Gita I hate tax stress. It used to make me sick from January 1st until the big day, when I was self employed. I would get sicker and sicker and feel like I wanted to pass out, even after I'd stress.
Sorry Liz, I thought it was your bear.
I got a St. Patty's Day card from Secret Pal. Thanks, it came with a confession that she had sent me the rose, towel and Moonflower seeds which are soaking.
It finally stopped blowing 1/2 way through the day and I did some more w/sowing.
Greg got my lasagna garden watering system up and running on manual and now needs to fix the antisophon so I can time it and transplant the seedlings next month or sooner. How long do you let them sit in posts before you transplant them?
I worked on my resume today and sent it to a nice friend here on Best/Worst so she could give some advice and pointers or tell me to start over. Which ever is best.
Laura I feel your sadness so much, what a precious little face your doggy had.
You know I know what that feels like, too fresh, I shed a tear for Mushi Saturday while I was watering the future site of his memorial.
Best was the wind stopping so I could garden.
Worst was the wind most of the day and all weekend.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Pt.36 Visit with Friends
Best: made big progress with family night tonight!

i was wondering if you put anything else in with the clothes package? I found out that the reason the last package took so lomg was because of the glass and then the gourd which went into quarantine for 3 months!! lol

long story lol.
ya judy dont leave us here in suspence please tell the story!
Oh...OK. Then come visit me!!! I don't have any weird relatives, though, so it would be pretty quiet.
I do have a couple of weird neighbors, would they count?
See...I Share, Nicley even.
Ohhhhh, Beautiful!!!!
He is gorgeous, and you deserve him.
Sleepless night last night, finally at 4am I fall asleep and it's time to get up so will have to gab to all when I get into work...
Judy, where's the base, I put the screws in with it as well...see the left corner has a little chip..just dab it with paint..lol
To the others, know that this gift was to have been sent in Nov. then we thought we'd meet up in Florida so he travellled along listening to Aunt Muriel all the way to Florida, then when we didn't meet, came back home again..lol so he's a traveller when not on duty ... Judy will have to dust him off as he was sitting for months and months...took a kleenex to wipe him off before putting him in the package at post office and know there were tidbits of tissue on him...and here I thought I had been organized...lol Glad you like him...should have included a note saying Merry Christmas 2008 - see how organized I am...
Gita, I'm sure the daughter will keep it as a family heirloon...I've a few things here so very sentimental to me but find the boys aren't so I've never shown them which articles are..Kyle is so who knows, might show him where they are this weekend should something happen! The glasses were always gifts to the wedding party from me..although this is my 2nd cousins daughter, I've never seen her so not sure what I'll end up doing ..
OMG Laura, I didn't even thing about a 'gourd' as being a problem...so that was why..no, the package I sent were 2 tops only...no fillers...
My secret pal should be getting hers soon then, mailed Judy's the same day...let's hope..
I'm still in my jammies, but feel gabby..will talk when I arrive at work..
One of my favorite pass times is giving and receiving gifts in the mail. I now have four large bins in bedroom closet holding gifts and shipping supplies.
Cleaning lady comes today. I am hoping that we will have the chance to get outside and do some garden clean up. I walked around the flower beds yesterday and pulled few weeds and picked up a few sticks, but still have plenty to do in order to begin welcoming the many plants who are sticking their little heads through the ground. I already have crocus, hyacinth and some sedums up and with the first two in full bloom. I love it.
I received some of the organizing supplies that I ordered last week, yesterday. I can now begin arranging some of the things that the Organizer pointed out ideas for.
I haven't mentioned anything in here yet, but I am now facing some tough decisions where my eighteen year old son is concerned. He quit his job the other day and I am not happy about it. I told him last week that if he wasn't in community college, or some other school or out working full time, that he was no longer going to be able to live here. It is way too frustrating and stressing for me to watch him do the downward spiral again. The past six months had been so nice with him being out of trouble instead of in it all the time. I am way disappointed.
My challenge will be to stick to my guns and begin making him be responsible for his poor choices. The last two years of high school for him were worse on me than him. He finally got through by getting a General Equivalency Diploma. I do not see myself having the stamina required to ride along with him during this time. I will always be here for him and hope that he leaves knowing that, but I can't do it again.
So, that is weighing heavy on my mind today.
I am sure that I will miss and grieve his moving, but better short term pain for long term gain, hopefully versus allowing him to stay here and not face the world himself. Please say an extra little prayer for guidance for my son, Tucker. Thanks everyone. Have a good day all.
