Stop and visit, talk all you want. Pt. 16

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Morning everyone!

Tammy, you're not telling Mau enough to give her a very good feeling of what the show is about. Melinda (Jennifer Love-Hewitt's character) is married to an EMT named Jim. Melinda runs an antique shop and has the ability to see, and talk to dead people. They always have something "left" to do, and Melinda helps them do whatever they need to do and cross them over. It's not always pleasant, because they're not always pleasant souls. I'm not sure it's your kind of show?

I got my rug, and it's down. I haven't gotten a picture of it yet. Will post it when I do.

We've got 3 movies to watch. . . didn't realize my husband had rented these movies yesterday that need to be returned today. sigh.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I just didn't feel up to it this morning, Terry. I had the stuff that hit the top half of my body, now I think it has hit the bottom half. :( But you did a fine job of explaining it!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Hi all. lots of rain outside right now. Ugh. Gonna turn into ice in some places and with a bit of snow on top tomorrow. Thank god I don't have to work Monday.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Yep, it is pouring here as well!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

It's pouring and I still need to download those snow pics from early in the week. lol. Have to try again tomorrow.

Now I need to raid the freezer again and get the last ice cream sandwich out and eat it. LOL

(Zone 7a)

Busy girls! Hi!

I was at work all day. I missed out on talking but I've caught up now.

Ice cream sandwiches! Oh, I miss those.

I can't wait to see the rug pics.

Tammy and all, GET BETTER!!!

(Zone 7a)

And I think you gave me your cold, Tammy. :-)

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Good morning, everyone! ☺☺☺☺☺

Celia, if you stop thinking Tammy gave you her cold, do you think it will go away? LOL
Hope you are feeling better today, Tammy.
Terry, you are probably right--Ghost Whisperer doesn't sound like my kind of show. I'll stick with Mr. Monk. LOL I watched South Pacific on the Hallmark Channel last night--the updated version with Glenn Close and Harry Connick, Jr.
I didn't know either of them could sing but if those were their real singing voices and not lip synched, then I will have to admit that they can sing. In the "olden days" directors would use actors who couldn't sing and just have them lip synch to someone else's voice. I don't think they do that anymore--audiences demand the "real thing" nowadays. I saw the original version of South Pacific with Mitzi Gaynor when it came out back in the 50's but this one was just as good and probably not as corny as the original. I don't remember the Harry Connick, Jr. character getting blown up by a land mine, though.

We had lots of rain here yesterday afternoon and even thunderstorms last night around midnight. Hopefully, all that has blown over, although it is still cloudy. It is 48º on my backporch right now. That may sound like a regular heat wave to some of you! LOL

Y'all have a good day. I'll BBL.
Mau

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Hey Celia, I think I agree with what Mau said about you 'thinking' I gave you my cold. So quit thinking that and it will go away! HA HA HA
I am feeling better, but was up with Sienna last night around 1:00 losing every bit of what she had eaten. That poor baby just keeps getting sick!!!
Anyway, good morning everyone, and I hope all of you feel better, too!

Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

I have a Question.. I don't know much about a computer & I tried to buy something from Woot that has deals everyday & it wouldn't let me purchase it & said I had to many cookies & had to delete them !! Can anyone tell me how to delete cookies.
Jerry.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Morning everyone!☺

Jerry, are you using IE? I don't (I use Mozilla Firefox), but I know if you right click on the icon on your desktop and go down to properties, click on that. Under General, it says browsing history. It tells you to delete temporary files, history, cookies. . .click on delete and it brings up another little window. On that, tell it to delete the cookies. It actually doesn't make much sense to me for it to say that you have too many cookies. That's a new one on me.

Mau, Harry Connick Jr. has been singing for a very long time. Here's a website;
http://www.harryconnickjr.com/
I always thought of him as a young version of Frank Sinatra. He has a great voice.

Celia, stop thinking that!! What cold? You don't have a cold!! You just think you have a cold! LOL And to make you feel better, here's the rug. The sun was shining really bright yesterday and streaming in from another room. That's actually my little dog in the sunlight on the corner of the rug. . . LOL

Terry that is gorgeous!!!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Glenn Close won a Tony for her Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard on B'way. i really like her as a singer. i think of Harry Connick as being primarily a singer.
There is also a really cool Carnegie Hall PBS concert version of South Pacific with Reba McIntire as Nellie and Brian Stokes Mitchell *sigh* - one of the great B'way leading men of the modern era as Emile, and Jason Danieley *sigh again* as Lt. Cable. Wonderful voices... Oh - and Alec Baldwin plays Luther Billis.

Theatre Geek! I like that! :)

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Harry Connick Jr is an awesome singer and actor. I just adore him! LOL.

Glenn Close can sing and it's not really a secret. lol

I wish I had watched South Pacific last night. I had forgotten it was the updated version. Oh well. it will be back on.

Terry, send that rug down here. You can't keep it. :~p

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Thank you, thank you very much! All I need now is a coffee table, and I know what I want. Not really a coffee table, but actually an old farm table, no leaves or anything, with legs cut down to lower it to coffee table height. Now to just find such a table that would be perfect for me and what I want!

pep, if you want this rug, you need to come up here and fight me for it I guess. I promise I'll go easy on you and not hurt you too bad.

