Here they are in their home at my kitchen window. Notice the snow? It is coming down again. Nice thing about this time of year is that it doesn't stay long.

Cool, we're using the same method. :-)

I think you are getting a better germination rate than I am. Those look great.
Aren't we having fun?

This is my grandson, Tayson helping me plant. Yes, we are having fun.

What precious young gardener you've got there! And talking about being young. Look at the youngest grandma there is around. :-)

Your seeds are mine and here a couple of days ago Kim! Yahoo!! I took the cork covering off all of them today and I am going down to the basement to plant them right now!

To all of you here,Congrats on such wonderful success stories and I hope and pray I will have the same success rate as all of you☺ This is so much fun☺

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

Oh Yes, Kim, He is the 8th of 9 grandkids. Just Love 'em. I am trying to get them into gardening early. One of my 4 year old grandsons helped me in the yard Thursday. He had a blast knocking down the "trees" as he called them. The stalks of last years plants. We stayed out until sundown. Had a blast for the first day in the yard. Today it is covered in snow again.
This is my gardener: This picture is from last year.

Marie! He is adorable!!! And he's having so much fun gardening there! Congratulation, there is no doubt that you've successfully guiding him into a future avid gardener. 8Th of 9th grandchildren??? I'm jealous!!! I've 5 adult children, and I'm yearning for the day I'll be blessed with one grand child.....but not to worry, when I do, I'll have half a dozen all at once I'm sure. lol. I'm happy for you at the mean time.

What a great pic Myree,he has his heavy duty truck excavating pots already☺

One year I let the neighborhood kids plant Cucumber seeds. They watched and watched as they sprouted and grew cucumbers. They proudly carried the cucumbers home to their families. One child's parents were going through a messy divorce at the time and I saw him out in back of his home with his cucumbers stacked on the picnic table, he was just sitting there with them, feet swinging, humming, I hope the cucumbers he grew brought him some comfort and security.

New development; those 'lil babiez are ready for their new homes, their first 4" pot of their own. The sticks were there as Joyce has suggested to help train them growing up "straight and propper" lol. Thanks Joyce for the guidance. I'm so excited, since these are my very first own babies that I watched from the time of pollination to the day I collected the seeds and not knowing then whether they're going to get to this point. Hello World!!! New hybrid of the true NOIDs. LOL.

A TRUE noid hybrid! lol Kim, thanks for sharing your experience. I've learned so much. Your seeds were soaked, scraped (peeled) and bagged up over the weekend. I didn't make it to the sand pile, so I'll bury them once they sprout. (I wanted to see what was happening this time) I soon hope to have a new noid hybrid you can name. Of course, all that germinate will be "Kim's Babies" and any that I fall in love with will be named Kim.. or Lily or Lilykim... I have an Amanda's Pink Tree Brug I grew from seed..... not Amanda's seed, but she liked the looks of mine and I had to name it something when I took cuttings to send her... Now I've just been calling mine Amanda's Tree brug. I used to have yellow Kolorado Kelly, but I lost it a couple winters ago. Your infants look happy! Marie, yours look great, too! And what a cutie-pie! Posyblossom, how fun to teach kids about growing... I hope he thought that even when a persons world seems blown apart, you can still find joy in other things, like a cucumber vine. My flowers and plants have sure helped me through some rough times. So when I look at it like that...... I should spend more on plants... cheaper than actual therapy, lol.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Currently I've two of these NOIDS pink that are putting out new flower buds. They're about thumb's size now, I'll pollinate with Dr. D. and see what type of offsprings she put out to be, especially being fathered by Dr. D's. Have any reservation for these? Pouring your request now. lol. I can't wait until this pink bloom again for me. Such a vigorous growing brug, my very first brug from years ago.

Me too AuntB,just the smell of rain on dirt is like a tonic when I am down☺

Go Kim, I bet you will have lots of grandchildren, you are so good at raising babies☺

We have just one son and he may or may not marry and have children, but just having one child certainly lowers the odds of Grandchildren. I, in the meantime, pretty much adopt the neighborhood kids to fill the void. We have never been to "Chucky Cheese" but have had lots of offers to borrow any kids we'd like to take, kids love that place and parents hate it,it's a loud, noisy, kid restaurant, full of fun games, food and kids yelling and screaming and running all over☺

That pink is lovely Kim and it is wonderful to see your very own crosses doing so well ...my lazy little ones have finally started to get going now we have a few warmer days ...they sort of slept while it was cold and almost drowned in a storm while I was not here to cover them up ...but yes here are my first crosses too, my no name apricot (Grande Marnier look alike) and B.suavolens :)
I am really excited as you are, to know it really worked! whatever they turn out like! because it is good practice for playing around with the named crosses next year ...yes next year for us as we now go into autumn ...you never know it may be warmer than our summer has been. Well here they are poor little tykes shivered their way into life in difficult conditions but here they are :)
(psssst p :) I only have one son (wanted lots but was unable to due to complications) and he has given me 4 beautiful grandsons (one is in heaven ) and a wonderful magical granddaughter! and in the years I waited for a miracle ... my home was always full of happy laughter from everyones children ...there are so many children to love.:)