Ruby

ok quick story dh lost contact with his son when he was the age of 11 it had seemed all he would call for was money or something for himself.
dh fed up said if you cant respect me to call and just say hi how are you then dont call..
and he didnt and never heard from him again.
he basically wrote him off. till 3 years ago we recieved a call in the late evening some guy asking if kenny was home dh replyed yes it is me who are you and it was his son, he said he went through a service to find him i was so excited that a reunion was on its way, a mending and now father and son could be again.
he has just been married i year, so we flew them out here they said they would be comming out broke, we did not mind omg she was the worst nightmare of my life swore worse than a sailor, spit, belched, and other things.
he was by far the laziest, from us and all the other family we sent them home with 300.00, we took them all over site seeing and with the money in their pocket still asked dh for money and to buy them their cigarettes.
mil had a family function for them, they embarrassed her and she wanted them to leave.
the last day we drove them to the airport i tracked that flight till i saw it land in nashville called dh and we celebrated never again!
all they did was cry poor mouth that there is no work in tn except the waffle house
found out they were drug users and we have no room for that in our lives they wanted to move to calif.stopped them in their tracks. for one year they called for money we gave them every excuse that we could find then it all stopped.
he went to jail for something and she called for bail, but we called the jail to find out he was released, guess they think were stupid. but that is why we dont want anything to do with them. they are truly(no pun intended) trailor trash!
hello to jeannine hope you doing good with all your garden preperations know you did alot of work.
ruby, hope your relaxing and enjoying all your acomplishments of organising great job!

Oh Ruby those kids sure can be trying until they grow up! Here's a big hug for you and you are doing the right thing.
Well it is a winter wonderland here today! It's one of those wet heavy snows. So will be slick out. Good thing I don't have to go anywhere today. Everything looks so clean and fresh. Might see if I can get some decent pictures.
No big plans for today. Just whatever I get done. Don't know when I will hear how Loose Lips days at the other store went. But will let you know.
Having my first cup of coffee. Some days it is so good and today is one of those.
Liz you have to stop having those fun weekends. I'm so jealous! NOt!
Laura so good to see you with a long post. Your Lucy was a little cutie. There are some pets that we miss for a very long time. A Mermaid Bear how cute!
Sharran you can come and clean my garage! Lets see Ruby can come and help me organize and Judy and Liz can come and do some of the crafts. Betty can come and relax. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
Weekend was very busy. Worked 7 hours sat. Then DS and GF came to spend the night. They had gone out for supper for her to meet his friends and they loved her. The DH nephew called wanting to come and visit. Last thing I wanted to do was clean house to make it look fairly good. So visited with the kids and then cleaned as much as I was going to. Got to bed at 2 in the morning and was awake at 5:30. Had to make breakfast for everyone. DH did help. So it ended up being a very busy weekend so all I did was lurk.
I'm not even going to try and catch up with everyone you all move to fast. But I did read all and enjoyed it.
Best was getting home in the beginning of the snow
Worst that it had to snow!
Learned to brain fogged to know.
Hope you all have the day you need.
vicki, lol
oh i sure like vicki's idea
judy wake up!! a party at vicki's whoo hoo
Do I book the Bear?
yes!! nothing like a group of screaming mimi's LOL
ok i'll bring the honey :)
think judy fell back asleep
Ruby, youa re so doing what is right for you and your son! One day he'll know it and respect you all the more for it..know this is about you but I'll tell you a story..
My sister Sharon has a son who in January turned 40..because she was only 15 and unmarried when she had him, this son lived off and on with my mom who spoilt him badly..then Sharon spoilt him even more when she got herself a home and job because to her she had to make up for lost time...a very nice young man, same age as my boys..all were so very close...
He married and had 2 little girls, worked for Sharon's husband (SF) and things went very well, good job, marriage, new home..wife travelled for work all over the world, mega money etc.
Sharon divorced her hubby and shortly thereafter Brian lost his job with Terry..and shortly after that his marriage broke up..so he put a guilt trip on his mother..Sharon built what I would call a mansion in the country and more room in the house than she'd ever know what to do with, so now she's feeling guilty about Brian not having a job/no marriage etc. and let's him move in...now she finds out that he's taking drugs, found a job with my nephew who pays extrememly well but never any money for mom who now has purchased a new car for him, gives him room and board, provides him half the time with gas money...she's having a nervous breakdown dealing with him, asked him to leave but won't..given him a deadline of June 1st. to get out and that will lead to a war and I believe all of this results from wanting to give him everything, make everything easier for him, not wanting to be the bad 'mom' but all that she has been able to accomplish in all this time is encouraging him to be disrespectable, obnoxious, a leach and many more attributes, why, because she loves him..but you know what, had she made him stand on his own 2 feet years ago, it would have been sink or swim...it's too late in life now to put him on the road to success..she just doesn't know where to turn..the turning should have been done in his teens, too late now...
