Brug bouquets and bubble gum cigars coming your way proud mama! Congratulations It must be very satisfying and rewarding! I'm sorry my four little seedlings got pushed to the back and neglected.. :( I'm very curious about everyones outcome.. Thanks for reviving this thread -B I'd be up for a 2nd chance if you have new pods this year... my 1st try at pollinating probably didn't take.

Magnetic Island, Australia(Zone 11)

I'm sure Chrissy will be along shortly and that girl from DownUnder has got me started on seeds as well......... "Yes you can" ........she said and here are my first American crosses, popping up over our winter season.

Thank you, Bonnie. It was a fun watching the plant developed and blossomed. The flowers I've noticed lasted a long many days (compared to other cultivars in the garden), I think I'm going to name it Kim's brugmansia. What's your opinion? LOL.

MyaC, congratulation on your many seedlings. Chrissy is wonderful, with her encouragement I've had success with baby seedlings. I'll never forget the sharing of that experience with her....though, we both gardening in two different part of the world. lol. Chrissy rocks!

Bonnie, currently I'm still holding the seedpod that belongs to Dr. D. A pod that took the longest to ripen. I'll mail them out to you soon if you still want them. Plumeria seeds too, if I can find them.

Hi Kim
Yes Chrissy and I and a few others, feel that we are pioneering Angels into Australia, great and exciting feeling. I have managed to acquire some fabulous seed crosses with the likes of Dola,Joli,Superspot,Creamsickle,Miss Emily,Mountain Magic, just to mention a few. Chrissy also has great crosses and between us all we should come up with some great beauties.Alistair from MerooMeadows (Australia) has some awesome Angels for sale at present all bred at Meroo. So not long now and we should have a fine collection of Angels adourning our Australian shores.
Below is a pic of my newer seedlings and one is an albino...what to do?

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

That is a great name for the Fab Brug Kim☺

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Kimbob....has a nice ring to it : )

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Sorry, took me SOOOOOOOOOO long to get back over here, but Lily_Love, Kimbob would be perfect you lil sweetie! But she needs an adjective with it to describe her elegance and charm, don't you think?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

LOL, Bonnie, hmmm, that does give it a nice ring to it. lol. She's tirelessly blooming. BTW, I just crossed one of the flower with a double pink. Next year this time, I'll see what it will turn out. Wish me lots of lucks everyone.

I think she is beautiful Kim ...I have heard so many people complain about white noids but honestly I think a pristine white ...is just the exact thing that steals our heart when it comes to the Angels ...for me they truly are the Angel trumpet.
They look like they come straight from heaven ...I (like everyone )else want variety ... some of the Angels in the USA and overseas ... look like they came from Hollywood itself ...of course we want it all don't we? ...this is your first home grown baby and like I said it looks like it came straight from heaven ...I know it certainly lives there now.Congratulations!

Best Wishes, Kim .. Hi chrissy- ditto on your above post!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks Chrissy, Kim from Pennsylvinia, Bonnie, and Lu. Guess what? The cross is showing sign of success. I think I have "little okras" on those that I pollinated ten days past. Yoooohooooo!!!

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

Oh you lucky Kimbob. I don't think I was successful. I have one dry-looking thingy hanging from a stem, but if it is a seed pod,I will be pleasantly surprised☺

Does the seed pod form inside the spent blossom or does it just grow from the stalk if the pollination took? I had to bring brugs in a couple of weeks ago as they predicted frost so most all the blooms and buds fell off.

This is a pic of the only spent bloom left on the plants☻

Hello Lu, your pix of the wringling calyx looks promising that there maybe a sedpod within that cover. I remember Chrissy has suggested that we tear those paper thin cover off the pod to prevent bugs problem (it can harbor aphids, mites, fungal growths ect.). Last year, as my seedpods grew, I left them be. Those turned out okay (depends on the conditions and environment we've to provide for them).

