What have you bought so far?? Pt.5
You had fun OneWish--I've never been to a Christmas Tree shop, but they do have one in central CT. Sue, what did you plant? I made too many dump runs today to do any planting---now I'm dying to crawl into bed---I don't know why the body doesn't believe I'm only 39 HeeHee. Amy, sounds like you are going to have a great garden--fernleaf dill will be shorter & thicker than Mammoth--but mine dried up last summer before maturing--I always plant both, & then lots comes up by itself.
I forgot to take a photo of my plant stakes 4 for $1.00.... it's the metal pole with the ring at the top... not bad
that was actually the cheapest trip to that store... that place gets me everytime
I know, it's so easy to fill a cart up with so many cute, good deals, each item is only a few bucks, but by the time you get thru the register, it's a bit more than a few bucks. I have one w/i 5 miles of me, and do stop quite often.
Almost stopped yesterday after Home Depot. Looking for cheap pretty containers.I drove straight home.
So Proud. Jo Ann
Jo Ann, we're proud of you, too. teach us, please ;0)
My Gramppa Strobeck's finance credo primo: " if YOU DON'T HAVE IT don't SPEND IT"
I've had a good time on a small income using that.
I confess I loved credit cards when they were invented.
When I became single, women couldn't own property, couldn't apply for credit ( thats a 30 day in store account),
weren't allowed to do pretty much of anything without a "mans" permission. Thank you Germaine Greer and Betty Frieden.
I pulled a wood tick off my pooch two weeks ago... they totally creep me out
barefoot too!
ROBIN - a little late, but here's what I got from Spring Hill:
Variegated Weigela
Caramel Heuchera
Shasta Viburnum
Lewisa 'Little Plum'
Verbena 'Lanai Peach'
Columbine 'Christa Barlow'
Northern lights Grass
Zebra Mallow
Sweet William 'Rose & White'
Yellow Waxbells
Went to Oriental Garden Supply, sorry they don't mail order but if your in the area its worth while to go there.
Bought several Astilbe Country Western a coral color
Bergenia
Zebra Grass
Lace Cap Hydrangea Lemon ? varigated leaves.
Has anyone grown acidenthra (?) Peacock orchid? Do i want to? The bulbs are only $3.50 for 13 at HD and they look so pretty in the pictures...
Amy you have to dig them up in the fall....well at least I have to in zone 5. That said, I loved them, very unique and dainty looking.
Thanks!
i love the pictures... and for the price - like 25¢ each, it's worth the risk of not digging them up!
^_^
Trees are not plants?! Don't say that in my garden!
Sherrie, your DH picked some nice tree's .....and he's gonna be digging some nice (Big) holes for those nice tree's too. LOL
I'll take some land off your hands.
Nice lists of plants Sue, Jo Ann & Sherri--Amy, bulbs are fun if you have a place to store them after digging them up. JoAnn---when is the lilac festival this year? Or are they not having one? I noticed purple peeking out on one of my lilacs--hope it's nose doesn't get frostbitten!
Lilac Festival is May 9th-18th. I try to go non festival times, or weekday mornings to avoid crowds and appreciate the flowers more.
I have buds showing in my lilacs, and the buds are even starting to elongate. I think the festival might be a little late this year. In fact, I think we will go the week before.
Trying to hyperlink lilac fest.http://www.lilacfestival.com/
YAHOO I did it.
JoAnn, try leaving a space before the link

got it thanks.Debi
We should try to get together at the park - anyone close enough interested?
Cant make it this year. Have a show at my gallery.
Did quite a bit of WS this year first time at giving it a shot so I have been able to resist the temptation to buy. The only things that I have bought so far are just a couple of shrubs. My ability to resist has been getting easier each time I see more jugs with green!

So, do you all talk to your plant babies, too?
I swear that the columbine I wintersowed did MUCH better after I gave them a few encouraging words!
I got my first bulb catalog a few days ago - can't wait for the rest!
Candyce...I swore at my WS containers, several times in fact. Yesterday I went out and 3 out of 6 finally showed one or two hints of green in them. LOL
Well, Celeste, I think all that "hot air" helps, no matter if it comes out as nice or naughty!
This is my second year trying....I was fustrated as nothing was growing. The first year was a total flop and this year I was careful to follow Anita's steps to the tee. When they weren't growing I started to shout obscenities at them and it seemed to work!
That's a common approach for me - even if it doesn't work, it makes me feel better!
Yes, I guess I just needed to swear at something Victor! The turn of events the last few days has me very angry/fustrated so I took it out on the W/S jugs. I knew better than to pick up a pair of loppers at least!!
