New lil Baby seedlings!!!!! Continuation!!
Congratulation James, on the new babiez! Now Let meet the Parents of those babiez. Here is the White Suaveolens x (pink/peach). I'll find the pollen-donors later. But this was the one that bore the seedpods of above babiez.

How exciting. And the parent is beautiful.
Still waiting for many of my seeds to sprout. I have 9 up so far. This is going to be such a fun year.
Keep posting.
Marie
Awwwww I love baby pics! Good for you James! The momma is a beautiful robust bloom!
Yes she is Zz. I hope I get something new for this year....lol
James
Momma is beautiful and the babies are just the cutest, but mine are going to be cuter.
nan nan nan
LOL, Robin. We worked out side in the garden all day, I didn't check on my seed tray today. Can you believe it? I didn't look at those future seedlings once. lol. I hope if I leave them alone, they may finally poke through the soil for me. lol, lol.

Well ... I have wandered over to this forum and this thread caught my eye.
I received some Brug cuttings from a generous DGer and rooted and grew them in pots. I managed to hand pollinate one of the Brugs and got 3 seed pods which I broke open today and a ton of seeds fell out. I now have a pile of seeds! LOL!
This is a great thread!
I was wondering just how fast a Brug will grow from seed. The mother brug was Pink Beauty and the other brug that was used for crossing was Ecuador Pink. Do they bloom the first year from seed?
Not usually, from what everyone says it takes 2-3 years for them to bloom, but who knows. You might get lucky and they may grow and bloom first year. ZZ and a few others will probably be able to tell you more than I can though.
Good luck and keep us posted on what you plant and those you give away, we want to see their babiez too.
Check out our first thread to see what we have so far. James and I both are new parents to some of Kims seeds. (Can you tell I'm proud)
Becky, according to Brugie, she stated that with our longer growing season in the South. It's likely that we could get flowers from the seedling first year. I believe her, for I raised half a dozen seedlings purchased from another DGer last July. They should be making Y-formation by now if it wasn't for the recess of winter.
I'm proudly announcing of my babiez!!! I've seedlings that are barely coming up from the ground. Both of the "floaters" and "sinkers" as previously mentioned, they both sprouted. I'm so happy. ☼♫♪☺
well congrats Kim glad to hear that you have growth!!!!
James
Kim congrats mate! you beat mine ...still no sign ...only thing I can think of is the cool temps ...mine are outside and the temps are in the low 60's never have I seen a Summer here that only had 3 days at 80F and the sun has only dropped in about 5 days with the rest being wet /grey or usually both ...anyway I know you must be thrilled :).
Meanwhile ... while I wait here are my "American babies" that germinated in the 70F's temps and seem to be powering away ...oops forgot to load them back in a minute.
chrissy
Thanks James, I'm very happy. I'm going to send your seeds and Deb's seeds out tomorrow, first thing. Gotta get those babiez going so maybe we will see som blooms by the end of the season. I can't hardly wait.
Thanks so much Kim I can not wait to start them....lol I am a true brug addict that is for sure..
James
Chrissy, yours should come along any time now, mine are in the greenhouse so it's in the 60'ish F. there. Bright light is the key I think.
At the meantime, I'm collecting pollens from these beauty. I thought about pollinate these for pods, but then I didn't want to stress them out bearing seeds while young. So everybody, begin to collect pollens, and store them now for future cross pollination. Likes Chrissy would say it; "Brugmansia's seedpods? Yes, you can".
Kim
Lol ...yes you can!
Look here Kim they are doing well my little American crosses ...in fact I am shocked how quickly they have taken off ...even a couple of headless wonders are growing little cot leaves ...but the biggest thrill is the 3 cot and 4 cot ...the four cot has produced four real leaves while the 3 cot has produced three :)
Look at those babiez!!! Watch out for those 3-4 cots. You may have tripple and quadruple blossoms (wishful thinking here -- 'cause I dunno fur sure)! lol.
Wooohooo, the future is so bright for you and me! We both need to wear shade. lol, lol. Congrats Chrissy!
Kim
That is going to be 'looker'! Wow, Chrissy. Please keep us posted of its progress. And the tripple branch formation! Look at those buds that are coming strong to boot. How old is that baby?
Kim
I don't care what they turn out like really because it means that I now have some interesting genes to play with ...which is what my dream is ...now if I cross my triple with the 3 and 4 cot plants who knows? will it be a star or a monster lol what an adventure!
For anyone interested these multi cots came from Ludgers Windsong x New Orleans Lady whoo hoo!
Kim wish we were neighbours ...guess we will have to settle for being cyber neighbours ...nice to know we are friends though and the same goes for all the supportive friends in daves garden!
Happy babiezzzzzzz everyone :)
That plant was just an 8" plant with no leaves in a 4" pot ...received it on the 21st of Dec ...it is an Australian breed from Alistair and it is a "smaller type" Angel with prolific flowering ...it is up to my chest now ...and the growth of the plant has been amazing. I hope Alistair does not mind me posting a pic of his to show you ...it starts out cream and turns into this
Whoa!!! Now, I wished I live in Australia! LOL. Thanks for sharing the pic. I've got to run downstair to look at the seedlings. lol.
Kim
Chrissy - This one: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4551570 is one impressive Brug. Do you ever get seeds? I wonder if my climate is similar to yours. I live in south-central Florida. Mild winters, hot summers.
I have more seeds than I will ever need of my Pink Beauty X Ecuador Pink. If anyone wants some, just d-mail me your mailing info. I'll zip some right out to you!
Y'all are great parents! Your seedlings look wonderful! So what are you going to do with them all when they get bigger? Just wondering. My yard is a residentual yard, so my planting space is limited.
I hand pollinated mine too. But since the 2 Brug blooms I used were the ONLY blooms, I didn't worry about tying closed the blooms. The brug bloom that I used to pollinate the other had just opened up and was still white. Lots and lots of pollen. Does the pollen decrease as the bloom ages?
When the pollen become ripe, I believe they're easy to fall off, thus decreased? Let's hear it from experienced growers please.
This may help re pollen ...while you are there have a look around

Chrissy.. I found out from SeedSprout that you can pick the anthers off with tweezers as soon as the bloom opens and put them in a dry area and the pollen will still get fluffy!
You can split open a bud and pollinate it before the bloom opens too. That is the best way to be sure it's gonna take, and it hasn't been open pollinated by "others" flying around..
Joyce; the above post of your pink Angel's blossom. Reminded me of Tom Jones' "She's beautiful.....and she's mine" LOL
I just love that. :-)