This is my Eternity x (crossed) double pink's seedpod. It's roughly over an inch. Nature did all things. Something cause the calyx to fall off on its own reveal the developing seedpod within. ^_^

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

Thank You KimLove. The whole thing fell off last night. Here is a pic of inside the calyx. Since it fell off,it probably won't continue to grow if it is a seed pod, will it? I think I am disturbing it too much as I close the curtain at night and the curtain keeps hitting the top part of the Brug☻Boy, a Brug sure does object to movement, and touchy, feely stuff☻

I wonder if I put the stem in water and fertilizer if it would keep growing? I am bummed out about the whole thing, but I will try again next time they bloom☼ that flower had so much pollen everywhere when I pollinated it,it is a wonder I didn't poison myself as I breathed some of the pollen in. It must be the pollen isn't poisonous?

Lucille,
Sorry that is but an ovule that is self terminated. Maybe you can try to pollinate another later?

Keep touch, and dmail me your addy this winter. I'll send you some seeds for postages.

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

OH drat!Too bad I didn't come back sooner☻Look what I tried to do to grow that pod that isn't even a pod☻I definitely am a crazy plantlady☺

ROFL with you Lucille. That's a good one!!!

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

Kim, thanks for the seed offer, but I have all the seeds germinated you sent me earlier this year and the plants are alive and well in the basement near a west window. I don't really have room for any more Brugs. It was just the idea of pollinating my own Brugs and seeing a seed pod grow that fascinated me so. I hope the Hotties see this and that the Lurkers aren't laughing at me☻

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Lu, the Hotties sisters will roll in laughters, and we'll have a wonderful party together. I may even invite lurkers to join in so we'll have even a bigger party (remember laughters is good medicine), ^_^
Happy gardening,
Kim

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

ROFL too Kim♥ The really strange thing is,until I saw the pic posted, I did not see how funny it was cause I was so bummed out about it falling off......sigh...another one bites the dust☻

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Cheers! Autumn is here, there will be a period of rest for the growing season. Next year, will be a brand new one. New projects, new season, new friendships, new joy! In the meantime, our friendship is held dear. I'll post pix of my seedpod saga for all to enjoy along. 'Til then, keep our hearts young with laughter.
Your gardening friend from Alabama.

You girls! LOL, ROF, this ol Hottie lurks around, I'm branching out a bit (pun intended;)... decided it was time to clean up my thread watcher, but I know how to get around here on DG and keep an eye on all my buddies... Lucille! you are precious.... Amandataylor7 had a similair way to help her leaning brug one time, and I know the pain and agony first hand of losing a precious pod. (keep in mind; bailing wire (twine) and duct tape is a good thing for us crazy plant people to have on our fix it shelves or tool boxes).. Sure glad I got over here to see what was happening! Kimbob, you are such a generous precious person... I grow them in winter, too.. just deal with a few more challenges, but that and my precious DG Hotties and buddies, is my way of staying "sane" when the wind and snow it blowing across the prairie. Seedpod Saga... :) Yes, yes please keep us updated... Kim, you are my inspiration to try hand pollinating for the first time, this year and I was successful and I too guard that lil swelling pod of joy with a watchful protective eye... so Posy, I feel for you and will hopefully have seed to share in a few months... Antique Lace X Peach Versi - will be an interesting and fun project to keep me occupied, along with all of you!

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

Thanks AuntB☺darn☻I was so certain I had a pod. I do have some small blossoms on the top ys,so maybe I will get a chance to grow another pod this year☺

That is a wonderful Autumn decoration Kim♥

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Bonnie, congrats on your pollination success. I surely will post more pix soon. Lucille, pssst. My neighbors had tastfully put all that decoration together. I'll pay them a compliment, and relate yours, next time I run into them.
Kim

p.s. This is a tropical perennial Princess Flowers, yes Bonnie, I'm housing this among my many others, include brugs, and plumerias overwinter too.