So guess after all this rambling is YOU are doing the very best that you can do for him...you are doing it out of love!
Will be praying for you all.....
Vicki how wonderful for you to get a day of relaxation and a good coffee at the same time...roads were clear here this morning but some areas are getting freezing rain, light snow but all will turn to rain later this aft.
Just think, early Thurs. morning it will be spring....got my gardening tools out..lol - well at least I can dig little holes in the snow...
I'm so dense, I've read so many posts of winter sowing and still don't quite comprehend how it's done..so will go back and read some more...
It's so quiet here this morning, everyone at their desk working hard, me sitting playing, brought craft to do, more of those pen and ink (those that did not receive theirs as yet, I've not forgotten...if Judy can get her Christmas gift in March, then yours can't be far behind..)
Dawn, do you have your little 'doggie angel' out yet? looking forward to seeing all the work you've been doing...I'm sure your little helper will guide you in the right direction with regards to your resume...
Shar, how's the garage coming along...will Ethan be with you for Easter?
I'm thinking of checking to see what movies will be released today at Walmart..if something age appropriate is there I'll get the grandsons each a movie and a small chocolate bunny..they'll be getting far too many sweets from their parents and other grandparents..so have that to check out as well...what's the weather like in your neck of the woods Shar..are you able to garden today???
Well, know I've missed a few of you but the days not over..will be back..
Ok, ok, bags are at the door, what time do you want me there...
hey, now food for thought .....
now we know what to spend that extra refund on :)
Oh/Oh, now you've got me UNpacking my bags..think I'll wait till spring..is that ok...
Yep!
Woohoo! What are we making??
Good Morning.
So much to read this AM...Hope I can remember everything.
Coffee in Hand, Ves...
I am so pleased to hear you got a whole day to yourself and major plus to do whatever you want...I'll pick Betty and liz up and away we go. Liz, you'll need sunglasses snow will blind ya.
Betty, I have the base and screws put away. Santa, is amazing. Thank you again...LOL I must be being a good girl.
Ruby, Extremely tough decision. You know though, can't let them walk all over you. Tough Love, I think it is called. You know these kids want to to be adults at such a young age. All we can do is steer them in the right direction. We have tought them right from wrong and how to be a decent person. Age 18, Ok...So now begin their adult life. My 18 year old is still in school, She has to follow our rules, no exceptions. Until she graduates and has a job to pay for her wants and needs. Not to mention she must help with all household activities for her room and board. All we ask is she bring home a good report card and no hanky panky on her part. If I catch her doing anything wrong she is told right then and there.
She got 3 tickets last month. No job to help pay for them...So DH gave her a list of work around the house needing to be done. She grumbles, but hey you want to break rules then you pay the consequences. They have to learn these things the hard way...And we have to learn right along with them, as hard as it is, Can't break our own rules. Now, We have paid the last of insurance for her vehicle. There comes a time when "we" just can't afford to keep paying the kids way...
They have to give too...So, if making him leave is what needs to be done, at this point, OMG take a really big breath and wish him success, Let him know you will be there to help in serious need. You are not throwing him out, you are allowing him to grow up! That is what he wants and you are calling his bluff...
I am going to tell you...I DO know what thats like. Been on my own since I was 16. Started out with no job, only the clothes on my back and a garbage bag of stuff...I think every kid needs to know life is only paid to a certain amount of time.
...Ok, sorry getting off Soap box...Ruby, you will do what is right for you, your health and stress has to be first, so you can come and have a good cry And as we hug, watch your young man become a man.
So Lets go play at Vicki's...
Jeannine take a break, man you have been on the go, go. Will be real neat to see it all done, LOL but i think it is never done.
Laura, Now that is really a fun project, nice find a mermaid bear, Can't say I have everseen one.
Shar are you awake? Want to go play at Vicki's.
On the way...
Vicki - beautiful - but I'm over wanting snow now - spring has sprung down here!