Those are all very pretty. Congratulations on your new little ones.
Kim that pink is so delicate. Very Beautiful. Being rather new to brugs, what color is Dr D?
Posy & B, Grandkids are great. We borrow them occasionally for fun and to let the parents rest.
I am going to pot some of my first ones up to gallon pots soon . I can't believe how thick some of the stems are. Fun to watch grow.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Marie, this are the two blooms of Dr. D. They're a light charming peach. I've some pollen of those. If not I may just cross Charles Grimaldi which is a deep orange to this light pink and see what offsprings will produce. I'm on a roll here with pollination. :-)

Very pretty color.
I am excited. One of my starts have a Y. Still in the house. Still in the gallon milk jug. I guess I need to repot soon.

Lily_love-

I'm confused---what is "DR. D.'s" full name or is this one that you grew from seed and therefore named?

I have the seeds from you, and beckygardener, potted up - am now on "baby watch"...I didn't peel the cork but did soak the seeds in water and hp. I think I'm gonna try a couple more of each of the seeds by trying to peel them. Sooooo, do I peel the seeds as they are (dry) or soak them first. to soften the "cork" and then peel? Or.....could I snip a little piece of the cork covering off with a nail clipper? Is it obvious to y'all that patience is NOT one of my virtues?!...LOL!

MyRee-

I did do tip cuttings of my Monster White for you 3 weeks ago but they're being "stubborn" re: rooting. This weekend I'm gonna do "wood" cuttings of the same MW as they probably will root easier/quicker than the aforementioned green cuttings and, since all of the cuttings are from above the "Y", you should have flowers this summer!!! I'll keep you informed on the progress of the cuttings.

Anyone else (Marie, Lu, Bonnie, James, Deb, Robin) have luck as far as the brug seeds, from Lily-love, germing yet?????????

Have a wonderful weekend!

Jan, who STILL has 2'-3' of snow cover, temps in the 20's (and/or lower than 20) and supposedly Spring "starts" 2 weeks from yesterday---YEAH, RIGHT :( :( :(

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

MyRee-

My (envious) congratulations on the start that has Y'd!

Jan, whose blue eyes are green with envy---LOL!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Jan, I'm on baby watch too. I couldn't tell you what day I actually potted them up I think it was Thurs the 28th. My days have kind of been out of sorts and things are running into each other with this medicine the doc has me on for pneumonia.

What I do is soak for 24 hours and take my nail and sort of pry up part of the cork and then soak another 24 to 48 hours, then plant them. I am expecting them to pop up anytime now. Of course my days are off but it will be close.

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

Robyn-

Ohhhh---pneumonia can really kick a person's butt---please take care of yourself and I'll wish a speedy recovery for you!!!

Thanks for your brug seed starting method (...'cept I don't have nails---it's either nicely manicured fingernails or gardening/playing in the dirt...)---LOL!!!

Jan, who liked to play in the dirt when I was 'little' and still likes to play in the dirt!!!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

My nails are not nicely manicured and they always have dirt in them, on them or under them. I like to play in the dirt to. If you have no nails a flat edged pair of tweezers will work. Just barely lift up to expose the seed them plop it back in the water or you can pull it off completely. If I pull it off I make sure I soak it, lift the edge, soak it and then take off the cork. The water will get into the seed area easier this way. I might lose one or two out of ten when I peel of the cork. I prefer to just lift and soak and then plant. When the seedling come up I mist the cork so it comes off easy.

I hope this wasn't too confusing. I can confuse people real easy when I'm blubbering on meds.

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

Nope, you weren't confusing! Thanks, again, for your help :)

Jan, mine from Kim have not germinated yet either, but they have only been in the soil since 3-1,in milk jug green houses. I did remove the cork covering by picking it off with my fingernail and then kinda rubbing the seed to make sure the covering was off and oops, I didn't know I was supposed to soak them. I don't think they are warm enough where I have them so I may move them up to The Sun room today. Baby watch is on in my house too☺

LU

I don't think when they are that fresh you really need to soak them.
I had so many seeds that I tried every which way ...some came up slower ..but in the end they are all coming up! in my case the temps were low, but after some warmth here they come!

So relax it will be ok ...they are all coming up!

Hi all, sorry I was MIA for a short while. But, I'm Bacccckkkkk. lol.

Jan, Dr. D brug is a named cultivar;
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53647/

Most brugs like I stated above, will not be self-fertile, thus we need two different type of brugs to cross pollinate successfully. Or we collect pollens and store them for later cross pollination. I hope that helps.

Robin and I sowed some brugs seed on Feb. 4th. I think hers germinated a day or two before mine popped up. It took us roughly 10-14 days to see those babies pop up from the growing media. With my fresh seeds. Soaking 24 hours was adequate. I didn't peel any of them. It worked for me. :-)

We been holding a nice hot supper for your return Kim☺My would be baby Kims are still sleeping while you have been gone. I do wish they would wake up to play soon☺
