card get full, you do not need to buy a new one....

Hope you are still home and see this....Gita

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning...lordy it's beautiful out there..drove myself in, just like the big girls do..lol..windows open, tunes on, almost thought I was Judy...

Gita, I've got to learn how to download my pictures on disks so it doesn't take up as much memory..will have to get that youngster of mine to teach me...

Liz, I'm glad that all h..l didn't break loose over the weekend, know you were apprehensive about it..sounds like you'll be going back to work for a break just as I am...

Suzanne is gone to meetings, the guys they're busy gabbing and me, I'm half dozing off...girlfriend Diane just called, I didn't go to Carol's (open house for decorative painting) on the weekend..she said there were quite a few pieces that she was sure I'd want to do, so I'll have to make a point in dropping in this week..Diane especially liked a muskoka chair and also a garden floor matt...both I don't really need but will register for one of them..enjoy painting with the girls from time to time..

I brought about 20 pattern books here at work to photocopy and design my garden shed panels and also my old bench needs an insert..as soon as I wake up I just might start browsing..lol..

Ruby, my seeds were not in as yet..waiting anxiously..enjoy your visit today...is there a garden there you both can play in???

Glenview, IL

Hello!
Wow, after my wonderful weekend I have today off! LOL, it is actually incredibly for a couple of reasons.
1-It's anniversay at work hahah, I made 21 years on the 21st and got the day off to boot! Neato.
2,Ok Liz, wanted to explain further that our Company has off because it's Patriots Day in Boston. Thats where our "mother House" is so the company all has a holiday. And It's the Boston Marathon which many people take part in so I guess they decided we should have off.
3 Oh gosh this day is Beautiful. So I am up early got most of the inside work done and now will venture in my gardens. Still have alot raking out in front. So that will be my focus today. I also am going to plants all the seeds, from Liz, Ruby and My Secret pal! How exciting is that.

Didn't sleep to well, but enough that I was up before the alarm went so I am good to go!

Ruby and Shar, My such lovely gardens, makes me smile to see the varieties of plant you each have. I am just now getting Daffadoils. The deer ate my tulips, chomped my bushes...man they look awful but hopefully will bounce back. I call it natural pruning.

Ruby, I am really glad you are going to visit Emily. I hope you cought Gita's message first. You just enjoy that beatiful lil girl of yours.

Shar, Love the Wisteria. I think it so cool you stuck a piece of tree in the ground and it gre to magnific Beauty. Could look at all day.
I hope you enjoyed the sunshiney day. Yep you are right it is wondereful to wake up to a gorgeous day and view. I hope your visit with your friend was good.

Liz, I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I know you had to work but being outside putter in between is much fun too! Oh my another dramatic story from the job front. Man, I hope that is just rumor or bogus mail. Better then it being true, even though a pain in the rear to deal with. So what you been working on?...Say Hi to DH, heheh, will have to give a call soon. Well, I forgot to ask neighbor for her terra cotta pots, but I am sort of not ready to that yet anyway. But it is on my Mental list! OMG...I can't beleive the price of your gas! Ours is 3.68
which I am just appalled with...

Betty, Oh my goodness, good thing you went to work today! Sounds like you could get a little rest. Wow, I am amazed at all you have accomplished this weekend. But I am also smiling at how happy you are for it. Nothing like a little Kiss to Nature to bring happiness.
Your friendship garden will be so pretty, got a nice start. Yep and I think the lighthouse looks great by the pond.

Ves, I love that you grow extra for the deer. I am going to be doing the same as it is pretty evident they are going to come and eat what they want anyway. But got to love the wildlife. So glad the weather is finnally beautiful up your way...woohooo

Ok Hello...every one, enjoy this marvelous day! I know I will, right now! getting out to do some work.
See you at break.

Glenview, IL

Betty, Cross posted with you, Now that made me smile! So cute you are.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I know, I know, you all can't be here keeping me company...you are all probably outside enjoying beautiful weather while I sit viewing the bright sky from my office window, watching workers sit at the picnic tables...ahhhh I so want to be out there with you all...(as long as you are WORKING!)