Gita, Betty - I have a Kenmore sewing machine DH bought me Xmas before last. It does what I need it to do with the exception of the stupid buttonholes. My old Kenmore had a different attachment that used templates and it worked fine so it's frustrating when the problem is not me! I looked for grommet tools online yesterday and found a "plier" style and a "hammer" style. The plier style got horrible reviews so I think I will pursue the hammer one. I found one on Amazon and the tool and 24 grommets was only $17 but shipping was $12. I don't think so!! Called Lowes and they said they didn't carry the tool but they have grommets. Does that make sense? I think the guy didn't know what he was talking about so I'll have to look for myself the next time I'm in there.
When I got home yesterday, I penciled on more stripes in the bath. Still trying to find some kind of good tape that will make sharp lines when removed. Sherwin Wms didn't have it. I will probably continue to use what I have and use my mini wallpaper roller to press the edges down really good.
Got some good news last night. I decided to call Murphy's breeder "mom" and see how she was doing and just chat. Murphy will be 1 year old on the 27th. We cannot believe it's been a year. Anyway, Murphy's mom 'Brinkley' comes into season next month as will her sister Eureka. Both will be bred (by different studs) at this time. Eureka is co-owned by our breeder so she won't have two litters to take care of. Anyway, our name is on the list for a girl puppy and I am so excited! And I cannot believe we are crazy enough to do this again!! So Murphy could get a half sister or a cousin by the end of the summer!
Oh, I forgot to comment on the Dancing with the Stars from last night. There are 3 HOT male celebs that I think will go far! Mario, Cristian & Jason Taylor (mmm, mmm, good!). I think Mario has an edge over the other 2 because of his R&B music but Cristian has the latin blood and Jason is just HOT!!! Whew! I needed a cigarette after last night's show!! LOL (and I don't smoke!)
Unfortunately, I don't think Julianne Hough will get the trophy this year! Adam Corolla & Penn Jillette were stiff as boards and just not very attractive to watch. Steve Guttenburg was stiff but not as bad as the other 2. He's got charm.
Pricilla Presley had some kind of plastic surgery a couple of years ago (I think it was the same doc who did Wayne Newton!) It's a shame becuase she was so beautiful and now her lips are just so un-natural and her face looks like it's full of Botox!
I think Marlee Matlin will be fun to watch as well as Marissa Winokur from Hairspray. I think Kristi Yamaguchi will have a coreographer's edge but translating it from skating to dancing will be her challenge.
ok, that's my opinion. More after tonight's show.
J
Aww, Come on I got extra snow pants.
Woohoo, lets build a snow fort and have a good old snowball fight.
Splat, got ya!
Back at ya!
Judy, I am still searching for my bear repellant before you drag me off to Vicki's. And I put away all my winter clothes too, so can we wait awhile? Do bears come out much in summer? Wait??? Bears are supposed tohibernate in winter...what are those things doing out this time of year????
How about we just meet up in KY, OK ?......and Ves, please leave your bears at home.
I am waiting for my helper guy to get her to help me finish the garage. Helper guy is not very dependable, I think. But I can't lift a lot of the junk that needs to be moved, and I haven't found anyone else to help.
It is drizzling, but not so cold.
Ruby, just hang in there, you are doing the right thing.
GG....can't wait for pictures, both inside and out. I have a lot of luck with the blue painter's tape and my small paint roller. Are you using the blue??
OK, every body, get to work.....will be back to check on the rest of you.
Judy, Liz...Betty...Behave.
Jeannine, guess I watched the first few and thought they were terrible, then June came in for a short visit then I just gave up..did watch Mario though..I'd say he does have an edge..will watch tonight inbetween t.v. bingo..lol...got to win those bucks so I can take 2 weeks off and go tramping with my gps and visit you gals..lol
OMG another Murphy...give up gardening save money for the new puppy!
As for your taping..will tell you a 'secret' now she tells me you say..lol...when I'm doing a project that involves taping in my decorative painting, I purchase a small container of glaze medium, I give a quick brush of glazing on part of the tape and on the wall portion where I'll be painting..let it dry and paint..that way the paint cannot seep underneath the tape as it's sealed...
What? Won't Aunt Betts stinky stuff do the trick?
...Aww well i am going to play in the snow...Ves Don't you think Liz is in for a big treat...Woosh, I got a snow sled too.
And betty can kick back while i make liz pull sled! heheheh...
So Beautiful Ves, thanks, having fun...Hahah, splat again.
Betty, that will work on wood, but will it work on wallboard?
yes, have used it...
when you give a lick and a slip to it on the tape, you know it won't be visable because you'll be removing the tape, then where you've overlapped the glaze on the part of the stripe, you know it's being covered by your colored paint...works well..
