Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

you get them from the grocery store!?

For Rita,
I've taken more photos of these and they've been stuck on the camera for several days now as I downloaded an updated verion of kodak software..and of course it would be too much to think it would work right off the bat..no..you have to fiddle, uninstall, reinstall etc...so I sit down in front the computer for 5 minutes , the garden 55 mins...more computer for 5 more minutes...back to garden 55 more minutes...at this rate..I should have it working by next tuesday!

Eranthemum pulchellum, Eranthemum nervosum

wow that blue is such a deep color! i have never seen that brilliant blue before

yes i originally got mine from the grocery store here. they are by the potatoes. they are called malanga here. i think they are also known as taro. they are brown and kind of a hairy potatoe looking thing. just make sure they don't have wax on them. they spread like mad as well.look at the flower.

Loquats are delicious and very healthy. Just grab a few ripe ones when you're out and about in your garden. Spit out the seeds....

Red Oak, TX

diehrdsouthrnr, from what I have read about the brancifolia, they are hardy to zone 9. It will survive in zone 8 with heavy mulching.
My personal experience with them in my GH is that they grew at little over the winter, keeping the temp. no lower than 50 degrees.

Rj, we will try real hard to find something to put back into your containers.
Texasbigleaves is probably working another big show,. They work very late hours.

Thank you for my picture of the blue sage, I just love that color. Your software must be working fine now, the color just pops out on the screen. Usually the blues in my pictures all seems to be quite lighter than the true color.
Love the amaryllis flower, very unusual. good picture

I bought this from zone 9 last year, just comining up in the GH. Xanthosoma sagittifolium variegata.

Thumbnail by prita
Red Oak, TX

candela, funny story. I planted a row of the xanthosomas by the fence line along with some tapioca (cassava) at my little house in Belize and left them for a year thinking that I will have a overgrown border when I went back. Wrong,... they were all dug and eaten. I planted a few travelers palms hoping for better luck this time.
They are also good in pots, these were much larger at the end of summer last year.

i am soo sick with a cold/sore throat so i stayed home today so i guess i will post some old pictures. my neighbor has a coconut palm so i give the coconuts to my dog to tear them up then they make good orchid holders

Rj, I love that amarylis,it is beautiful.

drapelady, most of my pictures are from my greenhouse, where most everything is covered with bugs. I really enjoy the pictures of other gardens and their new plants. It is like shopping without buying anything.

Rj , that blue sage picture turned out all right for me. It must be the star of your garden. I am glad that you got your software working, there is such clarity on the last two photos, I keep clicking on the amaryllias flower.

placenciarita what is that pretty pink flower?

Debbie

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

i hope neither you nor she mind me answering for her, but that flower is bouganvillea

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

It really did bloom well this year, I think because of the warmer winter here, and it's finally established well. I loved the blue too, that's why I bought it. Took a couple of years to get there though. The plant itself is kind of lanky, but the leaves are pretty.

The amaryllis I believe I got from Jackie in Oklahoma. I really like the amaryllis and criniums. I just leave them in a container stored in a shady area, and then just cycle them out to the deck when they start blooming..they are so low maintenance.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Cassie, that trilium? is very cool looking!

There's already a banana cana blooming!

Hope you guys in Redwood stay warm the next couple days...I already have the greenhouse fired up again...nippy!

Yes, we too are predicted in the 30's tonight and tomorrow night. Hard to believe weather can change that much in just one day. Rita I love the snow bush. Can you please give me the name of the plant in your very first post at the top of this thread.

Debbie