Harry Connick Jr. definitely started as a singer and will always remain a singer in my head. You know, like Elvis? Though I must say, Harry can act way better than Elvis! LOL☺

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i think both versions of South Pacific are available on DVD - so Netflix probably has them...

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL. I'll just sneak in there and steal it while you are asleep.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

BTW, both the Tony award winning A Raisin in the Sun from a couple years ago, and the Tony award winning(?) Company from last season have been filmed for TV and will air this week - Raisin on ABC this Monday and Company on PBS on Tuesday here. Tell your Tivos!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Gorgeous rug, Terry! I love the colors in it and the pattern, too.

Well, I guess the reason I didn't know Harry Connick, Jr. could sing is because, 'till last night, the only thing I have seen him in is "Hope Floats" with Sandra Bullock and he didn't sing in that. I don't keep up with the latest movies or the latest movie stars because, after all, a "star" is just a ball of hot gases! LOL.
I can picture Reba McIntire as Nellie but somehow I just can't picture Alex Baldwin as Luther Billis--at least not the way that the actor portrayed Billis last night (can't think of the actor's name, but he was great.)

Speaking of theater, when Pau and I went to New York City in Dec. 2001 and again in Dec., 2002, my main desire while there was to see Phantom of the Opera. The music, the story, the voices, the acting!!! I fairly swooned in my seat, I loved it so much--every wonderful minute of it.! The only down side was that I had to sit and explain (in a whisper) the whole story to Pau as it went along--he didn't have a clue what it was all about--typical southern man that he is (you know--the Tim Taylor-type!)--God love him! (and I do, too.) LOL Afterwards we went to dinner in a restaurant across the street from the theater. We had beef bourgandy and what else I can't remember but it was delicious and not too expensive--by NYC standards. The entire meal including dessert was only about $120.00. Oh, well, it was my birthday present so why not? ☺☺☺ It was a far cry from the place Pau took me the first time he took me out when we started dating!! Now THAT was a hole in the wall--but popular with the noontime crowd and it did have good food!!

Jerry, hopefully Terry's suggestions will help you out with deleting "cookies". I'm certainly not good at that sort of thing which is why I have to have software to tell me when to do all that.

Y'all have a good afternoon!

Mau

Harry Connick is a singer/pianist with many CDs who used his music career to start an acting career. Probably the 1st thing i remember him from is he is the singer of all those standards on the When Harry Met Sally... soundtrack. He also has a great Xmas CD from about 6 or 7 years ago.
He is also a native New Orleanian, and has worked to help the city come back post-Katrina - he did some great reports on one of the news channels right after the disaster that were very moving. In the late 90s, he founded the Krewe of Orpheus, one of the super parades on Lundi Gras night.
Wow - who knew i knew so much about him? But trust me, if you like him in some things, check out the pictures on his Xmas CD, and you'll know what you want to find under your tree!
; )

O yeah - he also starred in the B'way revival of The Pajama Game a couple of years ago - his B'way debut.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

He's also on the Weather Channel some nights. 100 Biggest Weather Moments

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone! Not ignoring you....just not feeling too good here.
Love the rug Terry!!
Marilyn, I got a good laugh out of that ball of gases....LOL!!! And stop that!! It hurts my throat to laugh!
Well you gals...would you believe...I know next to nothing about movies or tv shows! I rarely watch tv....and we NEVER go to movies or even rent them! Hubby does buy some...the ones he likes...lol...and he watches a lot of tv at night!
I am either on the puter, or reading a book.
We had to go to the funeral parlor for a viewing today, and got in a horrendous rain storm coming home on the interstate! It made me very nervous because I wasn't driving...hubby was. And he can really get uptight in situations like that! But we made it through. A little later a tornado warning came on the radio...and was for an area just east of us. We are pretty sure that went right over us!!! Scary stuff!!
Still typing on this laptop. Son is sick too...so not much progress on my computer at all.
Ok....everyone take care....and know I am reading!!! Hugggs to all!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

You are probably getting hit with the same storm that got me. It is a nasty storm.

Get better soon and your son too!

I got an update this morning on my cousin. He is still in the hosptial and still having trouble with internal bleeding from what I understand. He has already had to have 2 pints of blood. They can't figure out where the bleeding is starting at and it is really frustrating everyone. So I really doubt he will be out tomorrow but at least he is still alive.

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

THanks Pepper!
Gee I hope they find out what is going on with him!!! I doubt he will be going home with still bleeding either!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I know it's crazy. He has had heath problems for seveal years now. He's ex Air Force and was in Afganistan. He has been in and out of the hospital for different reasons but I think this is pretty close to the worse so far.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Sending good JuJu to all! :o)

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

I have a nephew that was in Saudi Arabia. You know...so many got sick over there...in one way or another. But my nephew was one of the lucky ones, I guess. He hasn't had any ill effects from it.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

He's very lucky.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

hey Marcy - is New Madison OH anywhere near New Albany OH? My DH has to go there next weekend...