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Saturday here was beautiful!!! Got my hair done early then headed off to DS's baseball game then back home to prepare for friends coming over for a cookout. Had fun and they stayed until 9ish. Was very tired. Had to get up early Sunday morning because because we were driving down to Va Beach to surprise DH's father who was flying into town for a mtg. Woke up to pouring rain and I roll over to DH and say "can't we just do the webcam to visit with him?". We all got webcams so we can "visit" with each other and catch up. Anyway, I wish we had done that cause the rain going down was torrential! You could not see anything in front of you! Checked the radar on my Blackberry and this huge system was coming straight up from the south moving north. So it looked like we would get out of it and sure enough, around Hampton the rain stopped and the sun was trying to peak out. Got to SIL house and found out other SIL wasn't coming because her DH's aunt passed away on Friday. Anyway, FIL was surprised and we stayed there till 4:00 when I told DH we needed to hit the road. Checked the radar again and Richmond was getting nailed with storms and we were going to be driving into it. Got close to Richmond and all heck broke loose! The sky was BLACK and the rain was slamming down and it was hailing and the lightning and thunder was happening at the same time. Luckily, all of the drivers put their emergency blinkers on and went about 5 MPH until it stopped. Come to find out, it is suspected that a tornado went thru that area and cut a 4 mile path of destruction. We had joked in the car about seeing a cow go flying by like in the movie. Little did we know, one could have! Anyway, got home safe and sound and tired!

Back to work today. It's a great day if you're a duck cause the rain has not let up! I'm on the top floor of our bldg and when it was pouring, the bldg was "roaring", it was so loud! I'm sure DS's baseball will be canceled and I'm suppose to go to a garden center tonight for our school "field trip". Not sure if that's still on.

Shar, I meant to tell you your Wisteria is beautiful. I don't know what happened to mine this year. It had tons of buds last year for the first time then a frost came and killed the blooms. this year - nothing! I was so bummed. the leaves are coming out so I know it's alive. Anyway, maybe next year!

Oh well, back to work!

It's good though, I have been putting off the gardens. Still have3 small sections to go in the front. LOL it's not that I don't want to do it's getting started, then I am hooked for the season. I have a feeling I will sleep without any problems tonight!

My plants are coming up nicely. So nice to actually see them now that the winter mulch is gone.

Hello to all..
I am caught up on the posts..and I too was awwed by Sharon's wisteria tree.
Gorgeous! I have wisteria vine climbing up the Gazebo but it has only bloomed twice in 9 years..and then only a few blooms.
Thanks for thinking of me..My friend stayed over till Sunday afternoon. She helped me pull a lot of stuff out to put in the garden and to arrange the sitting areas. On Saturday afternoon three other friends came..to celebrate one of their birthdays.
We had a great time eating, laughing and telling stories.
The weather has been wonderful and I am spending as much time outside as I can. So many jobs to do.
But fun to fiddle and move things around.
I have daffodils blooming and violets. and the forsythia is about to bloom.

Betty..speaking of neighbours I had a wonderful surpise this afternoon..my young neighbour came over with a big leaf catcher pulled by a golf cart he had just bought second hand.
He cleaned up most of the leaves and apples in the Secret Garden with it. I was grinning from ear to ear..and raking furiously to put the leaves in his path as he couldn't get close to the trees and beds very well.
It looks like a garden back there now. Usually I run the lawn tractor over it all and cut it all up fine and make piles and rake and it would take days.
This was all done in a hour or so.
This morning I had to go have the usual blood work done so I was off and running from early morning and did some shopping etc..didn't return home till noon. Got lots of spray paint to spruce things up. A new hose..etc.

Yesterday afternoon I sprayed the yellow/orange striped cushions that I got with the old redwood furniture with Vinyl /fabric paint. They are burgundy now..they were just too bright for the Secret Garden.

This evening the neighbour on my other side invited me to dinner. ..home now and ready to settle down and watch Dancing with the Stars.
I am very tired but feel a great sense of accomplishment. Head filled with many jobs to do..
Still haven't heard anything about my little lawn tractor from the dealer...maybe I will phone tomorrow.

This is four of us on Sat.
