What was the first record/single you ever bought?

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Yep Herbie must have been country is why I quit listening to her I knew it was one of those, her earlier records didn't sound like country, I don't care for country :)

Happy belated birthday oneanjl :) I saw your name on the list yesterday and forgot to say anything on here, sorry, hope it was a good one!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

I did have a great day (now that its finally over and everyone stopped the 'old age jokes!' lol.

Whats this about not liking COUNTRY?! I was country, when country wasnt cool! As a teen I would listen to all the 'cool' music when I was around my friends, but when I was alone....all country! lol! Now, all my friends listen to country and I listen to everything else! lol!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Happy birthday oneanjl. Hope it was a good one.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

That country they had out when I was a kid was that crying and whining country just turned my stomach lol We used to have fish frys in the summer and OMG the singing of the country singers there would just send me to the stars, really turned me off of country and never have liked it since although they do have a few pretty ones today I still can't get into them.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Happy belated birthday oneanjl, glad it was great. I am sorry but I don't like country music either, blech. Not fond of Donny Osmond either.
What is worse and I will get hit for this one, I never liked Elvis either. (ducking my head)

Loved and still love the rock and roll, some of the alternative music, but not much of the new stuff. Probably Pink Floyd is still my favorite music of all time. (Led Zepplin is second)

(Zone 7a)

It's not for everyone, and neither is rap or jazz. I like it but not all the time. I love a varied mix.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

lol! I loved pink floyd! when I ws a teen, my friend and I painted her bedroom wall black and used neon pink to pain bricks on the wall! Now, as an adult... I feel sorry for the parents who had to repaint that wall later! lol! I cant imagine any primer on the market will cover black and non pink paint! lol!
I liked elvis when I was a kid, but later- my ex husband was really into elvis and would sing elvis songs ALL THE TIME! (really badly) and now, I just avoid that music all together! lol!

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

happy birthdday to you. country rules

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I didn't see anyone post they didn't like country - must have missed it. I like some country. I like all kinds of music. I listen to whatever I am in the mood for. Well, except Rap. I don't like rap. Oh yeah, I don't like Opera either. I like classical but I don't like opera.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

what about that rapping cowboy?! I cant remember his name, but he toured with toby keith a few years ago....

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Kid Rock?

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

got me.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Kid rock has that rap song "I'm a cow-boy-bay-bee"
I am not a rap fan either.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

no no, not kid rock... it was cowboy troy. I remembered as soon as I saw the kid rock above. lol! I only saw Cowboy Troy once, when he opened for Toby Keith a few years ago, he just had some funny songs - I cant stand rap !

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I don't consider Kid Rock "rap", although that particular song, "Cowboy" is a little rappy. I like that song! (don't beat me with rulers!)

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

beat you with rulers?! Never! maybe with broken kid rock cds, but never with rulers! LOL!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

ouch! those make you bleed!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

I kind of like that song too. But I won't admit it to my family.

(Zone 7a)

Nuns are pretty handy with a ruler. WHACK!!!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

lol! ouch! I FELT that one!

Okay, for some reason I had that whitney houston song stuck in my head all day long... you know the 'I believe the children are our future...teach them well and let them lead the way...'

Quick! someone, give me a new song to sing in my head before I go crazy! Just no elvis please! LOL!

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

sunshine on my sholder by john denver

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

The Sunshine song sticks in my head too, but I have had Stevie Nicks "white wing dove" stuck in my head for 3 days. I am about to go batty.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Last summer I suffered with having a song in my head that simply wouldn't vacate: On the road to Mandalay, where the flying fishes play...

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

Mary J. Blige's song 'Work That' has been stuck in my head. It's a little rappy, but I like it. It was used on a iPod commercial. It makes you want to dance. I also like Peter Frampton's talking guitar long version of 'Do You Feel Like I Do'.

Belle Plaine, KS

ELO's *Hold on Tight to Your Dreams* has become my new mantra, ever since *I heard it again* on that car commercial. Love the intro, makes me smile every time. And reminds me to *hold on tight* through it all☺☺☺

(Zone 7a)

I currently have "Secret Agent Man" in mine. It won't go away.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Did you mention Secret agent man before somewhere?
I remember that being stuck in my head for a few days after just reading it.
A relief if it gets rid of stevie nicks. I like the song but enough is enough.

(Zone 7a)

That song is a favorite of my brain. I did mention it before. DH starts singing "Oh...Sweetpea...come on and dance with me..."

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

That is a cute one. Those old songs just make you smile.

Before all the snow hit, I had California dreaming in my head for a couple weeks. Every time I went for a walk in the woods and looked around this popped into my head.
"all the leaves are brown, and the skies are gray"

(Zone 7a)

Yes, that's a common one, too. lol Also, 'Lollipop'. Ba-da-da-duh...

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I have had the weirdest one in my head

Trailor For Sale or Rent
Roooooom to let, 50 cent

I'm a maaaaaaaaaaaaan of means
By no means

King of the Road.

LOL!!! I have no idea where I heard it or how I thought of it, I was like 6 years old when it came out, and I don't believe I have heard it recently.

We should start a new thread on the weird songs that are stuck in our heads. We could call it "What weird song is stuck today" or "How I became crazy".

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Not sure which was first for me - was either 'Don't look back' by Boston or 'Barracuda' by Heart

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Ooooooh Barracuda!
I haven't heard that one in a long time.

Ok, got a new song stuck.
"...King of the road"

Maybe I should get an ipod. This one in my brain seems to be broken!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

ELO "Blue Skies" - wonderful song to start your day with!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh I like to start my day with that 'put on a happy face' song. I have the cd in my car and listen to that song just before I pull into work.

okay, I work next door to a daycare....the lil kids were going for a walk again today and walked by my office singing "john jacob jingleheimer schmidt....thats my name too...whenever I go out, the people always shout....john..... etc etc..."

so needless to say, THAT song was stuck in my head (and that one always hangs around for a long long time-sorry folks!) until I read this post, now its been replaced with King of the Road... which is better.... at least its not a preschool song! LOL!

Please DONT ANYONE EVEN MENTION THAT BARNEY SONG!

(Zone 7a)

I love you, you love m...No, wait...you said, DON'T mention the song? (Sorry, I had to.) ☺

How about the music they use on the Vonage commercials? The band is The 5, 6, 7, 8's. Who hoo, hoo hoo hoo...

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

ouch! you're killing me! I must take something to keep me from going insane...dh is now walking around the house singing trailer for sale or rent.... ! now I have both songs stuck in my head! LOL!

Rutland , MA(Zone 5b)

there is a song title "cool woman in a black dress" its by the hollies. whenever that song is played i listen real goodand still i can only make out about 5 words.