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well surprise surprise! They sure missed the boat on our forecast! Was supposed to keep on raining and about this time, it should of changed over to sleet. Later in the night, early tomorrow morning, it would change to snow. And it's already gone past Marcy! Unbelievable. I don't think we had that much rain. No sleet, no snow. How can they be that far off? That's really a rhetorical question, no need for anybody to answer. LOL

I'm off to bed. I'm tired. Night night. . .♥☺♥☺♥☺♥

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Good morning, everybody!
You girls have given me more information about Harry Connick, Jr. than I ever knew existed. LOL He certainly is multi-talented. I may have to get some of his cd's.

So sorry you have a sore throat Marcy--Get better soon!

Speaking of tornadoes, I heard Sam Champion (ABC weatherman) say that as of the middle of February there had already been 95 tornadoes in the U.S. The previous high number for February was 28! That ought to tell you something about how wierd the weather is lately.

Amy, Since Marcy hasn't answered you yet, I can tell you where New Madison is: It is in the western portion of Ohio slightly northwest of Dayton--almost to the Indiana line. It is close to Richmond, Indiana. I believe Marcy says she goes to Richmond to do some of her shopping. If you find I-70 and look to the north, you will find New Madison on Hwy 121. I don't know where New Albany is--I looked for it on the map but couldn't find it.

Pepper: I certainly hope the doctors find the cause of your cousin's internal bleeding very quickly. Please keep us informed about his condition.
It is shaping up to be a gorgeous day here in central Arkansas. Our bad weather has gone east and north, I suppose. Sun is shining and the temp. is supposed to be up in the 50's today and into the 60's the next two days. Wonderful!!

Y'all have a good day.
Later. . .
Mau

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

It is SO windy here it is blowing in our exhaust fans! It's been pouring since last night - the rain seems to be taking a little break right now, but the wind is crazy. Oh, and it is 50 degrees!?
I think New Albany is outside of Columbus.

(i can never resist a chance to promote musical theatre!)

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Good morning all.
Amethystsm...yes...that is where New Albany is located....just a small village. LOL...I had to look it up. I knew I had seen it, but didn't know where. I have a brother that lives in Albany, Ohio. That is in the southern part of the state...no where near New Albany....go figure!
We are getting a little snow this morning....but not supposed to accumulate. Fine with me!!
Oh...and Marilyn was right about where I am. If you would go straight west of my house, it would only be 5 miles to Indiana. And I am just about ten miles from Greenville, Ohio...and ten miles from Richmond, Indiana. ST. Rt. 121 goes either way to both towns. And neither of those towns has as much shopping as Dayton...lol! I am about an hr northwest of Dayton. More than you all wanted to know, I'm sure!
We didn't get to go to the funeral this morning, as I woke up feeling much worse. I just didn't feel like I could make it. I hate that too...because I was looking forward to seeing all my nephews and their families. They came in from all over.
One came from Spain, one from New York....and one flew in from New Mexico, where he was on business. We did get to see the one from Spain last night.
He lives there...married a Spanish girl...and he teaches English over there. Said he loves it there!!
Ok...I have managed to get through this long post....but bad things are happening here! Popups...geesh!!!!
Plus my cursor stops all the time!! So I'm done for now!!!
Have a great day all!!!

(Zone 7a)

Good morning!

I tried and tried and tried with the "Happy Thoughts" but I'm still sick. Not going to work today. I went yesterday and THAT was a mistake.

Beautiful rug! I'm jealous!

I'll catch up later when I feel better. My head is all swimy.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Good afternoon all! Hope everyone gets to feeling better!!! :o)

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Feel better soon, Celia!

Amy, thanks for that link to The Pajama Game--I really enjoyed it. I took my DGD to see Riverdance a couple of years ago. We went to one of the matinees and I had to take her out of school to see it, but it was well worth it. Afterwards she said, "Ma Susie, we ought to do things like this more often!" I told her that, unfortunately, there weren't enough shows like that "out there" that a girl her age could see. When we went to NYC in 2001, we had a younger friend with us who is more like a daughter to us. She wanted to go see "Rent". We all got up and left at intermission--the subject matter was too vulgar for us Arkansas rednecks! :o((

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

o, there are a million shows out there - any of the classics that are always being revived - and some new ones too. How old is she, and what are you near? (All i know in AR is Little Rock, and Memphis is near the Eastern part...)

Cirque de Soleil is coming to Little Rock in a couple of weeks, and the Arkansas Rep is an excellent regional theatre - though they do more plays than musicals, i think. And there's lots of other theatre and dance:
http://www.littlerock.com/nightlife/theatre.asp

(Sorry - my curiousity was piqued, so i had to check it out!)

This message was edited Feb 18, 2008 2:14 PM

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

She is 14 now. We are near Little Rock. I can probably check the website for Robinson Auditorium and see what shows they are having but I think their season is just about over. They usually have 3-5 broadway shows per year. It is just that now she is in 9th grade it is more important that she not miss school.
