What was the first record/single you ever bought?

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

I guess it's better to have a song stuck in your head than an overdue mortgage payment or something just as awful. If I have a song stuck in my head it must mean I'm not worrying about anything, or upset about some stupid thing somebody said or did to me today.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Ha, now THAT is a good way of looking at it.

Or are you trying to tell me my head is empty and that is why there is room for the songs to rattle around. LOL
I am thinking the latter is probably true...about me anyway.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

pastime - I often find myself annoyed with things people did or said and gardening is a great release as I cut off the tops of spent plants and imagine it's the heads I'd like to see rolling.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

lol! Pirl, I love that idea, I need to go deadhead my ex..... :o)

There are plenty of songs that get stuck in my head when I get upset about someone, hmm... that newer country song about the girl keying the paint on the cheating guys truck....

'I dug my key in to the side of his pretty lil souped up ride, carved my name into his leather seats...."

Lol! Never would act on it, just cheers me up to sing it in my head :o)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

That sounds like a joy to think about.

(Zone 7a)

"I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights..." Yup, love that one.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

slashed a hole in all four tires! ;OD

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

I don't "do" country music.
That one sounds like the Alana Moraset (sp) of country though. Too funny.

(Zone 7a)

"Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats!"

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

I like the song by Macy Grey, "You Finally Made Me Happy". In the song she gets rid of the bum! I downloaded it for my daughter so she can listen to it whenever she gets sympathetic towards her ex-bum! Don't want that jerk to ever slip back into her life.

(Zone 7a)

Oh, I like that one, too! ☺

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

There's an old one by Sinatra. Part of it says, "I'm doing very well now, you can go to **** now..."

Love it!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

lol, another country one (sorry!)

"I cant even get the blues no more, I toss and turn.....and then I fall asleep!"

This one was stuck in my head for years after I left my XH.... I still find myself humming it every once in a while :o)

Santa Fe, NM

I've been lurking and laughing. Break-up songs are usually good. For country I like Lucinda Williams. Always like Johnny Cash. And the best was Patsy Cline.

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

I love Patsy Cline, especially 'Crazy'

(Zone 7a)

Oh, Patsy...she left us too soon.

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

tossing and turning was the name of a great oldies song

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Bobby Lewis - Tossing And Turning Lyrics

Baby,
Baby,
You did something to me.

I couldn't sleep at all last night,
Just a-thinking of you.
Baby things weren't right.
Well I was tossing and turnin',
Turnin' and tossing,
Tossing and turnin' all night.

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

you are my kind of girl. thanks

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Don't let your wife know!

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

Claremore, OK(Zone 6a)

Does anyone remember a rock-n-roll group called "Wes Reynolds and the Houserockers" out of the Okla. City area back in like 1958
and in the early 1960's ?

They used to play lots of 'Sock-Hops' etc. They were one of the hottest things going around there for years.

I guess that original vintage Rock-n-Roll never goes out, he still has a band and they're still playing. Baby Boomers rock on !!!!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Johnny Cash A Boy Named Sue!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

You know Dori, that explains alot about you.
LOL

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

you really think so!?!
My older sis hated the song-so I had to have it! >:-)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Speaking of music, yesterday was the 50th anniversary of Elvis joining the Army. Boy, do I ever feel ancient!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

OMG!! My sister cried!!

Then he came home with a wife, and she REALLY cried. :))

Suzy

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I cried. My friends cried! All that beautiful hair was shaved off! Horrors!

Priscilla was so beautiful but I understand time and plastic surgery have not been kind to her though I haven't seen the new face. We teenagers were all insanely jealous of her.

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

Now they are talking about building an Elvis Casino in LosVegas.

(Zone 7a)

I'd go there!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Heartbreak Hotel?

(Zone 7a)

ROTFLOL

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

I haven't a clue but I can remember my Mother giving me a Sammy Davis Jr. album, The Candy Man. This had to be around 1971 or 72 so I would have been at most 6. I knew all the words and loved it...what can I say I was a strange kid.

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

i saw sammy davis jr. perform in vegas while on my honeymoon. his opening act was lola filona (sp). did you know that he did great impressions of other people. i have an albumn of his where he does about 6 different voices and he does them very well.

(Zone 7a)

Wow, Herbie, I didn't know that about Sammie. What's the name of the album?

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

that will take me a hwile to find. it's downstairs in the base inside a trunk that i used when i left the navy. i am pretty sure its a two albumn type but i will get down there as soon as i can.

(Zone 7a)

Oooooo! That's a lot of trouble. I can search online. Don't go to all of that.

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

its no problem. i will get it

(Zone 7a)

Okay. If you say so. Thanks!

Newport News, VA
